Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Morning all,

Getting caught up at home. Just went through my spice cabinet, We were going to make chili and cornbread but I couldn't find any beans so we are going to make beanless turkey chili. Maybe Ash will eat it as well. We have chipotle peppers that we will add to the chili. I'm going to use crushed tomatoes so it will be thicker. Got plenty of chili spices so we will be good. Brian and I cleaned the kitchen and now I'm going down to reorganize my laundry room and put the coffee pot away. I think I will have some water too!

It's 10 degrees here so we are going to build a fire in the fire place later. izzie has a friend coming over at noon and then she has Daisies at 3. Really hoping I didn't have to go out today but at least it's before dark.

Time to get moving again. I'll work out later. Ash also needs my lap top to finish up her homework. I want it all done today so we can enjoy the day off tomorrow.

TTFN :tigger:

Good morning everyone! Just checking in to say have a great day! The scale hasnt budged but I've completed 2 5ks on my treadmill in the past week. In between I've been doing less. I'm still going to keep plugging away though!

Jumping on really quick to say morning!!

Busy day today, we are purging books. DH and DS15 are having a really hard time letting go of paper books. We made 3 piles: donate, keep, check for availability on Kindle. We are keeping the paper copies for the kindle pile until we can buy the book on kindle. We've emptied 5 boxes out of the basement!!!
We are off to a grand start of our plan to unload the house by 1/2!
Today we finish books and start tackling toys. The boys are getting older and really need to scale back the amount of toys they have.

Gretchen you look fabulous! I hope you are having a blast!!

Kristina safe travels today.

Everyone else I hope everyone has a great day!!!

So we were discussing this plan (dh actually wants to do another $5 per pound from his separate account we have for his work expenses) and Corinne asks is she can go shopping with me as I lose the weight. When we asked her why she said, "Because I want to go shopping with you when you are happy to be buying clothes. You are never happy when shopping for yourself".

Oh, wow, you struck such a strong chord for me with this one! My DDs are now 7 and almost 5, and I am so afraid of passing on my poor body image to them. Even as I get thinner and know (in my head) that I look better and better), I'm still so critical of my appearance when I'm doing things like trying on clothes. I don't ever want to see the day when one of my daughters turns around in the dressing room, sighs, and says, "I hate clothes shopping - I look so awful in everything."

The upside is that I've been making myself find positive things to say about myself when I'm trying on new clothes, whether the girls are with me or not. I've started blaming the clothes and not myself when they don't fit right. :lmao: I've also taken to occasionally standing in front of the bathroom mirror buck naked (the horror!!) and finding one good thing to say about my reflection that has nothing to do with eyes or hair. ;)

Thanks for posting this! I feel like having healthy girls is just as important as having a healthy me, and the healthy me is where that starts.

Okay this isn't going to be to terribly long because its going on midnight in TX and I need to get to bed.

Plans for the morning include getting up, getting checked out, and heading to the cemetary to visit Josh and Maddie's (my late husband and 2 year old daughter's) resting place. Its a bit out of the way but I told Alan that was the only reason I wanted to go with him to begin with. Plus, its been a year since I've been out there. The anniversary of their death is in 12 days and I know going to visit will help me to get through the next few weeks. The days leading up to the anniversary tend to be the hardest. The day of I'll actually be in Daytona Beach with Alan relaxing and just trying to take some time for myself.

Surprisingly even though I've been eating out the last few days I've stayed within my calorie range.

Well, I'm off to bed. I'll update when we get to our hotel in Pensacola tonight (its after midnight).

Was thinking of you this morning after reading this about your visit to the cemetary. Hoping the day at the beach gives you what you need.

Fantastic that you stayed within your calorie range! I blew it this week calorie wise but did great with exercise, water, fruits and veggies! Unfortunately, my pot roast turned out so good I overdid it with the servings and the magnetism of Krispy Kreme sucked me right in!

After midnight?!! You need another day to recover!

So that is a new goal for me... to lose enough weight that I can go shopping with my daughters and enjoy it and buy things for me!!

This is such a good goal! I still enjoy shopping for clothes pretty well but I'm going to take your goal and use it for myself too! After losing weight, the selection and just the way so many more outfits feel when you slip into them is heavenly!

Good morning fellow losers and maintainers :flower3:

These threads are flying, so I'm not even going to attempt to keep up with them and all the weigh-ins that have been coming in.

I did want to jump in quick and remind people to keep sending their weigh-ins. We're seeing some great results this week :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a great Sunday :goodvibes

I'll get my weigh-in to you today! Thanks for the reminder! Good Sunday to you too!

