Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Hi Team! Just a quick check in to say hi! Not much to report, still pluggin' away but didn't lose any weight this week. I did manage 2.5 miles on the treadmill this morning so hopefully I'll be able to complete the 5k in April like I'm planning. Off to play dance central 2 now my new favorite!
Woo hoo! 2.5 miles is awesome! :cool1:

Thanks for letting me vent. I don't want to sound like some horrible person who hates kids, especially those with disabilities, on the contrary my youngest boy has ADD and we suspect Aspergers but that's no excuse for poor behavior. This kid can control himself, I dealt with him as an assistant for the cross country team. He just knows I won't put up with his BS or his brothers and that's why they behave when I'm around. They have the school snowed, I hate this because as many of you know I have dumped years of blood, sweat and tears into that building and to having to leave like this on such a sour notes just sets me off.
I've had board of Ed members and other parents texting and calling since I left school. That's what happens when you live in a small town, the whole work finds out in about an hour that your kid was punched in the face.

Hoping it is all working out!
Some days you just need to take a break and relax... My latest blog on Sparkpeople:

I like it! I have never checked out Sparkpeople, but I might head over there and see what its all about. Good for you for being so consistent in your posting.

Hi Everyone!

Just popping in really quickly. I had a headache all day, but am finally feeling better, so I need to make up some time.

On the up side I did really well on my food. I am remotivated. It does me so much good to read about all of you and to see some great pictures!!!!!

Have a happy Healthy week!!
Nancy

:thumbsup2:cool1:

OH MY GOD. I got here (Old Key West) around noon. My room wasn't ready, so I went to lunch at Olivia's. While I'm eating I get my "your room is ready text". They told me at the desk that I was in building 11 on the second floor...but when I open the door they upgraded me to a 1BR villa.  Pics to come on Facebook!

Dropped the ball on coaching today. Sorry friends. My hands have been full all day. Hoping for some mre DIS tomorrow. Did manage to get to kickboxing this evening. Only thing that was kicked was my butt!

lol. but you did it! Way to go! :cool1:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I did it again tonight! Went crazed and ate and ate and ate! :faint:

but you are posting about it now! Tomorrow is a new day!

Whew! I think I am done. Thank you all for not making the thread 10 more pages while I was trying to catch up.

So, yesterday sucked. I felt like death on toast. I hated everyone and everything because I felt so crappy. So what did I do?

I'll take "Really Bad Decisions" for $200 Alex
The answer is "Eats junk food all day."
BUZZ! "What LTS does when she feels crappy?"
That is right! You have just won 1 pound and an upset stomach!

So I am feeling better today. Went to bed early and slept well. Slept late today to try to catch up. I just have that sort of crappy day yesterday hangover today.

Went and got the rest of the things that I needed to organize my cabinets. Now I am on to my Pots and Pans cabinet. My whole family is cursing me because they can't find anything! I moved things to different drawers and it will take some getting used to. But it is all so neat and pretty now. Anyone want to start the pool on how long it will last?:confused3

Well, I decided to totally go against January accepted practices-- you know this month everyone has their resolutions so they start health and exercise programs and join gyms to try to get in shape. I Quit mine today! :rotfl: Nothing wrong with it but let's face it, I haven't been in over 7 months so I am just not going to go. It is really too far away for me to get to in a very inconvenient part of town. Groupon has a great 3 month special for a place right up the road by Walmart, where I am several times a week anyway. And I will probably only go for the 3 months anyway. I am going to work on trying some things at home and see how that goes. If I go there a few days a week and do things at home that will be a good start for me. Since I am walking better I am thinking about seeing if I can do Walk Off the Pounds without too much pain.

WATER!! Not just for those trying to lose weight but everyone at WDW needs to remember to drink plenty of water. By the time you feel thirsty you are already behind. Getting in 64 oz should be no problem and on those hot days you may need even more.

