Team Focker Watch: Lucky Number 13!

Dinner was very good and we've all just been vegging. Friday night TV is not great, but for whatever reason, my dad loves the Food Network, so... That's what we've watched. My parents both just headed off for bed. :rolleyes1  :rotfl2:

Sounds relaxing

The one thing you don't want to think about in the same sentence...parants and napping:scared1::lmao:

FLYERS WIN!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Howdy y'all!

Been a crazy busy week! I finally finished my work with the Census... ok, I didn't exactly finish, I opted out. :teeth: My crew only had less than 100 questionnaires left, so I informed my supervisor that when it came time to start laying off crew leaders, I will gladly take the bullet. I know, I'm just too nice. ;)

Anyway, this weekend is Waldo's 75th birthday shindig and I've got so much to get done. Thank god for Mexican caterers, aka The Taco Guy! Do you have that in your areas?

But at least now I can keep up with you Fockers!

V- Hope Leo gets better! He's got 3 weeks to recover. :goodvibes

Angela- Enjoy your weekend with Mitch. I can't believe your sister is due already! That was fast, although she probably thinks differently! Adorable picture of Reid!

Mo - Great pics!! I wanna go to Europe!!! :guilty:

Ok, I know I missed loads... sorry!

Hi Janet, CE, Taz, Jo!:flower3:

Hi T :wave2: Way to take one for the team:lmao: and congrats to the Lakers:thumbsup2

+++++++++++++++++

I forgot to say CE and Angela - Thanks for the packages. They both arrived today:thumbsup2 Checks will be in the mail first thing Monday. Thanks again:hug:

Good morning. Just a quick pop-in from me. The boys just left for baseball. I have to get their stuff packed for the campout, take a shower and run to the store to get the bug spray for them to take with them. When they come back Jimmy needs to take a bath, then it is off to the birthday party. Yes, the party is at a pool, but I figure they don't want baseball grime in their pool. Oh carp...I have to wrap the gift too. Then while Jimmy and I are at the birthday party, Jim is going to pack up the car for the campout. We will come, get Jimmy changed and off they will go.

Hmmm. What to do with myself tonight? I checked the movie listings and thre is nothing out that I am dying to see, so I can't see spending the money. Maybe I will se if my neighbors are home and we can porch hop, or maybe go grab something to eat. Or I could go to blockbuster and see if their is anything I want to watch there. Decisions, decisions, decisions:upsidedow

Hope you all have a great day.:goodvibes

We're supposed to have "near record highs" today - along with possibilities of rain all day long, which seems counter-intuitive. It's only 72 right now, but feels like 99% humidity. Ugh. D is installing the window A/C as we speak.

The baseball game is a go for now - we go in about an hour. The kids are going to be hot in their uniforms, but oh, well.

I don't know what we're doing after that. I hope everyone has a happy Saturday! :grouphug:

It's 90 degrees and his school has no air conditioning. He went swimming and I told him it was OK. Of course my son is mad at me too.
I don't blame him it sounds as though it was far too hot to play baseball!

I know it's not that bad, but for a romantic trip... :confused
It can be freezing here then and the rain too

Ridiculous isn't it. Their starting time is 8:29:confused3
Why???? That is so silly!

Awww that was nice of you :rotfl2: Would you do it again?

Decisions, decisions, decisions:upsidedow
What ever you decide enjoy it :goodvibes

Anyone want 2 kids? It's just mine may be for sale :rotfl2: Hormones have seriously hit my house and the attitude from both of them is crazy!!!! They have settled down now but this morning wasn't pretty :sad2:

It is baking hot here, I want to do some gardening but I'm waiting a while in the hope it cools down a bit. It's meant to rain tomorrow though :sad2:

Meh. It's cloudy and overcast here, but supposed to warm up to 80 this afternoon. I'm feeling a bit of humidity, though. Ugh.
Have fun with the family!

I Awww that was nice of you :rotfl2: Would you do it again?
Perhaps in 10 years, when I've had enough time to recover! :lmao:

Wooboy... I'm glad I only have 1 girl. She's only 8, but the hormones have started. I swear she gets moodier and moodier everyday. Oh and it doesn't help that Evan LOOOOVES to antaganize her. This morning, just to annoy her, he started calling her Norman. :sad2:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Anyway, just thought I'd pop in to say HOLA! I'm off to finish cleaning up, then I've got to pick up the tables and chairs, hit Costco and get everything together. The party isn't until 3pm, so that's good. :thumbsup2

Have a great Saturday! :hippie:

Our AC's have been on for the last three days:sad2:

I hope everyone has a happy Saturday! :grouphug:

You too!

Why???? That is so silly!

Becasue the school year is based on the amount of minutes they are in school as opposed to days:confused3

Even after that rousing endorsement I think I will pass:rolleyes1:rotfl2:

Basebal done. Jimmy bathed and in his bathing suit for the party. Leaving for that in about 10 minutes.

Can you remember last Friday I played a scratch golf comp against another club and the team amazingly won (the other club were previous winners, lower handicaps etc) well today was the return match at their course and originally I couldn't play then my Dad said he'd come down but it was too late as the team had been chosen blah blah blah (the lady who replaced me was a much higher handicap and it's off scratch) well anyway we're through to the next round :cool1: It really is amazing as we're such a small club and we don't have as low handicaps as others and as I said before they've won it before :thumbsup2 So I'm clearing my diary now :rotfl2:

Hey all. They birthday party was a huge success and now the boys are off on their camping trip. They will probably get home around 9:00 or so tomorrow. Still haven't decided what, if anything, I am going to do...soooooooo;) Have a good night :goodvibes

Morning Focker,

T - give Waldo and big hug and kiss and wish him happy birthday for me.

