He just hates the sharks I have...)
I do not have a tattoo, but my 17 year old daughter obtained one illegally. In PA, a parent does not have to be present (like some other states), but one does need to be 18. She was NEVER carded. I was FURIOUS when I found out. It's right on the back of her neck, so I cringe more that she didn't get it in a place that could be hid with clothing (aside from a turtleneck, but does anyone even wear them?).
The law in PA states the tattooer will be fined $100 IF they give a minor one without parental consent. It doesn't matter if it's the first offense against the tattooer or the 100th. It's still a $100 fine. That infuriates me because I fully believe the penalty should become must stiffer as the citations are racked up. Not so though!
There are many jobs that mandate no visible tattoos allowed (a lot of times they allow you to cover them). While I have nothing against tattoos per say, I don't think a minor understands what the possible repercussions might entail and it infuriates me to no end that some in that business only care about the $ they'll receive. If, as an adult, you're willing to suffer any consequences that may come along with these tattoos, I say more power to you if that's what you want to do. I don't think you have the right to cry foul however if something like this were to keep a company from hiring you (and I'm not trying to suggest no one would hire someone with visible tattoos, I'm just saying, it could end up being a consequence in certain circumstances). Most minors wouldn't even give it any consideration before obtaining one and they can cost upward to 50K to remove, but that would be worst case scenario. Easily however, any removal will be in the thousands.
I have 3 (all Disney, all 13 years old, all well done) and I cannot wait to get them lasered off.
Everyone and their dog has a tattoo now. It will be expensive and painful, but I am going to start the process in 2010.![]()
Just a question, not meant to offend or anything, but why don't you want them anymore? Is it just because they are becoming so popular? Or you don't like the designs? I was just curious.
Yes, I have a tattoo on my right ankle on the outside. I got it the November after I turned 18 in July. I completely regret doing it though. It's like my body is tarnished
I am fine with anyone having whatever tattoo they want, as offensive as it may be too but I really wish I didn't get one now
Oh well, maybe I'll get it removed one day but no hurry, it's not a bad tattoo... if it was a tramp stamp though, that would be a different story, I'd have that removed right away!
Not yet, but I turn 45 next week and intend to get the one I planned to get for my 40th but let DH talk me out of. DH and I had discussion last night. He is still not real 'okay' with it, thinks it is 'white trash'. That is until I reminded him that he dips snuff and IMO that is about as white trash as it comes. That shut him up![]()
I HATE them.
I don't have any. I'm not opposed to them or anything, I'm just a huge chicken and am scared of needles.Heck, I fainted when I got my upper ear cartilage pierced.
I have friends with tattoos, though. They are much braver than I am.

I have 3 and most of my friends all have at least one. Of course, my DH was in a heavy metal band for years so most of our friends are from that scene, thus tattoos go with the territory.
Not offended at all.
I would say that it's 51% that they're soooo popular now and 49% that I'd like to be able to wear a cute dress without showing them. The one on my stomach doesn't look so good after 2 kids, but the ones on my back and ankle (Rafiki and the Fox and the Hound respectively) look great. And I still love them. I'm just tired of them.

My son-in-law has a large masculine angel with his son's baby picture on one upper arm, he is going to have the same thing done on the other arm with his daughter's picture.
you go sista.
How are you sure they didn't card her? Obviously, you know your daughter better than i do, but i can totally see myself telling my mom that they didn't card me, to save someone else from getting in trouble, or to hide a fake ID or something...just sayin.
