Disneyland 70th speculations and news

Was it crowded?

So many things at 9 pm - WOC, Fantasmic, PTN, Fanastic 4 projections...
Didn’t seem too crowded, most of the people didn’t seem to know it was really happening and went on their way either to attractions or closer to the hub as Paint the Night was ending.

Lots of projections and things to try and check in efforts to not have everyone along Main Street

In addition to the Fantastic Four meet & greet, guests can meet H.E.R.B.I.E. There is also a Fantastic Four projection show on Space Mountain. I believe it starts around 9 pm.

Edit to add: It sounds like the projections on Space Mountain is a couple minute long and will last until September 21.
We saw the movie last night and HERBIE was my favorite character! Too bad they didn't have him to meet earlier in the month when I was there. Oh, well. Great movie, though.

So Herbie in the parks is adorable.

I just wanted to say that merch is plentiful. The only thing I have not found that I was interested in was the note pads.
Supposedly Storyland Boutique in DTD is closing tomorrow to be re-designed and re-stocked. Not sure, but the media event for both Halloween and Holidays was at DLH today so, my guess is that it will change from 70th merchandise to OBB merchandise.

If there is anything you have your eyes on in that store, you might want to purchase it tonight. If you change your mind, you can return it to any Disney owned store in the DLR.

Edit to add that I like that they have HERBIE accessible without waiting in line.

I was so excited when I saw people talking about HERBIE because I thought it was the car. I didn't know there was a robot lol

I am making myself avoid DTD tomorrow thinking the Halloween stuff will debut. I have about zero faith in myself to do that. Bahaha. I have already spent an obscene amount of money on merch- have I mentioned we are in the process of closing on our dream home? So like I need Disney inspired decor right?!!

I was responding to the people about putting it at DCA and explaining why I did not see it as feasible with the holiday stuff (especially the food booths). I personally would have hoped it would stay at Disneyland for the holidays. I don't care if there no garlands so that the parade could run during the holidays.

And I agree that Disney is doing what they want. I will miss it like I always do. And yes, I am lucky to live locally and get to see the parade a lot, but I can understand others wanting to see it on their vacations too - I did not used to live here.

Replying to myself. Take with a grain of salt if you want.

So I saw Paint the Night on Saturday again (actually watched both parades). I got talking with the couple that I was sitting by while waiting for the parade(s). They are both former cast members now (having moved to AZ), but are "extremely close close friends" with Ariel in the parade. Came out specifically to see her in the parade (both of them). They were telling me that part of the reason that both parades cannot be run at the same time is that the "ball" like floats at the end that Minnie, Goofy, and Donald sit on are the bases (compressed down) for the Christmas trees in the Christmas Fantasy parade. And that a few others are also slightly repurposed from holiday for PTN. I did point out that both ran for the 60th but did not really get an answer and they said part of the repurposing is due to storage issues for everything. They are also extremely close friends with Anna in the holiday parade.

Interesting, but I’m really skeptical that any PTN float is used in another parade. When PTN debuted, it was reported the parade would rotate with MSEP between DLR and WDW. So, floats would have to be stand alone.

I went yesterday

Took 30+ mins to meet the Fantastic 4....missed the Thing because every...I mean every person brought something and took 5+ mins to talk to them. If your going to bring an item cool open with it and be done before 5 mins...people who are here once a year might want to meet a character and feel like its selfish to take up this much time. I talk to characters I have videos...most show under one minute is more then enough to have a moment and to talk to them for a few mins then bring out an item you want them to comment on to me is just a bad move

Herbie you can just walk up to very cool would love him to stay after along with the Thing...who can talk as well

The Fantasic 4 light show did not happen from 9:20ish to 10 PM last night, no idea it sucks they have no one to talk to and nothing on the app...so we waited for nothing

I did the Paint the night dinning, great seats but if you can stay to the second show do so...you can get a great spot withing literally 10 mins of the show starting and pay nothing...in fact we might have gotten a better spot the second time...lol.

Check out the Projection show at small world, its very good if you love Disneyland and is empty after the fireworks

The Walt show...closes at 8PM? Thats when I saw the doors shut and even the lobby you could not longer access

Disappointing certainly for those visiting. Fantasmic desperately needs a refurb. Before "the fire" Fantasmic used to close completely in January and February. This year it didn't. I hope they can get the Mickey appearing effect working consistently again.

Actually on the risk of being yelled at here and stoned, F! needs to be retired and replaced with a new nighttime show. The current F! is a weak shell of what it was.

No comment one way or the other. I did laugh with my family during our recent visit because the RDZ cards to get your tickets still have a picture of the dragon!

I somewhat agree

The OG and 2.0 were amazing, the show's flow now sucks its just gone and they throw in as much random "new" as they can.

WOC can be changed for all I care but Fantasmic was made as a stage show and changing the music and other parts greatly affect it and right now it is by far the weakest version we have ever seen.

You'd think they would have learned when they tweeted it in Flordia for no reason and the show was just worst...like you won you made a 10/10 show its good add on things like better tech, bring back Flotsam and Jetsam and make the 3rd Dragon even better those are what I would like to see happen to the show but its Disney

After them making a new nighttime parade that isn't as great as paint the night which is 10 year old...I just dont know if Management is holding back the entertainment team but its always strange to me we had shows like WOC 1...Fantasmic...Aladdin the musical..paint the night...Remember Dreams Come True Fireworks and so on and they just can't top them they try and just....can't

I mean look at the Halloween fireworks those have been around for like 16 years because maybe budget but also...I feel like they have no idea how to top those for Halloween
