Survivor: Pearl Islands *OFFICIAL THREAD*

You know, way back when they first announced the Survivor concept, I balked at watching it (didn't start watching until the 2nd season final episode, have been hooked ever since). I felt it would show the low down, ruthless, back stabbing nature of human beings all competing to win a million bucks. Up til now the antics have been rather tame ... Jon is the first that really falls into the smarmy group of lowlifes I thought would be on the show.

I'm just hoping that future survivor participants watch & learn from this season (learning how to ID the liars, not learning how to lie themselves). :(

I totally agree. I thought Sandra was nuts when she said she didn't stand a chance against Lil. I guess they've forgotten that Lil is an outcast, but if Lil happens to be one of the final 2, I'm sure they'll remember and won't vote for her to win.

I also couldn't believe Lil's behavior when she went stomping off into the bedroom after Jon teased her. How old is she; 5? She really needs to grow up and start concentrating on how to win this thing. (which I don't think she has a snowball's chance in hell of winning:eek: )

the ONLY way an Outcast is going to win, is if BOTH outcasts are in the final two. If it's down to Lil and someone, Lil loses. If it's Burton and someone (even Jon), then Burton loses. They will NOT vote to give the $$$ to an outcast, even if they find out in time that John was lying about grandma.

You know I was thinking Sandra said that stuff about Lil in a last attempt to sway the other survivors into voting Lil off. Sandra and Christa voted for Lil right? I think she was trying to persuade the others at the last minute that it would be in their best interests to not have to go up against Lil in the end either. And then Sandra did it in a way that didn't make herself look bad. I'm sorry it didn't work. I think highly of the boy scout organization and it's great she works with them but I don't think an outcast deserves to be the winner and I also think she's too much of a wimp to be the final survivor.

Good Call !!!

I am really starting to hate this show, its no longer who the best SURVIVOR is , its who's the best LIAR...and the way to survive is to be a jerk and a liar. my prediction? the biggest liar, the biggest jerk will win...jon. BLAH!

Did anyone else pick up last night when Jon said that is was his Grandma's dying wish for him to win Survivor.
Yes. If I remember correctly, in the last episode he told the others that it was going to be either his grandmother or his friend that were going to be visiting him on the island. If she was anywhere close to actually dying, then how would she have been well enough to travel, or why would she want to risk her condition getting worse by being put through those harsh conditions??? How did they not pick up on those comments???:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Anyone think they are "setting up" Darrah to win? What I mean is do you think they are doing challenges that she has a pretty good chance of winning? Take last night's challenge, for example. Her bio says one of her hobbies is hunting? All during the challenge Jeff kept making references to that fact. Didn't he say something like show Christa how to shoot and Darrah knows how to hold a gun. It just seems "odd" that she has done nothing for most of the show and now she has won 2 challenges in a row.

It is customary on the Internet to reserve posting spoilers until after a program has aired on the Pacific coast. There is a goodly number of people living out West, from what I've heard, so it isn't unreasonable to wait the three hours to post spoilers.

I may be way out of line here, and no doubt some will rush to confirm that I am. But that just plain seems silly to me.

After watching Survivor, most of us are eager to compare notes about what we saw. Should those of us who live on the east coast have to wait until after midnight because the west coasters might read what we say???? Shouldn't the onus be on the west coasters to avoid the thread until after they have seen the episode?

I live on the west coast - and if I want to know what's going to happen I just log on about an hour before the show airs. If I don't want to know- I don't log on. Simple as that....

Actually, I thought that there was an informal agreement among the Survivor Thread regulars during last season to do just that. Most West Coasters agreed that it seemed silly for people in three time zones to have to wait on them to talk about the show after it aired.

Again, I'm always very disappointed if I open the thread and DON'T see people discussing the latest episode. By the time I've seen it I anticipate a lively discussion and sometimes find nothing!

We West Coast people (and people who have taped the episode to watch later) have brains and know better than to open the thread until after we've seen it. If we forget and open it, we deserve the spoilers! The only problem is when people put the spoilers right in the thread titles - and I haven't seen that happen in a long time!

I never thought to listen very closely to what Jeff has to say at the end intill last night when he went on about the lying. I have noticed that he seems really disturbed with the whole bunch this season. You can tell he doesn't really care for many of them. Especially when Jon showed up drunk at the his first TC. I can't wait to hear reunion comments from him.

First timer to this thread ....

Wouldn't you think that Jon would be disqualified from winning any money due to the fact that he had outside help in scamming the other survivors? He and his friend had this all planned way before he even came on the show. The type of lying that he has done is bad enough but to cheat by having help from his friend is fraud, as far as I'm concerned! I have promised myself that if he is in the final two and ends up winning money, then after the All-Star series, I will stop watching Survivor. If the producers let a scumbag like Jon win money by cheating than what is stopping the next group of survivors to do something worse than lie about a relative dying?

We've been through this before, but I'm another west coaster (sort of) who says its fine, fine, fine to post whatever you want about the show once you've seen it. I know not to read this thread anywhere close to time for the show to air here.

The earlier post that was asking that spoilers not be posted, I'm sure it was referring to things like "the rumors board say the final two are X and Y." Since the rumor boards seem to always be right, I'd rather not know that ahead of time.

A couple of pages back, I think I inadverdantly touched off this discussion of "spoilers". Grog is right (as usual!) about this:

Actually, I thought that there was an informal agreement among the Survivor Thread regulars during last season to do just that. Most West Coasters agreed that it seemed silly for people in three time zones to have to wait on them to talk about the show after it aired.

But I believe that WAAAAY back in this thread there is a discussion regarding rumours of the eventual final 2 AND the winner. I don't have time to review this whole thread to find it but I know the rumor and I can't think of another place I may have picked it up.

In any event I mis-spoke when I said I wanted to avoid spoilers. We DO have that settled. It's RUMOURS of the outcome I'd like to see avoided, if we could all agree on that.

I doubt that will disqualify him, he's using what's available to him (the visiting friend) which is also available to everyone else (they all had the visiting family/friend and could've devised the same devious plot). It's not like he cheated by having the friend smuggle in anything, etc.

While this set of lies is morally objectionable to most, the game has always been about "outplaying" and "outwiting" others. That's the definition of how you survive, in the context of the game. (The outdoors motif is just that -- a motif.)

I just report the news. :) That's the way most online television discussion groups operate, including the big-daddy of them all, televisionwithoutpity.com.

Put yourself in the other guys' shoes and it does tend to make a bit more sense.

Unless it was explicitly stated that his friend couldn't provide such help, no disqualification is forthcoming.

Is it just me or was these 4 women the biggest dopes in the history of the game?

Band together, vote the men off since they have a better chance at winning immunity and go at the competition SOMEWHAT evenly challenged!

Sheesh

"but Jon is going to take me to the final 2" Yea right!
