Tell me about Disney Dollars please

What is the purpose of them? Are they like gift certificates, or are they like a discount coupon (for instance...buy $100 dollars worth for $95 dollars...or something like that?

You use them dollar for dollar. It's "real money" (to Disney) that you can use anywhere on Disney property. If you have a Disney store near you, you can purchase them there. It is a good way to save for your trip. For instance, when I go to the mall, I almost always pick up a few, just to tuck away.

Thank you! That is a good idea about picking them up at the Disney store to help save for the trip! I REALLY want to go next fall, but I just don't know if we will have enough money together. We may have to wait a bit longer. That is one good way to save, without raiding my secret Disney money box for useless bills like food and electricity!

I am purchasing them for every holiday/birthday for DGNephews....my DN and her DH do not know how to save....so this way the kids will be able to buy thingsthey want when my DH and I take my sister with them next October!!! Thought this way the kids could have fun picking out what they want.....even if it's fifty ice cream sandwiches!

I'd like to add that the Disney Dollars are really cute! They are actual "dollars"--at the store I went to, you could buy them in $1, $5, and $10 denominations. They have really pretty pictures of the parks painted on them, and at my Disney store they gave me little cardboard boxes to put them in so I could give them as gifts. I was very impressed with them! Much more fun than giftcards.

So is the disney store the only place where you can purchase disney dollars? Or is there a place on line? We do not have a store anyplace even remotely close to us and the thought of purchasing the dollars to save up some extra money for our trip is appealing. Thanks for any info
