Swimming in January

I'm guessing that the FW pools are not open year round. Is it possible for someone staying at the Fort to use the pools at other Disney resort hotels? (Of course, I'm assuming they have indoor pools.)

January is only 3 months away now :) I just bought a microwave/convection oven for my pop up camper, so we can have biscuits and gravy for b'fast!

I could be wrong but I have never seen an Indoor pool, at FW. I have never seen one at Disney at all but I have not looked very hard..:sail:

The pools are open year round and my kids have been swimming many times in DEC/JAN. they are heated so if you can manage the trip to and from the pool its quite nice even on a cooler day

There are noindoor pools thatI'm aware ofin any WDW resort. Also, pool hopping is discouraged. Too bad!

Jan. is a great time to hit the FW pool. Just pick a day with plenty of sun and little wind. You'll find lots of us down there catching some sun. Last Jan. we were lounging in some chairs with our bathing suits on and a woman walked by all bundled up in sweats and asked where we were from, Alaska? ( OK maybe it was only about 60 out but the sun sure felt good to us!) The water is heated to around 80 degrees.....you should managed to get some pool time in.:goodvibes

You know, some times it is actually very warm in January. You might have a few 80 degree days. But regardless people swim all year round regardless of the temps. I can not tell you how many times I was wearing a ski jacket and others were frockling in the pool. It's heated so...why not!

My kids are part of that "Swim no matter what" crowd. I sat all bundled up watching them last January and hoping that they wouldn't go under so that I wouldn't have to dive in and get them. LOL The only bad part was leaving my camera by the pool. :( But, all the pools are open, guards are there etc. no matter what the temp.

Thought I'd take the opportunity to say Thanks for the replies, and bump this up in case its relevant for others.

I took a break from obsessing over Dis for awhile, but now that Jan is around the corner, I need to reinvest!

Just checked the weather for our New Years trip about every day highs in the mid 80's lows in the 60's. Great time to camp and swim. Hope his helps:thumbsup2

You may, however, experience "shrinkage" ala George Costanza. ("I WAS IN THE POOL! I WAS IN THE POOL!)

The water is still way too cold in Jan for me!!! Been in this heat too long the water has to be at least in the 80's LOL

That's disgusting! They should have been kicked out and arrested.

:lmao:

If more people were "frockling" in pools the world would be a better place, I think.

Last January it was HOT! We swam plenty! Last week, we had a day or two that were just plain cold. We didn't swim those days (frolicking probably would have helped). We did get some swimming in other days, though. Our one night at CR we swam at that pool and used the hot tub. Very nice while sipping Mai Tais. One day, our CM pal got us into the WL pool~not technically pool hopping. One day we swam at the fort. Have to say, Meadow pool is a little lacking after CR and WL. I've heard rumors that a new pool is in the planning stages. Any word on that? Deb, what have your undeclared sources have to say about this?