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around much but I've been really busy! I have today and probably tomorrow off, and I think my roommates and I are going to do some parks today. I have a cold, but I was able to sleep for about 9 hours last night so I'm feeling a little better. I'm going to straighten up my room, go do some laundry, go get our missing kitchen supplies and update the blog.

I had a bit of a NSV yesterday. I got all dressed up in my business clothes and took a picture. The pictures didn't turn out that great, but I realized that I actually looked slim-ish! Then when I went to costuming later in the day, I found that Disney really does not want you to look attractive at all. The shirt fits pretty well, but the pants are ridiculous. I was a size 20 in pants (normally I'm like a 16) and they assume that if you have a large waist, you must also have a large butt and hips. There is so much extra fabric around my hips and thighs that I can literally pull it like a foot away from my legs. But here's a picture of me in my costume.
DSCN0841.JPG

Hi Gretchen! You look great in the Disney costume, baggy pants and all! So motivating to hear that your looking slim-ish! I'm not there yet but I'm working on it. Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Brian and I cleaned the kitchen and now I'm going down to reorganize my laundry room and put the coffee pot away. I think I will have some water too!

TTFN :tigger:

LOL: "I think I will have some water too!" You go girl!

Good morning everyone! Just checking in to say have a great day! The scale hasnt budged but I've completed 2 5ks on my treadmill in the past week. In between I've been doing less. I'm still going to keep plugging away though!

My scale hasn't moved either but I did good on my exercising. I added weights in addition to my elliptical routine. You've done so well on the treadmill!!

Healthy Habits Update: I have caught up on all my PMs. If you did not receive a reply from me, please PM me again. Thanks!

Good Afternoon Mickeys!

Just finished eating lunch. It was OP, but could have been better. Luckily, I know what dinner is, so I should be good for today!

I mentioned a few pages back that you might want to get a plastic box to put your GF stuff in so maybe you want think about that, and get one with a lock!:lmao:

Glad you are liking WW-- I think it does help to have a specific plan to follow. I have a recipe for some GF cheese bread/buns here that we liked. If I come across it I will send it to you.

I completely forgot to mention that I organized everything GF. I guess it needs improvement. :rolleyes1 And a lock! :rotfl:

WW is going well. I am down a bit since my last weigh-in. I think cross-referencing points with calories is helping. I'm also trying to keep my water intake up.

Hi Tracey! :yay: for Ash winning her game!

Kristina:  and safe travels home to FL!

So that is a new goal for me... to lose enough weight that I can go shopping with my daughters and enjoy it and buy things for me!!

Love this! :thumbsup2

Gretchen: You look great!

:cool1: I think I've mentioned before how my mom has an "item of the week" rule. Every week, we have to throw one thing away or donate it. Last week, I got rid of a pile of clothing. (I was a few weeks behind schedule. :rolleyes1)

Thanks for posting this! I feel like having healthy girls is just as important as having a healthy me, and the healthy me is where that starts.

:thumbsup2 This brought me to tears. You two are both awesome mothers!

hi all! a quick check in and confession that i ate like crappola this weekend. don't worry -i'll get back to it tomorrow!

last night DH and i went to dinner with my aunt and uncle (they live across the street) and left the kids with a baby sitter. that was the first time we'd been out to dinner without children since when my first little guy, now 2.5, was 8 weeks old!

off to do a couple things before the giant game. go big blue :)

Happy Sunday, Loser Mickeys!!!!

QOTD Sunday, January 15: On this day in 1905, composer and songwriter Allie Wrubel is born in Middletown, Connecticut. He collaborated with lyricist Ray Gilbert on the song "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" for the film Song of the South which won the Oscar for Best Song in 1947. So what song gets YOU going and pushes you to keep moving???

I'll start! Right now for me the big songs are: Jai Ho (Pussycat Dolls), a lot of Lady Gaga, Stacy's Mom (Fountains of Wayne), Gettin' Jiggy With It (Will Smith), Welcome to the Jungle (G&R), American Idiot (Green Day)...

What gets YOU going?

Um, raising my hand sheepishly to say same here. Glad you at least got out to dinner sans children. For me, also not the best eating choices this weekend. Not a complete disaster, but sure could have been better. Going to dinner @ Outback now, will make good choices. Ran my 3 miles (got a cramp, thought I wouldn't make it, but I slowed down even more and made it through), week 1 of my HM training plan under my belt!

Tomorrow is another day:goodvibes

Hi all: quick check-in to say hi and that I'm eating what i want this weekend because today is my birthday:dance3: So yeah, I can have it.

