Team Renfroe - Pre-Trip Report for May 15-22, 2009 **Final Chapter**

Oh my gosh! I have been out of pocket since Saturday and it looks like I have missed so much! I may have to go back and rethink my whole strategy! :confused3 But I have the ADRs I wanted :headache:

Glad to see you're going to TL/BB. We had wicked fun at each last September. They were among our favorite activities. It really is the perfect way to break up your trip, especially in hot weather.

We almost always do morning EMH! We're like you - those first couple of hours are so worth it!!! Then we get out of there around lunchtime. We just did this on our most recent trip at DHS and the park was empty until about 11, so we left after lunch and went to Epcot which had evening EMH the night before so it was great!
hey karajeboo!
We do the EMH in the a.m. too and knock out so many rides before the huge crowds get there. With the exception of TSM, we have done most of the biggies and are ready to move on to another park by the time the EMH park gets really crowded. Now, the evening EMH, we haven't found to be very helpful, have you? maybe because we are so tired fromthe morning? :rotfl2: I know in February, we did the EMH evening at Epcot and you couldn't stir those people with a stick! and Epcot is dark, really dark when it is late at night (why don't they have more lights over by The Land?) so it makes it seem even more crowded to me! And the shops were crazy! After about an hour, I packed it in and went back to WL.
But we don't have small kids so getting up early is not a problem for us. My husband and adult daughter love it when I get up at 6:00 singing "It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood!" hey, that is my traditional way of waking everybody up at Disney and has been forever. They should be used to it by now, right?
You know how I know they love that song? They start throwing pillows. Now why else would they want to start the day with a pillow fight?:rotfl:

57 days and counting to the World!!

Great- now you and Alan are about to throw off my bazillion ADR schedule because you are telling me that by noon - EMHs are so worth it. We'll probably be heading out of the park after our noon lunch for a nap.

Are you seriously doing this to me guys?
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I agree that doing morning EMH can work out great IF you have park hoppers and can get out of there early. If you don't you will get stuck in busy afternoon crowds.

Yep! In and out early. Move on to the next park! It is amazing to me that so many people just don't want to get up early on their vacation. Go figure!:confused3

Oh no!!!! I am so bummed out right now!!! I wont be there in May. Travis leave got changed. Have I ever told you how much I HATE the US Army???? Grrrrrrr!!! I really need a crying smily!!!

I think I'd rather see Off Kilter.

Me too!! Colin loved them. Hopefully they'll be on for our UK :drinking1: portion of the MMM on the 17th.

We're certainly not going out of our way to hear Jose Feliciano. I hear enough Feliz Navidad from November 1 to December 31 to last me all year and then some. :lmao:

We are looking at May 15-22. Here is our basic touring plan:
May 16 - DHS
May 17 - Epcot
May 18 - AK
May 19 - MK
May 20 - TL/BB
May 21 - Epcot
May 22 - DHS (SWW)

Looks like we could run into you a few times. We're park hopping everyday.
May 17 for the MMM at EP (obviously)
May 18 AK am (am EMH)
May 19 MK pm (CP dinner)
May 20 BB/TL (we have Ohana BF planned, and then we're getting on the first water park bus that comes no matter which water park it is! - but I hope its TL)
May 22 DHS for SWW (Sci-Fi Lunch)
:goodvibes

And thanks for the info on UG.

My plans are so set though that I'm not sure if UG (or TGM) would make me change them at this point, but seeing you have some of the same things on your plan I'm thinking we will do o.k. :)

We plan on doing many of the am EMH's hitting some favorites (FP one or two) and getting out of dodge. Back to WL for a break, then off again.

The shirt looks great! That is hilarious about the thong...:rotfl2:

I am for sure out...my co-worker is visiting her sister, something it would take a LOT for her to cancel, plus, we have officially made family plans for that weekend (which will be a lot of fun, we are going to Wisconsin Dells!). I can't wait to read all about it and see the big group shot!!

Darn! We were hopeful that we'd get to meet you, Brooke. Oh well, that will just give us an excuse to set up another meet at another time, right?

