SW is open. Pricing for BWI to MCO in March (weekends) over 250 each way. We might drive at this rate.

I was just looking at those rates too. It would be about $500/round trip per person for us to fly out of BWI. I checked DCA and Pittsburgh and they are both higher. I'm not sure what we will do if those don't drop. We'll either have to drive or hope another airline comes in cheaper.

I was booking flights out of BWI this morning...

I managed to snag flights for $405 each. We are leaving from BWI going to MCO for a week at the parks. But, then we are taking our rental car down to Miami for 5 days on the Wonder. So, we're flying back to BWI from FLL. The FLL leg of our trip was almost $100 cheaper???

There are five of us so that would be over $2k for just flights. Luckily, we have been hoarding our miles and had just enough to cover all of our flights. If we didn't have points, we'd def be driving.

I realize it's Spring Break and all, but WOW! The last time we flew, I'm thinking it was about $200/pp. That was at Thanksgiving time, so it was a holiday period.

Shocked at how high these opened up!

Hopefully, they will drop over the next few months! pixiedust:

Good luck y'all!

Seems those cheap bwi fares is a thing of the past. I booked my October one way out of BWI for oct. Thought maybe it might go down but it seems that doesn't happen. Flying home on JetBlue to dca. Seems I have no loyally anymore. In November we are flying down for a cruise. This time out of iad. Frontier down and united home. Frontier is new low carrier just starting out of Dulles. Not crazy about one flight a day, but giving it a chance esp since I bought insurance for that trip.

I was just hopping on the DIS to see if anyone else felt the same way I did. Flights out of MCI are high as well. I guess it's been awhile since we've gone, but even over spring break we've gotten great rates in the past. Right now it's at least double the highest we've paid. Fingers crossed that prices come down for everyone!

Flight down from DAL wasn't horrible, but the flight back was awful! It brought the total to almost $2000 for 4 round trip! Uh...as much as I really wanted to fly SW, I think I'll need to shop around

Flights out of CAK (Akron-Canton) is higher too. This is our first trip over spring break. We are looking to leave day before Easter (April 4) our DS's band is performing at MK so that is when we have to go.

If we book the trip now with points and the flights go down can I rebook and get the points credit to my account?

Thanks

Yes the credits go back into your RR account. My advice is to book one way. If you book round trip both to and from will need to be changed and you might not want to change one of them (could cost more points).

What happens to your early bird if you change your flight?

Ours were super expensive too -- lots of flights to choose from though, which is good especially since JetBlue only has one nonstop flight.

BUF-MCO $240 for one way.

Luckily I snagged JetBlue for our flight down the second fares were released, so I got $159 for each of us (not great, but we used points so we're happy). So this morning I only needed SW flight home and boy they are much higher than JetBlue started with, but again thankfully we had points to use that helped quite a lot.

Now to pray for a good Disney resort deal!;)

Thanks for posting! We are driving home from Disney now. But was able to get a Phl to MCO flight Easter Monday nonstop for $120 pp. Thrilled at that price! Of course we have to wait for return flights.

I pretty sure I've changed (changed not cancelled) a flight online to get points back after the flight cost went down and the EB stayed. And I still got an A boarding. Thats not to say the EB went to the bottom of the list after the change. I would call first and ask SWA.

OUCH! We booked spring break flights this morning. We fly out of Midway or Milwaukee. Our plan was the 19-28th. I was online right when they opened up and every single Thursday flight was over $300 (pp one way). The ones that would have worked for us were $315. The return flight was $229. That's still high for them but didn't seem that bad after the $315 sticker shock!

We decided to book an early Friday flight for $146 (the rest of the Friday flights were over $300 also - almost seemed like this one was a mistake). I'll watch to see if Thursday flight prices drop, but otherwise we're leaving on Friday. (It's much more fun to add a day to a vacation because of flights then to remove one!!)

Just for kicks, I checked Wednesday. Those were all under $200 with a handful of flights for $133. If my son didn't have exams on Thursday, we would have left Wednesday (darn school getting in the way again! ;)). I just can't get over the big hike for Thurs and Friday. Wow!

We paid 398.20 pp round trip. I guess that's still better than the rates out of Ohare (checked that as I was checking SW and those were over 600pp).

Yikes! I love our spring break trips, but sure hate paying these rates!

Thanks, I was actually thinking of going a day early, so was wondering if you lost the EB. We haven't flown SW since they took their nonstops out of Dulles.

Just came here to see if this was the universal experience.

Jumped online right at 6am this morning, refreshed until the dates updated...and then $313/per person one way on 4/3/15 from Islip-McArthur on Long Island for every flight in Wanna Get Away category! Base fare is as low as $113.

I jumped on a $197/per person the next day, which is the day before Easter, that is a horrible mid-day flight so its a wasted day, and we'll have to reconfigure our trip somehow (was planning on a Fri-to-Fri, with full arrival and departure days). Just hoping they come down eventually and I'll use the credit towards to the "back home" flight, which according tot he website won't be released until October now.

Ugh. First time I've actually been prepared to book something so far out and got no reward from it anyway. Got the same $313/person rate last spring break and we booked that with like 60 days to go.

If you are booking on points - just book. Early bird stays with you as long as you change and don't cancel/rebook. You can also just change one leg of a RT. When you enter your info you can click one or both legs that you want to change to take advantage of better pricing in one direction.

This won't apply to points as you always get different reservation numbers, but when paying cash I have also called and had them split us into different confirm numbers. Sometimes there is only one seat at a new cheaper date so I can rebook that one while it wouldn't have been available searching for two people

Hope some of this helps and I too am annoyed at the higher prices on SW.

So I am not the only one who woke up this morning and thought SW made some mistake. Nashville to Orlando has never been this much. For a party of 8 it really hurt. On the bright side the countdown has began 7 March - 15 March. Making ADRs in 13 days, just may have to drop one or two because of SW. Hakuna matata

I'm amazed that many of you thought airlines released low inventory prices with schedule extensions anymore. There is no need to do that anymore as the competition has all been cut in half by mergers and liquidations.

We have the same dates! Also got up this morning and was dismayed at SW prices. Thought I would be able to get something lower. However, was able to save $300 for 2 tickets by flying out of Austin. Have a good trip!