Also went to sell jewelry yesterday and went to 2 places for quotes. A jewelry store which would have taken most of it and a Pawn shop which did not. jewelry store offered $145 if I was in a hurry, and $185 if i waited 2 weeks. Well, i can wait 2 weeks, but lets see what the Pawn shop has to say. Went across the street to the shop and they handed me back most of my stuff and kept a few small pieces for $235. SOLD!!!

So now i have to decide on my money. Some will go to my AVON business, some for me and some for me and DH. Haven't worked out just how much for each though. But I'm happy.

And debating on whether to try and sell what's left at a different place. Not going back to jewelry store #1.

Have a great weekend everybody:cool1:

And 1 final thought for y'all

GO PACK GO!!!!

Oh, man, there are so many, but one that has gotten me going for years is "My Sharona" - there's just something about the kick-in well into the song that keeps me moving fast. :) I'm a music junkie, so I could write a long time on this, but that one definitely does it!

And, funny enough, I grew up the next town down from Middletown, CT!

I'm having an awesome, if off-plan night, tonight - enjoying one of my two favorite teams in the NFL playoffs while also watching the Golden Globes, complete with my traditional indulgence in a bag of dark chocolate m&m's. They have been tracked. The WHOLE bag. :)

Have you heard of paperbackswap.com? It's a great website you join and post at least 10 books or something like that and get credits. People will then request books from you, after you mail them you get a credit per book... you can use those credits to order books you want. I started using this when I had to clean out our spare room to make it into my son's nursery. I like it cause it gives me a chance to get books that I want to read but don't really want to read or buy on the kindle.

So yesterday, My oldest Corinne (13) gave me something major to think about in this weight loss journey I've started on.....

We were all on our way to the girls gymnastics practice and Dh and I were discussing my rewards for my weight lost. What we have decided on, is I get $5 for every pounds lost to put on my PayPal card for clothes. I have thought long about this, & I decided I sabotage myself every time I set out to do this because I am worried about having the money to purchase new, smaller clothes. The last few years have been a real roller coaster of job loss, disability, new jobs...etc Finances have been tight, and the thought of needing new clothes for me seemed impossible.

I had never really thought about it. I only buy for myself when I absolutely have to because I hate how things look on me, the lack of selection available or just the fact that there is nothing to choose from.

So that is a new goal for me... to lose enough weight that I can go shopping with my daughters and enjoy it and buy things for me!!

You have a very very sweet daughter! I say that is a great motivator and kudos to your family for that amazing support.

UGH I ate like crap today! My son asked me for chocolate chip pancakes and bacon today. Then I had leftover for pizza last night. My DH bought some steaks for dinner tonight so I made steak, mashed potatoes and green beans.... watching the Golden Globes now and will be having a drink and sweets later... I need to bust my behind this week at the gym!

On the plus side I took down all our xmas decorations today so that burned at least the pancakes. ;)

I LOVE STACY'S MOM! Lol its one of my favorite song :rotfl: For me anything Lady Gaga, anything Pitbull and Waka Waka by Shakira.

Hi all: quick check-in to say hi and that I'm eating what i want this weekend because today is my birthday:dance3: So yeah, I can have it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Okay well we left Texas around 9am. We got to Pensacola around 8. I did okay on food this morning and afternoon. Dinner was terrible in the calorie count area. I had 3 pieces of pepperoni and sausage pizza, 4 wings, and 20 ounce bottle of Dr Pepper. Alan is asleep and I'm watching Friends on Nick at Nite.

We'll get up in the morning and finish the 6 hour drive home. I'm assuming we'll be home early afternoon. Probably won't do much but get our bags unpacked, take care of animals, and relax. I'll get back on track Tuesday.

Oh, and I'm totally excited for the new season of Royal Pains to start on Wednesday! I'm going to set the DVR and record them each Wednesday. I need to order season 3 and watch it. Then I'll go back and start watching the new episodes of season 4. It just would feel weird watching this new season without watching last season.

Hope everyone has a great Monday! I need to get to sleep..

Just reporting in...

4M + 4M + 4M + 11M + no candy at work = manicure! :yay:

I did it! I did all my scheduled runs and did not snack at work this week, so I'm going to give myself a manicure. :goodvibes

Now I just have to keep my snacking reasonable during the playoffs this weekend, and I will be all set :thumbsup2

I need a new reward for the same thing next week -- I'm thinking I might go crazy and do a pedicure :rotfl: Winter feet are neglected soles in my house ;)

Maria :upsidedow

Worfiedoodles I like the way you do math! :)

Evening Mickeys!

