Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

good morning teammies!! i can't believe we lost over 100 lbs in just one week!! well, not even one week!! we rock!

however, i'm not rockin' like i could be. i think i'm not eating enough during the day, then tooo hungry by early evening and just guessing on the rest of my day's calories. snap out of it! today i will journal 100% --

LTS -- thanks for the encouragment and you are right, i need to remember that the times when i don't have the energy or strength to workout that my day is not a wash, my week is not shot. i can still make a difference

Good morning all! What a great first week so many of you had. I was a bit late coming to the thread so I missed the time to turn in our starting weight or I might have helped Mickey a little bit. I'm working on getting those few pounds I put on between very late dinners (after spending hours at the hospital) and all the goodies around for the holidays. Glad that's over. I'm usually at the Y 5 or 6 mornings a week but slept so poorly (like hardly at all) that I didn't go this am. Already hoping to get there tonight so I can make up for the 'extra' I allow myself. I use my fitness pal if anyone wants to friend me. (pjstevens).

As for snacks, i like the prepackaged 100 calorie snacks (or any individual serving). When it's gone, I'm done, lol. If it were a big bag I'd not be done til it was ALL gone.

Hey Mickeys you're so fine! ::MickeyMo

Dropped the ball on coaching today. Sorry friends. My hands have been full all day. Hoping for some mre DIS tomorrow. Did manage to get to kickboxing this evening. Only thing that was kicked was my butt!

You are a wonderful coach! :goodvibes That kickboxing is rough, tough, stuff!

Remember that exercise is only PART of the equation. If you feel too crappy for it then just put your focus on the other parts-- your eating and water consumption. Don't get discouraged that you can't exercise, be encouraged by having a healthy on plan day with lots of water that you journal. :thumbsup2 Everyday can't be perfect so we have to work with what we can. :goodvibes You can do it!:cheer2:

Very good advice! ::yes::

And your creamy chicken chili was delicious! :thumbsup2 I think next time I make it I might use hominy as a substitute for the great northern beans but I don't know how that works with the SB plan. DH would like you to post some more recipes! :goodvibes

A big BL thank you, too, to Sue, our lovely weightkeeper! :goodvibes

This week's winning team with 50.22% is Team Donald!!

Congratulations to Team Donald for winning this week!

It was amazing how close the results were -- 2/100ths is pretty darn close. It just goes to show how every little pound counts! :thumbsup2 And over 200 pounds for the whole group is fabulous! :cool1:

:cheer2: Wow! :cheer2: The losses this first week are amazing! And so inspiring. Look what we can do! I love how close the teams are, too - what a great start!

It is a great start, Liz! :goodvibes

Gretchen, safe travels today. :goodvibes

Liz -- I agree, Dolvett is quite motivating. Actually, you have talked me out of skipping the workout I missed this morning. I am going to get on the TM during BL and enjoy the Dolvett view!

Sounds like a great plan, Maria! :thumbsup2 I'm a Dolvett fan, too.

Have a great day Mickeys!

QOTD: Speaking of snacks, what are some healthy and satisfying snacks that YOU turn to when you need a little something to get you through to the next meal? Are you a big snacker? Does a small thing like one hershey kiss satisfy you are you more of a bulk snacker (like air popped popcorn)?

and i'm LOVING aunt ann's quote today! : “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” -Tony Robbins

The snacks I bring to work are apples, babybel, blueberries and almonds. At home I turn to popcorn, if I feel like I just want to eat a lot. The only way a Hershey kiss satisfies me is if it's my tiny sweet after a meal. :rotfl:

YES! great idea Maria! i remember being on the course last year thinking, come on people, somebody cheer for me too! there were alot of family members cheering for their runners but as soon as they ran by (or while they were waiting to see the runner) they just stood there in silence. finally back in epcot some lovely CM yelled out "go nancy" and i almost barfed i was so happy. wait, no, i almost barfed because i had just run 12ish miles so far and wanted to die ;) but seeing that CM gave me some extra oomph!

The Princess was a big shock for me -- WISH cheerleader-wise. At the Half, there were a ton of WISHers cheering you all along. Because it is marathon weekend with 2 races, you have built in cheering groups -- people doing the Full (Mickey) cheer for the Half (Donald), and people doing the Half cheer for the Full. Those Goofy people are just goofy! :goofy: "Going Goofy" is running both the Half and the Full, and getting 3 medals. If you want to be really wild and do "Dopey", you can add the Family 5K -- but no extra medal for that, just the regular 5K medal.

Anyway, because the Princess is a stand alone, there just aren't as many people present to cheer. And you are right, people do only tend to cheer for their family members... :confused3

When I cheered for the Full, we cheered for everyone, we just yelled extra loud and jumped up and down for the WISH folks! :jumping2:

I encourage anyone who is interested in a WDW or DL race to learn more -- it is the inspiration that keeps me working to lose weight, and it is so much fun! :yay:

Maria :upsidedow

Good Morning!!!

Just finished catching up. I had a ok day yesterday. I had to open at work so that meant going to the gym after and I learned that I do not like working out after work. The gym is crowded and well the weight room is a bit intimidating with all those guys hanging around! I did manage to get in 20 mins on the elliptical before I got a text from my husband that my son had gotten sick and thrown up . So I headed home. I wasn't too concerned since I did get 20 minutes in. I also walk about 10 minutes each way to the train everyday so there goes 40 minutes of cardio. My food choices weren't bad yesterday I stayed within my calories so yay!
I got home to find out my son had been sick a second time :headache:! Not sure what happened. :confused3 He seems to be feeling better today so I'm hoping it was just one time thing and not something bigger like a stomach virus.

So we got our first week stats... yay! Good Job everyone! Congrats to Buckeye fan!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Congrats to team Donald on their win!

We went to Immediate Care and I was discharged with a knee sprain. The knee cap is where it is supposed to be and there is no ligament or tendon damage. There seems to be some swelling under the knee cap which is why it's temporarily popped out of place a bit. They gave me a prescription for anti-inflammatories and told me to rest as much as possible.

