SWA credits and how to get them?

I've never done alot of frequent traveling in the past but now I'm seriously thinking of flying 2-3 times a year. I've heard about SWA issuing credits when a rate goes down but I really have no clue about how you get the credits or what they can be used for.

So if I book a flight the day the dates are released for $100.00 and later it gets reduced to $75.00 how do I get the credit?

Then if it further reduces to $60.00 can I get another credit too? How many times can I keep getting credits?

Can I use those credits just like cash for any future flight I want or are there limitations on their use? Do the credits expire?

Thanks. :)

To get the credit, just go to SW website's "Travel Center" click on change air reservation, enter your res. # . It will ask for your "new" travel date/time which can still be the same as your old one. Just enter flight you want and save your res. #. They call the credit Ticketless Travel Funds. They are stored as your original res. # and they expire 1 yr. from the original purchase date but you can call for a 6 month extension. You can keep rebooking w/o charge as many times as you like! :goodvibes

When applying travel funds to a new ressie, you can enter up to 4 res.#'s to apply old credit to new purchases. You don't have to apply them to the original traveller either. Example: You can pool a whole family's credits toward a ticket for Grandma.

It's easier to snag credits if you book 2 one-ways rather than 1 round trip. If your departing flight gets Dinged but your returning flight is sold out, you can still get a credit for your departing flight without messing with your return.

This is why I love Southwest!!:cloud9:

BTW, Baltimore gets great Dings so be sure to download Ding to your computer. We've flown out of Baltimore from NJ just for their awesome Dings. Still way better than driving the whole way!:cool1:

Thanks! That sounds so easy since you can do it online. Great advice about the 2 one way tickets too!

I've registered for Rapid Rewards. I've got DING downloaded. Now I'm free to move around the country. :lmao:

I would call SW also because a few times I was able to get a cheaper price on the phone then the website. You can also get RR points for car rentals and hotel stays.
