Team Focker Watch, Part 12. Have we jumped the shark yet?

Shhhhh I really live in San Diego and fake my accent.
I had my new slate hearth fitted today and who knew that slate chips and because it's "natural" has arrived with iregularities. It still looks good but not quite what I expected IYKWIM!
OK, Jo, you actually made me snort when I read that first line. Good thing I didn't have a drink in my mouth. I love that slate and your purrrfect furbaby.

Gawd, I hope so! But I woke with the beginnings of a migraine, so the jury's still out... :headache:

Well, my decision to stick my angry head in the sand and deal only with what I absolutely must has helped some; I'm considerably less stressed today. I do have this nasty headache hanging around, but I think that's weather related. ENOUGH with the rain already! :mad:

Been dealing with a lot of Leo stuff lately. We've long suspected the possibility of high-functioning autism and/or something else along those lines but if it's there, it's so minimal that it didn't seem to be a barrier. It seems like maybe it's become more of a problem with school, though, so I set about trying to find some help. What a freaking nightmare. Tried one psychologist who immediately wanted $600 worth of testing that isn't covered by insurance. Uh, no. I don't have that right now. (Bonehead's STILL not paying. Grrr.) And like I said - it's not like Leo's in terrible shape; we just need some guidance and tools to help him out. So he's got an appointment with someone else in a few weeks who sounds like a better fit. Here's hoping! :wizard:

Meanwhile the refi I began in early Oct. is just now getting ready to close. It's crazy how backed-up the banks are. Hopefully, it'll be done by next week.

Work... still sucks 90% of the time. But I've been busier this week, which helps a lot. So does avoiding people.
:hug:$600- Holy money hoarders! That's disgusting. All of the medical stuff is disgusting. I saw on Doug's medical insurance that there is a lifetime cap of $1,000,000. That seems like a lot until you find out that a PET scan costs $7,500! He is only 37 years old.
I hope that things at work get turned around. Oh, yeah and all banks are shiesters too!

:hug::hug::hug: Kristel, you and Doug are in our thoughts and prayers.
Thanks, Tracy!

Oh, Kristel. :hug: Let us know how things are going.
******************************************************
My hair is nicely trimmed. :) I went to Target and picked up some stuff, nothing too exciting. I did pick up a nice rugby-style shirt and a gorgeous cream cabled turtleneck sweater from the Land's End sale - got both for a grand total of $27. :thumbsup2

Now I'm having leftover chili and am just hanging. Nothing after school today, and I put the chicken & noodles in the crock pot before I left this morning.
Thanks. MMMM chicken and noodles. Great bargain shopping!

Hi Jo, I am still around. I read the thread a lot, I just feel like my life is utterly boring compared to all of you :rotfl:. We did have something great happen yesterday.

Bill's advisor let him substitute the last class he needed with a class he had already taken. Bill is graduating from Southern Illinois University in May with a Masters in Rehabilitation Administration. School's out FOREVER as of yesterday!!

I am so proud of him!!
That is SUPER! He is such an outstanding individual.

