Team 'Ohana 2009: No One Left Behind

Aloha Team Ohana!

I am still not adjusting well to all the Daylight Savings changes. I haven't worked out since Saturday. I'm still treatless, but it helps less when you don't move :lmao: I was so with it last week, I guess I just fell apart. I'm determined to get back on Mr. Ed and plod along. Maybe I should be on Francis the talking mule, that's a more appropos image...:rotfl2:

Jeanne -- Jamie is definitely my 2nd favorite hottie redheaded Scotsman, and I've never even seen him! ;) Thanks for the very detailed race report. I'm so sorry you didn't Beat the Greek, but all things considered, we are so proud of you! :grouphug:

Corinna -- Rest and feel better! You wouldn't be doing anyone any good if you tried to work out when you're  I hope the cough magically disappears pixiedust:

Richard -- I agree with you, I have to count my DIS time as mental health. It's definitely a stress reliever! :badpc:

Jackie -- I totally understand about Outlander. It's very hard to put it down! On the bright side, you have 3 more to read when you're done, plus two short Lord John books, lucky you! :woohoo:

Debra -- Excellent news on the mental health front! My boss gave us all rather belated Christmas gifts today -- $50 gift cards to Borders. I'm actually intending to spend the entire thing on me, I never do that! :sad2:

Julie -- Are you getting up at 5 am without me? I promise I'll be joining you soon! ::yes::

Shoutouts to all the cousin buddies -- Mel, Christa, Jen, JenB, JenG, Kathy, Nancy, Denny, DOOD (can we call you Mark, or do you prefer DOOD?), Marci, Kerry -- and everyone else! :teleport:

I've watched 7 episodes of TNG, and I'm firmly entrenched in my Wesley ire. I just don't think it's going to go away. Sigh. I was actually willing him off to Starfleet Academy, even though I know it's a long wait. If I remember correctly, I'm going to have my hopes dashed because the first time he's supposed to leave he doesn't...Beverly is getting on my nerves, too. Bring on Dr. Pulaski!

Maria :upsidedow

Hey cousins!!! I figure if I post this here it makes me accountable in some way so...

We had a great time at the PH this weekend and I feel like I'm doing an ok job of meeting my racing goals. The weight loss goal has been tougher, so I'm now officially tying the two together:

By marathon weekend in 2010 I want to be 40lbs lighter and 40 min faster than last year (the 40 min sounds extreme, but I was sick as a dog and way slower than I should have been).

I figure the natural half way step in this goal is to be 20 lbs lighter and 20 min faster at the DL 1/2. That gives me until Sept to lose at least 20 lbs and shave off another 4 min from my Princess time (DL last year my time was 2:59 and the race this weekend I did 2:43).

There, I've posted the goal, now I have to stick to it. Help keep me honest cousins, thanks in advance

Hi Cousins!

I felt so blah I got on the TM and did today's 4 miles, then I got on the bike and did Sunday's 35 minutes. I'm hoping to repeat the same thing tomorrow morning. Right now I'm about 7 miles behind on this week, so probably not going to catch up...but at least I'm moving again!

JenB -- Those sound like great goals! If there is one thing people should do to lose weight (I know there are tons), but with your training (not giving medical advice, etc.), what one thing are you most going to work on to achieve your goal?

Happy trails, I'm off to slumberland!
Maria

Hello, Cousins! I'll try to catch up tomorrow. There's sooo much to catch up on! :goodvibes

And I'll be looking for those of you who haven't yet given me your February #s. At least to find out if you're not tracking and here for the social experience, have gone on injured reserve, etc.

But for now, I was updating my Google calendar and I realized I don't have everyone's birthdays. Inquiring minds want to know! popcorn::

Maria: Good question. I think for me the weight loss will come when I change my attitude about food. I tend to view food or going out to dinner as a reward and that leads to over eating. I'm going to try to think of food as fuel, not a treat. My big downfall seems to be portion sizes and doing things like finishing food left on my daughter's plate. I'm not a real big snacker although avoiding junk food at work is a challenge (as I type this someone just brought in a huge plate of fantastic looking chocolate covered pretzels). So for me I'm going to try to eat only when I'm really hungry and stop when I'm full avoiding taking extra stuff and bites from DD's food. It all comes down to eat less and move more-- the way to personally make the equation work differs for everyone but somehow I need to burn more than I take in and I don't think I can up my exercise anymore...