HAVE A GREAT TRIP GRETCHEN!!!!

Glad to hear it wasn't dislocated knee cap been there and it is not pretty! Hope you feel better soon and take it easy on your knees the first couple of days!

Buffy I would also word a letter to the Principal, Superintendent and all board of ed members telling them the reason you are leaving.

I second this!

My coffee maker is under warranty which is why I am so durn ticked off. Keurig is being a butt about it. I can return it to Costco but really I want Keurig to deal with it since it is the right thing to do. I just want to talk to someone that isn't reading from a script. She just kept telling me to descale the machine even after I told her I just did a few days ago. And I kept trying to explain the strange noises that seem to be an obvious pump problem which are all exactly the same as hundreds of others I have read on the internet who after descaling 47 times Keuirg finally sent them a new one.
I could not love the concept any more if I designed it myself. Unfortunately it also works like I designed it myself!:lmao: Anyway, we have figured out a workaround for now until I decide to deal with it again.

Ugh I hate when companies do that, why should you go to the retailer if it is their product! I have read about those pump issues before when I was thinking about purchasing one. In the end we decided to stick with our regular brewer.

HAVE A GREAT TRIP GRETCHEN! i just friended you! now i can stalk you on so many different mediums ;)

GOOD MORNING LOSERS!!!

first let me congratulate TEAM DONALD on their week 1 win!! i can't believe how CLOSE the results were. makes me wonder if i had just used the bathroom before i weighed in if we would have tied :rotfl::rolleyes1

i have a little :yay: moment to share. i fed the baby last night at 9pm and then not again until 3am! woot! so i got almost 5 hours straight (i read for a little after feeding him and awoke before 3 when he was squirming and making piglet noises. :yay:

when i get more sleep, i tend to not turn to food as often. when i'm tired i snack...and i snack hard!:lmao:

QOTD: Speaking of snacks, what are some healthy and satisfying snacks that YOU turn to when you need a little something to get you through to the next meal? Are you a big snacker? Does a small thing like one hershey kiss satisfy you are you more of a bulk snacker (like air popped popcorn)?

and i'm LOVING aunt ann's quote today! : “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” -Tony Robbins

:banana::banana: For more sleep! I also tend to snack a lot when I'm lacking sleep.

QOTD: Depends I noticed I snack a lot more at work, something about sitting at a desk all day. When I'm at home I do tend to snack but only at night after dinner. As far as the quantity it really depends on the snack and my mood. I will never be happy with one hershey's kiss though .

I went to bed at 10:30 and fell asleep almost instantly, only to wake up around midnight because I was freezing. I haven't been able to fall back asleep. :headache: Technically I don't need to be up until 5:15, so I'm playing on Mom's computer until then (mine's packed). We're heading out to the airport at 6 and stopping at Tim Horton's-I'll probably get a yogurt parfait and bagel.

I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me from the fall challenge through now, with the application process, the waiting, the excitement over getting accepted, and the waiting for two months to actually go down.

I hope I will be able to meet some of you if you come down to visit, and I'll let you know where I will be working as soon as I find out. In the meantime, I will be posting a lot of blog updates and dining reviews (for today at least) and both those links are in my sig. If you want to see even more pictures, you can friend me on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/gretchenf1

I'll pop over this afternoon, since goodness knows I'll have some downtime when I'm chilling out icing my knee and hopefully taking a nap (I hope my room is ready before 4pm :rolleyes1).

Friend request sent. Didn't let me include a message with it, but the 1 from Maureen is me. Been very busy the past few days but I hope your knee gets better quickly and you enjoy working as a CM. I'm so excited for you:cool1:

Just discovered my fitness pal today. WOW! I love it! How easy to keep track of your food. Now I have NO EXCUSES!!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I'm the same way as you. Small bag of chips. When it's done, I'm done. Huge bag of chips (enough for a group of people). WHen it's done, I'm done. That's why I don't buy Doritos anymore! I can't help myself!

Hey Team Mickey! I'm just dropping over to your thread to congratulate everyone on a great weigh in this week. It was sooooooo close! Keep up the good work! And, congrats to your top ten! Way to go!

My DH fooled around with the possibility of getting a keurig. That was for about 5 minutes until he tried a K cup while shopping at Bjs 1 day. Suffice to say until he fins a K cup he likes we won't be getting it. I don't drink coffee at all so I have no opinion on it really. But you are not the first person I've read about having problems. Most people i know just exchange them.

Here's an interesting tidbit I found out a few weeks ago in my local paper. We will be getting a Green Mountain distribution center soon(or maybe its a factory 1 or the other:confused3). Did you know that Green Mountain owns the Keurig brand? There was whole thing about how it actually loses money on the coffee makers and uses the coffee to make up the profits which from the sudden boom in sales is working like a charm. they don't even have to mark up the coffee that much because you always replace it.

Alrighty, getting in the swing this morning.

Went to bed around 10:30 last night and slept until 9:30 this morning:scared1: Don't know what brought that on, i haven't slept 11 hours straight in forever. But i needed it. I was so wiped out Sunday and yesterday, but i feel like a new person this morning. Already did some posting here and I am researching horseback riding lessons for my niece in DE. She is 7 and OBSESSED with horses. No idea where she gets it from:confused3 But after visiting her at Christmas I'm wondering if its not time to help feed the habit. She seems to need something and I'm not sure what that is, but if I start with something i know she loves and we can work it out then maybe i can give that to her.

I know its not cheap and hopefully we'd be able to split the cost with her mother. But that's up in the air. For right now i am looking for stables local to them and then I'll throw it out to my sister and see where we'll go from there.

So if anybody here knows anything about horses please pass all the info you have to me. I know what horses are and that's it:lmao: Also, any good stables in DE if you know of any would be great too. That's where she lives. :thumbsup2

Truly have no time, but in trying to beat those Donalds with posts: hello!