Good morning all!
Alan the concert I am seeing is a different oneto Jose !! I can't remember who it is Will have to check which thred made arrangements on???:lmao:

Ooh, let me know if you find out something different. I would love to see a classic concert, but Feliciano is not my cup of tea.

Whew....that's great to hear! It has worked for us so far to do AM EMH. It's tough to get everyone up early and out to the parks, but if we just get up and go....and don't worry about getting ready until later in the day, we can get to the parks, do everything we want to do, go to our lunch ADR, and be back at the resort by 2pm at the latest. Then, we have the entire afternoon to swim, visit the waterparks, get showers, get ready for dinner, etc.

I agree Alan. We've even gotten to an am EMH park by 9am and still gotten ALOT accomplished by noon-1pm.

As for pm EMH parks - unless it's MK and it's open past 1am, I avoid them. We've tried DHS on a pm EMH night and it was a nightmare - long waits for everything!

That's great to hear. I'm sticking with the strategy. Also, that is very interesting about PM EMH everywhere other than MK. I'll certainly keep that in mind.

I am a bit bummed...nothing beats WDW...but I am excited about the Dells too! We are going with some close friends and celebrating our birthdays. Should be a great time with the kids. :goodvibes

Hope you all have a GREAT time!!! We'll be sure to include ALL the information about the meet in our trip report....with lots of pictures, of course!

Oh my gosh! I have been out of pocket since Saturday and it looks like I have missed so much! I may have to go back and rethink my whole strategy! :confused3 But I have the ADRs I wanted :headache:

Nah....don't worry about it. You sound like me, getting all stressed out over some small detail. Fortunately, I've got by DISbuddies to back me up! From the previous few posts, it sounds like our strategy should be just fine.

Glad to see you're going to TL/BB. We had wicked fun at each last September. They were among our favorite activities. It really is the perfect way to break up your trip, especially in hot weather.

We all went to TL last May, but ended up leaving after only 3 hours when DD started feeling sick. Later in the week, DS & I went to BB, but only had less than 2 hours. However, we enjoyed BOTH waterparks VERY MUCH!! I can't wait to go back to both! Crush 'N Gusher at TL was one of my favorite rides at ANY Disney park!

hey karajeboo!

Sounds like we are all pretty unanimous on the strategy of taking advantage of AM EMH, then leaving the park in the afternoon. Also, sounds like we should avoid PM EMHs, unless at MK. Got it.

Our DHS plan is to arrive for opening at 8am (EMH). We are going to send DD & DW to TSM to get Fastpasses for all four of us. Then, DW & DD can ride TSM standby while DS & I head straight for RnRC and ToT. We plan to meet back up with the girls and use our FP for TSM. Hopefully, we can accomplish all of this by 9:30am or so.

LOL!!! I LOVE the fact that the fmaily starts throwing pillows at you early in the morning! My DW is a morning person also. As I get older, I am getting better about mornings, but as a musician I generally do not like getting up early. However, as you stated, IT'S DISNEY WORLD!!! WAKE UP!! you can sleep in when you're back at home! :cool1:

Great- now you and Alan are about to throw off my bazillion ADR schedule because you are telling me that by noon - EMHs are so worth it. We'll probably be heading out of the park after our noon lunch for a nap.

Are you seriously doing this to me guys?
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That is just like me to go messing with someone's ADR schedule!! :rotfl:  No, seriously, when we were putting together our ADRs and trying to decide what park to visit on what day, I did sort of calculate a few AM EMHs in the mix. On our trip, we will be doing AM EMHs at DHS on 5-16 and AK on 5-18. Otherwise, we are not really taking advantage of any of the other EMHs.

I agree that doing morning EMH can work out great IF you have park hoppers and can get out of there early. If you don't you will get stuck in busy afternoon crowds.

Hi Lessa! Yes, we are not all about those afternoon crowds. Even though we don't have park hoppers, we DO have the waterparks and more package. Therefore, when a park starts to get crowded in the afternoons, we either go back to our resort pool and swim, or go to one of the waterparks or DisneyQuest.

