Surprise We Are Going to Disney World--Pretrip Report!
Our Cast of Characters:
Me-Vanessa-Disney Fanatic and Trip Planner Extrodinaire!
DH-Dale-Disney Lover
DS-Keewatin-10- (Kiwi for short)-Also a Disney Fanatic
My story begins back in spring of this year, DH and I had been talking about taking a second trip to Disney World so I was checking the web to see what airfares would be like during value season. The fares from Winnipeg were astronomical-855.00 per person-whoaaa-at this rate weâll never get to WDW. Decided to take a peak at what the fares were out of Minneapolis which is a 6.5 hour drive from here, found a great fare for 260.00 (CAD) each!! We jumped on it and booked our flights for Nov /7 returning Nov/ 18. Yipeee we are going to Disney World-now the real planning starts!!
DH and decide that we are not going to tell DS about upcoming adventure, it will be a surprise that we spring on him the morning that we leave home for WDW!! This was 6 months of torture for us-numerous times we along with other family members in the know almost spilled the beans! Luckily I have always surfed the net looking for Disney deals and info so DS did not sense anything out of the ordinary! DH could not resist however walking around the house saying âNovember, Novemberâ for the next 6 months- DS had no clue why he was always saying this but never really inquired!
After much debating, numerous phone calls to make ressies and hours on the net we finally settled on 8 nights at All-Star Sports and 3 Nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge!! Being the bargain hunter that I am I was able to book Sports with the Disney Club discount and Animal Kingdom Lodge with a code therefor saving a very large sum of moolah! This will be a first for us-staying in a deluxe resort and I was soooo excited about it.
As we would have 11 days to do things at WDW we decided to get the Disney Club 7-day PHP and 3-day/2 park passes to Universal/Islands of Adventure. Each year there is usually a special for Canadians where you can buy one WDW pass and get the second half price, however this year they were not valid until Nov 15-arrrghhh, we arrive on the 7th. So I go ahead and buy the regular passes at the end of Oct only to find out a couple days later that Canadian special tickets are valid immediately. So after several calls to the Disney Store manager expressing my displeasure at receiving the wrong info on the pass details they agreed to refund my PHP and resell me the Canadian Special ones-yipeee-just saved some more money! Also had a 50.00 voucher to use with a travel company so I ordered our Universal/IOA passes thru them.
Rental car rates seemed very high however after watching them I was able to get a pretty good rate with National using the Disney Club Contract code and coupon. Boy am I glad I got the Disney Club card!
Okay everything is booked and confirmed so on with the show!!!!