Went for a run this morning. Not a good time, but then I remembered the first time I did it was 5 minutes slower. It's all in perspective.

Have a super evening or probably night since most of you are east coasters!

Awesome! Way to go!!

Guess who just finished working out a good-looking menu for most of January? Me!!!!!!!!

The GF/CF (gluten-free/casein-free) cookbook I ordered came in earlier this week and I scoured it for new recipe ideas. I am hoping at least a few turn out well so that we have some new options. I love chicken and could eat it everyday, but my parents, well, not so much. They are okay with it a once or twice a week. I am hoping that adding some variety to our chicken options will help. I am also adding more turkey meals to the menu lineup and hoping that those meals taste great and won't get any complaints.

I love your meal planning! That's something I need to do more of! There are so many WW recipes, that I can make those for my family and they won't even know the difference. As it is, I'm making them the old stand-bys and eating a Lean Cuisine for dinner myself. It would be so much better to plan my meals out like you are doing and serve everyone the same thing. Great job!

Great Saturday, over 60 degrees today in "wintery" New Jersey! DH & I took the ds's to the local HS track, he jogged over a mile then played football with the boys, while I jog/walked 2.75 miles. Woo hoo to us! I will take this spring-like weather as long as Mother Nature will give it to us here in the Northeast--we already HAD snowdays off of school with our October 30 snowstorm that knocked power out in our town for days. Done for the year, thank you!

I also 30 Day Shredded today, Day 9! I'll feel all of it tomorrow, but yay today:thumbsup2 I only lost .4 of a lb this week, but I know I've been eating much better, has to be due to a little muscle increase, 9 straight days of 20 min exercise...right??:rolleyes1

Way to move it! You got the whole family out and then went home and did some more! GREAT!!!!

QOTD: We too went to the zoo (the Kansas City Zoo) and it was amazing! We then went to the Seasons 52 that opened in the Country Club Plaza in KC. This was one of my favorite restaurants in Orlando. The menu completely changes every season and they have dishes that rotate out every week so that everything is prepared using fresh, seasonl ingredients. Hence the name. Everything is under 475 calories, and they were the ones that started the mini dessert craze. I was so happy when I drove by it on the way to the doctor as I had wanted to go to one ever since leaving Orlando.

I did have a Happy Meal for lunch ,but I balanced it out with all the walking and a healthier dinner. I was so mad at myself though. After I logged my food in the my system, I went to plug in my armband (similar to a bodybugg, but this one also measures time spent sleeping) and realized I had forgotten to wear it. After all of that walking! You can enter in what you do in off armband time, but I did underestimate it on purpose. I could have kicked myself.

My face looks a lot better today but itches like hell. It physically hurt when we went into the tropics building because the left side where I am having the reaction has been really warm and the building was very hot. The steroids are also making me feel a little funky. I hope it goes away soon.

LTS: I love your user name, but sometimes I read it as Loves to Crap. LOL. My doctor is aware of the reaction as she is the one who called in the methyl dose pack. I just did extensive food allergy testing and I see an ENT next week. I am going to talk to him and also nee to follow up with the integrative doc. I will then see from there if I make an appointment with my physician. I feel like I have been seeing her too often due to the sinus infection/bronchitis issue and I don't want to be the girl that cries wolf. Plus, it's money I have to pay every time I go. I do have an Epi Pen from when I was supposed to get allergy shots, which I haven't been able to do since you are not supposed to get them when you are sick and I have been sick non stop since the beginning of the school year. I need to get it refilled since I cant even find it as it was only precaution for when I get my shots.

I have got to try this Seasons 52 restaurant when I'm in Orlando in April!

QOTD: I haven't done a whole lot today. I went to bed early but was up watching tv. I didn't fall asleep til almost 2am. Then I woke up at 1pm! AHHHH!!

I have had a to do list in front of me for 3 days and have yet to do any of it. So my plan for tomorrow is to get up at a decent hour:

Laundry
Grocery shopping
Book hotel room
Exercise
Time on Disboards
Get meals and exrcise planned out for the new week

I'm sure there's more that needs to be done but that's all off the top of my head. I did get a mile walked today and a Sparkpeople video.

CC -- I'd be more then happy to give you any of the recipes I have. The only thing is I doubt any of them are GF. A few of them are family recipes. :)

Everyone have a great OP day tomorrow. I need to get my butt to bed.

I love your to-do list!

Thanks for all you're doing, and I'm definitely feeling the love from our group! Everyone's been great, and I enjoy reading the posts. Like someone else had said about us being behind that fine feathery friend, if we posted any more, I couldn't keep up. I like that amount of posts, and also know it will level out over time.

I do agree that I want us to kick his fine feathery butt, though! :rolleyes1

That is AWESOME! Way to go! :woohoo: Heaven knows I've read enough that I KNOW what to do to lose weight, I just can't apply it or am not disciplined enough to apply it sometimes. Anyway, I know where we eat out most. I'm going to do some pre-planning tomorrow so that if I know we go to a certain restaurant, I know what my options are there. I do think pre-planning is big and will help us all out.

Stay strong, Mickeys!

AWESOME!

GOOD MORNING!!!!

everybody neat and pretty? then on with the show!!!!

One more day of the weekend. Sunday. Regroup-day. Plan-ahead-the-week-day. Figure-out-what-worked-and-what-didn't-day. (hopefully)-Make-ahead-some-meals-day.

makes me think of two questions for the day today...

QOTD: How are YOU planning ahead for this week? Grocery shopping? Listing out your meals/snacks? Planning out your workouts?

QOTD (extra): It is SO beneficial to your healthy living lifestyle to have make ahead meals (well, it is for me). What's your favorite make ahead meal? Would you share your recipe?

***********************************

well my friends, it's sunday and the GIANTS are playing today! :woohoo: of course we have plans to go see Thomas the Train at the Bontanical Gardens today at 3. ugh. see, i'm the one person in the world who married a guy who does NOT like sports. so he just doesn't get the whole we-must-watch-this-playoff-game thing. i swear sometimes i'm the man and he's the woman! lol!

gah! baby's freaking out and now i only have one hand to type...

keep on keepin' on my friends!

