Goodevening (said with best Bella Lugosi impersonation)

WELL, I READ ALL THE POSTS (today)....no skimeth here. ;)

iluvtink, don't actuall have a recipe for deviled eggs, just throw in any amounts of the following things:
Mayo (or Miracle Whip if you prefer that taste), but not a lot.
VINEAGER
LEMON JUICE
MUSTARD (yellow or grey poupon)
I usually mix it up at the point and take a taste before adding the dry ingredents...it's better to have to add moisture from whichever of the above ingredents is lacking.
Then:
fresh ground black pepper
dill weed
chili powder
paprika (tho sometimes just sprinkled on the top of the completed egg.

I've been know to also use:
Louisianna hot sauce (and re-name them Huevos del Diablo!)
cayanne pepper
garlic salt (I almost always use this unless I know a particular guest doesn't like it)

I also put a little cumin in them once when I was serving them with chili....made the two kind of 'blend' in taste.

I like 'winging' it each time I make them...but mustard/vineager/dill weed are my staple ingredents.

Tigger Fans! I have a friend who is a world traveler and he also says Prague is the most wonderful city on the planet!

RE Color Wheel....you can probably 'release' TiggersPal's...she doesn't DIS very much...it's more me talking about her, than her actually being here!

QOTD: take to a desert island.....TWEEZERS!
QOTD; first Disney trip. Disneyland at age 30!, WDW at age 49!
but, boy, I'm making up for lost time!
QOTD Pizza; Sausage/Mushroom and sometime black olives too!

BTW, those eggs should be decorated with sliced black and/or Spanish olives too!

Danauk have a wonderful trip! Did drop a note at my neighbors this morning, in case the package shows up there....no response from them this evening.

And finally, saw "Ella Enchanted" this afternoon (got off work early). Thought it was quite delightful....and all the 8 year old girls in the audience loved it too! (there was a birthday party going on).

Good morning all,
Well it's nearly time to go DH and one of our friends have gone to the car hire place to pick the car up. DH still has not got his things sorted to pack yet (he really is Mr Lastminute) and has just decided he needs new shoes

I have been busy cleaning the house, I just have to hoover and mop the floors then I am done. Then I just need to take my keys over to my friends house who is looking after the animals for me.

I've caught up on reading all the missed posts, Mad4Mickey I can't believe the nerve of some people. Perhaps you should just tell them you didn't have time to cook either seen as you had to get the house ready for 20 guests and then order take out! I hope you have a big enough table and enough chairs for everyone.

iluvtink the link for the smilies is www.dianafreedman.com

ibouncetoo I hope your package arrives soon, I posted it 2 weeks ago now. I hope your neighbours haven't eaten it

Cheeringmom did you find a house you like? Is it common to own your own home in the USA. It is over here but the housing market is really expensive at the moment. DH and I were lucky as when we finished university the housing market was quite cheap. We bought our house when I was 21 (DH was 22) and we bought it on his salary as although I had a job I had not started it yet so they wouldn't take my wage into account on the loan. In the 6 years since we bought the house it has doubled in value!! The problem is many of my friends who are in their first few years of teaching can't afford to buy yet. We were lucky I guess.

ohanafamily I think it would be best if you posted the swap package to work. They don't mind taking mail for staff and it would save me having to make a trip to the sorting office to collect it.

Oh well I guess I better get on with the hoovering and mopping. I'll call in again before we leave.

I'll leave some croissants, pancakes and orange juice in the kitchen for breakfast

Good morning all! Mad4Mickey I feel your pain. That happened to me last Thanksgiving. I invited my parents, DH's parents, and DH's three sisters--thinking that at least one or two of them wouldn't come. They all said yes. And the older sister informed me that her 19 and 21 year old kids were coming AND bring their boyfriend and girlfriend. Do you know how much young adults eat? Luckily they all brought a crockpot side dish, and I bought a spiral ham at the last minute, because for the first time ever, we ran out of turkey. It was a 22 lb. bird.

Danauk, don't listen to the trolls on this board. Give me a break, and please tell me how English people dress which is so offensive to the troll? Oh and Germans aren't bad, just people who come from countries where they use "ski" at the end of their names.
:teeth: :p ;)

Anybody here anything about the movie, "Johnson Family Vacation"? At first I read that it was rated PG, but this morning I read that it was PG-13. Maybe I'll do a websearch to see what it's all about. And I also read that the new Monsters movie was coming out this week? (No way my boys would want to see Ella Enchanted. Maybe I'll borrow my three year old Goddaughter and go see it. princess: )

Good morning everybody!

Busy Sat. today, as always. Holly has swim lesson at 10:00, Daniel has a baseball scrimmage at 3:00, dinner at in-laws tonight and I need to make some homemade mac&cheese to take over.

I was reading very carefully through all the posts, because I would never SKIM:rolleyes: and this one stopped me in tracks:

Explain, please! I'm still recovering from what I saw on the peeps website. This is just too much. Poor little peeps.

Back to the catch-up reading.

Ok, all caught up.

BichonBarb the website I use to check movies before Daniel goes is www.kidsinmind.com

It rates each movie based on: sex/nudity; violence/gore; and profanity. You know, all the good stuff.;) Your movie scored 4, 4, 5 in order. That's based on 10 as the highest it can receive. You should go there and read some of the reviews. Sometimes I about fall out of my chair, pee my pants and all sorts of stuff over what they tell you. Have you ever noticed that a PG-13 is allowed to have one "F" word? Just a little trivia.

So jealous of Danauk right now. But listening to her getting ready to go reminds me of how much work getting ready and returning from a vacation is. I'm still catching up on laundry. But then again, I'm always trying to do that. Please take lots and lots of pictures to share with us. Other than Cheeringmom, I'm not sure any of us have ever been to Paris Disneyland. How many days are you staying again?

Who else gets a serious case of post-Disney-blues? We watched our home video from our trip last night. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_9_7.gif' border=0></a> We had such a good time. On the drive back from the airport DH and I were talking about how people just don't get why we keep going back, asking aren't we tired of it yet. The truth is we have MORE fun every trip, not less. (Well, except for that Dec. trip.) Every trip we take somewhere else, when measured up against our Disney trips, just doesn't equal up.

Mad4Mickey your family is making me nuts! I can't stand situations like yours. Surely they will call you again before they arrive, right? If so here is what I would say, but I have been told that I am "bossy". I would say "Oh, before you come, could you please stop by the grocery and pick up __________". Like rolls or cans of corn or drinks or plates and napkins, or ANYTHING! How could they say no?

geffric sent you another PM.....

QOTD:Jungle Cruise, daytime or in the dark of night?

Bichon Barb it is fashionable over here to wear knee length boots and skirts. I personally wear knee length skirts with my boots (I have 4 pairs) but girls who are much thinner and have better legs than I wear skirts which are shorter (OK some are more like large belts!! I personally would not wear these but if you can get away with it why not?). I guess some non English folk found that a little wierd. Also it is fashionable to wear tight fitted tops and jeans (if you have the figure for it!) and bright colours and big earings are in fashion too (plus there is the whole 80's revival going on - when I was in London last weekend I saw a girl dressed in a very short skirt, top, high stilettos and legwarmers!!)
Oh by the way, I quite like Germans except for the few who on holiday go out at about 4am to put towels on the sunloungers by the pool (I don't know why but when I was younger and went abroad with my parents it was always the Germans that did that!) but that is a whole other thread I think!

So DH has finally started to pack - well he has thrown some clothes on to the bed and they will hopefully get into the case within the next hour!! Everything else is packed ready to go!!:teeth:

llebrekniT we are staying there 5 nights, but I still don't know which hotel as it is a surprise. I'll take loads of pictures to share when I return.

Have a fun day everyone, I'll call in again before we leave.:wave2:

Danauk, your DH is KILLING me!!!! Pack already! He better get shoes before you go. According to Cheeringmom, they don't sell shoes in Paris. At least I think it was Cheeringmom. Anyway, have a great trip! We will miss you!

Mad4Mickey, I am so sorry about your inconsiderate family. I'd do what llebrekniT suggested & just tell them what they need to bring.

Bichon Barb, have your kids seen Scooby-Doo 2 yet? How about Home on the Range? Or are they too cool to see a cartoon movie?

Good morning everyone.

have fun DANAUK I'm sure you will have a blast. Will pray for nice weather for you. DL Paris shouldn't be too crowded this time of year but cold Burrrr

Poor MAD . Well really nothing you can do about it. Just don't show that this annoys you. You'll be the perfect hostess. I know its a bummer and the people are really rude but maybe call them up and tell them you realize they don't have time to cook but if they could stop by the store and pick up some drinks, cake etc that would be really helpful since it looks like you will not have enough food.
b/c you were not prepared for unexpected guests. Just a thought.

Tinkbackwards sounds like our Sat. Have a good day!!

Thanks OF for the house advice. We will probably not keep the place that long so if we get a decent intrest rate we will just pay monthly. But if we decide to stay, you are right, making double payments helps tremendously.

Looked at two townhomes last night. $350,000 each and they are over 20 yrs old. And our relator says to expect bidding wars. Can you believe it?? Our beautiful NEW home in FL(at least when we bought it 10 yrs ago) was under 100k. So we will probably make a bid on one of them and see what happens. Bids are due Tues night. We should know by Wed.

gotta run. Will pop in later.

hahaha they do but you'll pay around $50 plus for shoes you can get at Kmart for $5. And if you are there on a Sun-esp Easter Sunday, plan on going barefoot!!! We still laugh at our story.

Thanks for the breakfast, Danauk. Getting ready for a big trip and making us breakfast, too? Are you Superwoman or what? Must be those knee high boots!!! :teeth: <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_103.gif' alt='Happy Cyclops' border=0></a> <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_101.gif' alt='Hysterical' border=0></a>

Cheeringmom - Good luck on your house bid. When we moved up to Ohio from Tennessee, the houses were 50% more than we expected! Talk about sticker shock! I hope you get what you want at a decent price.

And ibouncetoo,thanks for the "recipe!" Since I'm no<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/25/25_9_45.gif' alt='Martha' border=0></a> <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/24/24_10_47.gif' alt='Stewart' border=0></a> , I'll probably look up a "regular" recipe for deviled eggs, then add a little of your extra stuff.

llebrekniT - I get the post Disney blues really bad...<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/29/29_1_6.gif' alt='Depressed' border=0></a>... it usually lasts until we are planning a trip again. This time it has been 2 1/2 years... the anti-depressants help a little, at least I haven't taken my axe out of it's hiding place, ohana!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15_1_60.gif' alt='Grim Reaper' border=0></a>

Well, my Easter menu tomorrow includes making: country<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_4_55.gif' alt='Corn' border=0></a>pudding, red-skinned <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_4_56.gif' alt='Potato' border=0></a> salad, blue <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_12_7.gif' alt='Cheese' border=0></a>coleslaw, <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_4_40.gif' alt='Strawberry' border=0></a> cream salad, <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_11_2.gif' alt='Chocolate' border=0></a> trifle and <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_3_1.gif' alt='Bunny' border=0></a>upcakes (actually my girls are making those), I need to go to Kroger and spend a fortune. Mad4Mickey, I wish you lived nearby. I'd just make double and drop it off!

Bichon Barb, my DD15 saw "the Prince and Me" last night. If you want to render your boys comatose and enjoy yourself, take them to see it. Kelley said that half of the boys on dates in the theater were asleep and the other half had glazed over eyes!

I'll check back in later. Have I told y'all lately that I <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/200.gif' alt='Beating' border=0></a>being here? I'm so glad you're stuck with me!!!

Ok folks! Nancypants & my brother Don have done it again!!

So, my mom & dad are having us all over tonight for Easter dinner. My mom (who makes everything from scratch, nothing pre-made other than the rolls) will spend much of the day cooking a fabulous meal for us. There will be a total of 10 adults & 8 children at dinner. Well, Nancypants & Don said "sure, we can come to dinner Saturday. We'll just drop our 3 hellion kids off at your house in the morning so we can go to Keeneland (the horse-racing track) for the afternoon. We'll be back for dinner." AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! My poor mom. How is she supposed to cook dinner for 18 while watching the 3 most out of control children on the planet. Have I mentioned how much they SCREAM?!?!?! She will be on her last nerve by the time we get there tonight for dinner. It is just ridiculous.

OK, vent over....

Carry on....

No offense, but, WHAT UNBELIEVABLy RUDE <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_10_2.gif' alt='Pig 2' border=0></a><a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_10_2.gif' alt='Pig 2' border=0></a>!!!!

Your poor mom is in my prayers!

Deadheadbelle, 1 word... VALIUM! (for them, not you....) I would talk to your mom, and maybe suggest your DF take the boys to go see "The Prince and Me". To get the out of her way. There is also the universal repair tool...Duct Tape!

Mad4Mickey, what about bringing home a "friend" from work that will drive your guests up the wall...I would not do the home-made, fantastic food lunch. I would have a few really nice things like a spiral ham etc, I would go grocery store/Sam's quality on the rest...if you need help pleading with RRBB usually works for me...if you are desperate, PM me and I might just drive out there and help!!! (at least I can go with you to SAM's, I have a card...)

Danauk, I too am jealous; I wanted to take RRBB to DLP this year, but it got too expensive with the Euro/Dollar conversion. Have a great time, and you can let your DH go barefoot... then again, Duct Tape works to repair shoes too.....

Ok here is was I would reccomend..... pushing Nancypants off a 10 story building making sure that there are plenty of rusty nails on the way down so she might get her eyelid caught on one!!! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/3/3_2_10.gif' border=0></a>

Your poor mom. maybe she should tell NP to hire a babysitter that there is no way she can possibly handle the kids and make a fantastic dinner.

Deadheadbelle I agree your brother and Nancypants sound like a real pain!! How rude!

DH came home with somw shoes when he went to pick up the car. The car is huge!! It is a 7 seater but we have taken 3 seats out so we have loads of room. Then after lunch he finally sorted some clothes out to take by which time I couldn't stand it any more so I packed them. So at long last we are ready :teeth:

Right now we are about to have dinner so I thought I would drop some off in the kitchen to share (I guess it's about lunch time for you guys!). So there is chicken satay, potato skins, southern fried chicken and curly fries on the table for you to help yourselves to.

ohanafamily DLP does seem expensive at first glance but then you have to remember that park tickets and breakfast are included in the room price. I'm not sure about the dollar/euro conversion at the moment. In fact I'm not sure about the value of the euro at all. It is a good job my mobile phone has a currency convertor on it so I can work out the value of things!!

:wave2:

Deadheadbelle, I would say tell your mom to take the easy way out and do store-bought, and blame NP. The sad part is tht NP probably thinks she is being nice to your mom by letting them spend time with the kids

Mad4Mickey, think Jewish Passover Food... Gefilte Fish and Matzo's....

RRBB is on the plane now, so I will pick her up in a little over an hour (she will wait for me to get off work...

:bounce:

Danauk, so the Americans are picking on short skirts? This from a country who worships Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears and rappers? This country can't decide if it wants to be puritanical or bootilicious.

llebrekniT, thanks for the link. The was helpful. I know the barnyard movie is a Disney movie, but for some reason, I have absolutely no interest in seeing it. Maybe I'm not giving it a fair chance. I've been a cartoon snob lately. Maybe it was one too many Pokemon or Rugrats movies that put me over the edge. ;)

Deadheadbelle, I am one to avoid confrontation (no really, in real life I hate it ::yes:: ), but I think you and TB's DH should have a word with those two. They are way out of line. I mean, it's supposed to be an Easter dinner, and they have to go to the race track first? Here, I have an idea. Why don't you print out all the responses you have gotten on the subject and hand it over to Nancy-pants and DB for their reading pleasure. :teeth: They probably wouldn't get the hint, huh?

Okay, it is now 12:24 p.m., and I am still in my PJ's. I bought the kids some new summer clothes last week, so I was cleaning out their drawers and closet and throwing away stuff, and putting the new stuff in. (I give it two days and the drawers with be a mess again.) I folded laundry. I ironed. Rob gave the dogs a bath and I brushed them good. Other than that, I've lost hte whole morning. (But at least my babies smell really nice :sunny: .)

Danauk, the Euro and the fact I couldn't get a cheap fare to Paris... they wanted over $1000 each for air tickets...that included advance tickets and all of the discounts. The hotel is reasonable, I have my timeshare trade-out

Have a great trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:bounce:

Oh, forgot the QOTD. I've never been on JC at night time. Actually, I don't think I've ever been to the MK at night--except once to just catch the parade. We must go off season?

Before the kids were born, we almost always went in March, but then again, we probably didn't go to the MK at night back then, because WE DIDN'T HAVE KIDS!!! lol. More likely you'd find us at Epcot perusing the countries for beer.
