Team Focker Watch: Lucky Number 13!

Hi Fockers, as most of you know I am back from Italy.

It was a fantastic trip, exceeded all expectations. I am truly lucky!
:hug: I'm so glad! And I can't wait to hear all about it!

My day started well with a phone call saying I'd won £50 (about $75) :yay: We then played golf and Ellie got to play too which was good, I then sweet talked my way into a free round of golf at a different course next week (we have a competition there the following week and they wanted £25 to play (they normally charge over £100 :faint: ) and I got them to speak to the lady captain who said we could :thumbsup2) Then I had an email saying I'd won a set of solar garden lights and garden fairy lights whatever they may be :rotfl2: and they're worth £70 so good day :thumbsup2
Nice Jo! :thumbsup2

Hope the braces fitting goes well. :hug:

V says Leo started feeling better with all the helpful suggestions.
I hope he is still doing well.
Thanks, he is!
Doug did fine last weekend. I guess the anti-nausia stuff worked. He was hungry the whole time.
Excellent news! :thumbsup2

My parents and grandmother come tomorrow. We'll see just how tough my new medicine is. :rolleyes1
:rotfl::hug: Hang in there - and come vent to us as needed!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Morning! T-minus 5 days till the end of 2nd grade! :woohoo: They've ceased all forms of school work at this point; no homework, teacher's packing up the room and they're mostly watching movies. Why on earth did they bother extending the school year?! :confused3 Oh well; it's basically free day care.
Summer camp starts next Thurs. and Leo's looking forward to that. His camp is around the corner from our house and includes many hours a day of swimming in what's essentially a mini waterpark. :thumbsup2 Add in field trips a couple times a week, daily movies and the best camp counselors I've ever seen and hopes are high for a fun summer!
Me... I'm just slogging along. Waiting. For vacation. :surfweb:
You are one lucky person. I rarely win anything.
Good Morning Fockers!
TAZ wants me to get a scooter for Doug so they can race. They are replanting the yard with grass that grows grass instead of weeds.
I need to PM you on Enchanted about the scooters. Good luck with the new grass.
Doug did fine last weekend. I guess the anti-nausia stuff worked. He was hungry the whole time. I am thankful for that. His next treatment will be on the 22nd of this month. His mom will be taking him as it is a middle workday for me. I don’t get paid to be off. It’s excused due to FMLA but that’s it. I told him I can’t afford to take off all 3 days. He needs to pay attention to my schedule if he wants me to go with him.
I cleaned the house yesterday morning because, well, it needed it but also the pastor from his mom’s church wanted to come out to talk with Doug. He was supposed to arrive at 2PM. I thought that would be OK. I had some stuff to do but it could wait. He called at 2:15 and said it would be 3. Plus he needed directions. (It would have been easier for me to take Doug to him.) So I was a bad wife and bailed on him. I had too much to get done. I hate waiting around. I’m not good with this kind of stuff anyways. This pastor is a stranger to us since we don’t attend church and the church has had 3 different pastors in the last 10 years. Guess what? No, he did show up but they sat out front the whole time. Never even went in the house. LOL
I work tonight and half of tomorrow night. This weekend I we are going to Ohio to watch Rockie’s oldest graduate from high school. We are leaving early on Saturday and we’ll be back on Sunday afternoon. Looks like rain here for Saturday. I hope Ohio is dry.
Have a good one!!
I am hoping this grass thing works. If it doesn't I'm going to get free bricks from demolitions off of Craigslist. At least now I have a huge dirt lawn instead of weeds. I will let everyone know how it works out. I'll look for your PM.
Glad Doug did well with the treatments. Hope he starts checking your schedule to make his appointments.
Bailing on the pastor didn't make you a bad wife, especially if it isn't your thing. You were going to try and do it til he kept changing times.
