Sweet Tea and Sundrop

What bugs us is to order sweet tea and get a big slice of lemon with it! Sweet tea doesn't need anything else with it!!!

Halleluijah! Somebody has some sense!!!! :cheer2: And you don't "infuse" it with fruit, either!

Sundrop had adds a while back stating they were going to expand to other states. :sunny: beware it is addictive people.

I'm in VA & get so excited each time we drive far enough south to get sweetened tea!! :goodvibes

Sundrop has been available in northern Wis since I was young. I am in my 50s now, so it's been here a long time. I always enjoyed the taste! :flower:

My DH is from Fredericksburg. The only place I could fine it was at a I-Hop way out on the edge of town.

I'm a first generation yankee (family in Mississippi) and I love sweet tea. I just thought it was weird that since Florida is south of the Mason Dixon, they didn't have sweet tea. :confused3

I just married a Concord Man (originally from Kannapolis) in May. We live in Kings Mountain now but perhaps you could better explain a drink he has been trying to describe called a "Witch Doctor". I guess it's a Concord or Kannapolis original. Is there a place called Whataburger or Wallaburger in Concord? That might be where he said they served it. He said something about a Pickle and Dr. Pepper. This is just too hard for me to imagine. If you are familiar with the drink could you please explain it to me. In the mean time just fix me a Cherry-Lemon Sundrop if we are going for "Mixed" drinks otherwise a Sundrop will be fine. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: a witch doctor? oh my gosh! I haven't heard of those since I was a kid. I had friends that drank them but never me. I think it is a mix of a little of everything they have .. like Coke, Sundrop, Dr. P, etc .. with a pickle. I am sure they would sell them at the What~A~Burger. I know they sell alot of Cherry Lemon Sundrop. There are What~A~Burgers in Concord, Kannapolis, Mt Pleasant .. and maybe a few more towns.

I live in Georgia and cannot get Sundrop!!! It bites!!! I have to go visit my grandparents to get a Black's Bar-B-Que and a cherry lemon Sundrop!! So, no, I don't miss it @ WDW...I miss it ALL the time!!!

Man, ya'll make me miss my home town! I want to move to Mooresville, but DH was born and raised in GA and will not consider leaving!

I found a place on the web where you can order them. Do a google search for hometown favorites. The price looks high but i might try one next time i order from them.

The greatest day of my life was the day they started selling Sundrop in Massachusetts :cool1: For a couple of weeks, I would buy 3 or 4 bottles at a time because I didn't know if they would continue to sell it up north so I made sure to stock up :rotfl:

Well, at least Gastonia got something right! Hey, angelkisses, I see you live in Kings Mountain. We're practically next door neighbors! I'm between Bessemer City and Cherryville.

Hi Karen

It's good to meet you online. I can't believe how many people from this area have chimed in on this Sundrop/Sweet Tea thread. I was a member of a cruise board and since there were alot of people in this area we decided to start meeting for dinner every other month to talk about cruisin'. It was a lot of fun ....perhaps we need to think about starting a Carolina thread and do the same when things start getting back to normal around here. Of course we would have to discuss Disney, Sundrops, and Sweet Tea!!!!

I will think about you tomorrow. I will be in Gastonia all day and your post has me craving Blacks BBQ & Cherry Lemon Sun-Drop. I don't have plans for lunch so I think might just stop by Blacks for a bite to eat.

What an interesting website. I was just thinking perhaps I should sell Sundrop on eBay. :rotfl2:

This has been a fun thread to read. Great advertising for Sundrop!

Being a midwestern girl, I just don't understand. Why can't you just add some sugar to the ice tea?? :confused3

Please be gentle ...

Maggie :wave2:

North Carolina native here...

We found great sweet tea at the Liberty Tree Tavern on our last trip to Disney World. And we ended up eating there twice before we left so that we could get sweet tea. LOL

It isn't the gross raspberry kind...it is just like the kind we have at home.

YUMMY...we will be eating there a lot in January. It is a shame that more resaurants don't serve sweet tea at WDW.

Oh lordy Maggie....honey you're in for it now, bless your heart :rotfl: JK!

Once the tea is cold, even if there's no ice in it, the sugar pretty much takes eons to dissolve. I guess you *could* use Splenda or Sweet-n-Low or Equal, but it's just not the same... Southern sweet tea ain't (Oh yes, I just said AIN'T!) right unless you use a ton of sugar and make it the consistency of pancake syrup. As far as the midwest goes, I don't think anyone there understands. I have friends in Beatrice, NE who make me ask for sweat tea any time we go out when I visit just to get a rise from the waitstaff....they almost always look absolutely horrified when I talk about sugar in tea. That, and my accent throws em' a little.

Since all you North Carolina folks missed your sweet tea at WDW I just felt the need to chime in. I was pleasantly surprised at finding unsweetened tea at WDW. I can't stand iced tea which has been sweetened but I sure can drink a ton of unsweet. :) I was in heaven.

GASP! :earseek: Heretic!!!

Just kidding!
:rotfl:

I have family members who insist on sweet tea but it tastes like syrup to me. Whenever they're coming for dinner I have to make both. If they show up unexpected I make a syrup using sugar and hot water to sweeten the tea. They agree just using sugar doesn't make it sweet enough. That would be something easy to do at WDW.