Jackie: So now both you AND Maria are offering the Outlander peer pressure. Okay, I cave, I cave. :rotfl2: I definitely want something a little fun after finishing Middlemarch (turned out better than I thought, but it took 350 pages to pick up) and beginning Rebecca. Which I'm sure I will love. :goodvibes As for The Dark Knight...if you don't like clowns I can't imagine you enjoyed it at all! The Joker is every child's worst nightmare! :scared1: I repeat, The Dark Knight was robbed at the Oscars. Plus, I love Chris Nolan's work, notably Memento.

Jeanne: You've had a couple of days now. Sure you're not going to reconsider Goofy? ;) If you're doing the 1/2 in January, how do you feel about doing that final overpass? Ugh, right? I'm just amazed at how well you did on the race, especially given the multitude of things going against you. The pain, of course, but also the lack of sleep & wake-up call, the interrupted training, etc. I didn't even know you were having foot pain after January--you're such a tough cookie. I'm so glad there were so many supports, on the course and as spectators, to help you through. I think I'm a little in love with Chester after reading all the RRs. And of course I'm glad we had a strong family presence! :thumbsup2 How did John do, btw?

Richard: I hope you enjoyed yesterday's massage. Great to see you posting on Hakuna Matata--wasn't their dog social fun? I'll definitely have to try out Panera for breakfast. It's my favorite meal of the day for some reason.

Maura: :rotfl2: Didn't even think of that when I asked. Really!

Corinna: So sorry to hear how sick you've been. No fun, no fun at all. It sounds like you haven't even been well enough to enjoy the comforts of lying around doing nothing. That's one of the few pleasures of being sick, and that's been taken from you. You've been robbed, I tell you, robbed!

Maria: Remember to hug yourself for remaining treatless. And get thee over to the Lean Meaners--we'll make you feel better. Okay, Beth will probably make you feel guilty. She's doing amazing with her daily workouts. She makes me feel guilty, though, and I need the company. Plus, you know you feel better when you post your activity in multiple places. :yay: You should definitely spend your GC just on yourself--that's a little serendipity between the Mixer question and your life! Soooo sorry that your feelings for Weasley--oops Wesley--haven't changed. It confirms we're soul sisters, though. Beverly was another I was always lukewarm about.

JenB: I like the simplicity in the 40-40 goals. (But 40 minutes--wow!) It also breaks down nicely with the DL 1/2. You're going for the Coast-to-Coast Medal, I assume? I just know you can meet your goals. So, in terms of accountability, since you asked, and in terms of portion sizes....are you journaling your intake anywhere? I've gone back to SparkPeople. (Slunk back, that is.) I think your focus on food is smart, btw, as we only have so many hours in the day in which to exercise.

Speaking of Jens, do I have to go track down my others? Jen, JenG, come on over here! Remember Jen, you asked for it! :rolleyes1

Still looking for February numbers from Christa and Marcy! I'm a little worried about them, as I haven't seen either around lately.

As for me: I noticed the other day that I put my cats on a diet the same day I went on one, officially. They've lost more than I have so far....someone hasn't been as committed to her own weight loss. :rolleyes1 Her cats, however, are much healthier. And it looks like I won't lose any weight this week, even though my #s on Sparkpeople say I should. I'd kick a pebble and say, "Not fair, not fair," but that doesn't burn enough calories.

Jeanne - Strangely enough, that last overpass during the half was my strongest (read fastest) mile! I guess all the hills in Raleigh paid off. Everyone around me was dying, and I somehow found a last burst of energy. Based on the hills that I know you've trained on, I'm sure if you hadn't had all the foot problems, you would have had a similar easy time with it!

Jeanne/Maria - I truly have to tear myself away from Outlander (okay, I admit it, it's really Jamie the hottie redhead) to find time to post. Running is falling by the wayside until the book is finished. And now that Maria's told me there are 4 more, 'Ohana may have to wait until at least mid-April to get any significant mileage from me!

Debra - You MUST cave. I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a book this much! I was reading Jude the Obscure in an attempt to increase my book count on the Facebook/BBC list, but it quickly went by the wayside once Outlander arrived at the library.

Back to the book. 125 pages to go...

Speaking of Jens, do I have to go track down my others? Jen, JenG, come on over here! Remember Jen, you asked for it! :rolleyes1

Here! Here! Jen G is here, coach! :wave2:

I've been way too busy vacationing at various Disney destinations this past month. Went to Disneyland with a bunch of Disboard ladies this past weekend. Eating was way bad, but I did walk and walk and walk. And I'm happy to report that I'm officially back on program this week: weight training, running, pilates and I'm even trying to watch my weight. I've officially committed to losing 10 pounds by my 40th birthday. So, I'm back on board!