Kristel- Thinking of you guys and sending good thoughts!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well since there was a huge "storm watch" yesterday I changed my plans all around and woke up to nothing this morning. It snowed but it was gone by this afternoon. Thanks universe for messing me up.
I am going to stay in anyway tho, maybe bake some Biscotti I never got around to making before. I am also making some Hash Brown Chili for dinner so we have leftovers for the weekend in case we come home hungry, and then Sunday I won't have to cook!
I do have the whole house to do a once over of, and I am trying to streamline all our clutter. Sometimes I just feel like we have too much crap out in the house. With the prospect of new people coming over Saturday I feel the need to fix the clutter.
Anyways off to be productive, I Hope.
Thank you, Kat! I think my streamlining of clutter = moving it from one corner to another until it ends up in the trash bin. It's slow but does get results.:laughing:
Kristel :hug: :hug: Sending lots of good mojo your way. Please keep us posted.
:wave2: Hi girls! Another crazy week. I'm tallying up cookie orders - what a nightmare! Ugh!
Have a great day! :hippie:
Thank you, thank you! You know, I could eat 2 boxes of the shortbreads at this very moment-with a big alcoholic beverage, seriously. It wouldn't be pretty.
Thank you, Janet too!
Doug hasn't had any more seizures. The doctor upped his anti-seizure meds a bit. We got a CD of the MRI pics. Since I'm not a doctor, I'm not sure if it is good or bad. I can definitely see where the swelling is. Can't tell where that ends and tumors begin though.:sad1:
I did manage to get some sleep from 3PM to 6PM. Then I fixed 'breakkie' for supper.
His appt. with the dr. in Indy is at 10AM. The Avastin 'infusion', such a smooth, innocent sounding word, is at 1PM. I don't think we'll be home before 4PM. I am taking off this set of work so I can deal with this without being distracted. My job can be dangerous if you aren't alert. I was going to be off Friday anyway so it's just a couple of extra days.
Now let's hope that the NWS is correct on the landing time of this huge storm that is headed our way - JOY! It is supposed to start snowing in Indy around 7AM on Fri. with 4"-8" being dumped. I am assuming it will hit us about an hour later. Then it is going to be windy Fri evening which will be terrible, especially out here in the boonies. My freezer is stocked and we went to the grocery store on Monday - we should be OK.
That's it. I'll keep you informed.
Just a quick post as I leave in the morning for DISNEY:banana:
Tomorrow I will be eating at Raglan Road with Winkers !!!!!!!!!
Have fun, Rosie! :goodvibes I do so adore Raglan Road...
Have fun, Rosie!!! :yay:
Mmmmm... in my mind I'm drinking a strongbow cider and having a scallop forrest. :cloud9:
V- I hope you can figure out what Leo needs. Being a momma's hard sometimes, I know. :guilty: :hug:
I'm getting to be first too often! :rotfl:
Good morning!
Ugh. This morning just felt rushed and hectic. Between not sleeping well - D seems to have a milder version of my "dread disease" and so between the two fo us, there was a lot of coughing, turning, and tossing - and then being ski club day (which involves extra snacks) and Buzz needing a cold lunch... Plus, I remembered as they were getting their snow stuff on that I needed to provide the PATT volunteer coordinator with 10 $1 gift certs to the next book fair as prizes for tomorrow night's Bingo Night. I don't want to go to school today, so I needed to get them into a kid's folder.
I talked to Deb yesterday - we usually Super Bowl together, but her DH is on the trip Sunday to Argentina with D, and her DH wanted her to tag along. (Since she's a pilot, she can fly for free...) Anyway, we also need to plan out some of our Maine skiing trip and she wanted to tell me some interesting stories that she's been encountering as she cleans out her mom's house. So, after my tennis today, we're having lunch, then I'm tagging along as she gets her hair cut by the third mom of our Maine trip, so that the three of us can plan food and ski days vs. off days, and that kind of thing. :thumbsup2
I need to therefore get moving. I'll shower after tennis and then go meet her, which requires me to remember to take clothes to wear post-shower (I am very bad at remembering a non-sports bra for after :rotfl2:) and it's about time to go!
Hope you all have a great morning. I'll be gone until mid-afternoon, but then D & the kids have ski club, so I am free, baby! :lmao:
See you later! :grouphug:
Rosie, I probably missed you, but have a safe and fun trip.:thumbsup2
Kristel - Keep us posted on Doug:hug:
Kat we are getting the brunt of the same storm What scares me is they have no idea. They are telling us anywhere from 6 to 18 inches.:mad:
Hi T - :wave2: Good luck with counting!:thumbsup2
Hi Dawn :wave:
Hi CE - Enjoy your day!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