Have fun at the graduation.
We have 11 days left here. Of course they have been doing 2 trips a week the last couple of weeks. My grandson is trying to convince his mom he can skip school after friday. She isn't letting him do it. I am summer camp for my grandkids. It's OK because we belong to a swim club so we just go and hang out there. The kids swim or go to the playground area. I sit in the shade and enjoy the outdoors. I don't get to swim much because 2 of the kids are terrified of the water. :rotfl2:
+++++++++++
Morning all. I have an easy day today. I am getting spoiled by this week. My granddaughter has to have some dental work done but will be knocked out for it. Her other grandmom used to put her to bed with chocolate milk and juice and my granddaughter has to pay the price. I take them there and within an hour I'm free for the day. I have t-ball tonight but they are calling for thunderstorms this afternoon. :woohoo: I really want this season over.
Have a good day.
Are there other kids Ells age at the club?
Only boys!!!
Doug did fine last weekend. I guess the anti-nausia stuff worked. He was hungry the whole time. I am thankful for that.
:thumbsup2
Guess what? No, he did show up but they sat out front the whole time. Never even went in the house. LOL
Figures :rotfl2: So what did he want?
Jo's figured out how to make money from home. :woohoo: We're just jealous. :rotfl:
:rotfl2: Enjoy your BBQ!
Hope the braces fitting goes well. :hug:
It did :thumbsup2
Sounds fantastic!
You are one lucky person. I rarely win anything.
It helps that I enter 100+ a day :rotfl2:
I can't believe it.............. I haven't won anything today :rotfl2: Well the cheque for £50 came so :thumbsup2
We started off at the Dr today with the weird brown patches on Ellie's knuckles, they didn't know what it was but are treating it as fungal for now and if it doesn't go will need to do blood tests which she is petrified about!
Then it was off to the ortho where she had her braces fitted, only the top ones for now and she's doing really well. No discomfort or anything :thumbsup2
We were then going to play a few holes until we realised Dave has all the golf shoes in his car so that put paid to that!
We have pasta and sauce tonight as it's soft :rotfl2:
Just popping in to say that my step mother has a heart that is black with sin. She claims to be a devout Christian and all, but she must go to the church of the holy b*tch!
That is all.......
I swear I posted this morning but it's not here:confused3
Angela - Keeping fingers crossed that your sister has the baby while Uncle Mooch is home:goodvibes BTW - Did you see the highway robbery in Detroit last night with the blown call on the perfect game:scared1:
V - Sounds like a great camp that Leo is going too. Oh, no on him being sick again:hug:
Jo - Glad all the doctors for the girls went well.
Slate - :hug: We are here if you want to talk.
Kristel - :hug: Glad Doug did well with the last out of treatment.
Taz - 12 if you count today:rolleyes1
Crazy busy at work, but I wanted to check in. Flyers won last night:cheer2:
BBL:hug:
Leo's been sent home sick. Again. :sad2: Could it be the same thing as last week? :confused3
Oh no, hope he gets better soon :hug:
Flyers won last night:cheer2:
BBL:hug:
Wooohoooo!
Did you all hear about the shooting here? It happened in a very very quiet part of the country and 12 are dead :sad2: It's the worst shooting since Dunblane which was many many years ago. Even the soaps (Coronation Street and Eastenders) have been rewritten and not shown as they had shootings in :eek: The guy did shoot himself so it's over but...... also I can never understand why kill innocent people if you're going to kill yourself anyway?
Hi Fockers here is the first installment of my Italian adventure:
My trip started on May 20th with an evening flight to Rome. I actually chose to work from home to help the pass the time that day. The car service picked my up around 2pm. There was quite a line to check in for my flight, but moved quickly. Off to security and then I settled in with my book (Lost Symbol by Dan Brown) and my iPod. Boarding started on time and I unfortunately found my self next a Pooh size woman. Now, I know the airlines make these seats too small, but I paid full price and am not sharing, especially when it’s an 8 hour flight. We were in the middle section of the plane and her husband was on the other side of her. They should have switched seats since he was not Pooh sized. Call me what you want but each time she moved into my space I quickly said excuse me. Sorry I’m not sharing.
On this flight they had the individual entertainment units. I watched Shutter Island, It’s Complicated and fell asleep watching Up in the Air. When I woke up the flight was nearly over and I just read my book for a bit.
Arriving in Rome you quickly learn the Italians do everything with an organized chaos.
When leaving the plane you walk down the stairs and board a waiting tram to take you to the terminal. It was a beautiful Rome morning (8 am local time). As soon as you walk in there is a mob of people that as it turns out I need to be a part of. It’s the Immigration line. After a surprisingly quick moving, very long line, I got my passport stamped. Yeah, they are letting me in. Woo Hoo:cool1:.
With that it’s off to find my suitcase. I find the carousel and wait, and wait some more and just for the heck of it wait some more:rolleyes1. Oh there it is. Yea, I’m off. I follow the signs for customs where you have nothing to declare. You know what, there is no customs, I walked through the door and am in the main part of the terminal. I see the sign for the Trafalgar check in (that was the tour group I was with) and waited a few minutes for the 9:30 shuttle into the city and my hotel.
This was very interesting. There were 17 different Trafalgar tours arriving that day and we followed this woman through the terminal to a fleet of busses where we were divided up according to tours. Again it was very chaotic but in an organized way.
On my bus there were 2 tour groups that the hotels were around the corner from each other. There were only 2 others on my tour on the 9:30 shuttle. Mother and daughter from Michigan. The rooms weren’t ready but Trafalgar had a room that we could safely store our luggage. By this time it was nearly 11 and I was hungry. I took off in the direction of the Coliseum and found a little pizza place where I got something more a flat bread and bottled water for about 5 Euros. I continued down to the Coliseum and just took it all in.
It was getting warm and this was a hilly section of Rome. After a few hours I headed back to the hotel hoping my room was ready. Yea it was. Now this was a very nice, recently renovated Hotel. The only complaint was it was too Western, I wanted a Hotel that felt like Europe. It was beautiful and clean but I felt like I could be in NYC, not Rome.
After snapping a few pics I settled in and took a much needed shower and a short nap.
At 4 pm there was a welcome drink and orientation meeting. I sat down and a few minutes later 2 coworkers from Edmonton (Camille and Stephanie) sat down with me and fast friends were made. Tonight was an opportunity for an optional night tour of Rome which I was looking forward to. Camille and Stephanie were opting not to.
I boarded the bus and a very nice woman from Ontario (Barb) sat down with me and we immediately were chatting away. On this tour we saw a lot in a short time which in included:
Pantheon
Drove by Mussolini’s headquarters and saw the balcony he spoke from (very unimpressive building)
And Piazza Navona (those that have read/saw Angels and Demons, this is where the Four Rivers statue is that the last cardinal was left at)
After the guide finished speaking about Piazza Navona, we were given time to get dinner.
We all wandered to a place off the Piazza. I was at a table with a couple that I had met on the Trafalgar message boards and a wonderful woman from Australia (Tracy). The food was great and then we went and got our first gelato!
What is amazing is that all of Rome is built on ruins and many of the current buildings are simply built around them. Also, there is a building code in Rome that no high rises are allowed in the city limits.