And I'm getting a group of the same Disboard ladies to join the Disneyland 5k and half marathon at DL in September. Now who from this team is going to be there? Someone on the extended podcast team is trying to see if we can link into the DIS Podcast and GKTW, like they're doing for the 2010 WDW marathon.

Sorry I'm having a hard time keeping up with the posts. I'll do better with that too!

-Jen

Well, I'm struggling back to the land of the living. I am starting to feel mostly human again, at least. Debra, you're right that I could not even enjoy those days of doing nothing. They were too miserable and loopy and exhausted. Now that the fever is gone, though, and it seems I'm just working on clearing the system of gunk :sad2: I may be able to get back to some "easy" training this weekend.

JenB - I can see myself doing 20-20 by the DL half, but 40-40? I'm not sure I have that in me! I guess you never know if you don't try. And I hear ya on those tidbits from a child's plate. It's an occupational hazard, I guess.

JenG - I am definitely leaning strongly toward the DL half (for that C2C medal) but what does GKTW stand for? I have no earthly idea....

Jackie - let us know when the book lets you out for air again!

Maria - oh, that's right. Wesley's near departure gone horribly wrong. Did you watch the one with the ditzy blond joggers with the REALLY stringent rules, once a day? That is a family favorite. "Can you run??? :flower3: Yes, I can run!! Let's Run!!!" I can not believe you are looking forward to Pulaski, though! It always bugged the bajeepers out of me when she would say "Data" wrong.

Debra - My birthday: November 4. Also, way to get back to Sparkpeople. Tracking is a beast (not a beast with two backs, but a beast, nevertheless!) but it makes such a world of difference. Are you weighing in tomorrow?

Corinna: glad to hear you are feeling a bit better, winter colds are the pits. DH and I will be at the DL 1/2, the lure of the C2C medal is too great  GKTW is the Give Kids the World village a place for ill kids to stay when going on a Make-a-Wish trip to the Orlando area. It's a really cool place that does great work for sick kids and their families.

My 20-20 goal seems really doable to me-- the 40-40 is a bit more of a stretch, but the 40lbs is my true wt loss goal and it would seem wrong to be 40lbs lighter and not be able to run faster too. I'm only 5 ft tall, so 40 is a big % of my total weight. The fact that I would be nearly 1/3 lighter and not hacking up a lung next Jan should make the goal attainable.

Here are a few pics from the Princess:

What's with the DIS today? Glacially slow, and frustrating. :confused3

Jackie: How's this for my own little personal purgatory. Outlander has come into the library now, but I might not be able to pick it up until Sunday. I know you'll be finished by then. And I can't pick up Rebecca until then either.

Maria and Jeanne: You know how high my expectations are. Not quite Star Wars: Phantom Menace pre-1999 high, but pretty high. :rotfl2:

Maria: I don't think DOOD will answer your question, as he doesn't read/post here. But I say call him whatever you'd like. I can't believe he gave up his real name. And now gives me stories to post. Ah, he cannot resist my womanly wiles....

JenG: Ahhhh, nice to know my drill-sergeant voice carries. :lmao: That's so fabulous that you had a mini-DIS meet at DL. What a great place to connect with virtual friends. Good to hear you're on track and with a goal for your 40th. And when will your birthday be?

I'd love to go to DL for the 5K or 1/2. Just not sure it will happen. The problem with me and DOOD is that our schedules don't really allow for a lot of advance planning. It's on the list of events, though, and it sounds like this year would be a good year to go, with you and JenB going. Maybe Corinna. And, of course, your other DISboard friends, who are obviously women of good taste. :thumbsup2 Plus there's the C2C to go for. *sigh*

Corinna: Your illness must have been especially frustrating, what with the no training and all. I know you've been doing a fabulous job with your BL/weight loss, and the working out. You'll get back in the swing of things in no time. "Beast with two backs." Your literary cred is showing. Can I track that activity? ;)

JenB: Great pictures of you and Butch and Jeanne and John. Okay, so I wasn't processing this until your latest post. 40 pounds?? No way do you need to lose 40 pounds. I'd forgotten that you're "only" 5 feet--seriously, I remember you as much taller, closer to my height. (Maybe it's the Butch connection. He's tall, right?) I know we all carry weight differently, but are you sure have that much to even lose? Tell me to mind my own business, but know it's because I care.