So Storm Watch 2010 has begun. They are calling for anywhere from 6 to 18 inches. I could start tomorrow afternoon or tomorrow night. Yeah, they are pretty sure about all this:rolleyes1
All the talk about Chili made me want to make some so I am stopping at the store on my way home tonight (to get the milk, bread and eggs;)) and getting the makings to cook crock pot chili:thumbsup2 If we get hit with this storm, it will be perfect for the weekend.
The OT called yesterday to cancel Jimmy's appointment for today becasue she had a death in the family. Which is fine, since Jimmy didn't have an appointment today:confused3 I have to call and make sure he is on the schedule for Monday becasue that is what I had as his next appointment.
Tomorrow starts the Spring/Easter Candy sale at school This is a new company we are using. It is called Pine River, and everything is $5.00. THe Home and School makes a 50% profit. We shall see how it goes.
Off to get some work done. Chat with you all later.
CE, have a nice lunch. :goodvibes
Rosie, have a great trip! :goodvibes
Kristel, :hug:
Kat, I hope the weather stays away. :goodvibes
Not a big difference. :rotfl:
Tomorrow starts the Spring/Easter Candy sale at school
That sounds like a good deal for the school. Good luck. :goodvibes
Waiting for the pool guy again. I've already been to the grocery to make a chicken artichoke casserole for dinner. I think chili is for tomorrow. I also have plenty of Super Bowl food for the two of us because I couldn't decide what to make so I'll make it all. :rotfl2: Making up for all the cooking I didn't do whilst Mitch was gone. Mitch has his Army weekend, but I think he'll be able to do much of it at home as he has lots of paperwork to do now that he's in charge of the pharmacy.
Not a big difference. :rotfl:
No, not at all;)
That sounds like a good deal for the school. Good luck. :goodvibes
Thanks!
What are you making. I'm trying to come up with some ideas. It is just us, becasue it is too late for Jimmy to be out anywhere. My neighbors may come over. Not sure yet. I am making Chili, but need some other ideas!
+++++++++++++++++++++++
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I have to vent, sorry. My friend is Driving me crazy. They are calling for 6 to 18 inches of snow Friday night into Saturday, right. They had a cookie booth scheduled for Saturday. (Her DD is a Brownie). Anyway the leader cancelled the both because of the impending weather and rescheduled it. SHe is B&^%$ING becasue it was cancelled. Her argument being that it shouldn't be cancelled until it actually snows, becasue this just messes up her plans for the day and if it doesn't snow \..blah, blah....sorry. It just drives me crazy!
I'm making a veggie tray, little smokies, meatballs, Rotel, antipasto skewers and then I have some nuts, chips, whatever else we decide. :rotfl:Definitely a grazing type of day. ;)
:hug: friends!
I saw on Doug's medical insurance that there is a lifetime cap of $1,000,000.
OMG, $1mil over a LIFETIME?! That's nuts. :sad2:
Oh, yeah and all banks are shiesters too!
::yes::
Sending you guys many good thoughts for a positive outcome and no snow issues! :wizard: :hug::hug:
I hope all is well over here. I wish I had more time to keep up...but I'm on the cusp of crazy :crazy2: Just know that I think of you all often.
OK, Jo, you actually made me snort when I read that first line. Good thing I didn't have a drink in my mouth.
Why, don't you believe me? :rotfl2:
Making up for all the cooking I didn't do whilst Mitch was gone.
Jo--where is Tenerife?
And I loved the pics of Boo! ANd your fireplace! Boots has got bigger too--will take some of him soon--he's become the king of the house---flounces around with his tail up and goes in and out of your legs---particularly when I'm on the balance board!
Kate--Hi!!! miss you! What's going on?? Do you Facebook?
Kristel--thinking of you.
Worked today...waiting on snow again tonight. :mad: Tired of snow.
The kids finally had a whole day of school today!
I have been going to the gym again this week! :cool1: Started a new class called Centergy that I like--it's like fast yoga/pilates. If I go 3 times a week for the next 6 weeks, I get a Tshirt!
Kate & V, you should stop by more often. :goodvibes
Jo, you've quite the cooks at home. :thumbsup2 All I made when I was younger was chocolate chip cookies so I've no idea how I came to know how to cook. I guess just watching my mom & g'mom. I want to jet set too. :rolleyes:
Aren't scones sweet:confused3
Only if you add sugar and fruit, you have cheese scones there don't you?
I just put it on FB but Ellie had run a bath and was letting it cool a little (long story but only the hot tap works!!!) when we heard loads of noise, well we run upstairs and this scrawny wet thing runs out of the bathroom. Boo had fallen in the full bath :eek::rotfl2: She likes going in the bath and our shower tray to lick the drips but has never seen the bath actually full so it took her by surprise :rotfl2:
Oh Lost is on here tomorrow :woohoo:
Jo--where is Tenerife?
It's one of the Canary Islands....
