Surf and Turf Disney Style…..30 days of food on land and at sea! 06/16 WPE

I spotted a Rolling Rock in your Publix dinner...

My favorite beer..... ever.

As always, great reviews!

I love the fries at The Plaza!!! Can't wait to hear about Kouzzina, we love it!

The fries were very yummy.
We love Kouzzina, do I give away to much here? ;)

UGH!! I made the mistake of reading near dinner time again.
I know what you mean...every so often just a bologna sandwich hits the spot...You need a little normal food here and there.

As much as I love all the upscale food on the Disney ships, just a simple lunch like the one we had was WONDERFUL!!!!!! :goodvibes

YUM! Love the tuna croissant at the Plaza. How was the service? Just curious, as our experiences have been pretty mixed.

That tuna sandwich was really nice. Service was okay. I mean nothing over the top, just basic service, but in a timely manner. :thumbsup2

Tom loves to try different beers and I remember that the Rolling Rock was one he bought more than once. ;)

Oh that tuna looks yummy! I read over and over how much people like the Plaza... but I have never been. Makes me wonder if I need to go.

I love the tuna croissant there - Kathy told me about the fries and they were so good!
If you haven't been, and love that kind of food, you definitely should try it! :thumbsup2

Why is the rum always gone? pirate:

I see you and Tom did some supermarket tourism!:thumbsup2

Love The Plaza! It's my antidote to days of Disney Dining!

Morning Karin :goodvibes

Glad to see you enjoyed the Plaza; we are visiting for the first time in May and I'm really looking forward to it :thumbsup2

I was considering the tuna croissant from looking at the menu but I really wasn't sure if it would 'work' so happy to hear it was tasty :thumbsup2

That rum just seems to evaporate ........ :rotfl2:

We just love to be supermarket tourists! We take hours walking through the aisles. There are so many things we don't have here, so strolling through a Publix is a treat! :thumbsup2

We have always liked the Plaza and this time was no exceptions. Really nice sandwiches and may I recommend getting an ice-cream sundae for dessert? They have some REALLY yummy ones! :thumbsup2

Your reviews are making me miss Disney food!

Oh no on your drink from the Enchanted Grove not hitting the spot. Your meal from the Plaza looks yummy...think I could eat that right about now!

Missing Disney food ........ hm, maybe it is time to plan to return to Mickey's world? ;)

It was somewhat odd, the drink was totally tasteless and I love how tart it usually is, well I guess they will have enough time to fix it until August!

Day 21, September 2

Kouzzina

For dinner we went to the Boardwalk to dine at Kouzzina. We have been there before and always enjoyed the experience.
Our table was towards the back of the restaurant and it was LOUD in there.
We ordered Diet Cokes and our server brought out the

Sesame seed bread, which was nice, especially when dipped into the

IMG_2280.jpg

olive oil. There were two different oils and they were both pretty strong, but really nice. The olives were plump and full of flavour too.

I ordered the

IMG_2286.jpg

Kouzzina Trio, tasting size portions of Greek Style Lasagne, char grilled Lamb Burger and Cinnamon stewed Chicken with Orzo. Now, as you can see in the photo, the stewed chicken is missing. Reason is that I had this dish before and this was the one part I disliked. There was too much cinnamon in the dish and it was just too overpowering, so I asked our server if he could just leave it off. Well, they came up with the funny idea of serving two Greek lasagnas instead.
To stay on the subject -

IMG_2287.jpg

the Greek Lasagna is VERY tasty, lots of meat, maccaroni and creamy sauce, topped with cheese and baked, what's not too like about it. Beware - it is HOT!!!!

IMG_2289.jpg

The Burger is awesome. The burger itself is spicy and together with the chili and tsatsiki it is just wonderful.

Tom ordered the

IMG_2293.jpg

Macaronada, Saffron Pasta tossed with Lamb Ragu and Shaved Kefalograviera Cheese, which was very tasty and well seasoned. He really enjoyed it a lot.

As always we ordered a side of

IMG_2291.jpg

Sautéed Brussels Sprouts with a Brown Butter Vinaigrette, Caper, and Cheese. We love those. Since there are lots of capers mixed in, it is a bit on the salty side, but that's how capers taste. Nothing went to waste, we gobbled them all up.

Tom had

IMG_2297.jpg

coffee for dessert. It must have been good, since I do not remember him complaining about it.

I had the

IMG_2298.jpg

Loukoumades, freshly made Greek Doughnuts drizzled with Warm Honey. These are really wonderful. They are sweet little doughnuts, coated in honey and they taste heavenly when dipped into the fruit coulis. :thumbsup2

Next up - In room breakfast

I know a lot of people love this place, but this is one I don't think I would care for. The dessert looked good though

That all looked great! I have never tried the Plaza- I think I may include it for November- I was already planning to do dinner at Kouzzina when we are staying at BWV. :) BTW-Three weeks from today I'll be sailing away on the Dream!! WOOHOOOO!!!!

It really is "different", Jen. If you don't like foreign food, than this one definitely is not for you. But I am sure you'd LOVE the dessert - it is SOOOOOOOO yummy! :woohoo:

The Plaza is our "comfort food" restaurant. :goodvibes It's really nice, the portions are generous, the atmosphere is really fun and the desserts are really something, just don't expect anything fancy. ;)
Kouzzina is one of the restaurants that's a MUST do every trip (every longer trip that is :rotfl:)
BTW, while you are boarding the DREAM in 3 weeks, Tom and I will enjoy a leisurely weekend in Italy. I'll have a some gelato just for you! :rolleyes1

I just LOVE Italy!!! Venice is one of my favorite places on earth- so unique. I am sooooo envious that you can just pop over there- where in Italy will you be going? I desperately want to go back, but the airfare is soooo bad. Eventually I am going to have to suck it up and just do it, tho-

Supermarket tourists! I love it....I do the same thing when I travel to new places...you can learn so much from what is at the grocery store!

Jill in CO

i have wanted to try Kouzzina... sadly i have yet to get someone to go with me. the burger looks yummy!

I just don't have that much time to read reviews, but I had to read your's of Kouzzina. I just upgraded my next trip to deluxe dining, and Kouzzina is one of my dinners. I've been there twice before already, and am so looking forward to eating there again.

I'm that way every time I go to Trader Joe's or Whole Foods.

We used to vacation in Italy every year when we were kids .... and after a few years we got so bored with it. We only went back again for the first time last year and fell in love again.
Venice is so beautiful (and so expensive :lmao:), but we will stay in Lignano, where we have found an Apartment hotel, which allows us to sample some yum yum food in the room. But since we are at the very start of the season we might even drive to Venice this time. We'll see. :thumbsup2
Tell me about airfare! :rotfl2: I am already stalking the airline for an affordable rate for our trip next February. ;)

Isn't it fun to check out new supermarkets while on vacation? So interesting to see what's on offer in other places. :goodvibes

Ann, I am sure you would enjoy it. The food is very nice .... and if we pick the same time to vacation you are always welcome to come along with us! :thumbsup2

We have been several times too and have always loved it. The only thing we don't like is the noise level, especially where we were seated it was so loud I had trouble understanding Tom. :rotfl2:

Day 22, September 3

In room breakfast

We didn't care for a big breakfast, so we just had some sandwiches from stuff in our fridge.

IMG_2304.jpg

White bread, boursin cheese, pepperoni ........ and Coke. :rotfl2:
Nice change from all the fancy food. ;)

Next up - Sweet treats from the Villain's Store