Wow-- can't miss a day 'round here. Finally caught up to today and that'll help me find my place later. Had an old girl pass away on us yesterday, I knew it was coming but still a shock.
Aug01121.jpg
[/IMG]

She was just a great all around kitty-- never gave us any problems ever once. At least she died comfortably and didn't suffer much. Husband found her sleeping in my sons bed in the morning so she died in her sleep. she was about 15. Her name was Trixie but I called her Sis because she would follow my son around 9most likely because he always had food lol).

Anyway doing ok. Got brussel sprouts at Costco and husband made them-- I forgot how good those things are. Went for a walk last night--the moon was really full and pretty.

And for those of you who were interested in the Runner's World article on how losing just a tad can help your speed in a race here is the link

http://www.runnersworld.com/article...-_-Content-Nutrition-_-RunAtYourFastestWeight

Even if you aren't a runner, it is good information about how just a small change can add up to making your life much easier and enjoyable! :goodvibes

Hello team mickey haven't posted since I introduced myself. I need to plan a time to read this thread daily.

Sent in my weight today I did pretty good.

I do drink my water everyday it is the exercise I have trouble with (I did walk two times during the week)

I think what has helped me the most this week is that I only ate out once this week (My mom went and bought us pizza and greek salad because I was working half the day building her new computer desk/that was kinda a work out-it was a lot of work for me)

I also put more thought into what I was eating. I ate lots more vegis. Two meals this week were meatless. One night I ate a big salad first then served the rest of my meal)

I will continue to drink my water, and put more thought into what I eat. I need to work on the exercise. I am a preschool teacher and I am tired when I get home. The days I did walk I did feel good after I just need to get up and do it. (I also have a gym membership)

My exercise goal is to be able to hike up Cowles mountain. It is a three mile hike (1.5 up then to get back) I used to hike this mountain every Sunday and now I don't think I could make it half way.

I love the Mickey saying at the beginning of your quote!!I don't really have any make ahead meals but I would like to find some options for that. That would be so handy.

Have you thought about summer camp? Yes riding lessons are pricey. If its something she's interested in now... summer camps are a good way to introduce her to riding. If she loves it then maybe you can splurge for the lessons. I don't of any in DE. My in laws own a summer home in CT near a lake, there is a camp on the lake. Its called Camp Hazen, I know they offer horse riding among other things. This is a sleep away which are also pricey, but I'm sure you can find some day camps with similar options.

Dinner is ate and now I'm letting my food settle while I'm watching Alvin and the Chipmunk movie (the 2nd one). Once my food is settled then I'm going to get my workout in. Week 2, Day 1 of Biggest Loser on the kinect. My mile is complete but the pedometer is still going... :) My water is drank for the day. Don't really have any plans for tomorrow as of right now.

AWESOME! Way to go on the workouts and the mile+! I really have to try that BL game for Kinect. How many different BL game titles are there? Just the one? Sounds like you really enjoy that one!

Oh my goodness, I'm just getting around to introducing myself and we are 37 pages in, ouch. Not sure I'll ever catch up, so I'm going to try to stay on from here.

My name is Patty. I've joined the BL a year ago here and it's helped me be accountable. I lost 50 pounds last year and am hoping to get another 25 off. For the first time in most of my adult life I'm no longer obese and am just over weight. If I can get this last bit off, for the very first time, I'll be in the 'normal' range (high end but that's ok). Here is my last year and this year Disney trips (the very beginning of December).

398170_10150467741037361_524597360_8632408_1928154329_n.jpg

I'm working full time, going to school part time, towards a degree in nursing. I've just spent the past six plus weeks with my mom in the hospital recovering from a traumatic brain injury. It wreck havoc on any 'normal' eating and I easily put on a few pounds leading up to Christmas. I'm working on getting those off and the rest of these for this year.

Hoping to get to 'know' more of you and I'll try to check in here each day.

:welcome: OMG you look so great! Don't you just feel so awesome looking at those pics and knowing you did that? I am so inspired by your pictures! Thanks for sharing! And is that a marathon shirt your husband is wearing? Cool!!!! Glad to meet you and thanks for the inspiration!

I need to start exercising....im not doing too good this weekend

Just choose an activity and tell yourself 5 minutes, then when that is over, if its feeling good 5 more, soon you will have a lot of time in when you get "in the zone". It has worked for me before and I hope it works for you! I have been there!

Just saying "hi". I just got back - was away - and am overwhelmed with the speed of this sucker. Oh well. :rotfl2:

Down 3.5. All about water - drinking it because I changed nada besides that.

I guess all I want to say is right now I'm in a terrific head space. Let's all prray. :rotfl2:

Really, great head space. Have lost a lot. Gained some back but not huge amount. Kept majority off for years. This is a great mental leap. Not focusing on the gain but the kept off. :thumbsup2

I am most pleased that I have finally accepted - mid-forties - that I weigh high - weirdly high - VERY WEIRDLY - and always will. And will never be tiny/slim/small/skinny and was never meant to be. Yeah for me! Huge.

Well excuse me while I have a personal celebration of my mental health. :rotfl2:

Would love to contribute more. Crossing my fingers that I can keep up.

Congrats! That's awesome! Its all about attitude! I got down on myself over the weekend because my run didn't go as well as it needed to. Yesterday I went out and just listened to my music, got into it and by the end I was like "YES!! THE ***** IS BACK!!". And I normally don't refer to myself as that..lol. It just felt good to have my mojo back!!! The mental aspect is huge for me!

What do you enjoy mommyof3princess27? Don't focus on that - not doing well this weekend. You know it's a journey so we all have times like that. Tomorrow - or tonight :goodvibes - is brand new.

So sorry that I sound like some positive pusher.

Be a positive pusher all you want! Push some positive over this way!! lol

I loved your post Lisa!

