Tasty Planning Time with ZeBrook! A 2 for 1 PTR - 12/24 - All our bags are packed

I would prefer to be able to take the scooter right up to the front of the line, then get right into the ride, and leave the scooter off to the side...but it sounds like not many of the rides work that way?

Most rides you can take the chair to the designated loading zone. On POC, you will be asked to transfer to a manual chair because the loading and exiting of the ride are in different places.

Hi Brook! I stopped reading your update as soon as I got to the part about you booking the Wishes dessert party. I jumped on the phone and called Disney and booked one for myself!!!! I can't wait. :yay::yay:

Now back to reading the update!!

YAY for the Wishes Dessert Party!! You guys are going to have a great time and eat some amazing food LOL!!! I'm very very excited for you!!! I can't wait to see your pictures!!

I think you have made a great decision...you want to enjoy Disney and not have to worry about making things harder for yourself when you return home!! Going the ECV route is a good way to go!!!!!

Brook I think I know why you couldn't get the Wishes Dessert party for 9/6.
Please note that Tomorrowland Terrace Cafe is only open on these select nights:

August 16, 23 and 30
September 6, 13, 20 and 27

They are serving a buffet dinner at that location (Tomorrowland Terrace) on that night, along with a few other nights because of the demand with free dining those dates.

Brook,

I am so sorry that your foot does not heal as it should!! Less than one week is so close to your trip!! And you should only be excited and happy about it not having to worry about being able to walk. But I think renting an ECV might be the right thing to do! You will be able to tour WDW without doing any damage to yourself. And it will help you healing until your big trip at Christmas. You really want to be healthy again for that!!! :goodvibes Even if it will not be the trip you imagined, I am sure it will be a wonderful trip! And I am sure you will have many interesting stories to tell about WDW from that perspective - hopefully it will not include you driving over someon's foot!! :scared1::scared1:

I am sure it will be a wonderful trip too! As long as no one gets sick this time!!! I am starting to feel more calm about the ECV as I learn about it. I do think it's the best idea - and you are right, I want to be all healed up and good before Christmas.

Also, I've been meaning to tell you - I still haven't gotten your DVD in the mail. :headache: I'm VERY sorry - I keep forgetting to buy a mailer. We have to go to Target tonight and I WILL BUY ONE and get it in the mail before our trip!!!

Congratulations on Wishes!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes Can't you see Illuminations on the 6th instead??

Thank you! I'm so excited about it! It will be so much easier with Henry to have a location we can be sitting at and excellent "distraction" tools of chocolate and sugar. ;)

And YES, I think the 6th will work perfectly for Illuminations - I have to look a bit deeper into it all, but we are at DHS on the 6th, so we can easily buzz over to Epcot for Illuminations...

Most rides you can take the chair to the designated loading zone. On POC, you will be asked to transfer to a manual chair because the loading and exiting of the ride are in different places.

That is great to hear! I thought I had understood you just the opposite. Thank you again for all the help!

Hi Brook! I stopped reading your update as soon as I got to the part about you booking the Wishes dessert party. I jumped on the phone and called Disney and booked one for myself!!!! I can't wait. :yay::yay:

Now back to reading the update!!

:rotfl: So glad you got it too!!!!!!! :yay: I'm thrilled they extended it, I hope it becomes a regular addition.

I am very much looking forward to all those pretty pretty desserts. And I think it will be so nice to have a place to sit without having to scope one out early and corral a toddler. The price is worth it for that alone!

The more I think about and look into the ECV, the more comfortable I am with it. It really is the best way I think.

Brook I think I know why you couldn't get the Wishes Dessert party for 9/6.

Ah! That does make sense! Thanks for the info - otherwise I might have tried a few more times for the 6th!

If you using Disney busses just make sure to be in the correct line, and visible. They have to load ECV's and wheelchairs first for safety reasons, so if it doesn't look like the bus driver is going to open the back door or come to the back of the bus to load you, make sure to have your hubby go up to the bus driver and let them know.

I would not try to leave the park right at closing either, look through the shops, take in the views, slowly walk out because there are only so many accessible spots on the bus and sometimes there could be a long wait at closing, after Spectro or Wishes etc.

Bill and I always take our time leaving Epcot after Illuminations, we sit and wait for the crowds to clear out and then walk slowly from the World Showcase, it is wonderful to walk out without the crowds and hear all the background music, ahhh I can't wait to be back.

Aww Brook-you do sound a bit sad about your foot but you're also right-you're going to Disney World and its going to be awesome regardless! Just make sure you have your meds to control your discomfort...