Denny: Just so you know, I trash-talked your son on the Rebel Alliance thread. Called him a youngster and told him to bring it on. :rotfl:

Julie: Where are you?

Monday Mixer Questions: I'll be going with Maria's question about favorite characters unless a cousin who hasn't asked a mixer question has one. Or if you have a running/walking/training/fueling question that you would like to benefit from getting others' input. You know I like to spread the love.

As for me: I weighed myself today. Down another pound, for 3/5 for the month. I was as surprised as you are. My cats have still lost more, though...

Hi Team!
Well, I'm back into training today after several days of injury recovery. It seems that I inadvertantly twisted my knee Monday and I wanted to let it heal up before the weekend. Today I was back in the gym doing some weight training. Tomorrow will be time spent biking, either on the road or in the gym, depending upon the weather.

Corinna - You should try Panera for breakfast. It's not exactly fancy, but some pretty good, and healthy, choices.

Debra - Yes, the massage was good, just too short. As for breakfast, it is the most important meal of the day!

...and to all the Ender fans, I've finally gotten through Shadow of the Giant in my reread of the series (although it was my first read on the last two Shadow books).

Corinna - I second Richard's recommendation. Panera has excellent breakfasts, no matter whether you want healthy or decadent!

Debra - I actually own a copy of Rebecca that came out along with the movie. (Obviously it belonged to my mom...) Finished Outlander last night, but with mixed emotions. Glad to reach the end, but sorry it was over! Went to the library website and requested the next 4, but as luck would have it the 4th book is already available. Guess I'll go check it out and hang on to it until 2 and 3 show up. Back to Jude the Obscure... or dreaming about Jamie and who should play him if they ever get around to a film version...

Was scheduled to meet the group for 10 miles tomorrow morning, but the forecast is for 40 and a steady downpour. Most of the group has opted to stay inside, so it looks like it may be a TM day. Now the question becomes just how long can I hold out on the TM? I think I have episodes of "Brothers & Sisters," "Bones," and "Dancing with the Stars" still in the DVR, so I just might be able to get the full 10 miles in!

Jackie

Hi to all my cousins. I thought I would stop in and give you a first hand update since my surgery. The good news it that there was no cancer in my lymph nodes and there was no remaining cancer in my breast. Apparently it was so small that the biopsy actually removed it all, but the treatment plan would have been the same no matter what mastectomy and breast reconstruction since this was a recurrence. I still have to see the oncologist in a week to get the final game plan. It was a big surgery taking nearly 7 hrs and the first couple of days were rough, but I am doing much better now. I don't have alot of pain and only take pain medication at night time. I started to take walks outside and am up to a 1 mile walk. We usually take the dog so she is getting some exercise also. Each day I feel I am getting stronger, but it will take me awhile to get back to my baseline that is for sure. Beth (creativebeth) has been so good about taking care of me and my family with frequent phone calls and making meals for us. I told her my family is going to hire her as our personal chef as she is much better at cooking and baking than I am. I have also had several other friends drop off food all of which has been so appreciated. The stronger I get the more difficult it will be to stay being a good patient but for now am pretty much following the rules and just doing light things around the house and reading I already read 3 books last week. Thanks to everyone for their get well wishes and cards. Jeanne and I have spoken several times and we are already planning our May vacation with them.

Congratulations to everyone who have had races and weight loss.

I will try to check in more frequently.

Nancy

Nancy: It's great to hear from you and even more wonderful to hear the cancer is gone. Keep strong, I know you'll be back to yourself in no time with the determination you have.

NANCY!!! Great to have you back! I'm so glad to hear your good news.

I need some book recommendations...I have some credits on frugalreader.com to spend and haven't come up with anything. I'm also on paperbackswap.com now.

Maria...Wesley Crusher was sooooo annoying. That one episode with Ashley Judd where the whole ship was playing that VR game always bugged me.

Corinna...how are you feeling?

Debra...I don't mind putting my numbers in the spreadsheet. What do you need me to do?

Jackie...how did your run turnout?

Richard...how's the knee?

Richard: What did you think of Shadow of the Giant? I liked it more than some of the other in the Ender series (was lukewarm on the Shadow of the Hegemon, for instance). I was particularly interested in how it fleshed out the political alliances and strategies. I also like how, like Ender's Shadow, it challenges the reader's previous perspectives of who is central in this universe. That's what I like about sci fi in general, the fleshing out of a world unlike and yet similar to our own, and that challenges my perspectives. Anyway, I realized that I haven't read A War of Gifts and skipped to Ender in Exile! I must get on that right away.