Hello to Team Mickey! I am on Team Donald but wanted to stop in and say Hello :wave2: because I know a lot of my friends from previous challenges are here!

I am coaching this week on our thread but I hope that when I get a bit more time to be checking in here once in a while as well because we all have so much we can learn from one another! :goodvibes

Wishing you all a happy and healthy week!
Jen

Hello!

Yes i have, and I am primarily researching for camps local to her right now. From a short web search it does not look all that promising. If she had to though she could come down to me. We have stables all over the place here. You could easily accuse me of living in horse country though it wouldn't apply to my particular neighborhood. Because its a 4hr drive though i am hoping to find a place closer to her. I need to know what to look for though. Because i have no clue:confused3 She doesn't know i'm doing this yet and she also doesn't know that she has started me thinking about maybe taking a lesson for myself. I don't know though.

I'm the same way as you. Small bag of chips. When it's done, I'm done. Huge bag of chips (enough for a group of people). WHen it's done, I'm done. That's why I don't buy Doritos anymore! I can't help myself!

I so would do the same thing. My 'weakness' is peanut butter M&M's. I'd buy a BIG bag and eat them and not even know they were gone, lol. If I really REALLY need them I'll buy the single serve bag.

Thanks so much. Yes, hubby has on the marathon jacket from the previous year. We did the 1/2 in 2010 and volunteered for the full (and got those nice jackets); then we did the full in 2011 (and no volunteering, too tired). Hubby wears that jacket ALL the time when he can. Mine got a little rip in it and I keep saying I'm going to repair it but that hasn't happened yet.

:welcome:
50sjayne:

So very sorry for the loss of your baby. We had to have a 14 1/2 year old Boston Terrier put down 2 1/2 years ago, and I still think of her. It absolutely leaves a hole in your heart, and just wanted you to know that I'm sorry, and you're in my prayers.

To My Mickeys
It's a new week! When you're feeling down or tempted, think of the folks on this thread and stay the course (or at least try! :lmao:). Seriously, this group has been really motivating to me, and I love that I'm not in this alone. It's great to know that others are facing the same challenge(s) I am, and that if I need help or support, you're a login away.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy week. Let's show some great numbers on the scale this week! :woohoo:

Funny Story
Not sure if you read my pp, but I said that I'm only picking one things to focus on (reducing calories), and the other items are do-better items. Well now I remember why sticking to one or two goals MAX is a good thing.

I went to a reservoir near our house today with my hubby who is an avid exerciser. Now mind you, I haven't exercised in heaven knows how long. With this in mind, I thought to myself, "Bridgett, this is not a good way to 'ease' into exercising." Much to my own internal 'danger Will Robinson' bells and whistles going off in my head, I went. We pull down to the bottom of a long hill, and I'm at the base of the reservoir. I go up the first set of steps on the left side of the dam, and when I reached the top, I honestly thought I'd drop dead. Right there...not exaggerating. So catching my breath (that's putting it mildly), lungs burning, I walked across the dam and went down the other set of steps thinking I could make a big loop back to our car. Going down's not so bad. Right? Well, I guessed wrong and was was more like a big U than a loop. NO way to get to the car from where I was. So I walked a while, only to have to walk BACK UP 125 steps on the right side. Then, of course, I'm still on the other side remember. I had to walk back across and back down the other set of steps to get back to our car. By this time, I've been sucking wind (cold wind) for 40 min or so, and am back at the car. As soon as I get in the car, I feel sick because I've completely over-done it. Then, if that's not bad enough, I start having an asthma attack (wheezing, coughing, tightening of my chest, shortness of breath, whole nine yards). Never had one in my life. It's midnight, and I'm still recovering from the trauma!

Not sure what the moral of the story is...ease into things, or exercise is evil :stir:! :p At any rate, if you are starting an exercise program, take it easy. We don't want any dead Mickeys around here! :lmao:

Wow! But you did it! You actually over-did it, but nonetheless, what a workout you got! Next time you are exercising and it starts to get a little hard, just tell yourself that you have done harder stuff before and remember this reservoir incident. Every time we exercise we learn something about our bodies, I think. Good for you for posting about this experience. You know what to look out for in the future. Some people do get exercise induced asthma. You really worked it, and you should be proud!
Happy Monday morning friends!!

SOrry I wasn't on at all this weekend. After DS's basketball game Saturday morning, I spent 9 hours on the pool deck. Add in drive time and dinner out with a small swim group, we were out of the house from 10:30 am until 11:15pm. No wi-fi available anywhere I was, so obviously I couldn't catch up here.

Yesterday was a frantic bit of cleaning out/packing up/moving furniture to get ready for today's carpet installation. I am totally frustrated with my family though. I packed up everything I could in the office in the morning (it too so much longer than I thought). I put EVERYTHING that DH needed to take responsibility for all together and he had ALL DAY to take care of it. But here it is, 5:45 am, it is STILL HERE! :headache: At this point it will all get dumped in a big tote and he can deal with unpacking it tomorrow.

DD also did NOT finish cleaning up her desk area in here (although she made some effort ) and she still has stuff on the stairs to be carried up.... and of course, now she is gone for the day!

I had a bit of a mental fit last night and acted a bit like a crazy lady (after returning from a 4+ hour Rainbow Girls event) when I discovered that while I was gone the men moved NOTHING! THere was a short list of things that I had asked them to move while I was gone and they did NONE of it!! So I came home, unloaded/reloaded the dishwasher in my dress and heels, and then started moving chairs, tables, etc. I was NOT happy (especially when I dropped a dining room chair on my toes!).

Not sure what time the carpet installers will be here today. HOpefully not before 9 am! I"ve got three boxes of "stuff" to carry to the basement from the office and a plant to move in the living room. DH and I will need to move his TV when he gets up and then we will hopefully be able to slide the entertainment center into the kitchen (I do NOT want to move it any further!). THen I will HEAVE the stuff from the stairs into DD's room and dump the contents of the upstairs linen closet on my bed and call it done! Oooops... forgot I gotta move this stupid computer too! Probably just put it in the kitchen along with the tv.

