How much of a pain is this? I was thinking of doing our last night at a deluxe for a little surprise for everyone! Is this a huge pain? I think it would be a kick for the kids to stay at the Poly... or WL. What do you think?

We did this a few years ago and I swore I would never do it again. We checked into the All Stars, then moved over to OKW.

I know that alot of people do this without a problem, but I thought it was an incredible pain in the butt to pack, then unpack, then pack again. Even though you don't unpack EVERYTHING, you still have to do it.

Also, it made me feel as though I gave up valuable park or pool time while transporting from one resort to another.

Going forward, we will pick one resort and stay there until our vacation is done.

not a pain at all! we changed from pors to the bc one trip and we had a TON of luggage. bell services handled it all for us, no problem. :D

As long as you have an understanding husband, mine won't allow me to do this, and I really would love to. We're going for 10 days next year and I wanted to split the stay between OKW and BWI, now he is making me choose only one....so far it's OKW, but I have really been checking out BWI so I may be changing. Plus we are also doing a 4 night bahamas cruise, which means a third session of unpacking/packing...but this would not bother ME in the least.

If you plan it right, its really no problem. The resorts can take care of the luggage...but if its only one night, I'd just pack an overnight bag for that particular night while I'm packing up from the other resort. We just generally leave the rest of the luggage in the car....but if you don't have a car, its still not a big deal...have the resort handle it. There is still no reason to be doing major packing/unpacking repeatedly though....why would you unpack what you're not going to use for that one night?

The only thing I've found a hassle in changing resorts is that you're roomless for much of the day....from whenever you check out of your first resort until your room is available at the second. But if you're at the parks its not much of an issue either.

Have fun! We've often added one day at the end of a stay to try something different. The only thing I don't like is that one day never seems like enough!

We've done this a couple of times, but since we have a rental car we just load up our car and move on over. I find it's easier to pack one general bag for everyone (toiletries, shoes, pillows for the kids) and then a separate bag for each hotel. That way there's not as much of a mess to pack up, and not as much to carry in and out of the hotel (but only if you have a car).

We did this a few times on our last trip...All Star Music to Port Orleans Riverside to Dolphin to DCL and back to PO Riverside. This year, it's PO Riverside to DCL to All Star Music to Pop Century. Yes, it's a lot of packing, but I feel like I'm having a new vacation each time I move!

It's also hard if you fall in love with the first resort. We split a stay at AKL and WL. WL was our favorite, we had stayed there the 2xs prior. We spend the 1st 3 nites at AKL and didn't want to go to WL..there was no availability at AKL in a savannah view and we didn't want a standard so we moved to WL.....It's not that WL isn't wonderful but we spent the next 4 nites discussing how we missed AKL....needless to say we are staying all 7 at AKL this time.

It is only for the last night.... we have 7 nights at ASMU and the 8th at ???? Any suggestions?

Mermaid - Is it really the "kids" that would get a kick out of staying at a luxury resort? LOL

Just kidding;) Enjoy yourselves.:D

LOL! Okay you caught me!;) Actually my dd is a real "fish" and would like an awesome pool slide. She wants Coronado Springs... what do you all think about the different slides at the different pools?

I just returned from a non-Disney trip - 3 nights in one city; 2 nights in another; 3 nights in another. I'm the mother in a family of 5 people. I will tell you that it was a PAIN. It took at least an hour to unpack each time and more like 2 hours to pack again...of course, 95% of the work was done by ME.

Your saving grace would be that it would be for only one night. So you could bring one bag that would be the "last night" bag, with only jammies, swim suits, toiletries and one outfit for everyone. The rest of the luggage could stay packed in the closet and you would just have to unpack only one bag.

for our upcoming trip, we have 6 nights booked at the Dolphin, followed by 3 nights at the Contemporary. I don't think we could ever choose the MK area over the Epcot area, we love the atmosphere at both! Our switch day, I plan to ask for a late check-out from the Dolphin. I'm entitled to 4pmas SPG Gold, but I don't think I will need that long....that day is planned as an off park day. the late check out will allow us to sleep in, enjoy a nice breakfast and maybe take a swim before moving to the CR. the check in time is 3pm there, so I hope we can time it "just right" :) if not, we'll get snack and hang out at the resort, not a biggie.

I don't know if I would do it for just one night, though. I'm not sure if I would feel like I am getting my money's worth, unless you check in really early and have a separate pool bag.

I just did this for a trip to Washington, DC...plan was one travel night, 4 nights, 2 nights, then a travel night. I was mentally prepared for that, LOL....our plans changed & we ended up 1 night, 1 night, 3 nights (homeless for 3 hours with 3 kids, ugh!), 2 nights, and then 1 night. Thank God I didn't overpack this time, LOL....it was a real challenge!

Anyway, to answer the OP question...for one night? I don't know if I would switch to a deluxe (mainly for the $$), I would consider the S/D or a WDW moderate, though.

good luck!