Today was another busy day in our house. We spent most of the day with my sister and BIL at their place. My sister and I did some shopping as well. I didn't buy anything really exciting for myself. I did get another package of socks. I am convinced that we have a mouse in our dryer. :rotfl2:

I stayed almost OP. I am slightly over my calories, but okay on points. I rejoined Weight Watchers on Thursday. I like the "new" version of Points+ better than the original version as of now. I did not do well with the original at all. I am going to give it a chance for a few weeks and see the results. My emotional support comes from all of you! Weighing-in in front of a person is just extra motivation. ;)

I'm not sure what tomorrow is going to look like yet. Dinner will be leftovers, so OP. Lunch will be fine. I may attempt a GF baked good-type breakfast, like muffins. So far, they have been a disaster. My parents respectfully refer to them as "mystery muffins." :rolleyes1

I also have to talk to my parents about where my GF corn flakes and GF Rice Krispies went. :confused3 I know they taste like the real thing, but the corn flakes are expensive!

I think my plan for tomorrow involves grocery shopping. The good news is that I only need to go to one store! I spent some time looking at sales ads today and narrowed it down to the one store. Then, I worked on a basic list. I'll finish making my list either later tonight or tomorrow morning. I have this strange quirk with my computer and it refuses to connect to the printer network, so I have to use a computer connected to a printer. That, of course, means that I have to share with my parents. :rotfl:

Now, I could handwrite the list, but it's takes seconds to click on the item in the circular and then have the store's website print out a list. One of my pet peeves is wasting time and it already takes long enough to grocery shop. I appreciate one aspect of grocery shopping going quickly.

Ok. Enough rambling and venting.

I think I will spend some time job searching and then work on the grocery list. I am wide awake so I doubt I'll be going to bed anytime soon. I might as well be productive tonight since I forsee myself sleeping in tomorrow. :headache:

Have a great night Mickeys! :goodvibes

cclovesdis Hope the shopping went well. I love printable lists too. Not many places here have them though.

Okay this isn't going to be to terribly long because its going on midnight in TX and I need to get to bed.

Okay, now I realized why I HATE driving straight from FL to TX. We left Friday morning at noon. We didn't get to TX til 6:45 this morning. Our GPS had a blonde moment at some point in Louisana and we wound back up in Mississippi somehow. It took us an hour to get turned back around. I slept on and off in the car but was sore as all get out when we finally got to our hotel. We got checked in and immediately crashed. Alan got up a few hours later and went and met with his buddy to pick up the money from the sale of our tow trucks. While he was doing that I stayed at the hotel and talked on the phone with my mom and then called my best friend to figure out what the plans were for the day.

I finished the phone call with bestie and then we ran to Chase to deposit the money. Yeah, that was a fun experience, LOL. The guy that was helping probably thought I had robbed a bank with the amount of cash I came walking in with . We got the bank situation taken care of and then met my bestie at Red Lobster. I had half a salad, shrimp scampi, chicken breasts tenders, mashed potatoes, and a glass of tea.

After lunch Alan took the Juke to the Nissan dealership to get the oil changed and tires rotated. Bestie and I headed to the mall. Back in October when I started this journey all over again I had set rewards for myself for each 10 pounds I lost. My first "reward" was a pedicure. Well, I decided to fore-go the pedicure and do some shopping. Lane Byrant was having their semi-annual sale so I picked up some bras (major need). I saved $28 bucks! Then I went to Bath and Body Works and spent a small fortune , but wound up saving $62 dollars. We had bought tickets to see Beauty and the Beast and sat outside the theater chit chatting before heading in. I got a medium Mr Pibb and a box of Raisinets. I drank maybe a 1/4 of the soda and ate half the box of candy.
She dropped me back off at the hotel and I've been sitting here relaxing since. Alan is asleep already.

Everything is tracked in my Sparkpeople. I had used my app on my Blackberry but went back in tonight and made sure everything was added correctly and tracked everything I had ate today. Surprisingly even though I've been eating out the last few days I've stayed within my calorie range.

Well, I'm off to bed. I'll update when we get to our hotel in Pensacola tonight (its after midnight).

Hugs and thinking of you!

You look great in your costume. Glad you are settling in so well!

What a great activity! It feels good to purge "stuff" as we are purging pounds!

I just got back from Chicago. I will look over the thread tomorrow to try to get caught back up. The conference I was at was amazing and I had fun exploring Chicago by myself a little bit. It felt almost empowering to travel on my own to a big city. I took a taxi to the hotel from Union Station- somethig I have only done one other time before. I decided to walk back to union station today instead of taking the taxi (I was stayign at the Sheraton near Navy Pier for those who know Chicago) so I got a lot of steps in!

