The wedding ceremony of Dawson/Woodacre

I don't know who this couple is, and I hope they don't mind me posting pics of them. I was hoping that they were a DISer. They were glowing! The bride's dress was breathtaking.

She was so excited to have a princess party!

I found these wands at Wal-Mart, and we gave them out as favors. I added some ribbon. I think they would make great flower girl gifts or be great in kid goodie/welcome bags.

On to the cake:

This was our first go at making and using fondant, and at a mad hatter style cake. We learned a lot! I think that we are going to attempt it for our at home reception. We learned that we either needed to cut the top layer narrower, or to make the bottom bigger. But by that time, it was already set together and we couldn't undo it. :rotfl: Also, the angles were a little wrong. I think that we needed to turn the top layer some more. I'll have to look at more pics to get a better idea.

Overall though, it was a huge hit!

Here we are rolling out the fondant:

I think it looks really good for your 1st try!!! You did good on the fondant work! Great job! And your DD just looks like the happiest little girl in the world!!

That Mad Hatter looks awesome for a first try! I agree that the fondant looks super awesome and I can't believe that was your first time using it! I see what you mean about the angles though, I think that the tops need less of a slant. But kudos overall :cheer2:

Those are the cutest pictures ever!! Your DD is adorable! Thanks for sharing all those other pictures too- just beautiful!! :goodvibes

Thanks! I dragged with us our giant tripod in hope of getting some awesome pics. But b/c the monorails weren't working, my DH litterally had us running out of the park right before Wishes. :rotfl: I was desperate to get pics on the way and kept stopping and snapping as much as possible. I can't wait to go back and spend some time with the tripod!

I also found the easiest and best fondant recipe. Use a bag and 1/2 (16 oz) of mini marshmallows. Microwave them with 4 tbs of water until mushy. Then add in 2lbs of powdered sugar. It was so easy to make and tasted really yummy.

Lord help us b/c I have no idea! The cake tasted awesome. We're still eating it.

She had so much fun. This was the first year that she knew what was going on.

That's so great! Your daughter is a total cutie-pie!!!
Awww... thanks! :cutie:

We had fun. We'll have to make some more for practice, which means we'll have to eat them as well.:rolleyes1

Thanks!!
Such a great job on the cake!! You DD looks soo incredibly happy!!
She had the best birthday ever. Spoiled rotten she is.

So I got my samples in from cards and pockets for our at home reception. We picked out Sapphire blue for the pockets, and fuschia metallic pink for the invitation mats. They look really nice. I'll probably order them in a couple of months.

I also ordered RSVP postcards from VistaPrint with a picture of Cindy's castle on the front. They came out great I must take pictures and post things.

I have been just so busy and overwhelmed lately. Starting tomorrow we are photographing a private school and doing all of their sports and fall pictures. It is a huge job, but I am very excited to do it! I hope I can make enough money off of it to pay for the MK photoshoot. We'll see!

The other thing that I did was get an appointment to alter my dress. I went to the local seamstress at the one bridal shop in town b/c she is really talented and has reasonable prices. She said the alterations are minor on my gown and she can have it done in 2 weeks! :woohoo: So we made my appointment for Nov. 12th in the hopes that I MIGHT be able to lose a little weight by then.

Drew and Dan are going in next week to get their tux pants hemmed. I need Drew's done in time for the big pageant at the end of this month!

That's it for now!

omg! you've been busy while i was gone! what day did you do the kingdom? we arrived the 30th but went to hs for the emh that nite. we didnt hit mk til friday and by then the monorails(btw- this is ds's new fave word!) were running.

happy belated to your big three year old!

We were there on the 30th! Too bad I couldn't have met you somewhere. But we had so many issues that day, it's probably a good thing we didn't. ;)

First, there were all the transportation issues. So it took us 3x's as long to get anywhere. Then, I am a diabetic and I started having major issues with my blood sugar that day. I haven't been insulin dependent in a while, so I didn't bring any insulin with me, but I should have! On top of that, I insisted upon dragging around our tripod, b/c I was determined to get some good pics of the MK at night. But my DH decided we needed to be first out of the kingdom to avoid more transportation issues, so we basically ran out of there. I kept stopping trying to get pics with the tripod, but he kept literally pushing me out! So that means we'll just have to go back.:rotfl:

I hope that you had a great trip!

Here is the sample we picked from cards and pockets. I also ordered postcards from Vistaprint with a Thomas Kinkade picture of the castle on the front and the responses on the back. I thought that these could do double duty for RSVP cards (cheaper postage) and serve as part of the invite.

My idea is to print on vellum and overlay it on top of the post card. I didn't have any vellum yet, but I think that it will look something like this:

Here's a close up of the back. I totally stole this off of another DIS bride.

I'll put ribbon around them and probably use velcro to hold them closed. I decided to do something a little more formal to "one-up" my std's.

the Cinderella Castle by Thomas Kinkade is the most beautiful painting i have ever seen- i went to the Florida Mall this year when on holiday and realised he had a small gallery there and it had that painting in there (he was also doing a PA, but i was ill and couldnt go on that particular day dammit!) I admire his work so much, and i wish wish wish i knew of him when i studied art for the last century of my life ...(okay, my high school and college years which is like 6 years haha!) As he would have been my inspiration for all my projects! I know his paintings arent even that expensive so ......

One day i will have that painting.... One day i will own 'Cinderella's Castle'...One day... .:lovestruc

So of course, you get my approval... because of THAT picture... :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

i love the thomas kincade pics! the invites are beautiful!

we had an amazing time! lorelei danced with mickey her first nite at hs! wow! no worries, we didnt get in til three and then we fianlly got to hs around 6 for emh's. now i knwo what it was so quiet, everyone was caught in transportation issues at the kingdom!

i havent started my trip report, i just finally got them all loaded to fb. that took forever! were looking at maybe next year! oh and jsut this past sunday i got my ring that i wanted!
