When lower fares are released and you call to make adjustments, can you get the amount put back on your CC or do you have to take it as a future flying credit?

I think that depends on the type of fare you originally booked. When I made changes to our flights last year we were issued a credit that needed to be used within one year. The year started from the date of purchase not date of travel.

It also can depend on the agent you end up speaking to. I have had pretty good luck this year with getting the credit put back on my cc, even though the original ticket was a "restricted fare".

Try calling the regular SWA customer service number. Don't be afraid to call back if you aren't successful the first time.

I was told last year (don't know if it still works this way) that it would be a travel credit. But once the new trip was taken, I could call back and request a refund check. I ended up just using the credit for a different trip. So I am not sure if that would have worked.

right, if you book now and then later SW has a better deal for the flight you can call and they will credit you the difference? If this is true I never knew they did that, is this right????

I just did this last week. I had the agent cancel my reservations and it immediately went into a ticketless travel fund that I could use to book the cheaper DING! fare. I stil have $93 available in that fund to use for a future flight.
