Tasty Planning Time with ZeBrook! A 2 for 1 PTR - 12/24 - All our bags are packed

We just took Belle to the Dr. yesterday and she is two inches past the height requirement, so I'm sure Henry will be just fine. :thumbsup2

When I worked at B&B show, there were a few spots for wheelchairs & ECV's down in the front. At Fantasmic there were only spots in the back, though. That's all I know about that.:rolleyes1

Im sorry to hear that your foot is still giving you trouble. I feel for you. My oldest dd had foot surgery on May 15th and then again on the other foot June 15th. We were hoping she would be all healed up and running around by Aug 15th as she had to be back to college (translation for feet- lots of walking). She is still having lots of swelling on her second foot and cant get shoes on! She is wearing these tacky velcro sandels that we bought when we were at Hilton Head last month. The feet take so long to heal, so good thing you are getting an ECV. All that walking would only aggravate them.
Heres hoping that it will be a smooth trip for you! And practicing on the EVC is a great idea. My mom had to be on one a few years back because she sliced her foot open a few days before we left for our trip! She had never used one and when she was backing the thing into a spot at FOTLK she kept ramming the bleachers. They make a horrible vibrating sound when that happens- just so you'll know, ha ha!!

Have a great trip!! You are so close!!

You know, the boot may be a good thing. I opens up a whole new world of TR Title possiblities.

I mean the possibilities are limitless!

Congrats on booking the 5th! Can't wait to see your Wishes pics!

Okay Biscuit! You're hired! You are so clever, do you want to come up with a TR title for me???:lmao::lmao:

Brooke,
I know that you are going to make the best of the situation at hand (you already are). From what I've experienced at Disney, they are very conscious of ECV's and wheelchair guests, so you shouldn't have any problem there. I also agree with everyone that has mentioned the fact that the walking may very well hurt you in the long run, so use the ECV and that will be and adventure in itself! The countdown continues, hurray!!:banana:

LOVE all of these....especially #2!!! :lmao:

Yay for the 5th!!!! :yay:

Oh Brooke I am so sorry about your foot!!! I am just getting updated and that stinks that your foot is not doing better. I hope everything works out well with the ECV. It is also exciting that you got into a Wishes Dessert party and can't wait to read all about it.

I'm so sorry to hear your foot does not seem to be healing as fast as you thought it might. :flower3: I think the ECV is a great idea, as you'll be able to enjoy the trip without being in pain. I'll be interested to hear your experiences with it as well, as I know we'll need one for my dad next time we take him.

And :woohoo: for one week!!!

SO sorry about the boot-hoped you could give it "the boot" Congrats on the Wishes and dessert party YUM. Can't wait to read the TR.

GB those were awesome!

Brooke taking care of you is impt! Good decision on the ECV for you all. Cannot wait to hear about the party! You are so close!

I cannot believe how close we are. I told Henry tonight, "We get to see Mickey in FIVE DAYS!" and he went "Oooooh!" and did a little hop. He pretty much summed it up! :yay:

I'm really enjoying reading along with your PTR. I hope your foot is feeling better soon!

The other day I picked up a pair of the same Teva flip flops that you got. I was looking to try a new brand and remembered your photo of them a few months ago. Love them! So comfy!

Thanks for reading! I'm glad you have been enjoying it!

So glad to hear you like the Mushies! I really like them too - they are so soft and comfy, a perfect fit in the rotation of park shoes.

I can't believe I haven't mentioned this already...last year in October I went to the parks for a few days and a couple weeks before I left I fell down the stairs and twisted my ankle. Before leaving the swelling was pretty minimal and everything had gone back down to normal. I threw my support in "just in case." A few hours into the first day and the swelling was going up, glad I threw it in. So even if you're doing fine at home, the extra walking at Disney really takes a toll. My friend had to keep telling me to sit when I could because she wasn't going to push me around! So it really is better to be prepared for it.

I read on the disAbilities board last night that the average person does 3-6 miles of walking a day in Disney World, and I totally believe it! Plus all that standing while waiting can be a killer. I think you have convinced me to wear my big boot down on the plane and throw the little guy into the luggage. Then I'm set for either way.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: OMG! Too funny! I love them all!! But, I have to agree with Brook, It's a Great Big Bootiful Tomorrow is my fav!!!!

Brook, I'm so, so sorry! Your right though, you need to take care!! God forbid you make it worse! Not to mention how unhappy you'll be if you have to limit yourself on the trip! With the ECV you'll be much more able to go, go, go!

Congrats on the desert party!!! It sounds like a lot of fun! We did the Illuminations dinner and desert party last year and it was great! I hope you have a blast!! Just so you know, my coffee sister, they may have good coffee too!!!! They did at the Illuminations party! I know at 9 pm you may not want a cup of coffee thats going to keep you awake in an hour or 2 when your trying to sleep but they're small cups and it was good!!!

OH GOODNESS YES I WANT COFFEE AT 9 PM! :lmao: At home, no way, but at Disney, count me in!!! Espeically to go with little creme brulee and chocolate covered strawberries... If it's the good coffee I'll so be sneaking my mug under that tap...:rolleyes1 ;)

I'll have a foot/ECV update below!

Glad to hear you've decided to do the ECV. While it is a bummer, it will work out best for everyone I am sure.

I cannot wait to see/hear about the dessert party. I bet it will be AWESOME!

Joe cannot stop talking about the dessert party. Today he said while at work he was dreaming of watching the fireworks while nibbling on dessert.

I bet Henry would love riding Barnstormer since he seems to like those thrill rides!

I hope so!!

We just took Belle to the Dr. yesterday and she is two inches past the height requirement, so I'm sure Henry will be just fine. :thumbsup2

I think Henry will be just about right with the height requirement of 35" - perhaps just above. We will take him to his 2 year appointment after we get back.

Oh, you have a story about Fantasmic and the wheelchair/ECVs don't you???!

Oh goodness, that's right! I forgot about your daughter's foot surgeries. I seriously just cannot even fathom being down on BOTH feet. That poor girl. I hope she heals up soon and the pain goes away completely for her!

I am SURE I'll run into a few things riding along on one of those. It will make good TR fodder, right?! I love how they beep when they back up too. Makes me always feel like a parade float or something. Did your Mom use one on the buses, or just in the parks?

I have devoured many posts on the disAbilities thread and learned SO much about using an ECV while at Disney World - I feel pretty good about it now, and Joe and I talked a bit too, he calmed a few of my fears and we devised a good plan.

LOVE all of these....especially #2!!! :lmao:

Yay for the 5th!!!! :yay:

Isn't GB a riot?! :thumbsup2 I just might keep with that "It's a Great Big Bootiful Tomorrow"...

Oh Brooke I am so sorry about your foot!!! I am just getting updated and that stinks that your foot is not doing better. I hope everything works out well with the ECV. It is also exciting that you got into a Wishes Dessert party and can't wait to read all about it.

It is a big bummer about not feeling 100%, but I think we'll be just fine with the ECV. I'm taking the advice from here - it will be an adventure! As our trips always seem to be.

I'm so sorry to hear your foot does not seem to be healing as fast as you thought it might. :flower3: I think the ECV is a great idea, as you'll be able to enjoy the trip without being in pain. And :woohoo: for one week!!!

I will be sure to report back the fun and folly with the ECV. I'm sure I'll run into a few things, perhaps get stuck somewhere (I almost once got stuck between two displays at Target...) and who knows what else! I'm most curious about how it works with the ride lines, as I don't really need to take it directly onto any ride that has adaptable vehicles for it - I can get off and walk into a ride vehicle....

SO sorry about the boot-hoped you could give it "the boot" Congrats on the Wishes and dessert party YUM. Can't wait to read the TR.

GB those were awesome!

I was hoping to give it the boot too! :guilty: I think it's been 5 weeks now instead of 3. Perhaps even 6? Sigh.

BUT, I know there is an end to it. It might be just wearing the boot a bit longer, or it might be something more serious - but it will end!

The wishes party will be grand! It's good to see you got it booked.

Tracy is awesome. If you ask her nicely she might share some of the ECV loading videos for some of the rides. Some are quite interesting.

The boot titles are a scream!!!
:rotfl2:

I just booked the Wishes party for our trip too! I am so excited. Can't wait to find out how you liked it.

I agree, you need to take care of yourself. If Momma ain't happy, nobody's happy!

Lots of updates lately! I should be cleaning the house, or packing - but I'm here, with my feet up. :thumbsup2 Packing and cleaning will have to wait for another day.

This is probably going to be a very boring post, so I'll end it with some pretty pictures.

On the ECV/ECV (which is it?) front...after some discussion with Joe and weighing of the options, I have decided to not rent an ECV from an off-site company.

Instead, when we go to the parks, I will assess how I'm doing and determine if I need and ECV. Chances are the answer will be yes, unless I receive a divine healing from God between now and then!

So, we will rent it from the park. We figured we will be arriving early enough in the day that they shouldn't have run out, and it's a lower crowd time as well. The cost is a bit higher in the park; however, we decided this would be better for a few reasons:

  1. If I do determine I don't need it, then we aren't stuck with the cost from the off-site company
  2. We won't need to find a place to park it in our hotel room
  3. We won't have to think about waiting for the right bus that can accommodate the ECV
  4. I won't have to maneuver it onto the bus
#4 holds the most weight.

I really did not want to deal with navigating it onto a bus and then off again. Might sound silly, but it's true.

Plus, I CAN walk. I walk quite a bit at work/home with the boot-I just can't do 3+ miles a day in the boot. When we are just resort hopping or going to MK for the Wishes Dessert Party, I can walk - I won't have to think about the ECV.

So, the current plan is, wear the big boot on the plane, pack the small boot in the luggage. Rent an ECV as needed from the parks. If necessary, also rent a push wheelchair from CSR for around the resort. Joe already said he'd push me around. :goodvibes

I really like this plan, I'm comfortable with it and confident. :thumbsup2

I'm also working on The Plan 1.3...I'll try to post that tomorrow or Sunday.

Onto pretty pictures!

:rotfl2:

Oh boy - ECV loading videos! I can only imagine. I am sure I won't be the most smooth, but thankfully I do have some experience over the past weeks from shopping.

Who is Tracy? I think I must have missed that somewhere along the way...is she on the disAbilities board?

I just booked the Wishes party for our trip too! I am so excited. Can't wait to find out how you liked it.

I agree, you need to take care of yourself. If Momma ain't happy, nobody's happy!

:yay: Glad you got it booked too!!! It looks just awesome, doesn't it?

You are right, Joe gets all worked up if I'm not happy/he knows I'm in pain. And I get GRUMPY. It will ruin my trip if I'm in pain, so I gotta do whatever I can to avoid that! :thumbsup2

Brooke,
I would really think about what is important to be close to at CSR before your trip...and perhaps change your request to match that. I think you will be fine on the buses no matter where you are, but if you want to be by the main building... make a request and have perhaps call and explain your situation. You get in sooooo late, you need to have the "perfect" room waiting!

What a fab pic of DeVine! I am hoping my parents will be able to see her when we go.

Brooke, I have actually toured the world in a boot twice. Once I used an ECV and once I did not. I say go for the ECV! By the way when I flew with the boot on, security did not make me take it off but they did test it for gunpowder residue.:)

What gorgeous pictures Brook!! I really like the one of the Spectro with the castle in the background!!!

I think renting at the parks is a great idea and will allow you more of the freedom and probably make you more comfortable!!!

Oh my precious french toast loaf how I miss thee....I wish they would bring that back it was heaven on a plate!!

YAY for getting into the Wishes Dessert Party...you guys are going to love it!!!!! I also can't wait for your review of it before I go LOL

I think it is a great idea that you are going to rent from the park when needed! I couldn't imagine trying to maneuver that thing onto and off of the bus!! Good call ;).

Did you take all of those pictures? They are gorgeous!! Really looking forward to your TR!!

Eek! Just a few days away for you!! How cool!!! And Henry's response - adorable!! :goodvibes

Your ECV plan sounds like a good one - the whole getting it on/off the bus would freak me out!! Nice to know that you won't have to worry about it (plus, having Joe has your personal chauffeur for around the resort - BONUS!)

Love all your pictures. And you asked about Stacy. She's still there, but in a very, very, very tamed down version. (the new version isn't even on You Tube! Must say something about it!) I should know... Noah wanted to watch her show over and over and over - it put him to sleep so I guess it's an okay thing!! "Have fun doin'" She wasn't as perky, which was an okay thing in my book!

Have a great time at the dessert party - we loved it! A much more peaceful way to wait for the Fireworks to start!

Beautiful Castle picture you posted. Can I borrow it?????? :rotfl:I am doing a photobook on shutterfly and I can't find one castle picture that I really, really like.

So sorry your foot is still bothering you. My DS15 had a boot on during a visit to King's dominion. He did fine, but then again, he is a kid! I think your plan to rent the ECV at the park is a good idea. I know I could never drive one of those things on and off the bus. It would be so comical some bored bus rider would probably video tape me crashing into things and I would end up on youtube! It would not be pretty!

Leaving in less than a week.....That is so exciting! :thumbsup2 Have a wonderful, magical trip!