Sorry to be ranting! Guess I'm just a bit overtired and frustrated!

EAting was all over the board this weekend, which is another frustration after a great weigh-in on Friday. I spent the days doing GREAT and the overtired evenings snackings!! :headache: SO STUPID!! Went over points significantly on Friday and Sunday, but only just a tiny bit on Saturday. Hopefully I can make corrections this week to that terrible pattern!

I've got 15 minutes before I have to get DS moving and shaking, so I'm going to try and read/reply to a page or two here!.......................P

Busy, busy, busy! At least you are posting about it. GOOD FOR YOU! Sounds like you are making some very good things happen. Congrats on keeping conscious of your diet while so busy. In the past I have been so busy that I don't even keep track of what I eat, but tracking is going well for me since January 1. I don't want to mess it up! You are doing GREAT!!

GOOD MORNING LOSERS!!

gosh, how many times have i said to myself over the years, "diet starts monday!" well guess what - it's monday and i'm not starting anything new. it feels good to say that. my healthy living has been going steady now for a whole week. hey, it's something! and since we've been doing swimmingly this past week, let's have a QOTD that is about something we all love.... ::MickeyMo:smickey::mickeyjum:earsboy:

QOTD: As GRETCHEN heads off to our favorite place today for the college program, why don't we provide her our favorite healthy eating tip at Disney World. That way some of us who have trips scheduled (or dreamed about) can try to incorporate these tips into our vacations too!

GRETCHEN - have a fabulous trip and wonderful experience! we can't wait to follow you along! but be sure to stick to healthy choices. i tend to fall off the wagon when i'm at disney but some things we do to make sure we don't come back with too much extra weight - 1. wear a pedometer. you already walk SO much while there and it's SO great to see how much you're actually walking 2. WALK from epcot to DHS and vice versa. it's a beautiful walk and takes about 30 min. 3. try to have one salad a day. whether it's lunch or just a part of dinner or something. that way your body doesn't start thinking a french fry is an acceptable form of vegetable.

***************************

have a great day everyone! and here's a little funny from Aunt Ann's facebook:

calories.jpg

I love that picture! Gretchen- Have a great time! I love the buffets too because of the salad bar. Crystal Palace is my favorite!

Good Morning all!

I joined the team late last week, signed up for the inches challenge and healthy choices challenge but really didn't commit to get going.

Why does Monday seem like an easier day to start?

Today I will:
Record what I eat
Drink my water
Start Jillian's 30 day shred
Walk with a bud and a beagle

I am looking forward to healthy life style changes, dropping some weight that has slowly crept on over the past 5 years and mostly to FEEL BETTER, not be so tired and draggy feeling all of the time and hopefully sleep better!

EVERYONE HAVE A FUN AND FIT WEEK!

:welcome: Good luck on tracking and measuring and all that. It just becomes second nature.

Shhhh....I'm not leaving until tomorrow. But thanks for all the love anyway! :lovestruc

My biggest Disney eating tip is for buffets, and I attribute it to how I lost a few pounds when I was there in October. I took extremely small portions of everything, and also didn't let any of my food touch. After each plate, if I was still hungry, I went back for another plate. While this definitely led to me having more plates, it also kept me from going overboard. My other tip is to share every meal that you possibly can-saves money and your waistline!

I think I confused some of you when I said I was checking in for the flight today-I meant online, not actually at the airport (also, my tickers are a day or two off, for whatever reason). My boarding number is A53, not great, not terrible; I've had both better and worse in the past. I'll be among the first 53 people on the plane though! So now I have approximately 24 hours until the flight takes off, and only about 21.5 until we leave for the airport!

Gretchen -- how exciting!! now remind me where will you be working exactly and how long will you be there? i'm trying to talk my freshmen DD into the college program and i know nothing about it :teeth:

well as i said earlier, this weekend wasn't fabulous. there have been much worse though. i did not stick to my journal. yesterday we went out for late lunch, which ended up being my one meal for the day, i ate good choice breakfast and snack in the evening. now i have the remaining 1/2 of my burger (it was huge) and FF in a doggie bag. i just need to throw it out. i could throw out the FF without much problem, but the burger...it was yummy.

one minute on the lips....forever on the hips

sigh

off to do my WATP DVD....have a great day OP people!

Good luck on everything! Let us know how it goes!

Okay, I know I saw 2 posts when I deleted one, but now it appears that the only post I see is the one I deleted, whoops! Do I feel silly!!:lmao: Let's try this again:

My name is Ami and I'm a 34 year old wife to Gary and mom to Alex & Evan. I work and attend college full time while chauferring my children to their various activities. My life is crazy busy and I wouldn't have it any other way!(most of the time) I started on my life changing journey in August of 2010. After being denied private health insurance and seeing my young Dad's health decline, partially from excess weight I realized I couldn't put it off any longer. That became my Aha! moment. I was still healthy enough to exercise and do what needed to be done, but I would need to do everything it took to get healthy, no cutting corners. It was a rough first couple of months but I had a lot of support from everyone. Once I started seeing results it got a lot easier. I'm also incredibly stubborn and like to finish what I start. And heaven forbid anyone tells me I can't do something! I started out at 285 pounds(I'm 5'7"). I had to get down to 221 pounds to be able to get health insurance. I am proud to say I was able to get my health insurance in April of this past year. I am currently at 171 pounds and my goal is 145. I'd like to reach my goal weight before our long awaited vacation at the end of March but I've hit a major plateau the last month or so. Even though I'm doing everything the way I think I'm supposed to the weight loss has slowed/stopped. I'm researching various websites to try and tweak things and get things started again. I have a very simple plan: I count every calorie I eat and stick to a certain calorie count each day. I also work out 6 days a week for at least an hour. Right now, I've alternating between Richard Simmons(fun!) and P90X and this week I'm adding jogging/running. I try to switch things up so my muscles won't get used to a schedule and not cooperate. I also try not to burn myself out on any one thing. Well, now that I've completed my novel(sorry!) I'll sign off for now. Good luck everyone!:flower3: I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Congratulations on all your success and sharing your AHA! moment! Does anyone else have any they would like to share? You are doing so great! I'll bet you feel like a brand new person! Thanks for your motivation! :yay::hug:

Good morning, everyone! Still cruising here, and I'm giving tons of credit to this challenge. I knew I'd be rededicating myself to WW (I'm our company's liaison for our at work session), but I needed an extra push, and I think this is it. I can't remember the last time I exercised seven days in a row! I started Jillian's Ripped in 30 this morning, and she kicked my butt on the abs - I did pretty well on the cardio and strength sections. I will happily take a day off from her on the weekend! Then I did 30 minutes on my bike, 8.6 miles on the fat burner program. While watching the new Hungry Girl episode. :)

Breakfast today is one of my favorites - it's my cereal mash-up:

1/2 cup Cheerios
1/3 cup Uncle Sam cereal
1/2 cup blueberries (when in season, and I got some good ones at BJ's this weekend!)
1 sliced banana
1/4 cup 1% milk

Stir it all up and nosh. Uncle Sam is great for fiber, flaxseed, etc., and I love getting all that fruit in one quick meal.

I bring apples and have one for breakfast - it's cheaper than buying them on property, but I would definitely do that as well if I didn't have them with me! I also pack a Luna bar for each day and make that the other part of my breakfast. That and a refilled bottle of water as we head out for the day seems to get me off to a great start.

Buffets are also a good opportunity for me - I try to make sure that at least half of my plate has fruit and vegetables on it on any given trip.

I love seafood, so I tend toward fish and shellfish at table service restaurants. I read the preparations carefully and am definitely not shy about asking to have "unhelpful" ingredients removed or substituted.

At quick-service locations, I'll often get a pack of grapes, typically part of a kids' meal, for myself. Eating them one at a time takes a little while, and I'm therefore not spending that time eating fries or ice cream.

I treat myself to something awesome every day that I'm only going to find at WDW (in addition to reasonable desserts at dinner!). If it's my MegaSuperAwesome Treat - the dark chocolate caramel cookie at Karamelle-Kuche in Germany - I get half of it when I buy it and half of it the next day. If they're out (and sadly they often are), I get one of the giant dipped strawberries. Heavenly. :cloud9:

Hope everyone has a great Monday!
XO
Liz

Good luck on WW! That's waht I'm doing too!

this accountability thing must be getting to me...GOOD!

i skipped my workout this morning and i felt the need to confess. i'm just really not feeling good -- queasy, weak, fatigue...typical for post-op pituitary surgery but ugh i just feel crappy. i'm trying to push through, i have an appt at 1 so i did shower and i'm heading out the door for it and a stop at trader joes. i could really talk myself out of it, but maybe the sunshine will perk me up

Its funny how the accountability comes when we have this board that is wondering how we are doing? I just love it! Thanks Team Mickey!! We rock! :cool2::banana::worship:
Hello team!
Breakfast was good with yogurt and almonds. Had my morning coffee black, been doing well drinking water and have done 30 mins on the elliptical. Enjoying a salad for lunch. I plan to get on the elliptical again this afternoon. My afternoon snack is a banana and apple. I also brought strawberries. This evening is a mystery.
Way to go! Keep on rockin'! :cool1::thumbsup2

So glad nothing is badly injured! Take the doc's advice and heal completely! Good luck on your college program journey! Take care of yourself! Share with the group, please, any WDW dining / exercise options you discover along the way! :thumbsup2:woohoo:

I need someone to talk me down.
I just got into a shouting match with the principal. I lost my cool, but I'm sorry it was justified.
There is a kid at school that is a trouble maker and he gets away with murder. I'm so over it. Today he hit my kid. The school is saying it was an accident. Every freakin' day it's an accident, just today it was my kid. Blah Blah Blah, he's impulsive. Kids frontal lobes don't develop until their teens. Yada Yada I'm sorry I've raised 3 boys, one with impulsive behaviors, guess what, he knows how to control himself when the need arises. Don't freakin make excuses and stop drinking the Blinkville kool-aid.
Oh and to the teacher who called the principal down to the cafeteria, bite me. Yes I told my kid to gather up about 8 of his friends and kick your precious pet students butt, he needs it. This would be the same teacher who hid the precious student when the rest of the damn school was in lock down because he ran away.

OK gotta go cool my jets, I'll be back.
Oh and FWIW, I am pulling DS11 from this school tomorrow and sending him to Catholic school with his brother and sister. I had planned on doing it at the end of the week, but today was the nail in the coffin.

WOW! That is so crazy! You are wise to pull your kid out. Why is it there is always one kid that seems to have immunity at school, and they can do no wrong. Ever. Well, good for you that you have other options for your kid. Hugs to you!

Have an OP week :goodvibes

:cheer2: Congratulations to all the Superstars and especially Buckeye Fan and frndshpcptn and to Team Donald! With over 200 pounds lost we are ALL winners!:woohoo:

In other news today, our kitten is off getting spayed. We told DD7 and DD5 that she was having an operation and would need to stay overnight at the vet tonight. They were cool with that and didn't think much of it. Until...at dinner, I told the family that the vet called as soon as the operation was done to let me know that Sofia was doing great and to talk about her follow-up care (we pick her up tomorrow). The girls thought that was great, and then DD7 looked up and said, "So...why did Sofia need an operation?" :)

I haven't decided on the veggie yet, but I think I'll do some steamed broccoli with our garlic herb shaker for some flavor...and I'll get extra broccoli for my fry sacrifice. All that leaves me 3 points, assuming I don't add any other snacks - hm, wine or VitaTop?
Definitely the wine!:thumbsup2 What is the garlic herb shaker you mentioned?