Well I have been here for way longer than I should have been so I need to go spend time with DH. Have a great night everyone! :cheer2:

good for you for recognizing the other gym wasn't going to work out. So many of us have held onto a gym membership that we dont use because of the recurring billing. Its better to use that money doing something as a family outside and actually get moving than wasting it on a membership we will never use if its not close by. thats my theory. There are so many free things we can do to get moving. Even here in Minnesota, in the winter, we have to get outside or we all become freeze babies! Good luck on the new gym! I hope you love it!

Here we celebrate our progress and recognize our superstars.

Reminders:
-after 3 weeks of no reporting, you are dropped from the challenge & can re-start at any time, though
-if anybody knows they will miss weighing in, just PM and let me know and you'll be marked excused

Biggest Loser Fall Challenge Week 1!
This week’s group loss = 102.2 pounds!
Average percentage of weight lost 0.74 %
Total group weight loss so far 102.2 pounds!

AWESOME!

Retention Rate (compared to the 72 participants we had sign up for our start week on January 1st)
99% (this includes the Losers, Maintainers and Excused people!). Let's keep sending those weights people!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 1?

The WISH Biggest Loser Spring Challenge Team Mickey Week 1 Superstars!!

:cheer2: Wow! :cheer2: The losses this first week are amazing! And so inspiring. Look what we can do! I love how close the teams are, too - what a great start!

I think they really vary in quality. We've had a number of the build/freeze-your-dinner places here, and only a couple have survived. The one I'm using now seems really good, and the per serving cost ends up being very low. The thing I like most about it (besides how easy it makes dinners!) is that we can try new things without committing to a pile of ingredients we might not use much (whole bottles of spices, etc.). They have a lot of coupon codes and deals, too; I don't think I've ever paid full price for a session.

In other news today, our kitten is off getting spayed. We told DD7 and DD5 that she was having an operation and would need to stay overnight at the vet tonight. They were cool with that and didn't think much of it. Until...at dinner, I told the family that the vet called as soon as the operation was done to let me know that Sofia was doing great and to talk about her follow-up care (we pick her up tomorrow). The girls thought that was great, and then DD7 looked up and said, "So...why did Sofia need an operation?" :)

Tomorrow is my commuting day (I'm so lucky that I get to work from home four days a week - that one day reminds me every time!), so no morning workout for me. I'll leave the house with the girls by 6am, get them dropped off, pick up my work buddy, and hit the HOV lanes into the city. But tomorrow my WW meeting starts back up at work, and I'm really eager to see everyone again! I think I'm hitting the Container Store on the way back home, and then it's time to pick up the kitty and come home for dinner.

I went ahead and tracked all my planned food for tomorrow - my commute day breakfast is a Luna bar. :) Lunch is leftover ravioli lasagna and two apples (the entree is points-heavy enough that I opted for 0-point sides!), and dinner is a Let's Dish entree of honey glazed pork chops. The side is sweet potato fries, so I'll just count out 5 of those for a taste and give the rest to the girls. I haven't decided on the veggie yet, but I think I'll do some steamed broccoli with our garlic herb shaker for some flavor...and I'll get extra broccoli for my fry sacrifice. :) All that leaves me 3 points, assuming I don't add any other snacks - hm, wine or VitaTop?

Commute day means I have to wait until evening to work out, when I'm typically more worn out, but BL is on, and that always seems to get me going. So motivating, and ohhhh, Dolvett!

Hope everyone has a great night and a Terrific Tuesday!

XO

I do WW too.

I went to bed at 10:30 and fell asleep almost instantly, only to wake up around midnight because I was freezing. I haven't been able to fall back asleep. :headache: Technically I don't need to be up until 5:15, so I'm playing on Mom's computer until then (mine's packed). We're heading out to the airport at 6 and stopping at Tim Horton's-I'll probably get a yogurt parfait and bagel.

