Target and Disney Gift Cards

The benefit would be that you can get discounts on it, such as the ones listed in previous posts (ie: employee discount)

I know a lot of people buy then using Target credit/debit cards, because you also get a standard 5% off all of your purchases.

Can someone tell me the benefit from buying the Disney cards from Target?

The benefit is only if you're getting a discount. For those of us with Target Visa cards or Target debit cards, you get a 5% discount on your purchase. Thus, buying $100 worth of Disney GCs costs you only $95 if you put it on your Target credit or debit card. There are other discounts for Target employees and, apparently, a pharmacy discount that could be applied.

If you're just going to purchase a Disney GC without any of those discounts, it doesn't really matter where you get it.

I asked DH about this and of course, like a typical man, he couldn't have a simple answer. So, he wrote it down for me. He's been with Target for 21 years. LOL!!

Basically the debit card is treated as a check. You start out at a level 0. This means that you can write 1-3 checks/debit transactions per 30 day rolling period. The max amount is $100 per transaction and the monthly max is $250.

He wrote down all 4 levels. LOL!!

1- 3-7 checks/debit transactions $200 max transaction, $500 rolling 30 day max.

2- 7-10 checks/debits transactions, $350 max, $850 rolling max total

3-10-12 checks/debit transactions, $500 max, $1000 rolling max total

4- 12+ checks.debit transactions, $1000 max, $3000 rolling max total

To go up a level you must meet # of checks/debit transactions withing a rolling 30 day period. If one returned NSF fee in that 30 day rolling period, you go back one level.

I hope that makes sense...... LOL!!

Just so I understand this correctly...the first month I could buy 3 to 7 Disney Gift Cards, but I'd have to split it into at least 2 days since I couldn't spend more than $200 at one time?

Has anyone tried purchasing them with the one day 10% off you get when you first open a red credit card account?

You guys make me jealous. I have 3 targets within 10 miles of me. None sell Disney gift cards. I've been calling and looking.

Have you looked in the electronics department? They are back there, not by the registers.

If you can visit a Target store, ask an employee where the GC's for restaurants and the like are located. They are in different sections of different stores (the east side store in my area has them with electronics, the west end store has them in books/dvds, haven't tried the south end yet). They do not keep them in the check out lines and they aren't with the Target GCs.

Yes. There are other entertainment type cards there like restaurants and even Universal. Never any Disney. I also asked the service desks. Nope they said never heard of them being sold in the stores.

Target doesn't offer the 10% off first purchase anymore. Now it is just 5% off on every trip. (vs before when you had to spend 1K to earn another 10% off day)

I just purchased $1000 worth off gift cards with my %5 off RX discount plus got my everyday %5 off too so in total %10 off

over all i purchased $2000 worth that one day :) :thumbsup2 All paid off and extra for our MNSSHP tickets too!

Just bought $2000 worth. never knew what would go but at my Target they were really nice about it.

Worth the savings to do it this way!!:thumbsup2

I'm wondering, since I have my trip paid in full if I can change the method of payment and pay with the gift cards instead of my debit card. I emailed my TA to see if it can be done..... Keeping my fingers crossed. LOL!!

I applied for the debit card and I purchased something small that day, plus a gift card as a test. probably less than $75 for the total purchase.

The first time I tried to purchase the GCs in bulk was a week later, I walked up to the register with over $1000 worth. Little did I know about the "limit". I ended up buying $250 after some experimenting with the amounts. Then I purchased $50 of other stuff within 5 minutes because I had other things in my cart.

A week after that I bought $350 of cards.

in a month I used my Target debit card to purchase $650 worth of disney gift cards, PLUS I made several other everday purchases along the way. I was over that $500 monthly limit that was mentioned earlier.

I just find it annoying that they can't tell you what your limit is.
