Tanya & Dan's VR DCL!!!Dec 4, 2009 MK & Epcot Photoshoot Pics Posted

I totally just realized... your vow renewal was originally supposed to be on my birthday (Dec. 12th)! I could have had some of your cake! :rotfl:

Too bad you don't live closer b/c I would tell you to come get some! We are going to have a huge cake on the ship for just the 4 of us and then another one at home in March!

So if your desperate for cake in March, just come all the way down to FL!:lmao:

Just catching up! The paper flowers are very cute:goodvibes. Sorry about the family drama and having extra bridal party members forced on you. I had that for our wedding and it irked me :rotfl:.

I love getting mail, and our mail lady hates when we get packages! That means she actually has to get out of her car and put them on the porch. Today, it was raining, so she tied them up in a plastic garbage bag and just chucked them. I was none too thrilled about that - especially when I discovered my diploma in one of the packages!!

So today, I officially got my college diploma. I need to get it framed. But it's finally here! :lovestruc

My extra flowergirl bracelets came, and they are cute. So this weekend I'll have to give them there gifts and cards.

I also got my crinoline - ordered off of ebay - and 2 boxes of royal blue RIT dye!!!!!!!!!:banana:

I am about to go start the process. I don't have a top loading washing machine, so I think that I am going to try in in the bathtub. Hopefully, it will just bleach out of there when I'm done. :rolleyes1

Wish me luck! I'll post pics when I'm done!!!

:scared1: i'd beat her with teh diploma! go you tho!!!

you may want to check out the tie dye tshirt thread, cus theres mention of soda ash which i think helps the color stay. if it were me- i woudlnt risk the tub tho! i still remember using hair dye in my moms and her moaning about it for years, and i do mean years. it was a little bit of blonde for cying out loud!!!

So I've spent a better part of a day fighting with this sucker!
Here is my before shots:

Here's my dye:

Here's my mess in the kid's bathtub:
Tanyastuff024.jpg

This is when I so wish I didn't have a new washing machine. I had to "agitate" by hand.
Here it is all rinsed out and hung funny to dry:

Here is what it looked like when I was finished:
Tanyastuff026.jpg

Why it is two toned, I have no idea! :confused3

So today, I went back to the store and bought a bottle of liquid dye in royal blue. I was really hoping for it to come out darker. I figured the top layer wouldn't take that much since it is totally synthetic, but I thought the tulle would take more.

So I did the process all over again and started by letting the bottom (lighter) section sit in the dye for about half the day. - The instructions say only 30 mins. Then I dunked the whole thing again for the 30 mins.

When I was done, this is what it looked like:

:rotfl:
It looks pretty much the same. It is hard to tell from the picture, but it is darker. The bottom is a little darker too.

Why didn't the bottom want to dye? Anyone know? I've seen other brides do this, and they don't have that problem.

I actually like it 2 toned b/c it is different. I just hope that it will look good with the dress.

My bathtub survived the ordeal as well.:thumbsup2 A little softscrub with bleach and we are good as new.

i like it! How strange that it is 3 different colours!!?? I wouldnt have any advice to give to you on this as im usless at stuff like this! hehe!

Im sure someone can give you advice - but it looks great as it is!

My only guess would be that they used a different type of tulle on the bottom layer (perhaps a better quality one) because that is the layer you will see most in pictures, etc. Either that or they ran out of the first type! :rotfl: I do like the finished product though. :thumbsup2 And the two different shades will give a bit more dimension in photos, I think.

Trying to see if this will post a cake pic

You are not the first bride to have Crinnie dying problems. Depending on the type of crinnie you get some just don't hold the dye. Mine was from David's bridal and it held the color perfect. I was going to order one from Ebay, but another bride bought one from ebay and advised against dying it since hers didn't work. I forked out the extra $15 for the one from Davids.

