Survivor-Tocantins***Winner is named in thread***

I was thinking about JT, choosing not to vote for Coach. Gives JT one more vote from the jury in the end.

I like JT a lot, think he's played a great game, so he'd have my vote in the end. I like Taj, too, but I think she's too dependent on Stephen and JT. But, she may make the final 2 because she's considered less threatening.

Overall, it's been very interesting how this season has played out. Many power players taken out early.

Wasn't it funny, how Coach goes from "Heap big warrior manly man" to "sickly asthmatic with ruptured discs and bad knees" when he thinks it will help him. And the whole staged crap at the end of the challenge--what a crock!

I can't keep it in anymore...Coach is so full of crap!! Stephen and Erin said it right. He is too scared and probably doesn't even know how to start a fire so he conveniently decides to become a martyr going to exile. And then during the immunity challenge, he wasn't even thinking about his back until Taj mentioned it. Then he was like "oh yeah, right...my back is supposed to be bothering me".:lmao:Just like Erinn said, he needed an excuse for not winning. And he thinks he is playing an honorable game, with integrity and honesty. Bull hockey! He is the biggest liar of them all. I don't know how they can stand having him around. I don't blame Erinn for blowing up at him about exile. After 34+ days of his crap, I probably would have done the same thing.
I agree with every word!

Tonight's fav line was when he said something about The Last of the Mohicans, DD instantly piped up with "Coach wrote that movie" (in her best Coach impression) to which I replied "and starred in it, that wasn't really Daniel Day Lewis, it was Coach". She then responded that Coach actually came up with the Mohican name and invented the first mohawk. :rotfl2:

I like JT too but I think I like Stephen better. Why do all the survivors like him so much? I don't understand what the big draw is to JT. He's a rancher from Alabama and it seems that everyone hears his accent and just assumes he is a good ol' boy.

I had some more thought but the baby just woke up...

LOL moment of the night....

Taj: "Any 37yo man who thinks he's a Dragon Slayer, needs to be in a mental institution"

my 12yo son: "I AGREE!!!"

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I had Coach in a Survivor pool...I didn't even care that I am not winning $160...I wanted him gone. I couldn't take him one more second. I think he wins hands down..the craziest player of all seasons.

Thank goodness Coach is finally gone!! I could not stop laughing at all his acting. And the jury was hilarious too. :lmao:

Oh yeah, JT and Stephen were so funny when they were on the reward and were looking at themselves in the mirror. haha!

Did Coach's poem sound familiar to anyone? I thought that I had heard something very similar before.

I agree that JT put himself in a good spot with at least one jury member. JT comes across as honest, friendly, and likable - he's in a great position. He needs to keep winning immunity to ensure he gets to the end. I don't think Errin has much of a chance even if she does make it to the end. Stephen could win against Erinn, but I'm not sure about Taj and I don't think he will win against JT. Can't wait to see how it plays out!

Ding Dong the wicked witch is gone:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I like all of the ones who are left!! It's going to be hard to to see them get booted off now. However,

I'm not as happy about Coach leaving as I thought I'd be. I mean...he's like fingernails on the blackboard...irritating...but I think I would have been happier if he'd gone sooner...I don't know.

I think Stephen could be in trouble with JT now. I'm sure JT will figure out Stephen didn't hold up his end of the "warrior alliance" so JT might been thinking he can't trust Stephen after all. Or...he might think Stephen will get Erinn and Taj together and vote him off.

Sunday should be interesting to say the least.

BTW...did anyone notice the HUGE black bug crawling on JT's shoulder just before the vote?

Altho I like JT and Stephen, they acted like admiring little puppy dogs around Coach. What's up with that??

SO glad to see Coach gone, altho I agree with a PP that I'll kind of miss his antics. I can't wait to hear his speech (another poem?) at the final tribal council! I'm sure it will be :lmao:.

Just googled him...his name is Benjamin?? Wouldn't have thought that. Not that I can think of a name (that I could repeat) that would fit. I think he kept referring to himself as Coach Wade last night to get his name out there and remembered. :confused3

Also found this about Coach...altho I still think he's an ***, I thought it was an interesting insight into who he is. I was wondering exactly who he coached, because I've got 3 kids who were/are big time into soccer, and couldn't imagine having this guy coach any of them. He coached girls' soccer at Southwest Baptist University (sorry if this is already somewhere in this thread)...do they LIKE him?? Here's an article from their newspaper, before the season started:

Coach Wade vows to change "Survivor"
Issue date:
2/4/09

Whether Coach Benjamin Wade wins CBS's "Survivor: Tocantins" or not, he has already won the real survivor.

Two and a half years ago, Wade, who is the University's women's head soccer coach, fell suddenly off the bench while doing a warm-up set in the Meyer Wellness and Sports Center weight room. At that moment he broke down and wept. Wade was diagnosed with a II mm tumor on his posterior fossa, near the brain stem and cerebellum.

"It was just a crystal clear thought in the weight-room that day when I said to myself 'you are not invincible,' and life is probably never going to be the same," said Wade. "Going through that and being here the whole way and stumbling around, losing my balance and walking with a cane was very traumatic. It was the first time in my whole life when I really got discouraged and couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I prayed harder than I did in all my life."

How fitting was it then, that Wade got the opportunity this fall from CBS to participate in the reality show "Survivor"?

Earlier in 2008, Wade sent in a 3-minute audition video showing him coaching SBU girls' soccer, conducting the Susanville, Calif. Symphony and kayaking 6,000 miles to set the world-record for longest solo excursion. The video caught CBS's attention.

During the summer, Wade was flown out to New York City to meet with producers and interview with the big-wigs at CBS. Then during the fall, he got the call to be on the show and had to leave in a matter of days. His soccer team was 8-2-2 at the time.

"I got the girls together two days before I ended up leaving; with my soccer team it [my story] was very vague," said Wade. With the soccer girls a lot of things have been misconstrued. I told them 'I've got to leave; you know I would not leave if it weren't an emergency. I can't get out of this and I have to go do it. I cant give you the details.' Then they jumped to conclusions that it was tied into what I went through with my brain tumor. That was something that grieved me when I came back and realized everyone was freaked out for my health. I was simply not allowed to tell anyone I was going to Brazil to be on Survivor."

Wade left in mid-October to run some medical tests and get cleared to be on the show.

In early November, "Survivor: Tocantins" began shooting. Wade's main goal was to change way the game is played.

Instead the normal culture of "Survivor," which revolves around making alliances, backstabbing and lying your way to a million dollars, Wade saw it as a chance to display integrity and show America that even a million dollars is not worth sacrificing personal ethics.

"What fascinates me most about reality TV is people that lose complete control of their character," said Wade.

"In almost every reality TV show there are people who come face to face with temptation-- Survivor is doing whatever it takes to win one million dollars. When I went into this game I felt like if I weren't a Christian, with a strong foundation, built on a rock of Jesus Christ, if I did not have that foundation I would have wanted to approach the game differently. Knowing that 'if God is for us, who can be against us' really helped me going down there."

Wade prepared spiritually for "Survivor" by meditating every night he was down on the island.

Wade used an adventure in the past to explain the value of physical and mental preparation for a difficult task. Before he set the world record for kayaking, Wade would sit in his room every night with a kayak and paddles and envision himself as a small speck on the ocean.

However, when he actually got out on the ocean and had to out-live Hurricane Hernan, Wade said that all the physical and mental training could not have prepared him for that.

"The first time I was actually out on the ocean… forget all the physical and mental preparation once I was out there," said Wade. "You could throw that out the window."

Can Benjamin Wade, a cancer survivor, successful coach, and kayaking extraordinaire last on "Survivor", will he change the game? We will soon find out.

"Survivor: Tocantins" will air Thursday, Feb. 12 on CBS. New Life Church in Springfield will host a premiere party at 7 p.m. for Coach Wade.

I think Stephen could be in trouble with JT now. I'm sure JT will figure out Stephen didn't hold up his end of the "warrior alliance" so JT might been thinking he can't trust Stephen after all. Or...he might think Stephen will get Erinn and Taj together and vote him off.
DH and I were saying that too. BUT...maybe it was JT who had agreed to vote for coach, so that everyone would, and then he changed his vote so that Coach would vote for him on the jury, knowing that everyone else had voted Coach out. :confused3

They should have kept Coach. Who is going to vote for him in the end to win? Maybe Tyson and Debbie but I doubt he would get any other votes. You WANT to take someone that no one likes to the end.

I think the Stephen, Taj and Erin are going to try to get JT out. They know there is now way they can beat JT in the end

OMG I have not laughed so much in a long time. You gotta know the jury was praying it was Erinn and not Coach.

I missed the bug the first go around so I rewound it... ick! Nice catch Metro!!

I am off to watch the Ponderosa footage now :lmao:

That's a very good point and I think that's a real possibility now. JT has got to be doubting Stephen's loyalty after turning on the "warrior alliance" to vote Coach out.

Also...Am I the only person who thought the reward challenge was really lame? I mean...everyone started at the same place and just had to follow each other through. The only real challenge was building the stick long enough to grab the hanging bag and knocking the targets down. I just think if the contestants were blindfolded or started at different spots in the maze or something...it would have been a little more fun to watch.
:rolleyes1

I don't think it will be that big a deal to JT. Ultimately, they want to vote everyone else out. Stephen will be able to convince JT that it was the right move to make in the end. They were waffling about their decision between Erinn and Coach anyway.

I think the girls made a big mistake though. I know the thought of Coach staying in the tribe one more day was probably painful to think about. But they really should have aligned with Coach for final 3 and blindsided Stephen last night. Or better yet, they should have kept Debbie last week and made a girls alliance. It's the only way they have a chance of winning the whole shebang.

He was let go as the coach at SBU. He told them he had to be gone for a 2 weeks then didn't come back for 8 weeks.

I'll have to rewatch last night's episode, but I could swear that Stephen knew in advance that JT was going to vote for Erinn? DH and I thought we heard them (JT and Stephen) say that one of them had to vote for Erinn, just in case. :confused3:confused3

We definitely weren't surprised when JT voted for Erinn instead of Coach, because they had discussed it before tribal counsel. (Or are we losing our minds and we only imagined that?? Can't wait to rewatch tonight! :happytv:LOL)

Edited to add: We rewatched last night's episode and I see that Stephen was talking to the CAMERA, not to JT, when he was explaining why he wanted to vote for Coach and not Erinn. Also saw the bug on JT this time. ICK! lol

Good point. I found Coach amusing and would have rather seen Erinn go. I hope she goes next.
