This is a question for everybody who has already been on a cruise and decorated their door with magnets:

Is it possible to transport them on a plane? A friend just told me that it is not allowed to bring magnetic items on planes due to safety reasons

Has anybody successfully transported magnets on a plane, and if so, was it in your checked luggage or your hand luggage? It would be a pity if we had to dump all those beautiful magnet sheets in the trash at the airport :scared1:

Thank you!

I have about 100 of them on my carry on so that I could put them on the door first thing instead of waiting for the other bags to come.....

My kids bring magnet play sets on the plane to play with and we have never had an issue.

I was worried about the same thing so I bought a roll of the magnet backing and checked that in my luggage and packed in my carry on the door decorations. Since we flew in the night before that night I put the magnet backings on the door decorations and was ready to go the day we boarded. Also I precut the magnet tape roll into strips so I didn't have to worry about findign scissors.

lol I carry them on the plane everytime in my briefcase

Well okay, it seems the friend who told me that was really misinformed. Thanks to you all for clearing this up for me! :flower3:

You can. I carried all of mine in carry on. I think I put them in my checked bags on the way home. However, if you have a lot they do get heavy, so watch the weight of your luggage.

I've flown with them both in my checked luggage and in my carryon. When you put them in your checked luggage, my bag gets searched by the TSA every time. And I try to be really obvious with them, but keeping them in the Magnet Paper folder them came in, and keeping them in the outside pocket, but they still search the bag, and I've noticed that they've opened the magnet folder as well (weren't so neat in putting them away!)

I haven't had any problems with them in carryon, other than they are heavy to lug around the airport.

My backpack I use for a carryon has a built in file cabinet lol. It also has wheels. I can carry on my magnets without worrying that they will be bent. I have never had a problem with security.
