Team Renfroe - Pre-Trip Report for May 15-22, 2009 **Final Chapter**

Hey Alan, love the phones. :thumbsup2 Is there a jealous icon in here somewhere? I have about 6 months left on my 2 year contract and will be jumping ship to a new carrier so I can't do any upgrades right now.

So no new phones for the trip, but I am looking for a new camera to replace my old Digital Elph. I love the size, and being able to just hold it on my hip, so I may just get the new model.

Hope all is well.

I'm ordering my 8 day hoppers from Undercover Tourist tommorrow! One more week and it will be under a month!!!

1 month and 4 days your ticker says!! I'm so excited for you and selfishly cannot wait for another Team Renfroe report! (little banana boy shaking what his momma gave him! :lmao:)

I hear you with the phones !! DGDs are texting constantly which is why we have unlimited !! For $30 a month for all 5 of us it is a great deal !!:thumbsup2 I don't use it at all!!Texting is not for me!!
Yes Alan we are getting sooo close ! :cool1:Remember how we waited and waited fo our ADR window to open:lmao: Seems like we have been planning this trip for ever !!I am so excited to be meeting so many Dissers on the 17th even though I have not met any of you before I feel like you are all old friends !!:thumbsup2 That's what the Dis is all about:cloud9:

Hi Rosie! I DO remember how we waited....and waited...and waited! Now, it seems like time is passing by rather quickly and it will be here before we know it!

Congrats on the LG. I still have my older version, but I love that brand! They last and work very well.

I still have the older texting plan - 200/ mo. Maybe unlimted someday :rolleyes1

WE are really loving the LGs and the unlimited texting. I actually think it has made DS & I closer. He thinks I am a "pretty cool dad." :thumbsup2

Oh yay! I just finished reading your last tr and I am happy to be able to read the next one too!!! Good Luck!!

Hi disneypreppo09! Thanks for reading our trip report and welcome to our PTR!

Halleluah! I can now report that I have learned how to answer my new phone!:thumbsup2 Guess how you do it? You press the little phone shaped button on the front! :lmao: I was trying to unlock it then answer it but you only have to unlock it if you want to make a call! I must also confess that I did not really learn this - my daughter had to show me because she was tired of me not answering the phone!:lmao:

Going to cancel the tv service after the free months because all I get is little kids shows (don't have any of those) and news (only bad so I don't watch :rotfl2:). Other than that, I love it. Beats the heck out of my old flip phone that had the top flip part broken off by a darling four year old in MS!princess:

Sorry didn't mean to hijack this but I was just so excited that I actually answered a call today I had to report on it!

Those of us going in May, we are down to a little over a month! See many of you then!

Hahaha!!! I hear ya! That little icon on the phones with the phone on it can really come in handy!!

Hi Alan, been a lurker for a while but just wanted to comment on the Disney Visa Card. My husband and I went to WDW last yr (08) and signed up to get ours @ Downtown Disney. It's a great idea and glad to see you got yours as well. We just went to WDW for our 09 trip (march 7-14), did the Buy4Get3 Free Deal, had our $200 gift card from Disney plus another $25 gift card that we had earned in Disney Dollars from our Visa. After the gift cards were spent we only had a total of $238 on our key to the world cards for our seven day trip. we didnt even have the meal plan. amazing i know! we did take our own food for breakfasts though (so that cut out one meal a day). and got the refill cup from POP. Be sure and take advantage of the Epcot Character Spot Meet & Greet too. be careful though b/c we didnt see that to get the free photo w/ a character we had to be there before 4pm and almost missed it.

WE are LOVING the Disney Visa card! I have already earned $75 on it and I think it will be great to redeem the points at WDW in May!! Thanks for coming out of lurking....and don't be a stranger!

Hi colinsdad! Our trips are coming up fast now! Good luck with the new phones. We are LOVING our new LG vus!

Hi Christine! Before you know it, we will be putting together a new trip report! This trip should be absolutely terrific! WE are staying at CSR, on the deluxe dining plan, and we have a DISmeet lined up for May 17th at Epcot! This is going to be great! WE will most definitely miss you!

Alan

DIS friends,

You all are not going to believe this, but DW and I are starting our own business! We are getting ready to open a new restaurant in our home town, serving hot dogs from around the country. It will be called "B.F. DAWGS." (The B.F. stands for "beef", or "best freakin' dogs.) Anyway, this a completely new venture for us, and we hope that you will pray for our success in this venture.

