Ok, it's LegoMom the Outsider here.... NO clue about the TV shows y'all are chatting away about!! Just not my cup of tea.

Anyway I'm just chiming in with my own howdy-do on this fine Friday. I've been shot from guns all week with not much time to DIS.... the horror! :scared1: We were finally busy at work, and then I've been busy at home getting ready for my dad to come tomorrow. Tonight is the usual Friday-night pizza night and I'm just looking forward to sitting down and watching TV. I've got some shows on the DVR to catch up on, or I might pop in a movie.

Speaking of pizza, I ought to get that dough going about now! "See" you guys later, maybe??

Hey Legomom!! Sounds like you have had an interesting week. :scared1: Pizza night sounds yummy! What kind are you making? I hope you enjoy your TV night. I'm bored and tired. To bored to take a nap. But to tired to do anything.:confused3

I'm glad your day went well! Hope all goes well with the contract! September is such a nice time to do Disney.

So, since you are in the business..I'll ask you about countertops. I watch way too much HGTV. We're getting ready to replace our countertops and I am torn between granite tile (can't afford slab) or a high quality laminate like the WilsonArt HD. Are granite countertops still such a big deal or no?

Mary

It still depends on the neighborhood but they are not as big of a deal now. I say always to get what you will enjoy. You will never please every buyer that comes along... actually, you would be very surprised at how much alike most buyers are to the sellers. Weird.

Well it seems I have been away for forever... like the tag fairy visited... someone went to Europe"!!... we had a nice visit from the teen board...I should tell my son to pop on there....and of course the Idol and Survivor talk... I am a Survivor girl and I can't believe that ice cream scooper boy fell for that! I am ready for Natalie to go. She is my most unfavorite this time. She is mean and nasty.:happytv: :happytv:

Have you checked into quartz (Silstone)? I have had it in two homes now and the stuff is wonderful!! There is no maintance. (having to have it sealed.) Well, except for normal cleaning. :thumbsup2 You really can't hurt it.

Yes I think it is very nice.

Omg... working working working. I showed 63 houses in 5 days, working 9-12 hour days and going to bed with a list going in my head. I got 3 new listings up and running, complete with measuring and making flyers and brochures. Also, the end of the year at school is approaching and I am on the PTSO board so there are too many things I am planning and also room mother for one child. I think... not holding my breath... I MIGHT have a day off tomorrow... 1st one since April.

Sounds like the housing market in N.C. is doing well. :thumbsup2

It is not doing too terribly bad. I have a few cash buyers which helps a bit. I also work with a lot of sellers which means sooner or later someone will find a buyer. I hope it is picking up.

Too bad my house isn't down there....:sad2: There is NOTHING moving right now around here....zilch. Except houses going into foreclosure. Then they are re-listed as bank-owned and sit on the market, again...

Things are starting to pick up a little here. Not by much though. We still haven't put ours on the market. We have been told to wait. Everyone buying expects you to give your home away. We aren't doing that.

Oh you aren't kidding!! That's exactly why we pulled ours last month. Just before that, we did get an offer, for $25K less than our asking.... Umm, NOT! We're not in danger of foreclosure and we're not about to lose our shirts. Most of the houses around here are in the price range that we were offered, but we have several features and improvements that justified the higher price (we listed where our realtor suggested, so it wasn't a number we just came up with ourselves). But, buyers just look at those lower priced homes and figure that's where we should be, too. Sorry, but we're not giving away that 12,000 watt stand-by generator and the over-sized, heated 2-car garage!:rotfl: (none of those other homes I mentioned even have a garage!!).

So here we sit. Dreaming of Florida and palm trees....:goodvibes For now!

I don't blame you at all. It's a shame that you can't pack up the generator and garage and take it with you. :rotfl: But I do believe with all my heart that the right time will present itself. :goodvibes

Sounds like a fun Friday night. Though pizza night for me involves getting on pizzahut.com and ordering. Yep, I don't even call. I'm that lazy.

It's the same here...nothing is selling and it's scary. If the market doesn't change in the next year or two, everyone with a mortgage is going to be in trouble because of falling values. :scared:

I didn't know you could go online and order pizza. That's pretty cool.

What are the TV shows that you DVR?
Do you make your own pizza dough and if so, is it quick and easy? I've been thinking about making pizzas at home.

Oh to live in civilization and have that option..... :rotfl: Well, we do have a pizza joint about 6 miles away that I can order on-line, but they're a bit pricey so we save that for special occasions.

Ugh...now THAT is a scary thought.... But the reality for us is, what if the market doesn't pick up in another year or two?? I don't expect it to go back to what it was 2 or 3 years ago, but what if just stagnates where it is now?! :headache:

What are the TV shows that you DVR?
Do you make your own pizza dough and if so, is it quick and easy? I've been thinking about making pizzas at home.

My DVR shows are pretty much Ghost Hunters (Sci-Fi channel), Ax Men (History Channel), or the Alaska Experiment (TLC, I think??). There is also a new one that just started on the History Channel called Tougher in Alaska. That's just my kind of "reality TV" I guess! We are also awaiting the next new season of Ice Road Truckers, due to start in June. Those guys are NUTS!! It makes for some good suspense, though!

Ok, pizza dough: yes, I make my own. I wouldn't call it "quick and easy" but it's not terribly difficult. Two short cuts you can use are to either buy the dough ready-made (but not cooked) at the grocery store (mine is found near the deli) or use a bread machine to do all the work for you (that actually takes longer so you have to plan ahead, and I'm not good at that!). I can PM you my recipe if you're interested. I just prefer doing it myself because then there's nothing "added" to the dough (I'm not a total purist/naturalist but if I don't need chemicals in something, why eat them?!). Also, by making it myself I can vary it if I want, like adding some garlic or other seasonings, making it partly out of wheat flour, putting parmesean cheese in it, etc.

Thanks! I may go with the granite tile. I do like the look. I live in a log home and need some contrasting texture and color from the wood. I'm so sick of looking at wood everywhere! I think granite would go well. We are looking to sell in about 5 years or so when dh can retire from the department. So, I'm hoping we will be in a better market by then.

Mary

LegoMom: Yes I would like the recipe please. Someday I want to give it a try. I don't have a bread machine. I have seen the dough in the deli section too.

I have never heard of Ax Men on the History channel. I have seen Ghost Hunters a few times and would like to see it again. I saw a preview to a show about Alaska that looked good. Maybe it is the show you mentioned. I have watched Ice Road Truckers. I find it fascinating and down right scary.:scared1: Like you said, they are nuts.