I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me from the fall challenge through now, with the application process, the waiting, the excitement over getting accepted, and the waiting for two months to actually go down.

I hope I will be able to meet some of you if you come down to visit, and I'll let you know where I will be working as soon as I find out. In the meantime, I will be posting a lot of blog updates and dining reviews (for today at least) and both those links are in my sig. If you want to see even more pictures, you can friend me on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/gretchenf1

I'll pop over this afternoon, since goodness knows I'll have some downtime when I'm chilling out icing my knee and hopefully taking a nap (I hope my room is ready before 4pm :rolleyes1).

Good for you! I never can sleep when something exciting is happening, either! "I'm too excited to sleep"! lol. Hope you settle in nicely and just enjoy every single second!

HAVE A GREAT TRIP GRETCHEN! i just friended you! now i can stalk you on so many different mediums ;)

GOOD MORNING LOSERS!!!

first let me congratulate TEAM DONALD on their week 1 win!! i can't believe how CLOSE the results were. makes me wonder if i had just used the bathroom before i weighed in if we would have tied :rotfl::rolleyes1

i have a little :yay: moment to share. i fed the baby last night at 9pm and then not again until 3am! woot! so i got almost 5 hours straight (i read for a little after feeding him and awoke before 3 when he was squirming and making piglet noises. :yay:

when i get more sleep, i tend to not turn to food as often. when i'm tired i snack...and i snack hard!:lmao:

QOTD: Speaking of snacks, what are some healthy and satisfying snacks that YOU turn to when you need a little something to get you through to the next meal? Are you a big snacker? Does a small thing like one hershey kiss satisfy you are you more of a bulk snacker (like air popped popcorn)?

and i'm LOVING aunt ann's quote today! : “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” -Tony Robbins

:thumbsup2

YES! great idea Maria! i remember being on the course last year thinking, come on people, somebody cheer for me too! there were alot of family members cheering for their runners but as soon as they ran by (or while they were waiting to see the runner) they just stood there in silence. finally back in epcot some lovely CM yelled out "go nancy" and i almost barfed i was so happy. wait, no, i almost barfed because i had just run 12ish miles so far and wanted to die ;) but seeing that CM gave me some extra oomph!

I've experienced that too! The cast member or person that calls you by your name as you are passing them and it just gives you a little kick in the pants! I love that!

Yesterday was a pretty great start. I drank my H2O and did my 20 minutes of exercise. I know that I wouldn't have done either without this challenge. So THANKS!

Today I will start recording my food. I don't get to eat it if I'm not willing to write it down!

Have a great day all. Heading off to let Jillian kick my butt for 20 minutes!

Awesome on the food recording. It was a real eye opener for me! :scared1:

good morning teammies!! i can't believe we lost over 100 lbs in just one week!! well, not even one week!! we rock!

however, i'm not rockin' like i could be. i think i'm not eating enough during the day, then tooo hungry by early evening and just guessing on the rest of my day's calories. snap out of it! today i will journal 100% --

LTS -- thanks for the encouragment and you are right, i need to remember that the times when i don't have the energy or strength to workout that my day is not a wash, my week is not shot. i can still make a difference

The fact that you recognize you need to do more is half the battle. You will rock it! Hang in there!:cool1:

Good morning all! What a great first week so many of you had. I was a bit late coming to the thread so I missed the time to turn in our starting weight or I might have helped Mickey a little bit. I'm working on getting those few pounds I put on between very late dinners (after spending hours at the hospital) and all the goodies around for the holidays. Glad that's over. I'm usually at the Y 5 or 6 mornings a week but slept so poorly (like hardly at all) that I didn't go this am. Already hoping to get there tonight so I can make up for the 'extra' I allow myself. I use my fitness pal if anyone wants to friend me. (pjstevens).

As for snacks, i like the prepackaged 100 calorie snacks (or any individual serving). When it's gone, I'm done, lol. If it were a big bag I'd not be done til it was ALL gone.

