Too bad my house isn't down there....:sad2: There is NOTHING moving right now around here....zilch. Except houses going into foreclosure. Then they are re-listed as bank-owned and sit on the market, again...

.

That is terrible. It has got to change soon.

Things are starting to pick up a little here. Not by much though. We still haven't put ours on the market. We have been told to wait. Everyone buying expects you to give your home away. We aren't doing that.

Oh you aren't kidding!! That's exactly why we pulled ours last month. Just before that, we did get an offer, for $25K less than our asking.... Umm, NOT! We're not in danger of foreclosure and we're not about to lose our shirts. Most of the houses around here are in the price range that we were offered, but we have several features and improvements that justified the higher price (we listed where our realtor suggested, so it wasn't a number we just came up with ourselves). But, buyers just look at those lower priced homes and figure that's where we should be, too. Sorry, but we're not giving away that 12,000 watt stand-by generator and the over-sized, heated 2-car garage!:rotfl: (none of those other homes I mentioned even have a garage!!).

So here we sit. Dreaming of Florida and palm trees....:goodvibes For now!

.

And selling for less is going to bring down the values even more. I have seen that around here as well and ONLY advise it to the couple of older sellers I have that owe nothing and need the money to move into assisted living. Everyone else I ask them to hold out if it isn't killing them. What a terrible position to be in.

I didn't know you could go online and order pizza. That's pretty cool.
Oh yeah...I use Domino's and Papa John's all the time...well...at least once a week anyway. I won't order from Pizza Hut after they royally screwed up last time. :snooty:

Ugh...now THAT is a scary thought....But the reality for us is, what if the market doesn't pick up in another year or two?? I don't expect it to go back to what it was 2 or 3 years ago, but what if just stagnates where it is now?! :headache:
I know...I refinanced last year to a better rate and I'm tempted to look into doing it again but a year is a little too soon...don't you think? :confused3

Thought I'd post this here for SadieDog, in case anyone else is interested, too!

In a mixing bowl combine:

2-1/2 cups flour
1 Tbsp. yeast
4 Tbsp. olive/veg. oil
1 tsp. salt
2 cups hot water (ideally it should be around 120 degrees)

(you can half this recipe if you only want to make one pizza; I need 2 for my family of 5!)

Mix 30 seconds on low until well blended. Mix 3 minutes on med. speed.

Add more flour in by hand (2-3 cups total) until dough is pliable but not wet and sticky.

Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 6 minutes (add flour as needed to keep it from sticking to the counter or board).

Divide into two even balls, cover with a towel, and set aside to rise (in the microwave, or in a warm spot in the kitchen - take around 10 minutes).

Meanwhile, preheat oven to 450.

After rising, roll out each ball of dough onto a large cookie sheet or pizza pan. Par-bake for 5 minutes, remove from oven, top with sauce, cheese and favorite toppings, return to oven for 8 - 10 minutes (keep an eye on it to adjust for oven variations; mine bakes in 8 - 10 minutes!).

Enjoy homemade pizza!

p.s. This probably sounds like a lot, but in reality it's only about 45 minutes from starting the dough to eating the pizza!

You people are depressing me with your real estate talk...!! :sad2:

.

Sorry...just trying to be realistic about the future. Let's talk about something cheerful...shall we?

How about gas prices? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Nope, doesn't help.... because we currently live in East Overshoe and are 20 miles from any meaningful shopping services, and I am trying to move, in part, to get OUT of East Overshoe and into some semblance of civization where it doesn't take a tank of gas to run a few errands!!!:rotfl2:

Thanks! I may go with the granite tile. I do like the look. I live in a log home and need some contrasting texture and color from the wood. I'm so sick of looking at wood everywhere! I think granite would go well. We are looking to sell in about 5 years or so when dh can retire from the department. So, I'm hoping we will be in a better market by then.

Mary

I have seen a few homes in Asheville that are log homes and the granite actually looks completely different in them... I guess it is the contrast.

I have something cheerful to talk about, Toy Story Mania! It was such a great ride. We waited about 90 minutes, but I think it was worth it. Once you get inside, the queue is so full of fun stuff, the wait was nothing. Well, not nothing, but not as bad as when we were lined up all the way to the entrance near One Man's Dream (or whatever it's called.) Here are a few pictures:

And here's a video of the interactive Mr. Potato Head, at the end he takes off his ear.

We also saw the Block Party Bash for the first time. It was very cute and some of the kids in the audience get to join in the fun.

Thanks for the pictures. I hope the wait isn't too bad tomorrow morning. When were you there today?

We got there about 10:30. Even if the wait is long, do it. Just hit the restroom first, grab a snack and a drink, and fast pass anything else you want for later.

Once it's open, we plan to FP it the minute we get in the park. We all loved it. But I wouldn't wait that long for anything on a regular basis.

ETA: There is a single rider line. I was told by a person in it that she waited 45 minutes.

Ah OK...thanks for that. I'm surprised they're doing the single rider and FP lines during a preview...but that's cool. I'm meeting a couple of DISers over there in the morning so I'll wait with them the first time and then maybe do the single line later.

The fast pass wasn't open. Just the single rider. I did take a picture of the fast pass area, but it was blurry. :sad2: I just plan to hit that once the ride is in full swing, cause it will be popular. There are no height requirements, so we were able to go as a family. Though DH said it was hard to play the game while making sure our DD2 didn't slide around. The cart twists and turns on its own, and some corners are pretty fast.

Yeah...I'm thinking this will be another "Soarin" type of wait when it opens to be public. You have to do it first thing or not at all.

It's great living here isn't it? I did the AP preview for The Simpsons today and TSM tomorrow.

How was the Simpsons? We don't do Universal. My DD8 is too much of a wimp for most of the rides and my DD2 is too young for them. So even though it's much cheaper than Disney, it wouldn't be worth it for us. We don't even buy Busch Gardens passes, and we're closer to that.

It's where Who Wants to Be a Millionaire was. Behind the building with Little Mermaid. The line of trailers with character meet and greets has been replaced by the building with the scrabble sign that says "Meet the toys". I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm going to guess that'll be the character greet.

It wasn't bad...not as rough as BTTF and still a lot of fun. Here's a link to my TR if you want to read it:

It sounds like your family is a few years away from enjoying Universal. The Simpsons is doing for the Studios what TSM will do for DHS. I'm curious to see how the attendance goes after HP opens at IOA.