CE - the weather here is disgusting, go outside and can't breath. The poor pugs are lying in front of the air conditioning vents.

Janet - good luck to your Flyers

V - the Euro is much closer to the US$ now (about 1.2 to 1), which is good when I get to the shopping portion:rolleyes1 (I think my credit card is still hiding from me)

Angela - I meant to comment on Reid's pic, OMG how adorable is he!:goodvibes

HI to everyone else!

******************************

Yesterday Murph and I went to see the new Broadway show Come Fly Away, it's with all Frank Sinatra music. The dancing was unbelievable. We went to the matinee and found the nicest French Cafe for lunch. It was so yummy. We were lucky as it was suppose to thunderstorm but they seemed to have missed this area entirely.

I'm going to try to get Day 2 of my trip up later today. Need to sort through the pics and load them to shutterfly first.

It's very quiet here!

We've had a big thunder storm today and David made me come in from cutting a bush down with my metal loppers :confused3 :rotfl: I'm really not sure why? :rotfl2:

Day 2 started early, breakfast at 7, departing for the Vatican at 7:45.

Each day a breakfast buffet was served in a dedicated room for our tour group. The breakfasts in Rome were, um odd. Very strange eggs, canned fruit, meats and cheeses. I stuck to dry cereal and some cheese.

At 7:45 we loaded onto the tour bus and headed to the Vatican. I sat with the same lady (Barb) from last night.

Outside of Vatican City

The wonderful part of being in a tour is you go to the front on the very long line to get into the Vatican. After going through security, very similar to the airport except no taking your shoes off, you ascend up an escalator into the Vatican museum.

Wow, not only beautiful artwork and tapestries, but the walls and ceilings themselves are masterpieces.

Before going to the Sistine Chapel we were shown into a courtyard and told more about Michelangelo’s work. Did you know he has incorporated actual body parts into the work in a subtle way. Modern day doctors have reviewed the work and are amazed at the accuracy and detail. Like the human brain.

This was snapped from a window in the museum.

Thanks to google...Look at the reddish area surrounding the figure on the right. It’s a human brain.

Unfortunately no pics in the chapel. I never realized how extensive the work is, I thought it was just the ceiling, it is the entire chapel. The walls are covered. When I walked in my breath was taken away. My jaw hit the floor. WOW! It truly is one of the world’s most beautiful sites.

Here are pics from outside the chapel though.

From here we were walked down to St Peter’s. It truly is a beautiful Basilica. My bad luck my camera started to act up and pics aren’t great and don’t do justice.

After leaving the Basilica we walked through St Peter’s square to wait for it, wait for it...

The Vatican’s version of the dump shop. I’m not kidding. Now there was some nice things, but a lot of it was cheap looking souvenir type stuff. I wanted to get a rosary beads for my goddaughter’s confirmation. Had a hard time finding a decent pair. We also grabbed some lunch while we were here.

Here are the Swiss guards standing guard.

After lunch we were off to the Coliseum.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY T!!!
:cake:party::bday:party::cake:

just a drive-by... gotta make dinner. Leo's a little better, but nowhere near 100%. :sad1: Looks like he's had the freaking flu.

I'll be back tomorrow - have a good night all!

Again front of the very long line for us. Also I mentioned some fellow travelers from day 1, well we are really getting to know each other and starting to form bonds. I wasn’t a solo traveler very long.

Pics from the Colisuem. This place is unbelievable. What the Romans built with the tools they had is just so impressive. They are trying to preserve it for future generations and are having problems figuring how the Romans built it.

(if you notice the red strap around me that was a radio, with an ear piece, so we could hear the tour guides as we walked through sites, didn't have to be on top of each other to hear, very nice way to tour)

After the Coliseum, it was either back to the hotel or an optional trip to the catacombs and St Paul’s Basilica.

No pics in the catacombs either, but I can tell you it was very interesting to see how they buried the dead back then. You tell where a child was laid, the slots in the wall were so tiny. Some of the families that had money and more elaborate “crypts”. The tour was very interesting and yes it even had a dump shop at the end.

After the catacombs we went to St Paul’s. It is believed to be his remains buried in the Basilica. It was very beautiful, they know how to build churches here. And there are a lot of them. In Rome there are over 900!

On the way back to the hotel we drove past this pyramid. The majority of the pyramid is underground. Only this tiny bit is exposed. Shows the influence the Egyptions had on the Romans, or at least Cleopatra’s influence.

Dinner tonight was an optional and included a drive through what used to be the Borghese estate, dinner at Fellini’s favorite restaurant, a walk past the Spanish Steps and the Trevi fountain.

After driving through the estate, we were dropped off to walk a short distance to the restaurant.

ry%3D400

The square you are in has 4 churches (one being the first the church where the 1st cardinal was left in Angels and Demons) and these twin churches. The restaurant is just to the left of the twins.

We also walked by where Bernini lived

Then the Trevi fountain, which is the façade of a building much larger than you realize. The building was once a upon a time a palace, nowadays an office building.

ry%3D400

While we were there a couple of my new friends and I got gelato to eat on the way back to the bus. I loved the gelato!!!

Mo, I love your pictures and all the history that goes along with them. :goodvibes Now I want to go to Europe.

T, I hope you had a wonderful birthday. princess: I'm sorry but Norman is just funny. :rotfl:

V, for Leo.

Mitch and I had a nice time of doing not much which was exactly what he needed. His leaving was terrible, but I'm ok now. My family seems to be acting extra nice to me. :thumbsup2 The baby is still scheduled for Thursday.
