Does it stain your clothes?
Does it hurt when you get hit?

Any other information would be helpful. Thanks

I have gone paintballing once. It was for a 40th b-day party.

I think the paint washed out however do not wear your best stuff obviously.

Make sure all parts of your body are covered because it does hurt. Some of the guys had welts and some had bruising from getting hit directly on uncovered skin, esp. the top of your head. I know they supply you with a face mask but you may still need a hat, like a snow cap.

It is fun. We played as a big group. I think I would do better now that I have been playing Left for Dead 2 on the XBOX360.:lmao:

My boyfriend is going with a group from work ("teambuilding") the day before we leave for a cruise. It does leave bruises. People will think I beat him :lmao:

My DS14's friend asked him and some other guys to go to a paintball place this weekend, but DS seems like he doesn't want to go.
We listen to a morning radio show where they video taped a paintball game they had and some of the guys had these awful looking welts. They said it was quite painfull and these were big guys. I think DS might be worried about getting hurt.

DS 14 did paintball at summer camp and said it does sting. He had fun trying it but wouldn't go out of his way to do it again. If all of DS' buddies were going to do paintball, he'd probably go. The paint washes out of clothes but I'd tell your DS not to wear his favorite sweatshirt, shirt, etc. because it might not wash out.

I personally have never tried paintball. My sister was a chaperon on a church youth event and came home with a huge bruise on her upper arm. It was at least the size of a baseball, and it was sore. She never went again.

My dad had to go for a work "team building" activity and hated ever minute of it. He hunts in his real life and felt that it was stupid to be "playing war" as a grown adult.

I LOVE paintball! But itcan hurt if you get hit too close. My freshman year of college we did paintball as a teambuilder on my floor, and I ran out of the woods just as someone was taking a shot at someone far away, so I got hit at close range in the thigh. I had a HUGE bruise that was bigger then a baseball with a welt in the middle. It looked like a tye-dyed leg. It hurt, and looked awful, but it was still fun and I kept playing. We dressed in Army fatigue type clothing ,and all the paint came out except the yellow. SO don't wear your favorite clothes. ANd if you are going to be wearing vests and protective gear, it can get hot!

SO keep your face safe and have a good time! It stings when you get hit, but it is not bad at all. It really is a lot of fun, and good excercise.

Haha when my mom saw a pic of me away at college for the first time with a huge tye-dye looking bruise/welt on my leg she was horrified. lol. The bruise lasted until Halloween.

DH paintballs a couple of times a year. he loves it. He has an outfit specifically for it because it does stain his clothes. (he wore a brand new pair of jeans the first time he went.... I was not amused) Plus if they really get into it they are rolling around in the grass/dirt, so his stuff gets dirty too.

He said that most of the time the paintballs don't Hurt as much as they sting when they hit, but he has had them break the skin before. (on uncovered skin at close range)

One of the girls we know thought it would be fun, but was scared so she had her boyfriend shoot her before they went so she would know what to expect.
;)

DS played paintball at a birthday party and got shot on the adam's apple. It was a freak accident and he was fine, but it scared him a lot because he had some breathing issues at first, in addition to the pain. His mask should have covered his neck, but I think he was looking up.

I'm just glad I decided to stay for the party--I had planned on signing him in and leaving. All the waivers made the mommy in me nervous, though, so I stayed. He enjoys shooting guns, but that gave him a healthy respect for them, and now he says that even with paintball, he'd rather shoot at cans (like he does with his BB gun) because he wouldn't ever want to hurt another kid like he got hurt.

Not that anything like that is likely to happen, but wear your mask and make sure your neck is covered by it.

LOL. The welts are very distinctive, so unless people think you were beating him with a marble, it shouldn't be a problem.

The paint is water soluble, but some brands/colors can stain , so wear clothes you don't care about.

It does sting. Just depends on where you get hit and how far away the shot came from. The sting of a hit usually lasts less than a minute, although you are likely to end up with some bruising for a week or so.

Sounds odd, but honestly, the pain is one of the things that makes it fun. If you're playing laser tag or something, there is really no fear of getting hit. And although the sting from a paintball isn't bad at all, it's enough that you get an adrenaline rush and have a fear of getting hit.

I'm 38 and I LOVE paintball. I don't get a lot of chances to play, but I've gone 5 or 6 times in the last couple years. It really is a ton of fun.

Wear a couple of layers with the top layer being something loose fitting.....like someone mentioned earlier....camo pants and that type thing are good......creates a little cushion. DS & DH like to go and DS is just 12. They usually have some little red places after playing but have never bruised due to the layers of clothes. They generally do a tshirt - a long sleeve shirt and then some type of jacket/hoodie on top of that.

my ds 19 loves it,yes it stings and leaves welts but he loves it. i will tell you if you get into it and want to buy gear and clothing, its quite expensive.

Paintballing is an inferior form of airsofting.

I went paintballing with a group of co-workers several years ago. Hurt? OMG YES!! I was wearing jeans and long sleeves and my boss decided to stand right behind me (like 2 feet away) and shoot me about 10 times. I have never had bruises like that before in my life. I hurt for weeks!!! One very deep bruise (on some especially "soft" tissue - LOL) stayed for months.

I would never, ever try paintball again. :headache:

Paintball clothes are made with a purpose. They are specially designed to 'catch' the paintball without exploding. However, they provide no cushion whatsoever. This is why you invest money in protective gear.

I wore relatively tight jeans, a sweatshirt, and coveralls, and I walked away black and blue. I know this sounds like I'm a baby, but I would recommend padded football pants, covered by sweatpants. They also sell a chest/back protector. Lastly, padded gloves are a must, with only the trigger finger cut away.

Most paintball places only provide a mask/helmet and marker(gun) for rent. Everything else costs money, and it adds up quick.

Once your DS plays the first time, he will want more. Sure it hurts, but if you haven't played it, you won't understand.

My DS14 loves, loves, loves paintballing. He always comes home with welts that he is very proud of. Here the paintball place gives everyone full length coveralls, a red team and a blue team, a neck guard, a full helmet. DS sometimes wears a nut cup. The arena they play in is large, so less chance of getting hit at close range.

He has played in the USA too and the bruises/welts were bigger. I don't know if they play with higher pressure on the guns?

It hurts, but it doesn't harm you. Does that make sense? Like football hurts, but once its over you are ok.

My DS12 played for the first time a few weeks ago and also loved it, but he didn't get hit hard.

Katy
