Thinking of surprising DH with a tower room at the Contemporary for our last night stay at WDW the last weekend of October. It would have to be a Tower room facing the Magic Kingdom. What are the chances of being able to snag such a room. Or are they most likely already "gone". He would think he died and went to heaven if I could pull this off :earseek: . We already have ressies at POR for Oct 27,28 & 29. So I would just be changing the 29th to the Contemporary. This is our trip celebrating our 30th Anniversary. We're starting off with a 4 night Wonder cruise then a few days at the parks.

Well, you can certainly reserve a Tower room but not the MK view. That is just a request and I'm sure the most popular request at the CR. With a Tower room you will either get a MK or a Bay Lake view. I have heard the Bay Lake view is beautiful, though. So, if you can live with either view it would be a great choice. Good luck. I hope it works out.

I know what you mean. By the way that is so nice of you, and Happy Anniversary (a bit early)! My husband and I are surprising our son with two nights at the Contemporary (before heading to OKW) in October for his 11th birthday. We keep telling him we are staying someplace kind of cheap, about 45 minutes from WDW (this kid hates riding in the car with a passion) and that they don't have a pool. I have always wanted to stay at the Contemporary and DH and I wanted to stay there for our honeymoon 13 years ago but didn't even make it WDW, much less the Contemporary! I requested a Tower Room with a MK view too, or rather my Small World agent did. I have been soooo stressing about this worrying we won't get it! I guess it is 50/50 but then I was reading the Contemporary thread on this board last night and many people say the other side is better! You can see the Electrical Water Pageant and have a distant view of Spaceship Earth, which would also be neat. So then I began wondering if I should request the other side! DH thinks I am nuts and that whatever we get our son will be so thrilled to spend the night of his 11th birthday there and not some place 45 minutes away, he won't care what side we are on! I feel your pain! Still cannot believe I am finally going to stay there after wanting to forever, who is this surprise for anyway I wonder?

Me too! I requested MK view but I'm not going to worry about it because I hear the other view is spectacular. You get get a parking lot view along with the MK view so it's kind of a trade-off.

I'll just see what happens.

Your chances of getting the view you want are 50/50 (there are only two views, right?). We stay at CR every year, and we have ALWAYS gotten the view we requested, so you shouldn't have a problem. I think that's a fabulous idea, good luck, and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!

We just got back from the CR Tower a few days ago. I was sure that if we didn't get the MK view I had requested we wouldn't enjoy it as much - wrong! Our Bay Lake view was awesome and the previous poster is correct that with a MK view you overlook the parking lot and a lot of concrete as well. Not that it is a bad view, but the Bay Lake view is great too. Request the MK view but if you don't get it IMO you will still really enjoy your stay.

I hope your surprise works out!

Thanks for all the advise/info. The reason I hope for a MK view is so DH can sit on the balcony and see the fireworks and the Electric Water Pagent. The night we would be there is a MNSSHP night. We will be park hopping for only 2 days after our cruise and won't be able to "hit" the MK during the evening hours this trip. I'll give it a try, but if the MK view doesn't work out, it sounds like it will be just fine anyway. Thanks again.

Henlady:FYI the Electric Water Pageant is only visible from the Bay Lake side not the MK side. With the MK side you get the fireworks.