I, too, love the 100 cal packs. When they're done, I'm done. I would eat the whole big bag too. I can so relate!:thumbsup2

Thought I would post my menu that I made up the beginning of the month.

If I have rice/potato/pasta listed that is usually for my kids and husband. If I am going to have it then I make parboiled rice or Barilla Plus pasta for myself. Currently I am strictly limiting carbs so I am not having them at all. A lot of times I just list Green Veggie and then we decide based on what looked good at the store or what we have that needs to be eaten, unless there is a specific one that is best with that meal. Sometimes I will add a second green veggie for myself or a salad.

I try to have a balance of beef / chicken throughout the menu so we aren't eating chicken 4 nights in a row or 3 meals with ground beef in a row.

We have already had from my list:
Ginger Chicken and Snow Peas / Rice
Tacos/ Fat Free Refried Beans/ salad
Pork Chop/ Pasta Roni,/Green Beans
Chicken Marsala/ Noodles/ Green Veggie
Steak Teriyaki / Oven Roasted Potatoes / Green Veggie
Soup (Asparagus with Parm. Sprinkle and White Chicken Chili) and Chicken Casear Salad
Steak and Mushroom Kabobs/ Rice / Veggie
Chicken Stuffed with Bacon and Cheese / Pasta / Spinach

Planned for the next 2 weeks:
Salsa Chicken / salad
London Broil / potatoes / Veggie
Beef Stroganoff / Noodles/ Veggie
Chicken (will try a new recipe, not sure what yet)
Fajitas
Hungarian Goulash with Beef Chunks (crock pot meal)
Easy Chicken and Wine Sauce / Angel Hair Pasta / Veggie
Taco Soup and Salad
Pan Fried Chicken

I just bought some pork tenderloins on sale

Hi everyone! Wow, I guess I didn't realize this was the first week, and I'm shocked at how high the numbers were! I came in late so had nothing to do with that loss, but excited to contribute to the goal this Friday!

So far today I have drank a LOT of water. Much more than I usually do.

I also went to the gym and did 30 mins on the treadmill at 4.0 speed and 5 incline that varied up and down ( down to 2...up to 12)

I followed that up with a 30 minute strength/cardio training class that focused on your arms, legs and core.

I also jogged outside for a total of 5 minutes :lmao: It's not much, but it's 5 mins more than I have ever done before!

To answer the QOTD- I prefer more bang for my buck usually, like a 100 cal kettle corn pop corn, but some times a clementine does the trick!

For chocolate or peanut butter cravings I am LOVING the new skinny cow chocolate or choc/PB bars! They are only 110 cals per bar but seem like so much more than that!

I've decided that since I cheated and had lunch out, that I would go back to the gym tonight for Zumba! I've also decided that I will do 2-3 nights a week at gym in addition to my morning schedule. I feel like I need to step it up, and that an hour just isn't enough for me.. I REALLY REALLY REALLLLLLLLLY want to buy a not xxl swim suit this year!!

Definitely the wine!:thumbsup2 What is the garlic herb shaker you mentioned?

Hope kitty is doing okay. Does she get the cone of shame?
I'm thinking wine, too. I've started making sure I have enough points left for a glass in the evening, and I love it. :)

The garlic herb shaker is from Wegmans - we are so lucky to have them here in northern VA! They started making some seasoning shakers, and the garlic herb one has proved to be just the thing for adding to steamed veggies. A little saltiness and a nice touch of flavor. They make others, too, but this one appealed to me the most. I'm sure there are national brand products like this, but Wegmans sent me a coupon for theirs. ;)

I'm about to go pick up the kitty! I'll bet she was in the cone of shame yesterday, but I don't know if she'll have to come home with one. We'll have some kitty feel-good meds for her, and we're supposed to try and keep our very active kitten from being, well, too active. Riiiiight. :lmao:

Beautiful - what a great surprise! Congratulations and best of luck at CP - can't wait to hear (and see) all about it!

