DP is a BIG fan of American Football and Superbowl Sunday falls bang in the middle of our first visit to WDW.

Anyone have any tips on how to take advantage of this - good places to watch the game, places to avoid, better to just watch in room, anything really?

I'd like to take in a bit of the local atmosphere but DP thinks he'd prefer to watch in room as he doesn't want over exuberant (aka inebriated) fans to interfere with his viewing! Not sure if our 'experiences' in Irish pubs may have tainted his perceptions :).

would try espn at the boardwalk.

We are there for superbowl as well and are going to watch it at the Orlando ale house. It's usually $50 and covers food and drink. The Americans dont get into the state that SOME Brits do, there is hardly ever and trouble at their games and the fans all usually sit together.

We are staying at the beach club and the can is approx $20 each way.

I would definitely recommend going out to a sports bar to watch the game. It is usually a great atmosphere (not at all intimidating or overly alcoholic!) and having the extra live interaction of the fans adds to the game a lot, IMHO. The Ale House chain is always fun, but the ESPN Club at The Boardwalk is also a great option, as is the Buffalo Wild Wings chain (on I-Drive or at The Crossroads at LBV), Chicago UNO or BJ's Brewhouse (at The Loop or by Mall at Millenia).

Wow, super quick responses.

Sounds like you're going from experience - which of the Orlando Ale Houses is it? I had a look on their website but couldn't find anything about a set price. I kind of like the idea of being in the midst of American fans but not sure about heading off-site as I think DP will take a bit of persuading to abandon his plan of hunkering down in the studio with a stack of 'DDP' snacks.

I did wonder about that - if it's the only real onsite option it could be a challenge to find a seat unless there super early, but it does mean less travel hassle (no car). Read a trip report from a couple of years ago which made me want to go there and run far far away in equal measure.

Do either of you know whether the audio would be loud enough to hear - that's the main thing DP has against public viewing (he wants to hear as well as see)?

We will also be there for Super Bowl Sunday and have been talking about where to watch it! We were going to go to the ESPN place where all the sport takes place not just the bar at the boardwalk I'm not sure if DD will be interested so DH might have to just watch it in the room.

Will the captain of the wining team be at WDW like he was this year?

ESPN gets packed out from 12pm onwards so u need to be there pretty much all day to hold your Table. They put benches outside to watch it on, but again, these are always jam packed also.

The ale house we go to is justq past crossroads near the downtown exit. Most of the Disney bars show the game on the small tvs they have in bar.

Defo recommend the ale house, there is nothing on their website yet, but they have emailed me to say they are doing in next year, just no details yet. Season doesn't even start till sept!

If anyone wants to go the alenhouse to watch it we could share a cab!!

If it was just DH and I we would but I just don't think DD will behave enough lol!