I will admit my eating wasn't great. Many of my meals were provided by the coference. On the plus side, I did a a lot of walking yesterday and today. For the week I am showing an average of a 210 calorie surplus, so not quite a pound gained. I don't weigh in until Wednesday, so I have some time to fix that.

One thig that is annoying is that now I no longer have hives on my face, they are on my arms and legs. The cream my doctor gave me seems do nothing. So it's back to the doc. I hope they are open tomorrow.

Hi everyone! Well, good news! I got my longest long run in today. It was due to be 13 miles, and we followed the local half marathon course, but for the actual race they close the roads down for that and on one part there were no sidewalks so we took a detour and my run ended up being 12 miles. Thats fine by me. The great, fabulous, wonderful thing was: I totally ran the first 6.4 miles straight without stopping! First time ever! I am not even sure that I had ran a mile without stopping previously. My trainer just said as we started out "Lets see how long you can run without stopping". A mile came and went, two, three, and I was determined to go for it. At about 6.4 miles I started to slow down considerably, so then the rest of the way did intervals of 3 minutes running, 1 minute walking. At around mile 10 I ran another mile straight (I thought I might croak!!!) and then walked the last mile or so to kind of flush the legs. I have been going nonstop since then. We hosted my husband's work's Christmas party here tonight (they always have it after the holidays). I just have sat down after my run, which ended 12 hours ago!!!! My average pace for my whole 12 miles was 16:25. I hope that translates into something good for race day. I wasn't going for race pace today, but I'm not sure how much faster I will be.

I hope everyone had a fabulous OP day today!
Melinda

MOrning all,

Not feeling great this morning, another headache. I think it is lightening up now though. Got up and watched Downton Abbey and a few other recorded things. Watching a Christmas movie I recorded and never got to watch. Busy day here: Ash has basketball in 45 minutes, Izzie and I will go grocery shopping while that's going on. Then Ash is having her BFF over. I then have to go to work at 4 until a little after 7.

Had a healthy meal protein shake for breakfast and now I'm going to fix myself a cup of tea to take with me. I will have my big meal at lunch today and try and squeeze in a workout sometime this afternoon. Then I will have another shake for supper either before or after work. Going to boost up my protein today and hopefully boost my weight loss!

Need to get moving now!

Hey Mickeys you're so fine! :smickey:

Happy Sunday, Loser Mickeys!!!!

QOTD Sunday, January 15: On this day in 1905, composer and songwriter Allie Wrubel is born in Middletown, Connecticut. He collaborated with lyricist Ray Gilbert on the song "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" for the film Song of the South which won the Oscar for Best Song in 1947. So what song gets YOU going and pushes you to keep moving???

He's a Pirate gets me moving every time. pirate: I pretend I'm running towards Captain Jack Sparrow and he's got a big bottle of rum! :drinking1

Meh! Bad run happen. Sorry!

Hi all: quick check-in to say hi and that I'm eating what i want this weekend because today is my birthday:dance3: So yeah, I can have it.

Happy Birthday, Maureen!:bday: party:

Glad that you enjoyed yourself! :goodvibes

I'm having an awesome, if off-plan night, tonight - enjoying one of my two favorite teams in the NFL playoffs while also watching the Golden Globes, complete with my traditional indulgence in a bag of dark chocolate m&m's. They have been tracked. The WHOLE bag. :)

Sounds like a great day, Liz, and way to track! :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing this, Bicki! :goodvibes I will go and check it out.

Kristina, glad that you had a safe journey. :flower3:

Jess, hope they can find something to help you soon. :thumbsup2

Melinda, great job on the run yesterday! :thumbsup2 Your long training runs are supposed to be above your training pace so you will be fine. ::yes::
It won't be long now. Soon it will be time to obsessively watch the weather! :tink:

Tracey, thanks for mentioning Downton Abbey. I've been catching up on season 1 on Netflix and I love it.

Gretchen, I'm loving your updates and all your pictures. :cool2: Disney costuming is traditionally kind of wacky. It looks comfortable. Be sure you get the most comfortable shoes, even if they are not the most attractive, I still remember I wore pumps my first day and it was a big, big mistake. Thanks for sharing! :flower3:

I've been reasonably on plan this week-end. Finally seem to be caught up on my rest and feeling like I have my mojo back. Time to do a little :laundy: and get ready for another week.

Have a great day Mickeys! ::MickeyMo