Jackie, Jeanne, Maria, etc.: What do you like about the Outlander series, as specific as you can get without spoilers? I just picked it up this afternoon, have yet to read it, and am curious. I sense that Jaime is a big draw...:rotfl2: Is it the characters? The plot? This history? The general idea of time travel? Inquiring minds want to know.

Jackie: How did your 10-miles on the TM go? I'm finding it really hard work on the TM these days, which is really strange, and cringed at the thought. What did you watch?

Nancy: So glad to see you back--was wondering but figured you'd be back when ready. I'm so, so happy that there is so much good news coming out of this awful situation. That's great, great news about the biopsies. I was worried about the lymph nodes, for all the reasons you're aware of. And you're recuperating quite well, and walking a great deal already. I'm so glad Beth is taking good care of you--maybe she needs to have a 2nd career as a personal chef--and that you have a May vacation with Jeanne in the planning stages.

Mel: If you PM the email you'd like to use, I can give you access to the spreadsheet. (Don't ask me HOW I set it up like that with Google documents, but that's what I did.) So, it sounds like things have settled down for you, post Princess. Some good recovery time, then on to more biking and dualthon training? Reading recommendations, reading recommendations....:scratchin I'll let others speak to Outlander (see above). Can't recommend Middlemarch--tried it, finished it, gonna see the movie, but can't recommend it. :rotfl2: What are you in the mood for? I checked out Rebecca, by Daphne Du Maurier, which lots of people, including Jackie, love. I picked up a variety of books today, including (see below)....

Maria: I just checked out Joanna Fluke's Blueberry Muffin Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery. Do you know it? Cream Puff Murder was just released. I was intrigued by the concept of a foodie mystery series--you mentioned one earlier--and I picked it up. Takes place in Lake Eden, MN (not too far from you, Corinna?) and includes descriptions of food and recipes.

Kathy: So, I hear you met up with the cousins at the Princess. Assume you had a great time and are looking forward to CMM. Stories you'd like to share? We're listening!

As for me: I finally saw Wendy and Lucy this weekend. I'd missed it at the Pgh Filmmakers and had to wait until it came back to an arthouse cinema. It's an independent film directed by Kelly Reichardt and starring Michelle Williams. It made a lot of film critics' top films list, and so I was eager to see it. It's a fine, small film, and really does represent the strengths of independent film. Very minimalist and eschews a lot of Hollywood conventions, like heavy backstory or psychological justification for characters, soundtrack, Hollywood 3-point lighting, pacing. It's been linked with the Mumblecore filmmaking aesthetic, if anyone's interested. Anyway, I really liked Wendy and Lucy and would recommend those who want a change of pace to rent it. It's only 80 minutes, so even if it's not your cup of tea, it will be enlightening about those Hollywood conventions we take for granted. Jeanne, I'd really be interested in what your DS thinks about it as a filmmaker; I spent some time thinking about how this film was a good example of how a (fairly) low-budget film could be made.

In the WO/weight-loss front, I had a fairly successful weekend. My TM run on Saturday was more difficult than it should have been. And DOOD's knee is still bothering him, so he's spending far more time on the elliptical than he should; I'd nag him into seeing a doctor, but that would make me a hyprocrite. :rolleyes1 Oh, and there was an encounter with an extraordinarily tasty oatmeal-raisin cookie--one of my weaknesses, along with a good carrot cake. To my credit, I broke the cookie in half and shared it with DOOD. To my demerit, it was a HUGE cookie, which didn't help with my "I can stay on track this weekend" plan. Oh, well, that's the way the cookie crumbles. (And yes, I ate the crumbs.)

ETA: I'll be watching Kings tonight. Anyone else excited?

Happy Ides of March, Cousins! :lmao:

I did my 6 mi yesterday, and 35 min on the bike today. Tomorrow I plan to get up early and do 4 mi followed by another bike session. It's grueling, but I really feel like I did something. It is ever so slow, but it does seem to be working...

Debra --I'm a huge fan of Diana Gabaldon's use of details, and the way her characters come alive. The history is a big bonus for me. I do know the Joanna Fluke series, I'm on the waiting list for Cream Puff Murder. I like the heroine, and Lake Eden sounds like a great place to visit! I'm not giving anything away when I say I really didn't get the 2nd to last episode of BSG. I mean, I understood it, I just don't see how this is leading to wrapping up the series. My last Ronald D. Moore wrap up was TNG's "All Good Things", so I'm interested to see what he'll do with this much less friendly universe.

Mel -- We watched another "Wesley saves the ship" today. I'm remembering that's what made me most crazy. Could the ship not leave drydock without him?! :rolleyes1 Another fun food series is Katherine Hall Page's "The Body in the ...". They all start with that. The heroine is a caterer, and a minister's wife in suburban MA. It's easy to recognize some of the places that are familiar to Metro Boston folk -- well, heck, it's hard to mistake the name Walden Pond even if you're not local...anyway, very fun reads with murder and mystery.

Nancy! -- I did a fist pump in the air when I read your news! I am so grateful you are doing well -- if anyone deserves a wonderful vacation, it's you!

JenB -- Love the photos! :lovestruc Why don't I ever look that good or happy in pictures?! Sigh. I am not the photogenic type. But you are, truly awesome!

Corinna -- We just sent back the disc with the blond joggers -- that was not an easy one to watch with an 11 yr. old. Entirely too much "love play", but he was grossed out, so I guess that's good :confused3 . I had forgotten about "Dahta" instead of "Dayta". I'm just annoyed with Beverly's simpering, "Jean-Luc you must save my son" ever other episode...I'm eager to get to some Klingons, Borg, Romulans, Vulcans, you name it, bring on the fun aliens! :woohoo: Oh, and I'm also longing for that black tar pit to swallow Tasha Yar...:yay:

JenG -- I need to get on your schedule! Vacations keeping you from posting -- now that's the life! :cloud9:

Richard -- You are really tempting me to reread the Ender series. When I started the books I was an adolescent, and I'm wondering if I'll get something new out of reading it again. OSC seems to have so many levels, I wonder...:goodvibes

Julie -- Tomorrow I'll be up at 4:30 to make sure I have time to get the biking in, too -- I'll think of you 'cause I know you'll be up at 5 enjoying a lovely run! :thumbsup2

Heavens to Reagan Reilly! I realized I missed a Carol Higgins Clark, and her new one is almost out. I just started reading Zapped tonight.

Now for a Sunday School moment -- I was trying to get my 1st -3rd graders to make a little card where they wrote "I think about Jesus when", and one of the little darlings kept telling me he couldn't do it because he doesn't think about Jesus, and when I suggested he make it when he'd like to think about Jesus, he said he never wanted to think about Jesus. He doesn't pay attention, and he's always disruptive. This is the kid I am determined to reach. He also comes about once a quarter -- but I am determined I am going to teach him one thing this year, if it kills me! :teacher: I'm also trying to convince myself I really want to do this again next year, because frankly I think I'm burnt out. Three years might be my limit without a break... :scared:

Tomorrow we are interviewing a potential intern from Harvard. He says he does not need a paid internship, he just wants the experience. That is so far from my reality, I have a feeling our reality is going to be completely out of his experience. Helping the homeless sounds good, and is good, but it's rarely what people expect. We may all learn something -- I really hope that's in a good way...:wizard:

I'm toying with a literary idea -- thinking about reading Sherlock Holmes. What do you guys think? Would I like it? I loved all the Agatha Christie books, for whatever that's worth. Anyone know the title of the first book -- that's how lazy I'm being! :rotfl:

Ok, off to bed before I sit here way too late. Tomorrow I have a date for the International Seafood Show -- Dennis runs the City's booth, so I'm in (just for an hour)! You can't just walk in or buy a ticket, you have to either be a presenter or have some involvement in the seafood industry. That means there are tons of free samples of every seafood imaginable, and it is incredible! I am officially taking a day off from Lent and I will eat the fried seafood. I know, but I guess my ability to resist temptation has limits.

Everyone get ready for an awesome week!
Maria :upsidedow

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

Who or what is your favorite Disney character, and why?

Pictures--from races, trips, childhood--and stories are welcomed. And if your favorite character is a Pixar one--or gasp, from some other studio--feel free to share that as well.

.

No more vacations planned for me until September DL half, so I should be posting more often. :)

JenB and Corinna: Hope to see you both at DL half. I'll keep you posted if we get anything organized with DIS/GKTW. They're looking at tshirts and maybe some charity fundraising stuff, but as of now doesn't look like anything definite.

Nancy: So glad to hear your good news. Sending lots of healthy wishes your way for a speedy and complete recovery. :wizard: :wizard:

Debra: Oh, and my favorite Disney character...I'm gonna have to go with Mickey. Heh, it all started with the mouse! He's one that I just can not imagine doing without.

As for me, I went to my weight works class on Satuday, but started feeling pretty cruddy Sat afternoon and was pretty much useless today.