Hope kitty is doing okay. Does she get the cone of shame?

first let me congratulate TEAM DONALD on their week 1 win!! i can't believe how CLOSE the results were. makes me wonder if i had just used the bathroom before i weighed in if we would have tied

i have a little :yay: moment to share. i fed the baby last night at 9pm and then not again until 3am! woot! so i got almost 5 hours straight (i read for a little after feeding him and awoke before 3 when he was squirming and making piglet noises.

I usually have a yogurt or a hot chocolate. Snacks are where I get my dairy. Sometimes I will have some soup. For a sweet treat I am usually okay with one square of Ghirardelli dark chocolate.

:yay: for sleeping! That is always such a nice treat when you can get a few more hours in.

:rotfl2: New BL Rule! Everyone must be sure to go potty before their official weigh in! :lmao:

My sister sent me (as usual and much welcomed!) a box of Frango dark chocolate mints for Christmas. I haven't even cracked the packaging yet because I'm afraid of eating the whole box in one sitting. But I think I might separate the box into 2-piece packages and use those for craving snacks, too.
I was so glad that my sister didn't send me any this year but I do miss them. She usually sends me Frango mints and a box of my absolute favorite Fannie May Trinidads. She only sent the Trinidads. But the box was delayed so I only had 3 days to finish them before the 1st of Jan so there are still about 10 left. I have been rationing one a day.

Yesterday was a pretty great start. I drank my H2O and did my 20 minutes of exercise. I know that I wouldn't have done either without this challenge. So THANKS!

Today I will start recording my food. I don't get to eat it if I'm not willing to write it down!

Have a great day all. Heading off to let Jillian kick my butt for 20 minutes!
:cheer2: You are doing great!

good morning teammies!! i can't believe we lost over 100 lbs in just one week!! well, not even one week!! we rock!

however, i'm not rockin' like i could be. i think i'm not eating enough during the day, then tooo hungry by early evening and just guessing on the rest of my day's calories. snap out of it! today i will journal 100% --
I have mentioned before that one thing that helps me if I am getting off track or having trouble staying on track is what I call Reverse Journaling. Instead of writing down everything after you eat it you plan it all out ahead of time and write it all in advance. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, treats and drinks. Then you eat what is written in your plan and nothing else. I just check off when I do have it. And of course if you go off plan then you must add it in. Especially with Weight Watchers I found I had to have each day planned in advance to stay within the right points level. When it is time to eat you don't have to think about it or search for something-- which often leads to grabbing something you shouldn't-- you just get what is on the list.

Good Morning! I did great yesterday and hoping to write my food down today!

When do we weigh in?

The official Weigh in day is Friday. You send your weight in to the weight keeper every Friday. But there is some wiggle room over the weekend so as long as you have it to her by Monday it is usually fine.

And your creamy chicken chili was delicious! :thumbsup2 I think next time I make it I might use hominy as a substitute for the great northern beans but I don't know how that works with the SB plan. DH would like you to post some more recipes! :goodvibes
:rotfl: Glad he liked it! I am trying to get more of my recipes on my computer so I will have to try to also post them. Hominy doesn't really work with South Beach but would probably be a good sub if you don't like the beans. I like beans and the fiber and good carb they add. You can also use any white beans so you might prefer Navy Beans because they are small. But I did tell the family I think it would be good with corn added too (not allowed on SB but they can have it). Dh wanted some Green Peppers added. I despise green peppers so that won't be happening!

Sounds like you still got some great exercise. Hope your son is feeling better and he doesn't share this with the rest of the family.

I'm the same way as you. Small bag of chips. When it's done, I'm done. Huge bag of chips (enough for a group of people). WHen it's done, I'm done. That's why I don't buy Doritos anymore! I can't help myself!
My problem is that those small bags always have friends in the box they came in so even stopping at one bag is difficult for me sometimes.:guilty:

The concept of the Keurig works great for DH and I because he loves his thick and dark and I like mine rather light. There are tons of different types of cups out there so it is pretty easy to find something you like. The problem is that you have to buy boxes to try it.

I thought that Green Mountain had bought out the original Keurig company. I had heard rumor that it was because Keurig was having so much problems getting machines that worked so Green Mountain took over so they could keep it from going under so they could keep selling the coffee. I am sure the machines are a loss. I have decided I am NOT buying anymore coffee. I have several months worth right now. When it is gone I am going back to my regular one cup coffee maker. DH will probably keep using the Keurig. It is behaving right now but still making terrible noises. Will see if it stops working again.

I think they are building a coffee Roasting and packaging facility and distribution center? I read about it too-- probably in the same newspaper ;)

Went to bed around 10:30 last night and slept until 9:30 this morning:scared1: Don't know what brought that on, i haven't slept 11 hours straight in forever. But i needed it. I was so wiped out Sunday and yesterday, but i feel like a new person this morning. to them and then I'll throw it out to my sister and see where we'll go from there.
Love those nights when get a great sleep!:thumbsup2
You might ask about the horse thing on the CB. There are several horse people there and I think a dedicated thread for horse lovers. They may be able to help you out.

Just choose an activity and tell yourself 5 minutes, then when that is over, if its feeling good 5 more, soon you will have a lot of time in when you get "in the zone". It has worked for me before and I hope it works for you! I have been there!
What great advice!:thumbsup2:cheer2:

Not getting a whole lot done today. I had planned to be at home all day but got up and got out the crock pot to make dinner and realized I didn't have any salsa. :headache: Needed to get bread and lettuce anyway so figured I better get going and just get it over with. I hope my frozen chicken is cooked by 6:30.

Then decided to actually cook for lunch instead of leftovers and made some Chicken Lettuce Wraps I have been dying to try. They turned out really yummy, and a lot easier to make than I thought. I did tweak the recipe quite a bit. It looked so pretty on the plate I even took a picture of it! And it made enough for 2 so I have lunch for tomorrow.

I need to try to get my pots and pan cabinet organized. And now have to clean the kitchen since I trashed it for lunch!
