I am Jo and a complete Disney Freak.

Love it!

No, no - I always look forward to a cold snap during our holidays trips, so I'm good! Though I could defnitely do without rain. It's just so funny - EVERY year, it's cold when I'm at WDW in Dec. EVERY year! Ask LL and s'late. ;)

Ahh, I get it. ;)

omg ce. that's is so horrible. i'm thinking of you and your family!!

Thanks.

Off to yoga. We got D booked on a flight tomorrow morning to Sunday afternoon. Probably he won't be there for any services, but he can hang with the other aunts and cousins.

Straight from yoga to parent-teacher conferences. I may be back later.

:grouphug:

CE- WOW! So sorry for your family!

Mel- How is your eye feeling otherwise?? Any word from the dr's?

Lessa - I am lucky to make it to Dec 1st for the decorations to come out!

How is everyone else doing????

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So anyone interested in that NYC meet we talked about around Christmas time???? I'm flexible for what day.....I miss my focker friends!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I threw some frozen chicken in the crock w some lentils and seasonings and am hoping it comes out ok. I am not in the mood to care about dinner much so the crock works for today. I feel better but not great- funny how off the meds I'm better!

One of these days ill catch up with everyone else's reports...sorry for the laziness.

Anyone into pumpkin stuff? I made a pumpkin bread yeste4rday that KC calls "Kat's Famous" - it's yummy!

Good late afternoon! :goodvibes

Crazy day here. I scanned...and CE, I am so sorry. "Good guy vs bad guy" doesn't matter much when your heart is aching. Hurt is hurt. I am sorry for your loss.

Jen, I'm glad Jon is feeling better. Now it's time for you to feel better.

Mel, I need a recipe for hermit cookies...got anything for me?

I am Jo and a complete Disney Freak. My dh is a Golf Pro, but don’t ask him about golfing with the infamous Waldo. He’ll break out in a sweat. Speaking of sweating, my dh and I sweat a lot when we are sneezing and trampolining.

Aside from Disney, I am happiest when I am winning at golf. After a win I always yell, “Don’t mess with this Dixie Brit!” Then I chug down a nice cold fizzy.

I come complete with an entourage of approximately 40 people. My entourage is a necessity as they all have a specific job, ie; hair, makeup, and teaching me important things like how to tie a cherry stem with my tongue.

I have two lovely daughters. Thankfully they love Disney as much as I do or I’d have to tell them toodle pip.
OMG Mary :rotfl2:

I baked two batches of chocolate chip cookies. One with regular semi-sweet chips and one batch with Carob and peanut butter chips for Gus (he can't have dairy in reg. chips). It smells so wonderful in the house.
Wow Mel you are so good, do you bake most days? I just finished making flapjacks, really easy recipe just use equal amounts of butter and soft brown sugar melted, add oats (1.5 times the amount of butter you used) stir then bake till golden :goodvibes So for eg 1 cup sugar, 1 cup butter, 1.5 cups oats :thumbsup2

wow, doesn't it get pretty cold??? good luck with the online shopping.
It dosn't get too cold here, anyway us Brits are tough :rotfl2:

Get better Kat

Just spoke to my sister and she said I can borrow any of her summer clothes I want :yay:

I like it! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I needed a jolt of levity in an otherwise busy work afternoon. BTW, DD11 is feeling much better. Looks like she'll be heading back to school tomorrow.

Wow, you guys have been chatty today! Guess the cold is keeping everyone inside, huh? It's really cold and rainy here today too. This has to be my least favorite weather pattern. I can handle snow much better than this. It's just so cold that the rain just chills your bones, kwim?

Anyway, DD7 had a half day at school today so we stopped at Chick-Fila for lunch before hitting up the music store to get new piano method books, since she's graduated another level. :thumbsup2 Then, we picked DD4 up from preschool and stopped at the library for books and movies.

I had a chiro appointment this afternoon and we stopped at Dairy Queen afterwards. If you've been reading ZZUB's trip report, he's been talking about the pumpkin pie blizzard at Dairy Queen and I just had to have one. It was really good. :cloud9:

Got a text from Tracy (MrsKSomeday) today. She's at WDW for Super Soap Weekend. I'm so jealous of all of you planning trips. I have no idea when we'll be going again.