Tuesday is my WW day, so I already have my weigh-in for Friday, and I'm so happy to be down! Took off everything from the holidays and then a little bit more. That feels really, really good. :) I know WW works for me, but I think you guys are a big part of why I've been going at this so hard this time. Thank you!! :yay:

XO

Afternoon ::MickeyMo!

Yeah, so yesterday was BAD. I normally do really well on days off from exercise but not yesterday. I ate WAY to much chocolate. I got on the scale this morning and I had gained 2 pounds. I'm hoping its just my scale having a fluke and it'll be off by the next weigh in.

I was up all night watching Season 1 of Royal Pains. That show is addicting! I ate a egg/canadian bacon/cheese english muffin with a 6 ounce Sunny D. Now I need to get on the treadmill and get a mile in. I have a planned BL kinect workout for tonight. I'll do that after dinner.

Dinner is going to be steaks on the grill, baked potatoes, and broc and cheese. Last night's theme of dinner was veggies . We had vegetable beef soup over potatoes, broc and cheese, and side salads. :)

I think I'm starting to fight a cold because I didn't wake up until almost 12 Noon.

I apologize. I simply do not have enough time to respond to all of you. Thank you for your support with my mom. I also love the idea of using SB recipes. I will check my library first and then likely buy a cookbook. Tonight's dinner is almost 100% naturally GF. You only need to add a little bit of GF flour mixture, so it should be a winner. :)

I already feel like going back to sleep. Must stay awake...........

You are an awesome mother and I hope that tomorrow is a better day! :goodvibes

Thanks CC!!! I didn't feel like a great mom at the moment because I lost my cool in front of my kid but someone has to defend the masses!

I am so fed up with being sick. I woke up today, stuffed up to high heaven, again! If this is a cold, it wil be my third one since Thanksgiving. I'm seriously considering putting all of my kids in little hazmat suits. (JK, but man, it's tempting.) I did see the allergist today who was perplexed by the reaction, thinks it's either a food reaction or contact dermititis, so he gave me a script for that, and I see the ENT tomorrow. Maybe I will finally have some answers!

It's going around!! My DS15 was home today with the same thing and the school nurse told him yesterday that the kids were dropping like flies there.

That really stinks. I would be angry too. Have you or anyone else he has hit ever called the police and pressed charges? That is assault and maybe some legal intervention will get the school and parents to pay attention.

The police and DCF are heavily involved with this family. The same kid ran away from home to my house in April because his mom threatened to bash his head in. He wanted to live with me.

Standing right next to you sister! And my friend came to visit full force this morning. I HATE HER!!!

Here we celebrate our progress and recognize our superstars.

not reporting in for 1 week-----2

I apologize, one of those 2 was me.

Way to go everyone!!!!

Good Morning! I did great yesterday and hoping to write my food down today!

When do we weigh in?

We weigh in Every Friday, some (like me, tend to do Saturdays)

YES! great idea Maria! i remember being on the course last year thinking, come on people, somebody cheer for me too! there were alot of family members cheering for their runners but as soon as they ran by (or while they were waiting to see the runner) they just stood there in silence. finally back in epcot some lovely CM yelled out "go nancy" and i almost barfed i was so happy. wait, no, i almost barfed because i had just run 12ish miles so far and wanted to die ;) but seeing that CM gave me some extra oomph!

Aww, I would have cheered for you!! We always cheer for everyone at meets!

Just discovered my fitness pal today. WOW! I love it! How easy to keep track of your food. Now I have NO EXCUSES!!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We need to get a fitness pal master list going! I'm on, same username as I have here.

