My daughter is in Kingston ON, and we'd like to do a Mom and daughter trip in August. We haven't been to this airport (Syracuse), and I am not familiar with the various airlines: JetBlue, Delta, USAirways, Continental, NorthWest Is one airline a better choice than others?

Does JetBlue do email specials ala Southwest, Spiritair, AirTran?
What about refunds if the cost of the flights go down?
What about the stopover at JFK for JetBlue? Difficult for the uninitiated?

Any and all suggestions, reassurances would be welcome. If we can't get a decent flight, we'll be driving.

Thank you for ANY and ALL information that you can give!

Hi Debbie,

We fly from Syracuse all of the time. August is usually a good time for decent fares. You can expect to pay around $200 R/T for SYR to MCO. Go to www.kayak.com and enter your dates and the above airport codes. You can select to search nearby airports, or just stick with SYR and MCO.

Jetblue is the only airline out of SYR that has a direct flight to MCO. They fly once a day (usually in the afternoon going down, and I believe the morning coming back.) Connections at JFK have never been a problem, of course until the problems in Feb. with the nor'easter, but that really shouldn't be a problem in August!;)

We are flying Delta at the end of August for $233. Connecting at JFK southbound and ATL northbound. The only reason I chose Delta was because we have free flights coming to us (another nor'easter story for another day!)

We have flown just about all of them out of Syracuse. I like to avoid United and Northwest because they often fly you to their hubs (Chicago and Detroit respectively) and it's really out of the way when you're going to Florida.

Best wishes on getting your flights arranged. Have you considered Rochester (ROC)? They have direct flights on AirTran and JetBlue. AirTran usually has the best rates too. This is the other airport we fly out of frequently (three times this year alone).

I love Jetblue's direct from Syracuse.

If you book now, you should be able to get $99 each way--especially if you fly mid week. I think the August flights leave Syracuse around 4:00 pm, and the flights coming back leave MCO around 1:00 pm.

Good luck.
