It seems that when my college pushed its Spring Break back a week and I changed my Dolphin ressie, I got switched to Swan. I just discovered this while making a small change in the ressie. Both hotels are sold out for that week so I just accepted the change. Will all the stuff, internet access, resort fee, health club etc., that applied to Dolphin apply to Swan? Is there any significant difference? I retain the $129 Teacher's rate so I guess we'll be experiencing something new!

I've stayed at both and didn't notice and large difference.. The rate sounds awesome.....

Bill,

We stayed at the Swan last summer, and I would go back to the Swan in an instant. Both resorts share the same amenities and the distance between the two is a simple walkway. Example, the laundry is located in the Dolphin, but a two minute walk from the Swan will get you there. Also, the Swan is smaller, which, to me, made it more intimate.

I live in Pennsylvana, too. Do you teach at Wilkes University? I attended some classes there.

Have fun.

Kathy5,

I teach at College Misericordia in Dallas, Pa., sort of a Wilkes-Barre suburb. The blonde with the hat is my eldest daughter Megan who graduated from Wilkes. Liz, my younger daughter behind me graduated from Kings. Thanks for the encouraging words, you too, zurgswife.

There are really only a couple of differences: 1) Tubbies' is at Dolphin, no 24 restaurant at Swan and Tubbies' is the only fast food at the two. 2) Swan is laid out a little differently. There is only one wing on each side of the lobby at Swan. There are rooms along all corridors. What this means really is shorter walk to your room...big factor at the end of the day. Also, all rooms at Swan have been renovated and the heavenly beds are just that. Most rooms at Dolphin have them now, but not quite all of them. The lobby is more intimate at the Swan. That's all I can think of. We stayed at Dolphin three times and first time at Swan in November. We like it so much we are staying at Swan over President's week in February.

I remember reading somewhere that the Swan has a sink outside the bathroom and the Dolphin has the sink inside the bathroom or was it that the Swan had 2 sinks?

I've only stayed at the Dolphin, but I know that we only had one sink and it was outside the bathroom. Maybe the Swan has two?! I'm not sure.

As far as beds, the Swan has true queen beds, while the Dolphin has what people describe as "big" double beds. While we didn't notice any difference in size from our queen bed at home, I've read many posts about this, so evidently there are people who can tell a difference.

I prefer the 'intimate' feel of the Swan also - can you call a resort with over 800 rooms intimate?:p

We went to Tubbi's often and the laundry a few times (10 days there) and it is just a couple of minutes over - it took a bit the first time when we didn't know where we were going but you will be past that already! I told my son I bet it took the people in the far end Dolphin rooms longer to get to Tubbi's than it took us from the 12th floor of the Swan!

My understanding on bed size is that the Dolphin has oversized doubles & they are actually only 1 or 2 inches smaller than the queens at the Swan. So bed size should run very close to the same either place.

Our room at the Swan had a Hollywood bath - (there is a separate sink area outside of the bathroom also) - by where you hang your clothes. It was great when DS was locked in the b-room on the phone - we could still use the sink. However, we did have to discover that the elevators are very FAST to get you down to the b-room in the lobby - there are not 2 toilets!!!

Bill,

One thing that hasn't been mentioned, although it is minor, is I believe there is about a 20 sq ft difference in room size in favor of the Dolphin for standard rooms. At least, that's what I've read. Also, the Swan has an automatic air conditioning system which is motion activated, and I'm not sure if it's at the Dolphin too. Some folks have reported trouble during the night -- it shuts off when they sleep. Finally, I believe the Grotto pool is farther from the Swan than the Dolphin.

We ate at Kimonos in the Swan last March and loved it. The karaoke was a riot.

We'll be at the Swan in March too. We chose it for the smaller size and completed renovations.

Have fun!

I have stayed at both and love both for various reasons but one thing I really enjoyed while staying at the Swan was sitting on my balcony at night and enjoying the view of the Dolphin. The hotels were full when I was there too so the Dolphin was mostly all lit and was truely beautiful to just sit and look at. Of course you would have to have a room facing the Dolphin to do this. I don't know how much bed space you need but on the ends of those wings there are studios with a king bed and a queen pull out sofa. These are 500 sq.feet....very roomy and the price was about the same as a resortview/wbalcony.

We have stayed at both Swan and Dolphin and I would say we prefer the Swan. If you had small kids, I might say Dolphin, but otherwise, the Swan is a little more adult and with the small lobby, it does seem intimate. I think the pool is maybe a bit less crowded as well, and you are a little closer to the restaurants and activity on the Boardwalk (and the walk to MGM). I guess in my opinion, either way you can't go wrong...especially with that rate. Have a great time!