That sounds great Alan. I will keep ya'll in my prayers. Next time we come to Talladega for the races and stay with family in Oxford we will have to come up and get us a B. F. Dawg.

How exciting for you!:cheer2: I will most certainly be sending good thoughts for your success. What a perfect venture for a family who loves food! Will your son with the gourmet tastes be getting into the action too? Maybe he can create his own dog with some fancy toppings! ;) It really sounds exciting. Maybe you can start a thread on the community board to keep us posted on how the venture is coming along-- I've always wondered what it would be like to start your own business and would love to follow along with you! Good luck!! :goodvibes

I've been a long time lurker and loved your last trip report as I am loving your current pre trip report. Best of luck in your new venture and I'm so excited because we may actually get to see you and your family at the parks as we just booked our trip for 5/9-5/18/09 at All Stars Movies. It makes the trip even more fun when you get to see the real life dissers that you've read the trip reports for. :cool1:

YUM YUM i love me some dogs. now us North Carolinians like our dogs w/ mustard, slaw, chili & onions. consider that some easy research for your knew "dogs around the country" menu. Oh, and i was at the NCAA BBALL tournament a couple weeks ago when they were playing in Greensboro, NC (just down the road from me) rooting on our Tarheels (go champs) and saw a new dog on one of the stand menus that was just right for this area. it was called a BBQ Dog! it was a hot dog, mustard, and chopped bbq pork all on a bun. my husband wanted to try but i wasnt quite ready to stomach it.

Congratulations on your new endeavor! My favorite meal is hot dogs! Love em! Love em with mustard and onions, love em with mustard, onions and chili, love em just plain, love with just mustard. I guess I just love em any old way! Except with kraut - can't go that way!:sad2:
They are also DD favorit meal but she eats hers with Miracle whip - not mayo, Miracle whip.:lmao: So does DH. What is up with that! When you order them with Miracle whip (or mayo) in a restaurant, you should see the looks people give you!:rotfl2:
Hope you are a huge success.:thumbsup2

WOW, you just made me hungry for a hotdog with chili, cheese, onions, mustard and jalapenos, yum yum. Heartburn on a bun, but soooooooooo good :lovestruc.

Wow, congrats on the new restraunt. Gotta love a good hot dog. Prayers for lots of business!

Those are wonderful news!! I'm pretty sure that you will be very successful in this new endeavour. Nevertheless, I'll ask for any special help that you may need in your new business :)

Please don’t forget to send us photos of both, the restaurant and the inauguration!!

Best wishes,

Luis

Congrats on the new business Alan! I will be praying for success.:goodvibes Will you still be going to WDW?

OMG I just thought of this great documentary you have to see. It's called "A Hot Dog Program." My husband is a fine dining Chef but has a junk food obsession. He loves sandwiches, hot dogs, subs, etc. Anyways, i ordered him these documentaries, one was the Hot Dog Program and the other was one called "Sandwiches that you will Like." I had seen it at the Savannah Film Festival a couple of yrs back in Savannah, GA. If you are interested in seeing it, let me know & i can mail you a dvd. they sent me two when i ordered it for some reason. and god knows i dont need two hot dog docs...

Alan, this is great!! You can get a good feel for dogs from all over the country right here on DIS. My mom is from NC and we lived there for a while and we love chili and slaw on our hotdogs!! In NJ, the boardwalk dog for me has potatoes (like home fries) on it! Ya gotta feature a boardwalk dawg!! I may have to take a trip to the BF DAWG restaurant. Blessings to you and prayers for a successful business venture. :thumbsup2

From right now, we are at 38 DAYS!!   (That's right, little banana boy...shake what yo mama gave ya!)

You are getting so close! :yay: And :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: at the banana boy comment!!

That sounds AWESOME! It sounds like something that would be featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives". YUMMY! Minnesotans are pretty conservative with their dogs, grilled with ketchup and mustard and some pickle relish. "Wild" people do onions and kraut!

I like 'em loaded, like a Portilios in Chicago. Drool.

Oh definitely!! I would say this place is "race fan friendly." For our decor, we intend to have different themed tables....all of which would evoke an appetite for hot dogs. For instance, there will be a Coney Island table, a NY sidewalk cart table, a Six Flags table, an Atlanta Braves table, a circus-themed table, a Talladega Superspeedway table, etc. All of these places, (at least in my mind,) remind me of how much I LOVE hot dogs!

Good luck with the new business!

Thanks, Lessa! Look forward to meeting you in about 4 weeks.

Hahaha...thanks Christine. Yes, DS is excited about this venture...although he and DW do not eat hot dogs! (How weird is that? He's a 12-yr-old boy whose favorite food is sea scallops, but will not eat a hot dog!)

I will scan our proposed menu and post it.

I've been a long time lurker and loved your last trip report as I am loving your current pre trip report. Hey! So glad you came out of lurkdom! :cool1: Do you know about the DISers MAMMOTH MAY MEET? There are a bunch of us on these boards that are meeting up on Sunday, May 17th at 3pm in the France Pavilion at Epcot! We've even got t-shirts and everything! We are expected about 40 - 50 people. If you happen to be available, come by and join us.

YUM YUM i love me some dogs. now us North Carolinians like our dogs w/ mustard, slaw, chili & onions. consider that some easy research for your knew "dogs around the country" menu. Yep, you Carolinians know your hot dogs! I was recently on a business trip Chapel Hill (go champs) and stopped in Greenville, SC around lunchtime. I stumbled upon a place called "Skin's Hot Dogs." GREAT hot dog!...and just like you said, mustard, onions, and chili. Our signature hot dog will be called, "The Classic" which comes with mustard, onions, and chili. We will also have two other basic offerings: "The Ballpark" with ketcup, mustard, and sweet relish, and "The Deep South" with mustard, onions and either coleslaw OR sauerkraut.

On the BBQ dog, we are calling it "The Memphis." Again, I will post a picture of the menu so you'll get a better idea.

Congratulations on your new endeavor! My favorite meal is hot dogs! Love em! Love em with mustard and onions, love em with mustard, onions and chili, love em just plain, love with just mustard. I guess I just love em any old way! Except with kraut - can't go that way!:sad2:

I must admit - I have ALWAYS been a hot dog junkie! This is terrible, but I couldn't wait until DS got old enough to play organized sports.....so that we could go watch his games and visit the concession stand for a hot dog!

Hmmm...Miracle Whip...interesting!

Thanks for the great wishes! It is a huge risk, but we just feel like the time is right to do this....almost as if we as supposed to do this.

WOW, you just made me hungry for a hotdog with chili, cheese, onions, mustard and jalapenos, yum yum. Heartburn on a bun, but soooooooooo good :lovestruc.

:lmao: :rotfl2: Yes, something tells me that my acid reflux situation is in serious jeopardy!

Wow, congrats on the new restraunt. Gotta love a good hot dog. Prayers for lots of business!

Thanks, Mary! Look forward to meeting you and your family in about 4 weeks!

Those are wonderful news!! I'm pretty sure that you will be very successful in this new endeavour. Nevertheless, I'll ask for any special help that you may need in your new business :)

THanks, Luis. That is a GREAT idea about the photos. We need to take lots of "before" photos and "after" photos. I will definitely post them here! Hope all is well with you and you family, and thanks for the best wishes.

Congrats on the new business Alan! I will be praying for success.:goodvibes Will you still be going to WDW?

Thanks, TigerKat! Oh absolutely we are still going to WDW!! Wouldn't miss it! In fact, with this new endeavor, we had better really, really enjoy this trip....it could be the last one we take for quite a while.

OMG I just thought of this great documentary you have to see. It's called "A Hot Dog Program." My husband is a fine dining Chef but has a junk food obsession. Ooo, I would LOVE to see that DVD! I'll pm you my address. THanks!

Kudos to your husband!! I am a bonafide "foodie" with a taste for just about anything - but I have to admit I've always been a hot dog junkie.

Congrats Alan! I've always wanted to own a Hot Dog place!

Really? How cool! DW & I have discussed many different small business ideas over the years, but this one just seems to be right. Hey, if nothing else, I can GUARANTEE that I'll have one loyal customer! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

Absolutely. I'm going to post our tentative menu and get some feedback from everyone. Thanks for the prayers and kind words!

I KNEW Brook would like my idea!!! From reading your trippies, I know you are all about some Casey's Hot Dogs at MK! Bet you would love B.F. Dawgs.

You are absolutely right on the money with the "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" comment. That show has inspired us! We also like "Man vs. Food" on the Travel Channel....which will spawn a new challenge for our customers; anyone who can eat 16 of our Classic hot dogs in one hour without getting up gets a free t-shirt and their picture on the wall!

Your Minnesotan dog will be called "The Ballpark" at our restaurant.