Some pics of the ruins around Rome
On the way back to the hotel they surprised us with driving by the Vatican and Castel San Angelo at night. WOW!
A very good first day!:thumbsup2
It's not, it's about 300 miles away but we're a pretty small country :sad2:
That's not that far away:sad1:
Hi Fockers here is the first installment of my Italian adventure:
Awesome Mo! Love it! I had an aunt named after the same queen;) Glad the flight was uneventful, except for the uncomfortable seating situation.
Re the hotel - I felt the same way about the hotel when I was in Sweden:confused3
Hey, you got the boat for a reason. Enjoy it. They’ll be plenty of BBQs this summer. I’m glad you didn’t get hosed for the doggie incident.
Thanks!
I work tonight and half of tomorrow night. This weekend I we are going to Ohio to watch Rockie’s oldest graduate from high school. We are leaving early on Saturday and we’ll be back on Sunday afternoon. Looks like rain here for Saturday. I hope Ohio is dry.
Have fun! I hope the weather pans out.
Mitch wanted to grill something, so they are coming for dinner and maybe swimming. My parents and grandmother come tomorrow. We'll see just how tough my new medicine is. :rolleyes1
Good luck. :thumbsup2 You know we're here if you need us. :hug:
Summer camp starts next Thurs. and Leo's looking forward to that. His camp is around the corner from our house and includes many hours a day of swimming in what's essentially a mini waterpark. :thumbsup2 Add in field trips a couple times a week, daily movies and the best camp counselors I've ever seen and hopes are high for a fun summer!
I hope so, too! :hug:
I have t-ball tonight but they are calling for thunderstorms this afternoon. :woohoo: I really want this season over.
Did you get rained out? I know it's bad, but I'm pleased that we have only 3 more games, myself.
Only boys!!!
Woot, Ellie! ;) :rotfl:
Then it was off to the ortho where she had her braces fitted, only the top ones for now and she's doing really well. No discomfort or anything :thumbsup2
Hooray!
Leo's been sent home sick. Again. :sad2: Could it be the same thing as last week? :confused3
I'm sorry, hon. :hug:
That is all.......
We're here, S'late. :hug:
The guy did shoot himself so it's over but...... also I can never understand why kill innocent people if you're going to kill yourself anyway?
I know, right? :hug: I'm sorry, hon.
A very good first day!:thumbsup2
Very nice! Love the photos. :goodvibes I know just what you mean about the hotel.
The first time I was in Paris, we were in the business district in a basic sleek modern hotel room. Beautiful room - didn't love it for Paris. When D & I went 2 years ago, it was a little better, atmosphere-wise, but as much as I cracked up, the funny/bizarre hotels we had in London & Switzerland back in '96 felt MUCH more like being away, you know?
The one in Nice in 2008 felt fine and was awesome, even though it was modern - I think it was just the beach/glamour setting vs. Paris's age or something.
Still, the best hotel I have ever, ever been at was this one on Lanai in HI. Sigh.
Sorry, I'm ready to get away... D's apparently heading to HI in two weeks, but just for 5 days, so I don't see a way to get there with him. We're still planning an anniversary trip in November, but that feels far away right now. I'd like to go to HI in 2 weeks. :rolleyes:
Yes indeedy - that's exactly how I would describe my life! :rotfl:
I took off in the direction of the Coliseum and found a little pizza place where I got something more a flat bread and bottled water for about 5 Euros.
:eek: Is the Euro still around $1.50? That's some pricey pizza!
And Piazza Navona (those that have read/saw Angels and Demons, this is where the Four Rivers statue is that the last cardinal was left at)
::yes::
A very good first day!:thumbsup2
It looks amazing! Loving all the pics Mo; I really, really want to get to Italy some day!
I hear ya CE! :hug:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Morning! Gah - Leo's still home sick. His fever went down last night, but is back this morning. Ibuprofen's working, though, and he's drinking plenty, so here's hoping for a speedy recovery...