Yep! In and out early. Move on to the next park! It is amazing to me that so many people just don't want to get up early on their vacation. Go figure!:confused3

My regular work day starts at 8am anyway. Our children's school starts at 8am also. SO, we are all used to waking up at 6:30am anyway. Therefore, it really isn't a big deal to leave a 6:30am wakeup call, get up, and get going! Also, we are all well aware that we can always come back for that afternoon nap if we would like.

Oh no!!!! I am so bummed out right now!!! I wont be there in May. Travis leave got changed. Have I ever told you how much I HATE the US Army???? Grrrrrrr!!! I really need a crying smily!!!

OH NO!!! Darn - so sorry to hear that. We were really looking forward to meeting you and your family, but of course we understand. You'll just have to read our trip reports and check out our pictures!!! I'm assuming this means that you WON'T be purchasing a thong?

Me too!! Colin loved them. Hopefully they'll be on for our UK :drinking1: portion of the MMM on the 17th.

Dude, great minds think alike! It would be pretty awesome to have our :drinking1 at R&C and enjoy an Off-Kilter performance. Maybe that will work out! I am a HUGE Beatles fan, so I'm all about Off-Kilter. In fact, I may aspire to be a member of that band when I retire from my "real" job! :rotfl:

Cool...sounds like your plans are very similar to ours. While you are having dinner at CP at MK, DS & I will be having dinner at Tony's. Maybe just "us guys" can go over to Tomorrowland and ride Buzz Lightyear or something after dinner.

We are having lunch at Sci-Fi also, but on 5-16. When we go back to DHS on 5-22, we plan to eat at Mama Melrose....but that's tentative. We would prefer to leave the park and go to DTD for lunch on that day. We are contemplating eating at WP for lunch. However, we went ahead and made the ADR at Mama Melrose in case we are having such at great time at the SWW event that we decide not to leave. I'm sure we'll see you all at the SWW stuff. We'll be the ones taking all the pictures of EVERYTHING!!! (I'll be the one pledging my undying love to Queen Amadala, and DS will the one flirting with Asoaka!!)

I totally agree with you on UG and TGM. I really, really like the plans we have made, and I don't think the info from either source is going to change my plans at this point. We'll make the best of it....big crowds or not!

i everyone just popping in before I hit the sack!!!

Hi Rosie! Hope all is well with you.

OH NO!!! Darn - so sorry to hear that. We were really looking forward to meeting you and your family, but of course we understand. You'll just have to read our trip reports and check out our pictures!!! I'm assuming this means that you WON'T be purchasing a thong?

:scared1: Thong.....ahhhh not I....I am SO not into butt floss!!!:rolleyes1
Now a t-shirt.... lol just think, 10 years from now no one will ever remember if I was really there or not!! Heck if everyone does a trip report and posts a LOT of picture I will feel like I was there lol.
Just kidding! I am very disappointed but very thrilled that Travis will get to see WDW for the first time and be with his family!! We are definately blessed!!
I'll look forward to yours, Rosies, Cammies and all the other trippies!!!

Alan I found it on my thread (ptr) The band is 5th Dimension !!!!and it is the Friday I am going to meet another Disser !!!

Darn! We were hopeful that we'd get to meet you, Brooke. Oh well, that will just give us an excuse to set up another meet at another time, right?

Hope you all have a GREAT time!!! We'll be sure to include ALL the information about the meet in our trip report....with lots of pictures, of course!

Exactly! Another trip, another time! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to read all about the meet!!!

I just found your PTR and noticed that we will be at WDDW the same week!! I also noticed that you are from Jacksonville, AL--I've actually been there several times. My sister-in-law used to live there and actually took some classes at JSU in order to finish up her teaching degree (had previously gone to U. of Alabama). My dh and his family are from Jasper--we visit his parents quite often. Anywho, are you a BAMA fan?! We are huge BAMA fans!! Roll tide!!

Alan,

At Allearsnet.com they have posted a PDF file with the full (official) schedule and info about Epcot's Flower & Garden Festival.

Bad news. I'm afraid that José Feliciano is posted for May 15th-17th. On the other hand, they have Chubby Checker for May 1-3!! THAT is someone I would like to see...

Best wishes to you and yours,

Luis
