EnglishRose, what an erudite discussion we are having today.:thumbsup2 You are right of course but so am I. Nunneries were different for the rich as is everything else. I wish to hie myself some days too. :rotfl2: Norah Lofts?? I am impressed. I read all her stuff when I was young and that is what got me through my childhood.

I had best get back to work before I get fired from my 'job' or my husband get me up on trumped up charges of fooling around with my brother or something. :rotfl:

SG/Linda (who bets you know more about American History than I, maybe)
Nora Lofts younger sister was a close friend of Mum's. She remembers playingin the Abbey gardens with Nora and all the wild imaginative games she came up with even as a child ! I remember growing up seeing her in Bury and she always stopped and talked to us!!Alot of her books are about Bury so it was such a treat reading them and knowing that itm was really my hometown!!

:goodvibes I am heading out with my girls to see Prince Caspian....hope it is as good as everyone says!

Everyone have a good afternoon!!!!

Ok, so it was a wild night. I didn't break any chairs (LY CE! :love: )

Yeah, yeah... Sounds like a fun night, though! :goodvibes

Dad looked fine when I brought Bill back. He was glad to be home and will be in bed soon, I bet.

Hooray! :hug:

CE... (AND ANY BODY ELSE).. TRY NOT TO TALK ALL NIGHT AGAIN !!

I did good. ;)

Oh well...........off to freeze my butt off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I never come back you know that we blew up the neighbourhood!

Hope you had fun and your tuckus is still intact. :goodvibes

Is it hard to find an apt? I'm reading a book by Meg Cabot "Queen of Babble" and she is a girl from Michigan who moves to NYC and tries to find an apt, get a job, etc. She has to pay a broker to find her a place to live (just to rent).

Have you read the "Size 12" and "Size 14" by her? I recommend them. :thumbsup2

My stepsisters in law are related to Meg Cabot on their mom's side (not the side from which they are now connected to D.)

BTW--my 18th anniversary is tomorrow!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!!!!!!! :hug:

Hi, Amy! Missed you!

Well what a bad morning we had! At about 10:15am (we went to bed after 3) KC 's phone rings (darn him for not putting it on vibrate) and it's his office. Apparently the girl who he has been covering Mondays for decided today was the day to switch back, and didn't let anyone know!!!! It's her fault and his boss was great about it, told him to just come in at noon and work a few hours thursday to make up for it. I am mad at stupid girl for waking me up and making poor tired groggy KC get on the train and go to work!

Ugh.

I'm still sick.

Feel better soon. :goodvibes

Just a quick Hi :wave2: I've been out shopping all day (bought nothing :mad: ) then baked Ellies birthday cake now we're off to watch her talent show final at school, I'll catch up later :goodvibes

Hi!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have NO time - we're all trying to get showered and such for the grad dinner, but I had to share:
I'm going to Nice & Paris!!!!!!!!
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
I'm a little nervous as we felt that we HAD to ask D's dad & stepmom if they'd come, since we'd asked the other moms and my mom couldn't and D's mom only could be here for 5 days.
They said sure, we'll come the whole time! :eek: It's great, and I'm very, very grateful, but they've never babysat for the boys for an hour. 8 days will be interesting... :rolleyes1
BUT, I don't care because I'm selfish and I get to go to France. In less than two weeks! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
Hi AMY!! :wave2: Missed you! How are the kiddos?
Just a quick Hi :wave2: I've been out shopping all day (bought nothing :mad: ) then baked Ellies birthday cake now we're off to watch her talent show final at school, I'll catch up later :goodvibes
That is great news CE! You know you will have to take lot of pictures to share with us when you get back. ;)
Thanks! I will, of course. ;)
I thought Jo said over the weekend that Ellie's b-day is tomorrow - not that it should negate the good wishes, but did she bake the cake today just to be done? Or am I wrong? :confused3
I'm going to Nice & Paris!!!!!!!!
I knew you'd be excited for me! :goodvibes
I went to Paris for 2 days in 1998, so you're more knowledgable than I am, I'm sure. :thumbsup2
I have a feeling I'll be PMing you within the next few days. :hug:
AWESOME CE!!!! I am so jealous!!!!
I already have done more today than I wanted to. Went to the post office, mailed 3 paper back swap books (yay for 3 new books for me soon), got a bagel and coffee, bought the fixin's for my crock pot chicken, copied some borrowrd DVDs and now I wanna nap!
Turns out the girl who messed up the schedule this morning just needed coverage for today and KC will be remaining on the 3-12 shift on mondays from home.
What a day! What's everyone else up 2???
We'll be there the week of the 19th or something in June. We've got a cabin...and I've bought a floating beer cozy...;)
Yeah, don't forget the beer floatie! :lmao: Who all will be down here? I'll have to PM you my e-mail in case you have questions. I try not to give too much personal info out here.
I'm going to Nice & Paris!!!!!!!!
I think it is tomorrow. B's is Wednesday and my mom's is today, so I remember thinking, "I don't know anyone who's Bday is Tuesday!" We have my twin nephews' bday, my mom's bday, the dog's bday, B's bday, my FIL's bday, and a cousin's Bday all from the 17th through the 22nd! :scared1:
I'm mucho poor right now!!! :sad2:
CE- you lucky, lucky girl! :yay: time to shop, time to pack, time to jump up and down!:cheer2:
i've never been to nice. i've heard it's awesome. omg! lucky, lucky yippee!:cheer2: :cheer2:
CE ~ I'm so glad that everything worked out and you are able to go! That is so fantastic:cloud9: Make sure to take lots and lots of pictures...we'll all be waiting to see.
Thanks for all the anniversary wishes!!!!
....and yes, Katt and Linda, it is 18 years of marriage! I think about this time........hmm........my wedding and both kids births were after lunch so the times get confusing! I should get my video moved to DVD so the kids could see that I really was smaller!
No plans for tonite--I told him I wanted to wait and go out over the weekend when we weren't running every direction!
CE---WOW! r u serious???
It is hard to find an apartment in our price range. I seriously do not understand how people can afford $2000 for a one bedroom apt! We are willing to go no higher than $1100. That apartment was $1000. We need to do more leg work now, we are going to go around the neighborhod and look for rent signs on KCs days off.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Any plans???
Thanks!
I hope u find something u like soon!
My mind is all boggled from all the posts and if I scroll back and forth I get dizzy so please pardon this style of replying. After all what can you expect from someone with my name?:rotfl:
Englishrose, I sincerely hate to disagree with someone, on this subject and with your name, however - Catherine of Aragon was his first wife who had been married to his brother and was later decreed (after he got tired of her) to be an illegal wife and she was hidden away in a cell until she died, refusing to give him his freedom in defense of their daughter, Mary. I believe you are referring to Catherine Parr who was forced to marry Henry even though she was in love in with someone else and who survived him by being his nurse in his later years. Anne of Cleves, who also survived, went willingly into a convent, luxurious of her own choice, after Henry was displeased because the picture by Holbein (?) was not as a good a likeness as Henry was expecting and he was under great pressure to remarry and produce a male heir.
TEminnie, I have some slightly used solar film that you can have. Come on by. I put plantation blinds up on all my windows, light, energy savings and privacy at a reasonable price. Happy 18th! I am assuming it is a wedding anniversary but nowadays doing anything for 18 years is cause for celebration!! :cheer2:
:rotfl2: That's true!
Ok, my learned friends---why is one Catherine with a C and 2 others with a K? (Katherine):confused3
Yes I know about Katherine and being married to his brother, but he didn't behead her or Anne , because they were foreign Royalty and would have caused a war!!! Jane the mother of his only son conveniently died from child birth, hence conveniently giving him no reason to behead her:rotfl2: All 3 of his children took the throne only Elizabeth ruled for any length of time and she sure ruled a long time.She was the most like him, but never had any husbands let alone 6:rotfl2: While of course I studied this in school most of my knowledge comes from Nora Lofts books, who incidently was from my home town and grew up with my Mum!!Anne of Cleves did have a cottage that she lived in I have forgotten exactly where it is but she wasn't in a convent the rest of her life! I want to say the cottage is in Kensington but could be wrong!!Katherine was adevout Catholic and divorce was against the church , as she was a daughter of Spain ,the Pope refused to give Henry hos divorce so he could marry Ann Boleyn, so Henry divorce dthe church and set himself up as the Head of the Church IN England. Hence he was able to grant his own divorce!!
I'll have to get some Nora Lofts books to try!:thumbsup2
janet--I saw this and thought of you:
Anyone in the Philly area should definitely cash in on this. Save $50 filling up your tank...
Skinny Nutritional Corp. will be holding a launch event at Lukoil on Delaware Avenue and Spring Garden this Tuesday, May 20th. Cars are sure to be lined up for blocks as the company will give away free (zero dollar) tanks of gas and free bottles of Skinny Water to all drivers on May 20th. Drivers can refuel their cars, slim down their bodies, and meet local Skinny Water spokesperson Pat Croce, the Skinny girls, and the zero's, Skinny Water's newly created mascots for the brand.