That's about it for me. Happy Friday all!

Good morning all. The start of a busy weekend for us. Today Jimmy's before/after school care place is closed for inservice today, which I means I cam to work late (only by about 10 minuts) and I have to leave early to be at school to pick him up by 3:09. I am also picking up his friend Tyler and bringing him home with us. We are going have make your own pizzas for dinner and the kids will just play until him mom or dad come to pick him up.

Tomorrow is baseball, a birthday party and then scout campout. On top of all of that a friends FIL passed away Thursday and the services are tomorrow. I am torn about going. She is my friend, but not really him. And I don't like her in-laws (never did) and she can't stand them. I don't know what to do. If I do go I will skip baseball, go to the visitation, but not stay for the service so that I can take Jimmy to the birthday party. It is at a pool and Jim and I are going to be extra lifeguards, so I have to be at that. Ugh! Myabe I will just send a mass card:confused3

After the birthday party Jim and Jimmy will go to the campout and then I don't know what a I am going to do. Movie, mall??? Ideas?

THAt's it from here. TGIF! BBL:hug:

Paris is one place I will never go to. Jim has serious issues with the French. He won't even go to the France area in EPCOT. London and Hawaii are dream trips along with Italy and Germany. I will get Hawaii in about 7 years.

Morning! Gah - Leo's still home sick. His fever went down last night, but is back this morning. Ibuprofen's working, though, and he's drinking plenty, so here's hoping for a speedy recovery...

That's busy all right. Skip the funeral thing and send a mass card. I'm sure your friend will understand, especially if she didn't really like the in-laws either. I choose going to the movie. I am hoping to find the time to do that myself this weekend.

Morning. Quiet day here. I have all 3 kids today. My drandson has a rash so we kept him home from pre-school as a precaution. I think it's a heat rash but Fifths Disease is going around. My granddaughter is doing great after yesterday but is in a little pain. We kept her home so she can have 24 hours healing time.

T-ball was OK last night but thankfully tomorrow is my last game. I really try with the kids but no matter what I do the one clique of parents has something to say. They will be mad again tomorrow because the pics and trophies aren't going to be in tomorrow. That is one of those things I have no control over. I was debating giving the kids a party when they do come in but decided against it.

Not much else going on here. The Phillies and Flyers both play tonight. I am glad I won't have to face that traffic. Hopefully they both win tonight.
GO FLYERS :cheer2:

Hi Fockers here is the first installment of my Italian adventure:
Sounds great Mo, I went to Rome as a kid but need to go back. Oh and for some reason I thought you were doing an ABD trip :confused3

That's not that far away:sad1:
It is in England, remember we don't travel like you do :rotfl2: It would take about 5/6 hours to get there!

Woot, Ellie! ;) :rotfl:

Where's HI (Hawaii??) and as Janet said where are you planning on going in November?

Morning! Gah - Leo's still home sick. His fever went down last night, but is back this morning. Ibuprofen's working, though, and he's drinking plenty, so here's hoping for a speedy recovery...
Glad he's getting better and has he finished school now?

I have to leave early to be at school to pick him up by 3:09.
3.09? :rotfl2: And I wouldn't go to the funeral if you didn't know him and your friend didn't like them anyway!

Is he British? :rotfl2:

Ellie and I went shopping this morning, she got about $150 for her birthday and errrrr we spent about $11 :rotfl2: We're such good shoppers :rotfl2: She did however get a new vest top, set of bracelets, flip flops and socks for that :thumbsup2 Then when we got home I had another prize :yay: It was a Rimmel goodie bag (do you have that brand of cosmetics?) containing a mascara, eyeshadow (bright blue so given to Ells), nail varnish and lip gloss :thumbsup2

This afternoon all 4 of us then went to golf and it was good fun :thumbsup2

300 miles would be about a 5 hour drive here too but we do travel like that here.

My husband is German and English. His father's parents were from England. He does hate the French though for a lot of reasons. :lmao:

That sounds like good shopping to me. We do have Rimmel over here. I get coupons for them all the time. You really are lucky but I guess entering as many contests as you do the odds are with you.

+++++++++++

Afternoon all. I was looking forward to a nice quiet weekend and just found out that my grandson had a baseball game tomorrow and sunday. Guess my movie is out and the ball fields are in. :lmao: I'm not sure my son will even go to the games because he's mad at his son for skipping practice today. It's 90 degrees and his school has no air conditioning. He went swimming and I told him it was OK. Of course my son is mad at me too. I don't care.
I don't have to cook tonight. Jim has decided he wants to order pizza for the game tonight. Sounds good to me.

HAve a good night.

Poor kiddo. Hope it's all gone soon! Hope your day was good!