Still haven't done my treadmill workout yet. I'm waiting for my Prevacid to kick in. Its a busy tv night in our house here tonight. NCIS, Biggest Loser, and a few other shows Alan watches. Our DVR goes overboard on Tuesdays .

well it's only 5:22 and i'm ready for bed! i did get my 2 mile WATP in this morning and have been working on laundry all day. seems like at the beginning of the day I think, i'm going to have this laundry done in plenty of time before the day is over, but it always comes down to the evening and i'm tired and trying to finish it out. today was a pj day, yes i showered and put my pjs back on :teeth: i had hopes of starting on taking down the christmas deco, that didn't happen, but i did manage to knock some tasks off my to-do list and spent some time making cards that need to be mailed

and :thanks: everyone for the ongoing encouragment, i'm so glad i joined in the BL challenges this time around

i like 'reverse journaling'....i do that on days when i'm really on it, i need to make that my routine each morning

i forgot to say CONGRATS to our losers this week, especially Buckeye Fan!!! Whoo hooo!!

Gretchen - how awesome your upgrade at OKW! i'm living the dream through you girl!

Disneywedding -- a girl after my own heart, i like to 'chain-smoke' me some TV seasons on neflix...i'll have to check out Royal Pains. my latest was Sons of Anarchy

LTS -- i am soooo impressed with your meal planning!

BAMB -- to you for the troubles at school, you are a GREAT mom don't ever forget it!

I think I'm starting to fight a cold because I didn't wake up until almost 12 Noon.

You should go back to sleep, if your body is fighting off a cold you need your rest!

We need to get a fitness pal master list going! I'm on, same username as I have here.
:thumbsup2

I'm on there too and Username is the same as here.

SO I'm about to start on dinner but just wanted to let you all know that I:

a. applied to one of the jobs (the one I really want!)
b. Started my PTR and the link is on my siggy!

I'll be back later!

ohMom -- Two belated presents I bought myself and Alan was seasons 1 and 2 of Royal Pains and Seasons 1 and 2 of Hot in Cleveland.

Going to start dinner here in a few. Then after dinner I'm going to get my workouts in. I'll watch shows tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great night!

Hard to keep up with y'all. I was at the dentist tonight, and had THREE doses of freezing. :scared1: I don't think that I'll get to eat tonight. Still frozen! :rotfl2: Good thing I had a good lunch!

I wonder how our teammate did at the 1/2 this weekend??

Here I go! Time for my BL-inspired (and Dolvett-inspired, too, to be honest) bike session! :woohoo:

I wonder if Gretchen is watching WISHES. I wish I was there with her!

Today was great for veggies, fruit, water, and exercise. I did loosen up at dinner and had two biscuits! My husband made breakfast for dinner. On a side note, he had to disconnect the smoke detector when he burned some bacon! :lmao: He made sure to reconnect it once the smoke cleared.

I did resist snacking while watching TV! This has been difficult for me to stop doing. I am really happy about this!

Congratulations to our biggest losers! You did us proud!

LTS, I'm liking the sound of chicken lettuce wraps. I'm going to look up some recipes and try one!

I'm watching NCIS while I get caught up with my Team! Good night everyone! Tomorrow is going to be a great day! Now where have I heard that before? I honestly don't remember!

Hey Team Mickey!
I'm new to the board and assigned to this team so go Mickey!

I was a fitness junkie, then I started binge eating. Got that mostly handled, but still have the extra padding to deal with so I'm here trying to unearth my Minnie-Me preferably before my cruise (DCL Magic!) this next fall.
So...I'm here.
And tracking calories, drinking a ton of water and exercising are the easy parts for me.
Soooo. That's it I guess!
:goodvibes

Hi all!
I'm still hanging on by my fingernails... I have a really hard time keeping up with all the posts.

I've felt crummy, not sick; just run down and spent all day just nibbling on junk.... too much chocolate and convinced DH to go get ice cream with me..... I am not doing well with this and know it's just a serious lack of will power. On the up side; I did make it to the gym on Sat and I caught myself doing random upright ab exercises through out the day today. I am drinking all of my water too. I guess I just need to get more sleep.
