TK, advice from the other side (meaning a grandma older than dirt ), do take the break!! It will be so nice and then you can go home and really begin nesting and all that good pre-baby stuff. So much fun!

(Of course, this comes from one who has been doing some pricing on the Disney herself. Disney is good, it's the darn airfare. )

NO KIDDING!!! Oh my word, it's been NUTS lately. I've been trying to price airfare to FL to see my dad. In ONE day, the fare I was looking at doubled.... DH said it was because it was announced that morning that gas prices were going up. So stupid. The ticket prices just seem to be all over the place and it's really giving me fits.

That makes me feel better.
Some things I'm just modifing. Like the garland and candles on my mantle, and the wreath above the fireplace. I pulled the more Christmassy things out of it. Now that area just has more of a winter look about it. That way we can enjoy it a little while longer. I really like being able to still have the lights on at night. Most of the decorations I am ready to take down.

Ok, in all fairness, we still have the icicle lights on our porch. I just like having them on at night, too.

Plus they're stapled up there so taking them down is going to be a real chore....

I know what you mean, I love the room rate deal rigth now, but airfare I'm not. Fortunately, we have some credits from our last flight, and so it does bring it down to reasonable pricing.

Taking down Christmas decorations makes me sad! Once they are down, it means Christmas is really over. I'm in denial.

I was the exact opposite this year. The day after I was ready for all of it to come down. We live in a lovely two bedroom apartment, but when all the decor is out, it can feel really cramped. It is a relief to have our rooms almost back to normal!

Alright, so we went to look at the house. Long story short it was a short sale in really bad condition. And the well water was contimated.

So not something I want to deal with.

I've been online and priced out airfare, the resort package, and I'm waiting to see if my supervisor will give me a Saturday off.

If not, I could always develop some nasty must go to Disney flu.

We have credits we can use towards airfare that makes it reasonable. My mother has an annual pass, so tickets are really only for me, and we'd add dining. With the room rate offer right now, it makes it very reasonable.

And I've been dying to stay at POFQ for a while now, but wouldn't necessarily want to with a family of four. I just hate sharing a double bed.

The beauty of going with two people is getting a bed allllllll to yourself.

WOW. Was this not disclosed to you before even viewing the house?? That's major and I'm surprised if it wasn't. It's really sad how so many foreclosures and short sales are in such tough shape....it's like people are mad at the banks so they just trash the house (I knew a family in our old neighborhood in NH who did just that...they lacked class anyway, but the place was a DUMP by the time they left).

Or solo.... Usually at Disney I'm pushing elbows out of my back half the night. Gee whiz, no wonder I'm usually wide awake and ready for my coffee walk at 6am!!

Actually, the realtor did try to contact me, but I think she sent the info to my work e-mail, not my personal, and so I didn't get it before we went.

This place wasn't trashed per say. It was more like do it yourself home renovations gone wrong. Lots of missing faceplates, no stove, no fridge, shoddy, shoddy workmanship. Just too much work for us.

And honestly, I don't even want the responsibility of a house. I am just freaking out about what I'm going to do with my son three days a week that I work when he'll half day kindergarten. My parents have offered to come here and get him, but if they have the new bean, that's a lot of back and forth for both kids. I just don't know, and I need to stop pressuring myself into figuring it all out now.

Quite frankly, if we're having a boy, I wouldn't even see a reason to move. I see no problem with having them share a room for however long until we can afford a house, if that's what we want, or the apartment complex we live in has beautiful two bedroom townhomes with attached two car garages (that also have additional storage space).

It's so funny because DH and I swore up and down we would never "waste" the money on one of those, but the more I think about buying a home, the more terrifying that level of responsibility is to me. I know a lot of people dream of it, and when I was younger, I used to. Now I am realistic about the amount of time my DH and I have to upkeep a place, and the cost involved. It may just not be feasible for us.

Someday, I vow, I'm going to take a solo trip. When, I don't know, but someday....someday my solo trip will come.

You know, most people would probably say to buy a house. Having "been there, done that," I can honestly say it is a WHOLE other can of worms!! When the hot water heater dies or your roof starts leaking, it's YOUR responsibility! No more just calling the landlord. My in-laws are like that - the ol' "oh but you're not building equity when you rent." In this day and age, however, I have heard it said that people are actually better off renting instead of being tied to a house and it's location. If you need to relocate to find work, you sure don't want the burden of selling right now! I'm making general statements here, but you get the idea. If you guys are happy and content where you live, and can even consider a larger town-home some day, then by all means STAY PUT! Buying a house is VERY stressful....I can't say that's something I'd want to go through while pregnant. Just don't get sucked into buying because it's what you're "supposed" to do.

You know what? Honestly, I welcome your opinion. I know it's "non-traditional," but it's really something to consider.

My sister has sent me numerous articles about people who chose retirment savings over buying a home, and that certainly is a concern for us as well. (Sorry to turn this thread into my personal financial corner! LOL) We do contribute to our retirement funds, but not nearly enough right now. Could we even do that with a house? I just don't know.

I am seriously considering the two bedroom townhome. It would really give us all the space we need, and the thing with renting is that you're only signing that lease for one year. If we got into and said you know what, we want to buy, then we would be able to after a year.

I'm just sort of ready to wash my hands of the whole home buying search, at least until we know the sex of the baby. That will really influence my decision, but it may just influence my decision that we need to find a 3 bedroom apartment or home to rent, you know?

Ugh, I could drive myself crazy, but I just wanted to say thanks for the other side of it.

And I never look at renting as a waste of money. I have a home to live in, right? And quite frankly, I know my husband dreams of a house, but my feeling is, we'll just have to sell it when I want to retire to Disney anyway.

TK, I agree with LegoMom. Buying a home is such a BIG thing to do. Hold off until you know ya'll are really ready. The only thing that concerns me is having a place paid for in our "golden" years.

I actually went while I was pregnant with DS. My mom was in Disney when she was pregnant with me. We like to start em real young.

I was about halfway through my second trimester with DS, with this kiddo, I'd be right at the beginning.

I went to the World many times while pg, then took the little one for her first trip at 4 months. There's no bad time to go to your happy place. And it sounds like you need a little time with your mommy at your happy place. Though if you're looking for unbiased opinions on a Disney trip, don't go to a Disney board. That's like trying to ask Kimmar to be serious. Impossible.

TK--I wanna weigh in on the house buying thing. Save. Save. Save. And then don't buy a house. Buy a piece of property and build. You don't have to worry about disclosure or something not being quite right.