Where are going in November?

I'm not sure - likely the Caribbean somewhere. We would have liked to do something in Europe - we've wanted Ireland for ages, I'd like to do London again, he loves Spain and Italy - but by having to go in November, the weather would be iffy. I know it's not that bad, but for a romantic trip... :confused3

He's looking at St. Thomas. Hawaii would be nice, too, but it's such a flight. We should be able to do a hotel anywhere on his points, and may be able to convert hotel points to some sort of flight/upgrade, too. :thumbsup2

Good morning all. The start of a busy weekend for us.

I'd say. I'm also with the "skip the visitation" crowd - she'll understand and a nice card is as good as walking through and talking to her in a receiving line for 2 seconds.

T-ball was OK last night but thankfully tomorrow is my last game. I really try with the kids but no matter what I do the one clique of parents has something to say. Yes, and see above to Janet. ;)

Nice!

We've had a nice day. Mom & I walked this morning, then prettied up and ended up going to the going-away party at crazy lady's house. It was actually fine, and I'm glad I went. I was not the only "on the fence" person there, so I also don't feel like I betrayed people by going, and I really love the lady that's moving away, so... Plus, there was wine! :rotfl:

Dad & D have been working on more walls - we're getting there. They did the big problematic piece of drywall with lots of cutouts, and also the backerboard pieces for the rest of the tub/shower (including the tough ones that need holes for the faucet, shower head, etc.) :thumbsup2

It's my parents' 43rd wedding anniversary :lovestruc, so we are all going out to eat once the men clean up. Yum! Sounds like showering is being discussed, so that should be soon.

Tomorrow is baseball at 11:30 if it's not rained out, and then I don't know what. It will be fine, no matter what!

Wow! Your season is over early. We have 3 mores weeks after this. The last week is a game against the parents:lmao:

It is in England, remember we don't travel like you do :rotfl2: It would take about 5/6 hours to get there!

About the same here. That's about our drive to Virginia in August!:thumbsup2

:rotfl2:

Ridiculous isn't it. Their starting time is 8:29:confused3

Good bargains Ellie!:thumbsup2

I'm not sure - likely the Caribbean somewhere. We would have liked to do something in Europe - we've wanted Ireland for ages, I'd like to do London again, he loves Spain and Italy - but by having to go in November, the weather would be iffy. I know it's not that bad, but for a romantic trip... :confused3

Jim is dying to go to Ireland.

He's looking at St. Thomas. Hawaii would be nice, too, but it's such a flight. We should be able to do a hotel anywhere on his points, and may be able to convert hotel points to some sort of flight/upgrade, too. :thumbsup2

Sounds great! Will your parents come out and watch the boys?

Evening all. Would have checked in earlier but Jimmy ijacked the computer to play some games. He just went to bed about a 1/2 hour ago. We were watching the hockey game and get giving him more time:guilty: Hope we don't pay for it tomorrow :sacred:

Flyers are playing great and as of right now re up 3-1:cheer2::cheer2:

I took your advice and am not going to the cisitation tomorrow. I sent a nice arrangement from edible arrangements, t be delivered on Sunday. Good?

I hope they aren't offended bu tomorrow is just so crazy and we can't do everything.

Off to watch the end of the hockey game.

Later:upsidedow

Me, too. D's been a couple of times as a kid and then for work, but I've not been.

Sounds great! Will your parents come out and watch the boys?

Think so - and D's mom may take some turn/time, too. They get along, so it's fine if they both come.

I;m sure the lady leaving was glad you went:goodvibes

I think so. :goodvibes

How is your dad feeling?

Pretty good, I think. He looks much better and is doing his normal stuff. :thumbsup2

Sounds nice to me!

Dinner was very good and we've all just been vegging. Friday night TV is not great, but for whatever reason, my dad loves the Food Network, so... That's what we've watched. My parents both just headed off for bed. :rolleyes1 :eek: :rotfl2:
