We have booked a room at the Swan for our August vacation. However, I just came across the thread for $129/night discount. We have booked a resort view w/balcony and I called the Swan for information on this deal. Forgive me if this is a "no brainer" :confused3, but for those of you who have stayed at the Swan/Dolphin in a room w/balcony...do you think that a plain resort view room is as good as a balcony? In other words, do you know exactly what these rooms face? Would any of you change?

To answer your question...... YES!! In a heartbeat!! You'll still get a lovely room with a good view (lake view most likely). I don't know what you're paying for the balcony, but unless you plan to spend most of your vacation in your room, I think the cost difference will be well worth it!! :thumbsup2

Thanks. Our rate was something like $184/night; I booked it through Dreams Unlimited and it was originally $210/night. Bob (Dreams Unlimited) booked me in at the lower rate. Anyway, I just spoke w/my SO and we've decided to go w/room w/out balcony. After all, we're only going to sleep there

OK...I just went and changed my room to lake view. My "snobby" SO said that he just doesn't want to have to look at a parking lot...what a character.

FYI ~ that $129.00 rate includes a free upgrade which is a "limited" lake view?

We have stayed in the "limited lake view" room and it's fine..I wouldn't pay the extra $$$. Once we got the view at the Swan and once at the Dolphin. Both times we were in the middle sections of the resort vs. a wing. At the Swan we were looking straight on at the Dolphin. We could see the Friendship Landing and a portion of Crescent Lake. Same thing at the Dolphin, we looked straight on at the Swan and we could see the boat landing and a portion of Crescent Lake. It was nice...as I slept at night I could see a big Swan out of my window.

yes, go with the 129/limited lake view. It is just fine, and who knows, you may even get a comp upgrade from that! Join SPG, or if already a member be sure to mention it at check in. Disney magic is alive and well at the Swan/Dolphin too! Christmas of '04 we were upgraded to a MGM balconey view, paying the 129 rate deal...we are SPG Gold, and while it is never a guarantee, what a beautiful surprise it was! Turn down service, great view...unreal at that price. The only thing we found to bewithin consideration as a (small and picky) negative, is that where we were for the fab view, did mean a lot of interior walking/elevator riding. My kids loved it, but DH was tired...ready to be in a room right off the lobby or use a :moped: :teeth: . I don't think you will regret the view change at all, w/tax the room is $143.84...GRAB IT!

I don't know much about this rate, but I was wondering if it's available during April 7-14th for our friends.

otherwise, I booked a Old key West room for them for all but one of the nights in a studio.

I'm going to call CRO now.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

*Rates start at $129.00 per room, per night, July 28 - September 30, 2006 and are subject to availability. One category room upgrade based on rate plan availability. Must be booked by February 28, 2006. Taxes and gratuities not included. Not valid with any other special offers, promotions, or for existing reservations or groups.

Stayed in Sept. 05. Had a balconey and couldn't use it because it was so muggy/rainy. The balconies are very small, and I wouldn't pay more for one. Go with the $129, although we only paid $99 last September. Keep an eye out for a better deal and rebook.
