Taylor Swift just made me cry

Part of my problem is that I think Taylor Swift is too Pop to win this award. I'm a bit of a purist and I think that she's more Pop than Country.

.

But I don't really think she deserved to win country music entertainer of the year. I think she is more pop than country. And to win an entertainer of the year in any music category, I think that type of music should be what you sell/perform/produce the most of. I just think Taylor is more pop than country.

I could'nt agree more, why would taylor swift win a country music award? I miss pure country. I would much rather listen to Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, George Jones, and Tammy Wynette. Now thats country. She is a pop singer, and i dont think she deserved the country music entertainer of the year award. Yes shes cute and talented, but shes a pop singer.

Country music has changed since the days of Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash. Dixie chicks, Shania, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, none of them sound "twangy" anymore. You'll have to listen to Country Gold Saturday Night to hear that old stuff.

Both Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood write their own songs, they are both also very talented singers. Taylor just does not compare to Carrie for me, Carrie is much more than Taylor is. I also love Kellie Pickler's music, but I don't think she write it herself. :)

Carrie's nice and she has a lovely voice, but sneaking a songwriting credit here and there is not really the same as what Taylor does. Is Miranda all that much of a big deal in the states? I remember her placing in one of those competition shows a while back, she had one song and then not much else :confused3. Sort of a non issue for me :confused3

I guess what bothers me about Taylor Swift is that she is so young and yet she is full of "come hither" looks, heavy make-up, very short skirts and very high heels.

I agree that she seems to have a sweet personality and she was very funny on SNL. But the image she (or her handlers) are going for is a sexualized innocence... the Lolita of country music.

I would appreciate her talents more if she would tone down the "I'm so cute and sweet and sexxxxy" thing.

I didn't get that vibe at all. I think people are really reaching

I agree with you 100%, but when it was happening, i thought "someone is gonna end up trying to create a stink about this" namely the press.

She will be 20 next month.

I recognize that, but it doesn't change one bit of what I said, though. Twenty is still young and her image is still a sexualized innocence.

Although, I'll grant you... I suppose it's better than if she was 15.

I think you are taking a lot away from Miranda, she not my fave but she must be fairly good or she wouldn't have been nominated for vocalist of the year.

Dunno--George Strait was, is, and always will be straight-up country.

I just don't see her this way at all. Could you point me to any photos of her in very short skirts?

Make up, yeah. High heels, yeah but very short skirts and a 'come hither' look? Nope, I don't see it.

You compare her to Brittney or even Miley and she dresses much more conservative.

But she writes good songs and as Kris Kristopherson (sp?) showed you don't have to be a great singer to do be a good singing song writer.

I have loved Kris Kristofferson for probably 35 years. I think he is a great singer. I love his voice. Gravelly and unusual, he has his own sound. I got to see him in concert once, he was awesome. And I loved his music in "A Star Is Born" with Barbra Streisand. Not country music, but he still sounded great IMO. And he made several albums with his former wife, Rita Coolidge, and they sounded great together.

I agree. That characterization confused me. My daughter is a huge TS fan and we went to a concert in September. I thought TS behaved like a lady the entire time. We saw Miley in October. There was nothing lady-like about Miley.

Here is what I consider a "come hither" look...

Another one...

And another...

Here are a couple pics of short skirts. I think she's got great legs! But combined with very high heels it is a sexy look...

To me, this is a sexualized innocence look. It's "I'm so sweet and wholesome... (in a whisper) or not.".

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't see what you see. She's almost 20 for goodness sake. Those are nothing compared to Brittney and Miley.

I do think the first photo is a bit come hither, especially since she does look young in it but that's about it.

She seems to have that sweet and innocent and sexy look down doesn't she? I'm surprised by a few of those pictures. Not that I see anything wrong with them, I just don't see Taylor Swift in that way.

As for Miranda Lambert, I LOVE her! She's more my style and I think that she'd doing quite well.

I would agree! My only point is that he could sound off at times but in his case it never mattered. He had a presence and emotion there that most singers don't have.

There are some others like that to me. Johnny Cash comes to mind too.