Let's see.....

CE -     Wow...I don't know what to say. Just sending prayers for you and D and his family.

Janet - I want some new furniture too. Of course, that's not happening anytime soon. :sad2: Glad that things with Jimmy seem to be going well.

Mel - I agree with what Angela said. SD is a great kid with great parents. I'm sure his friend realizes this and wants to be around such supportive people. It's true that he may come to you before his own parents with any problems. And from what you've said, that's a good thing. Also, stay away from the rake! Or we'll go Momma on you!

Rachel and Jen - hope you feel better soon!  And Jon too!

V - I'll take 65 over 39 and rainy anytime! Sorry, no sympathy here!;)

Jo & Lessa - with regard to Christmas decorations, I always try to get mine up the weekend after Thanksgiving and take them down on New Year's Day. That's always when my mom did it. Of course, I've got to get my DH to help me too. And he's never thrilled with the prospect.

Mary - that bio of Jo is perfect for the Mom's Panel! I loved it! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Kristel - sorry, unless you fit in my carryon, you can't come to CA with us! And the kids aren't coming either!

 to everyone I've missed.

This funny Mel,,,I was just washing the dishes. (no dishwasher) and thought to myself "I wonder what Mel is baking all the way in Michegan!" :goodvibes

Ha! Yeah, I'm not well....I need to stop BAKING!!!

Good late afternoon! :goodvibes
Mel, I need a recipe for hermit cookies...got anything for me?

I don't think so, but I'll check. I'll ask my sis too. She bakes even more than me!

That sounds Delish! I don't usually bake everyday. Just since the surgery I've been baking more. I usually make something at least once a week though and I cook dinner almost every night. It's something I love to do, so I don't mind too much. Not to mention that since I'm not working all day outside the home, it's not as stressful putting a meal on the table. I really admire working moms!!!

Just spoke to my sister and she said I can borrow any of her summer clothes I want :yay:

Yay JO! That's awesome! I hope you have fun shopping in Em's closet!

MEL

 Popping in.

I'm feeling halfway human after chugging down a 1/2 bottle of pepto. Is that bad???

Jon is feeling better.

I am home from work...and my two clients that I was supposed to have at my other job BOTH cancelled. :faint:

I had a meeting this afternoon and the lady I sat next to smelled like cat pee and dirt. Took everything I had not to pass out.

Have a good evening all. Heading home now! May or may not check in later. If not, I will see you all tomorrow!

Hermit Cookies (Found at Southern Cooking (dot) com)

Old-Fashioned Hermit Cookie Recipe with raisins, spices, and walnuts.
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour, sift before measuring
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 cups raisins, chopped
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Cream shortening; add sugar and eggs one at a time; beat until light. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg; add to creamed mixture. Fold in raisins and nuts; mix well. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for about 10 minutes.
Makes about 4 dozen Hermit cookies.

As I sit here waiting to go to dinner, I'm hungry! Must try the pumpkin pie Blizzard. :thumbsup2

I had a meeting this afternoon and the lady I sat next to smelled like cat pee and dirt.

For some reason this made me laugh. ;) Not the fact that you had to sit next to her though. Feel better.

Still never heard of Hermit Cookies although they look good.

Wait...Kate...what are hermit cookies???

It's traditionally a New England cookie...whatever that means. Think soft and chewy gingerbread "ramped up" with raisins and pecans...in bar form.

See, my 12 year old has a black hole in his belly. I threatened to name it yesterday. Every single time I see him he's either asking me for food, or just shoving it in his mouth. He just turned 12 last month. And he's two hairs shy of six feet. Keeping his belly full is becoming a challenge. And expensive. So I need to start supplying him with healthy snacks that won't empty my wallet. We did, after all, just get a tasty code for April. ;)

Fockers, I have great news! Due to the economy, wine prices are falling so that can only mean one thing: MORE DRUNKEN SPANISH! :dance3:
