Taylor Swift just made me cry

Carrie did win Entertainer of the Year it was with the ACM. I guess I can't keep all the award shows straight

LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - Carrie Underwood was named entertainer of the year on Sunday at the 44th Academy of Country Music awards, securing her status as country's hottest star on a night that felt like a changing of the guards.

Same initials......... different placement! LOL

I'm happy for Taylor Swift... she does seem like a real sweetheart. But there's something about her that I just can't stomach. I don't know what it is but she brings out this visceral negative reaction in me.

I'm glad she had a nice, uninterrupted moment, though.

Well, *I* was really disappointed that she won. This is just MY opinion! She cannot sing without "help"......she may be bringing money to her record label, but there is nowhere near the level of talent that the others have. Guess money CAN buy anything!

She is cute. She is popular. She can fling her head around unendingly. She has not yet done a "Britney" or "Miley."

But she cannot sing.

I guess its just popular to dis young ladies. "There all Britney's or Miley's apparently".

I like Taylor Swift's voice and I love the songs she writes. I think its refreshing to see such a talented young lady. There is certainly no need to arbitrarily discount all of her talents and lump her in with the tabloid fodder.

Can't say I've ever seen her fling her head around "unendingly" :confused3

Well I think its great that we can voice our differing opinions.:thumbsup2

I am not disrespecting all young ladies. I think that she presents herself carefully (mindfull of all the young girls who look up to her). I like Carrie, Kelli, Miranda.

I just don't think she is the TOTAL package. If she had a good voice and could sing live THEN she would be the total package!!!

When is the last time you saw an Entertainer of the Year share the stage with her band and crew, and they were all hugging her like that?

Watched a documentary on her getting ready for her Fearless tour.

She seems to be a brilliant business woman at the tender age of 19.

Not only does she write her own songs, but she designed the stage, the artwork on the buses and pretty much made every single business decision for the tour. And she sold out the Staples Center in 2 minutes.

She is definitely not a young starlet being "handled." She very much does all the handling :goodvibes

And she seems to be a tough boss, but also very kind, fair and classy boss. Her people all seem to love her. She knows what she wants, but she goes about it with respect for the people who work for her.

So, she misses a few notes here and there. She is a complete, genuine package, more than just some cute, hair tossing, spoiled starlet.

I am not a huge fan, but I am very, very impressed with the business sense coupled with the mature, respectful way she goes about being a boss, in such a young person. She very well could be a spoiled diva, but she is the exact opposite. I hope that doesn't change.

I agree with your two comments. Brad and Carrie did do a great job.

Not bashing Taylor cause she is a talented young lady, but she isn't in the same league as all the others that were nominated. IMO she should not have beaten Carrie with the favorite female artist either. :confused3 Carrie's voice is much stronger and better. Another thing in Taylor's favor though too is her lifestyle. She isn't trampy like others and obviously isn't full of herself.

It was awesome to see her win! :goodvibes

She was so surprised and humble She is such a talented and sweet girl. Unlike some other young girls. She's got a good head on her soulders. :thumbsup2

Her album has done AMAZINGLY weill!

Now, IMHO, she's not the greatest singer in the world but she CAN sing. She doesn't use or need help when she sings. She doesn't lip sync either.

She's an amazing song writer and guitarist.

Entertainer of the year doesn't necessarily mean best singer of the year.

Look at Barry Manilow. He's a hugh talent and could have easily won Entertainer of the year in his prime (for his type of music) BUT he, IMHO, cannot sing at all!!!!

I love how they made jokes about Kanye West and his rude interruption! :rotfl2:

Not one of the girls you listed is a singer songwriter.

She is the definition of a total package, not only can she write a hit song (at her age!) she can and does sing live for thousands upon thousands of paying fans and she does it very, very well.

I'm not sure about your "presents herself carefully" comment. God forbid someone is professional while they are at work! Of course she is?

I agree with you on all of this.

This view is totally from my own personal experience:

My daughters have the piano book of the Fearless CD and from the beginning I noticed that there wasn't much variety in the music...i.e. it is the same notes, phrasing over and over (which is really painful to hear over and over....up to 2 hours a day. ) :headache: Hopefully, as Taylor grows her music writing skills will grow.

Merryweather20, there is really no reason to get upset. I just voiced a differing opinion. I am allowed to do that!

Yes, Miranda DOES write songs.

I was paying Taylor a complement (guess I couldn't come up with the right words!) when I said that she was careful about how she presents herself. Its a GOOD thing! No crotch shots. No underage drinking photos.

Hey, I don't demand that YOU like every artist that I do. YOU are entitled to your opinon........just as I am......and they don't have to be the same!!!;)

:confused3 How are they getting much variety of anything with only 2 hours a day? Do you want to check, maybe they're just playing one song :rotfl:

She's no Handel, but she is an extremely talented kid, and can write circles around some of her "peers" many who are more than twice her age.

I play her music on the flute and trust me she uses plenty of the notes.

I don't care for Taylor's music, but I'm not mean enough to cut her down, just because I feel like lumping all young girls together in the same tabloid box, not bothering to check whether they fit the box or not.

I'll have to take you at your word on Miranda. Her music and Kelli's don't ever cross the border. Interesting in itself...

If you were paying Taylor a compliment, I couldn't tell. Saying someone can throw their head around "unendingly" does not come off as a compliment in my circles.

Entertainer of the Year I get. When I think of that, I think of someone who is on the radio frequently, on the tv, someone who is on tour, whose concerts sell out quickly. Almost like a popularity contest. Taylor fits that bill.

Female vocalist of the year sorry don't get that one. Popular she is ,but vocalist not so much. Her songs are cute but not great. I am not a fan of the the POP crossover. I listen to pop and country but I like to keep it seperate.

I also do not like when one artist dominates awards it makes it seem less diversified.

I have a question. On the commercials for the awards show, they said there was going to be an appearance by a star that hasn't been on in four years. Who was it? I was only half watching it, but I didn't see who it was. I was thinking it would be Garth Brooks, but I don't think it was.
BTW, I really like Taylor Swift. I think she is very talented.

You don't like her music......and yet because I stated that I don't think she can sing well, you are gonna get bent? Ok.........:rolleyes1

Have a nice day:hippie:

I believe that was in reference to the performance by Tim McGraw.

Peyjax, I listen to XM radio and they have been having a poll all morning. Most people have been saying the same thing! Vocalist? No. Entertainer? Yes, maybe.