So sorry about the family drama! ((HUGS))

well im glad the bathtub survived!!!! that is strange tht it dyed that way. next up try the dollarstore blue markers! lol just kidding, altho nothing can get that color off, lorelei colored herself purple this year when we had a busted hot water tank yeah um fun! lol

I had to totally cool off about the diploma! I can understand how people go "postal":rotfl: Thankfully it's okay. I'm going to order a nice frame from my school whenever I'm done with all the VR stuff.

Thanks! I love that it actually looks different! I think I'm going to use it as is. I held it up to my dress, and it is a big contrast!

I agree that they must have used a different bolt of tulle or something. I hope that all the colors will show up in some pictures! I might have to show a little more leg!

Thanks for the hugs! I debated about the one from the bridal store, but I scored this one on ebay for $20!! The one at David's and here in town would have cost me over $50! I'm going to be thrifty on this one.

Tell me about those markers girl! My kitchen table still bears the marks from those! I can get sharpie marker off of there, but not the $store markers?! At some point I'm going to have to sand it and refinish it.

Don't put it beyond me, the thought of coloring it with markers went through my head. :lmao:
:woohoo::woohoo: Congrats on getting that diploma!! :woohoo::woohoo:

And I love the crinnie! :goodvibes
Thanks! I'm so excited about the diploma, that I'm already trying for another! I think I'm crazy!

Love the paperflowers!!! Love the dresses, and I am so happy for you about getting your diploma. It took me 20 years to get my BA, so it means alot to me!!!

I have loads of homework to do tonight b/c I started my Masters of Education. So I will try to go as fast as I can through this.

I asked the twin girls to be my flower girls at our at home ceremony. They were besides themselves with joy! Even though it was not what we wanted or originally planned, I can't deny those little girls! They were so excited they were about to cry. So okay, mom wins on this one.

Also, my DD turns 3 on Sat. How is that possible? She's my baby!! Anyway, we are working on a princess party for her, and my DH and I are going to attempt to make a Mad Hatter cake for her!!!!

We've looked up how to make them, and it's really simple. Time consuming, but simple. So we've made the cakes already and froze them. We're having devil's chocolate in one layer and strawberry shortcake in another. (She wanted pink cake!) Then we've already made the fondant for the outside in pink and blue. Tonight, we are going to assemble the actual cakes and "dirty ice" it with buttercream. I think we are going to use fudge icing and buttercream. Then Friday night, we'll put the fondant on.

WISH US LUCK! It if works out, then we'll make one for our reception.

So, in honor of her birthday and the cooler weather, we went to Disney yesterday!! We had one of those trips where for every magical thing that happened, we had something go completely wrong! :rotfl: We just have that kind of luck. Overall, it was a good trip. We started off late in the morning, and then we get there and NO MONORAILS were working. I had my heart set on going over to the Grand Floridian and scouting out picture opportunities, plus I wanted to see the Wedding Pavilion. So we had to take the Ferry over to MK, and then a launch boat to GF. But there was huge lines b/c of that being like the only transportation.

So we finally get there, and it was gorgeous!!! All of it. The construction in the GF was a bit upsetting b/c they had the famous staircase blocked off!! I was hoping to do some pics in there. But I'll post the ones we took.

I think that these are the vehicles they use for the weddings. They had them on display.

So off to the WP we go! It was beautiful. I have loads of pics of the grounds and the beach and the Summer House? I think it's called. I'll have to upload more if anyone is interested.

Anyway, we get over to the WP, and a wedding was just finishing up. The planner Tanis was there. She was really sweet. She and another gentleman planner (I forgot his name) said that Frank's was locked, but that they would let me in for a few minutes. So I went in and snapped all the pics I could get! Here are a few:

OMG!!! This place was sooooo magical! I totally wish I could change to an escape wedding now. I know that I can not afford it at the moment. So my hope is for either 25 yr anniversary, or my DD's wedding! :rotfl: (Hey I'm getting her hooked now!) The kids loved it. It was absolutely gorgeous. The main window with the castle behind it is awesome. I am so glad that we got to look around in there. Here are the pics:
