Surf and Turf Disney Style…..30 days of food on land and at sea! 06/16 WPE

Happy Birthday!!!!!

and, by the way...do you mean to tell me that the INTERNATIONAL House of Pancakes is not, in fact, international? :rotfl2::rotfl2: It is one of Max's faves, though, as he absolutely loves pancakes!

Hi! I miss WPE here in my hometown. :( I used to be able to get butternut squash soup whenever I wanted.
I AM able to get a krispy kreme whenever I want, but I don't indulge too much. Thanks so much for your reviews. I'm only a little bit in, but I'm loving it! :cool1:

the hot dogs were really good and i missed having the pizza but it looks goood . i have to agree eve tho we missed you you guys:sad2: for dinner it was me and lily only for dinner kids veto comming and stayed in oceaneers club.

I am not much into Hot Dogs, but the ones on the DREAM were really good. We both liked them a lot. And while the pizza is just your regular pizza, we really enjoy that from time to time too.
Hope Ana and Sapto gave you wonderful service that last night, being the only ones at the table. ;) :thumbsup2

OMG we had so much fun with you and Tom on this trip but like all magical things they have to come to an end . I was  that it was over but i knew we would say Hi in WDW before we left
so i knew it would not be goodbye :goodvibes.
The wait staff was amazing hope to have them again :goodvibes

Jeff, we were so lucky to find you right at the start as this added such a fun note to our last cruise of that summer. :goodvibes
And knowing that we would meet again at WDW helped with being sad about having to say goodbye.
Unfortunately Sapto left the DREAM to return home, the day we had to leave the DREAM in February. As far as he told us he wasn't renewing his contract.
Ana and her sweet husband, whom we got to meet in February as well will come back and we hope to see her again next February.
She'll be back home when we cruise on the DREAM this summer. :sad2:

I love IHOP pancakes

Tom loves them too .... I am more a French toast girl. Can't say no to a few extra calories. :rotfl2:

Oh wow I have just spotted the IHOP stuffed French toast ............ YUMMY :)

Linda, it was very good! I would gladly order that breakfast again. :thumbsup2

We ordered on this last trip. Dd had it... and I snagged a bite. It was yummy. Course, hers had marshmallow on it. Maybe it wasn't a cake pop?

This is what I have ordered both times I was there. YUM!

I have a love hate relationship with IHOP. I love the way the food like the stuffed french toast tastes... but the calorie count is OUTRAGEOUS..so hate that. But... calories dont count on vacation, right? ;)

The ears of the cake pop usually are marshmallow and I cannot wait to have another one of them, they were really yummy.

Isn't that salmon tasty? It was such a nice change from the regular food.

You see, cooked breakfasts, even pancakes or french toast are not common here, so we allow ourselves to "indulge" on vacation. Otherwise even thinking about the calories would give me a headache. :lmao:

Day 23, September 4

Trilo-Bites

After spending the morning at the Animal Kingdom we were done around 1pm. We picked up a

IMG_2389.jpg

Turkey leg to take back to the villa for lunch before leaving. There is one thing I really like about vacationing during the summer - if you pick up some take away it stays hot. ;) :lmao:
We took our wonderful, huge turkey leg back to the villa with us and had a picknick in the kitchen.

Tom skipped dessert and I finished off the rest of my

cake pop, which was still nice and wonderful.

Next up - Grand Floridian Cafe

Where is Trilo-bites? I'm trying to think if that's the same place I had a cookie ice cream sandwich in April. And I've never had a turkey leg...it is not my favorite, but they look tempting!

Sorry I missed it Karin, but Happy Belated Birthday! And Welcome back from your trip. Can't wait to read about your Italy adventure. :)

It's a small "booth type" stand on the right hand side, before you walk up to the Dinosaur play ground.
Tom loves those turkey leg, but does not like to eat them in public. So we always get one, have it wrapped up and take it back to our room/villa. :goodvibes
They are very good! :thumbsup2

Thank you for your birthday wishes!
We had a fun time on both trips, DLRP and Italy. I just posted the first update on my planning thread (It's the "HELP" one! ;))

lunch looks yummy!

It really was. We enjoy such quiet, picknick type lunches (and dinners) a lot. It really makes for a fun change from all the restaurant food. ;)

Day 23, September 4

Grand Floridian Cafe

We sat out the rainstorm in our villa, then booked a vacation for 2012 and enjoyed some time on the balcony.
Soon enough it was time to head out again ......

we had a reservation at the Grand Floridian Cafe.
We arrived at the restaurant a little ahead of time, they ticked us off their list and it took about 10 minutes until we were seated.

We ordered our usual, two Diet Cokes, but wanted to have a look at the speciality drinks menus.
And we both found something we liked. Tom ordered a

IMG_2400.jpg

Mojito, which he enjoyed very much, while I wanted a

IMG_2401.jpg

Pina Colava. And what's not to like about a sweet and creamy, boozy drink. ;)

While we still waited for our drinks we were served

IMG_2404.jpg

a basket full of different kinds of rolls and some

IMG_2403.jpg

butter sprinkled with sea salt. The rolls were fresh and still warm and they were very good, with the butter melting into them. :goodvibes

For his main course, Tom had ordered the Pan Seared Halibut, served with roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Broccolini.

IMG_2410.jpg

IMG_2411.jpg

IMG_2412.jpg

He enjoyed it a lot! The Halibut was cooked perfectly, still moist and it was complimented by the sauce (which I cannot remember the name of). The potatoes were yummy and well seasoned, as was the broccolini.

I had known for a long time what I wanted to order, the

IMG_2405.jpg

Grand Floridian Burger,

IMG_2406.jpg

Angus Chuck Burger, butter-poached Lobster,

IMG_2408.jpg

tomato hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun with

IMG_2409.jpg

chips. Funnily enough it arrived kind of in pieces, as the sauce was served on the side.
I was a bit disappointed with it as the burger was a bit overcooked for my liking and I had not changed the side the of chips to something else like fingerling potatoes or fries.
But apart from that the food was tasty, hot and the burger was HUGE!

Next up - Steak & Shake

That burger looks not only huge, but yummy! Course I am not sure how I feel about the lobster on it.

The chips... they look a tad greasy... where they?

I love those Pina Colavas. Always have a few when I am there. :)

They are so good, aren't they? You just can't resist them. ;)

It was very good, but it used to come with asparagus and Hollandaise sauce, so I was a bit surprised. ;)
The lobster goes VERY well with it, trust me, Ann. :lmao:

The chips were not greasy at all, but I just expected something different, I guess. :confused3

Day 24, September 5

Steak 'n Shake

We always love to try something new and during this last part of our trip we had no Dining Plan, so we were able to explore options outside of Disney too. ;) :goodvibes

In some of the reviews we had read about Steak 'n Shake and since we both enjoy the US burgers and Tom loves shakes, we thought it might be nice to check out.

So, when we drove past one we decided to give it a try.

The restaurant was half empty when we arrived, but a very sweet and lively server took us to our table and explained the menu.
We both ordered a Diet Coke and decided on what to order. Tom wanted a shake, so he ordered a

IMG_2458.jpg

IMG_2456.jpg

IMG_2457.jpg

Cookies 'n Cream Milk Shake. It was creamy and tasty and huge glass of it. To say he enjoyed it a lot would be an understatement. ;)

For his main course Tom ordered the

IMG_2463.jpg

IMG_2464.jpg

Guacamole Steakburger, two hot-off-the-grill Steakburgers with cheese on a toasted bun, fresh, made-from-scratch guacamole, cilantro, squeezed lemons and limes and spicy chipotle mayo, served with thin 'n crispy fries.
It looked good, smelled good and tasted even better. The burger patties were really tasty on both burgers and the extras that came with it made it pretty special. Tom gave it two thumbs up.

I had ordered the

IMG_2460.jpg

Cheesy Cheddar Steakburger, a Double Steakburger, smothered with loads of melted Wisconsin Cheddar served with lettuce, vine ripened tomato and fries. Well, it really lived up to its name. Yummy patties smothered with lots of tasty cheese. Very different from what we get here in Austria, and so yummy!
I do not even want to mention what a bargain that meal was! :)

Next up - Beaches & Cream

Steak n Shake is one of our favourite burger places Karin. The shakes are amazing - Gary particularly loves the double/split ones.

We haven't had much chance to eat offsite over the last few years as we were always tied to the (free) Disney Dining Plan. But since we didn't have it for this part we were lucky to find some awesome other restaurants.
I cannot drink milk, but Tom already hopes that we will go back to Steak 'n Shake and I need him to get one of those double shakes! Thanks for the :thumbsup2, Joh! :goodvibes

Are you doing the dining plan in August Karin?

I have only eaten at Shake n Steak once and the shake was yummy, but I didn't like the sandwich...but I think it was some kind of steak burger.
