Tea Cups ride - does it make you feel sick?

Hi all

I've read in a few trip reports about the sick/dizziness inducing nature of the tea cups ride. I thought this was a nice gentle kiddies ride and my DD (5) is keen to try it asap. Does it really spin, or is this just if you spin it fast on purpose? Don't want her to be put off!

Thanks

I can just about tolerate it (once) if there's no queue and I can go in a teacup on my own. My DD6 and husband spin it like mad - there's no way I'd get in a teacup with them!

BTW I'll do any ride that goes up, down, fast, upside down etc ... I just don't do spinning!

My lot enjoy it. Trying to spin it so fast that dad (me ;) ) pretends to be sick.
I've never had a problem but know of others who don't cope well with the spinning of this ride and Cars in the Studios :)

The teacups don't spin fast if you don't spin them - they are a kiddies ride then. My DD likes them spinning fast, and then I have to try and not look round me, as that does make me feel a bit queasy.

The Cars ride spins all on its own, but its built on a very similar track to the teacups. I love the Cars ride!!!

I'm normally ok as long as I dont spin them too much.

ALthough the older I get the less I can tolerate spinning!!

As long as you don't spin them too fast yourself, you shd be ok?? Both my kids loved the ride (ages 5.5 & 2.5) and they were ok even when we went a couple of years ago.

I think it depends if you get car sick as I think it offers a similar thing in that your horizon is changing all the time and that can make you feel queasy. Rollercoasters I seem OK with but the combination of movement on the teacups leaves me feeling off.

I feel sick on most rides but thats only because i suffer from motion sickness.

DH is another one with motion sickness and won't go on spinning rides. DD and I went on the teacups, and I reckon even WITH extra spinning it's slower than the equivalent ride at Legoland.

torsie24 we're also both convinced that tolerance for spinning decreases with age, DD can walk off a playground roundabout in a straight line, I certainly can't!

I can do most of the big thrill rides(TOT, BTM, Crush etc) but I just cannot handle the teacups. I even feel sick watching them!!

I think it's a definite fact!!

In my early teens I could have stayed on any ride all day long and LOVED it!!

Now I still really enjoy fast rides, and up and down ones, but if it corkscrews or spins too much it just makes me feel nauseous! Woe is me!

Sounds like DD will be fine then, but maybe I should limit my breakfast intake... Thanks

I'm ashamed to admit I have come off the Teacups behaving like a sulky 3 year old because my DS kept spinning us fast when I asked him not to.

Same here. I can go on any rollercoaster & feel fine but if I go on the Teacups I feel roguh for the rest of the day.
