no, not as much since they worked on the Disney cards the year before. Was there this much skepticism last year about the coupon working on Disney cards as there is this year? I have a 2 hr drive from Canada to get to my closest Target and am having serious doubts now.
The print ad clearly says that online users who spend $75 will get the coupons emailed to them, so that's what I'm doing. No need to venture to the store.
Someone on slickdeals posted the actual 20% coupon scan and it says it excludes "gift cards, iTunes cards,...." This makes me think that it might actually work. The $10 gift card deal of the past just said it excluded gift cards which really meant Target gift cards. The fact that they specifically mention iTunes and nothing else gives me hope.
And I know at least one of you saw my thread on slickdeals so hi!![]()
You could have just said that in the first place.
Instead you chose to say
"It is usually useless to ask a Target employee anything. I really don't remember ever recieving a correct answer from a Target employee."
That is a direct quote from you. I'm sorry, but it offended me. Whether you meant to or not.
I like a good deal as much as anyone. And I can and will, as a Target employee, give a correct answer. In fact, I often do share in the store and here on the Dis boards. It is not "usually useless" to ask me anything. This Target employee is capable of giving correct answers.
However, when a deal gets leaked in an unofficial website (such as the terms of a future coupon we have not handed out yet) I may not be at liberty to share all the details. That still does not make it useless to ask me anything, it means you are just going to have to wait until later for the answer.
Honestly, in the terms of entertainment cards, it is going to have to be trial and error with this coupon. There will be exclusions and it is currently unclear if entertainment cards will be excluded as well.
That is your correct answer as of today.
Hope it helps.
FYI, the deal isn't leaked.. Target has the black friday ad posted on their website, you can see it there.
I may be totally off-base with this comment, but isn't it possible that those who are using the coupons to buy thousands of dollars worth of gift cards are dooming any future use of coupons for gift cards? In addition, is it really fair for some individuals to wipe out the stock to pay for their cruise or their DVC dues?
I have no idea how stores like Target are compensated for selling gift cards for other establishments like Disney or Starbucks, but I am guessing that their profit margin must be relatively low. It just seems like at some point, Target would likely pull the plug on allowing it if they aren't making any profit or are losing money.
*Note: I'm not talking about the everyday 5% discount by using the Red Card.

GiantsNiners11 said:I got what the OP said and didn't think it was offensive. I agree that asking most workers in retail is often a silly proposition to begin with. It's not a "smart/not smart" thing and I doubt the OP meant it that way. It's more of a "No matter what answer you get...it's not really worth anything" because what a Target employee says, unless it's a GM, isn't going to be worth anything when it comes time to do the deal. You are rarely going to get 100% accurate information because of the reasons you mentioned yourself and even if you did, corporate and GM's get final say on how those rules are interpreted. They also often change last minute. I think it's awesome that you enjoy working retail and are proud of it, but I also wouldn't be so quick to get offended. We live in such a PC friggin world where everyone gets offended over everything. I really doubt this person was attacking people as "not having a brain" as your response indicated.

Can we clarify something here? Because I'd REALLY like to get my hands on one of those 20% coupons.
If you show up at Target when they open at 8PM, and spend $75+, you don't get a coupon? But if you show up after midnight and spend $75+, you do?
I sure as hell hope that's not the case, because otherwise my behind will camping it in the store with my items until 12:01AM. I don't want to, but you bet I will.

Why? Can't you get your deals on Thursday at 8, go home to get a normal night's sleep, and then go back sometime on Friday to either purchase needed groceries or $100 worth of Disney gift cards? Or place an online order for gift cards on Friday? I sure would rather than camp out in Target for 5 hours (I'm on the east coast, so 12:01 CST isn't until 1:01 a. m. here!)

Gotcha. I assumed, probably wrongly, that you were wanting the 20% coupon to get a bunch of Disney Gift Cards, just because that's what I have in mind. If that's your goal, the $100 of gift cards on BF would just be a step in that direction. If you're planning to use the 20% coupon on other items, I guess it doesn't help.Actually, no, we can't. We're basically tackling all of Christmas on BF, and it's the spare budget. We never need to shop for that much in groceries because we keep a healthy stock on hand 24/7 (especially this time of the year when power outages in the area are spontaneous). And placing orders online is pointless when, again, you've already gotten what you needed in the store itself for a better price.