Think of the stories you'll have with the ECV-and its sure to make a great trip report too...:thumbsup2

Congrats on getting the Wishes Dessert Party-How fun will that be? :cloud9:

Remember you are going back also-just relax, do what you can do and soak up the amazing details and atmosphere-and who knows-you may just notice things at that level that you normally don't...

Getting closer and closer and closer....

I'm sorry to hear of your foot issues and it's not 100%. I do agree, better safe than sorry and who wants to be miserable, right? Especially in the heat! YIKES!

I was contemplating the Wishes Dessert party, however we're already doing the Pirates and Pals Fireworks cruise so I don't need to spend too much $$ watching fireworks all week! It could get a little overkill, ya know? :rotfl2: You'll have to let us know your perspective on it so hopefully next time around we can try it! :)

I'm so excited for you guys..

Heather

Sorry to hear that your foot is not healing as well as you would like, but I am glad that you are being sensible and going for the ECV. It will enable you to enjoy your time so much better. And Wishes Dessert Party!!!!

Welcome back!! How was your trip? It has to be so nice to know you have another trip coming up so quickly!!! Maybe the Disney Blues won't hit so hard.

We are staying in a Standard View (saving on the points) in December - thank you for the advice on the viewing! I have never really gotten to see many animals at Jambo House-nearly every time I've ever been there and looked there is maybe 1 animal wayyyy in the distance. I always seem to go at the wrong time! So, I'm happy to hear that it seems closer/better viewing at Kidani-perhaps I'll finally see some animals! We do plan to check out Kidani while we are there (in SIX DAYS! sorry...had to! ;)). We'll head over there after our time at AK.

My trip was great! I was a little apprehensive about the heat but it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. And we did take much needed afternoon breaks almost every day so that helped a lot. And it really didn't rain much -- most of the time we happened to be inside and then it just blew over. I only wore a poncho once the whole trip and that was for about all of 20 minutes. The October trip is definitely helping the Disney Blues since now I'm just in trip planning mode for that and I love the F&W festival!

I'm staying at Kidani standard view in Oct -- I hear you on the points. Some animal viewing advice. They feed the animals in the morning so they are really not out on the savanna then. It would have been nice to see them when we were getting ready to head out but there only seemed to be a stray ostrich or 2. We saw lots of animals in the afternoon when we came back for our breaks so that seemed to be the best time. There were also animals when we came back at night but it was really too dark to see anything. Another great place is the library area right off the lobby. If you go down the hallway off the right side of the lobby the library is on your left hand side. You can see the animals from there and you can also go outside on the balcony and enjoy one of the rocking chairs while you enjoy the view! This was a neat little relaxing area.

So...I jumped the gun.

After hitting "Submit" on my post above, my TA replied back with bad news.

NO DATES AVAILABLE for the party during our dates. NONE!

How could that even possibly be? It just got extended today! I know people have had a lot of trouble getting it booked, the CMs have had to play with the system and the times in order for it to even come up (so I've read here on the DIS).

So, I decided I would try.

And nope - nothing on the 6th. The CM I spoke to thought it wasn't being offered at all that day. :sad2:

BUT-She asked me for another date, I offered the 5th...and WE ARE BOOKED! This is our Epcot day, I think I need to do some plan adjustments - I would still really like to view Illuminations if we can fit it in somewhere.

So, September 5 we'll be munching on lovely desserts during Wishes!! :thumbsup2 And, I promise lots and lots and LOTS of pictures!

Yay for the Wishes dessert party! We just did this last week and is was really worth it! We had a great table and the view of the fireworks was really good:thumbsup2 And Tinkerbell flies right over your head!! Can't beat that. I know there's been some mixed info on viewing of Specto from there -- you can see it but it's pretty far away. We kind of had no choice but to view it from there since our check in time was during Spectro. But it was all good. Oh, and the desserts are fabulous! Everything was fresh and they replenished everything. There was even stuff left after Wishes was over. I had read some reviews where people complained they didn't refresh anything and the desserts were warm or soggy, but we didn't find that to be the case at all. It was so nice not to have to fight to find a place to watch the fireworks. You are going to love it!!

As for the ECV, I think you should just look at it as an adventure. You'll have fun no matter what and you'll be back soon hopefully without it. Better to feel good than to injure your foot further:goodvibes

You know, the boot may be a good thing. I opens up a whole new world of TR Title possiblities.

Giving Disney the Boot
It's a Great Big Bootiful Tomorrow
Boot Scooting Trippie
A Shoe is a Dream you Boot Makes (Inspired by a chapter from Mrs. The King)
Bippity Boppity Boot-tique
Some Day My Shoe Will Come
Yo-Ho-Ho and Boot-Full of Fun

I mean the possibilities are limitless!

Congrats on booking the 5th! Can't wait to see your Wishes pics!

This is all so good to know - excellent advice! Is there usually a CM there to say where the ECV should go in line? Or it it labeled? I've never noticed.

We love to take our time leaving too-it's so peaceful and beautiful. I'll never forget leaving after Illuminations on our Disneymoon, we walked slowly-hand in hand and then came upon the fountain and it was all lit up and dancing to the music-we stood there in awe. SO beautiful!!!!

I am a bit sad/frustrated about it. But trying not to let it get me down! And you are right-I probably will notice new things and learn some new things. It will be a whole different trip!

Getting closer and closer and closer....

The Pirates & Pals Fireworks cruise sounds AWESOME! I bet that will be a great time! And yep, I will be sure to report back in full detail on the party. I really hope it's something they choose to keep due to it's popularity.

Sorry to hear that your foot is not healing as well as you would like, but I am glad that you are being sensible and going for the ECV. It will enable you to enjoy your time so much better. And Wishes Dessert Party!!!!

I think so too-Joe and I were talking earlier and he said we should do whatever it takes to make it so I'm not miserable (or making HIM miserable!). This is the best move for all of us!

I'm happy to hear that about the heat! And the rain! :thumbsup2

And thank you for the awesome advice on Kidani! :yay: I am thinking in December we'll be doing a lot of afternoon breaks to avoid those crazy crowds - and we'll be enjoying the resort. I'll remember that about the library and the balcony. It sounds just heavenly!

And I'm very excited to hear your great review of the Wishes Dessert Party! I haven't read any reviews, other than that of Kathy from the PodCast here on the DIS - she also loved it. Our check in time is also right at the start of Spectro, but that's OK with me. Joe is SUPER excited about this and thinks its going to be the highlight of our trip, being we don't have to find a curb and keep a toddler entertained for a couple hours, but we'll all be happy, eating and sitting...plus with a great view. :thumbsup2 I'm going to try to snag a pic of Tink! :yay:

That is good advice about viewing the ECV as an adventure - and yes, we will have fun not matter what!!

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Oh my word GB! You are a RIOT! I am pretty partial to #2, "It's a Great Big Bootiful Tomorrow" being that I highly enjoy CoP! I also like "Some Day My Shoe will Come" because that is how I feel some days...Someday I'll be able to wear two shoes again...

:rotfl: I'm going to have to tell Joe about this-he's gonna have fun with it!!

Brooke taking care of you is impt! Good decision on the ECV for you all. Cannot wait to hear about the party! You are so close!

I'm really enjoying reading along with your PTR. I hope your foot is feeling better soon!

The other day I picked up a pair of the same Teva flip flops that you got. I was looking to try a new brand and remembered your photo of them a few months ago. Love them! So comfy!

I can't believe I haven't mentioned this already...last year in October I went to the parks for a few days and a couple weeks before I left I fell down the stairs and twisted my ankle. Before leaving the swelling was pretty minimal and everything had gone back down to normal. I threw my support in "just in case." A few hours into the first day and the swelling was going up, glad I threw it in. So even if you're doing fine at home, the extra walking at Disney really takes a toll. My friend had to keep telling me to sit when I could because she wasn't going to push me around! So it really is better to be prepared for it.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: OMG! Too funny! I love them all!! But, I have to agree with Brook, It's a Great Big Bootiful Tomorrow is my fav!!!!

Brook, I'm so, so sorry! Your right though, you need to take care!! God forbid you make it worse! Not to mention how unhappy you'll be if you have to limit yourself on the trip! With the ECV you'll be much more able to go, go, go!

Congrats on the desert party!!! It sounds like a lot of fun! We did the Illuminations dinner and desert party last year and it was great! I hope you have a blast!! Just so you know, my coffee sister, they may have good coffee too!!!! They did at the Illuminations party! I know at 9 pm you may not want a cup of coffee thats going to keep you awake in an hour or 2 when your trying to sleep but they're small cups and it was good!!!

Just a quick posting before work...

ONE week from today we'll be...

Dressed and ready to go, grabbing all those last minute items from the room and heading out to the bus stop. We are headed to MK for breakfast with Pooh & Friends! After breakfast we'll hit up Fantasyland...will Henry ride Barnstormer????

Glad to hear you've decided to do the ECV. While it is a bummer, it will work out best for everyone I am sure.

I cannot wait to see/hear about the dessert party. I bet it will be AWESOME!
