Super Goofs moving into May

Thanks Kim. I've had several people offer to help, but nobody has seemed to have gotten their Monitor yet. Let me know if you get it, cause we leave in three weeks! :goodvibes

Well, just got out for my run. Finally gave up waiting for the rain to stop and just got wet. Switched over to my old R/W program. Wow, it really slowed down my overall pace and for some reason I let this eat at me. Still, I think this is what I needed to do. Neighbor saw me out and wants to try running with me again. She is gonna hook up with me Thursday. I really wish she'd stick with it cause I want a running buddy.

Later Goofs! :grouphug:

Shan - we're AP holders as well (since Jan), but haven't received a copy of the monitor yet. If we get it soon, we'll let you know.

2 easy miles yesterday, 5 today. I'm taking a couple days off from the mountain challenge, since my knees were starting to complain from the constant incline.

Hey Goofs!!

Cecilia - Congrats to DD!!

Laurie - Congrats on your half!

Beth - how did your half go Sunday?

Mike - hope you feel better soon.

Shan - WTG on getting out in the rain.

Kim - very nice that DD got out with you and hopefully her knee is ok.

To everyone I've missed - Hello!! WTG, Congrats, Keep at it, Feel Better!!

AFM: LTO big time last week. First we got hit with a nasty financial issue that looks like it will cancel both the Toronto and VA Beach trip. Then found out Patrick's mom stopped eating (she's in nursing home in NY). She has a no feeding tube order so they hooked up an IV for fluids but that's it. Waiting to hear from his sister after today's care meeting with doc/nurses/etc. So there is the possibility of an urgent NY trip.

Today I'm getting myself back on track with eating and exercising. It will help with dealing with all the stress, too. I will update both our numbers for April tonight. Promise.

Keep up the great work team!

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

Liz, so sorry about Patrick's mom.:hug: One for each of you. I hope things work out the best possible. :wizard:

Shan, slowing down is very difficult (so is speeding up!!) but you are doing the right thing for your body right now. Stick with it and it will pay off!

Laurie, congrats on the half and how are the wedding plans????

Beth, hmmm how was that half anyway?? I hope things are slowing down for you.

Mike,

Everyone else, :flower3:

I went out for a quick 5K yesterday and it was really quick (for me anyway). I finished it in 29:48 which is a miracle. A 5K in under 30 minutes... Yeah, there may be hope for me yet. It felt so good to run again. I forgot how much I enjoyed it by taking last week off. Today is the gym and then a softball game until 5:30, a baseball game 2 towns over at 5:30 and dinner on the road tonight. Thank goodness for family is all I can say. DS7 caught for the first time last night and had 2 doubles. I think he is shooting for the fence so he can move up to Cal Ripkin early. I hate to break it to the little bugger but he HAS to be 9 to move up, no exceptions here. Fingers crossed for DD14, she may pitch again tonight. She is going for a no hitter (yes, that is where she does not hit anyone)... Of course all this is contingent on the severe storms not hitting this area!

Have a great day everyone! :goodvibes

So, I did my 1/2 marathon in Lehigh Valley yesterday. The day started out overcast and cool, but still able to wear shorts! About 2 miles into the race, the rain started and continued the rest of the race. It wasn't to bad, and with my hat it was ok. I had the most consistent race I have ever had. I was on perfect 11:00 min pace exactly for about 7 miles, with making up the time for walking through the water stops to stay on pace. After 7 miles, I wasn't able to make up the extra time. At 10 miles my hip started acting up because of the rain. I was dragging my right leg a little and ended up dragging my foot through a big water puddle, soaking my foot with 2 miles to go. My pace fell off, and I finished the race with a respectable 2:28:38 time. It's about a 11:09 pace for the race, and I will take it! I was really happy that I ran the whole thing (except water stations) even up the hills, and didn't need to walk at all. It was harder to keep running at the end, but I was able to mentally hang it there better than ever before.

I think my training plan with the extra miles each week helped, and I took off about 5 minutes from my last 1/2 marathon in March. I felt much stronger and mentally "in the game" for the entire race. I am happy with the outcome, but without a PR! But, I would take this race over last year's Lehigh Valley (which was faster by 3 minutes, but such a struggle). I am aiming my sights on the Philly Distance Run in September for my PR this year!!!!

****I had posted this yesterday on the Lean Meaners, so I just pasted here. Sorry, I forgot that I mentioned the race here too! Thanks for asking how it went!

Beth

Shan - we got our Monitor in the mail today. You still need the cards for the AP discount?

Yes, SAHDad!!! You're the first person to reply back to me that you got the cards so you get the $100 referral! :woohoo:

I'm sending you a PM right now...

Thanks!

Great job everyone with their races this past weekend!!

I did a 5K on Saturday and was not prepared mentally or physically. Its been a rough couple of weeks. Anyways, I almost didn't get up that morning but knew I would be really mad at myself for not going. Beautiful weather, beautiful scenery and I according to my Garmin, 3.13 miles / 40 mins 16 sec. Under 13 mins/mile, I'll take it!! I have a few pictures that I will post after I upload them into photobucket or if you are on facebook, I have them on there.

Hi Giifs,

I'm delinquent posting this week, oh well. Today I had a swim, and since it was a short one, it ended up being a fairly short workout. I appreciated that!

Suzanne and Beth Congrats on your races, and for toughing it out to make it to, or through, the race.

Shan Glad you found your discounts. I was sorta hoping they would mail the Mickey monitor before my pass ran out, but no such luck!

Mike Hope you're feeling better. Colds are just lingering, nasty buggers. DS is currently unhappy since he feels that his cold--which has been hanging on for a while--has messed up his track season and cost him his varsity letter. Partly true. Wish he had a better attitude towards life's small setbacks (just wait til the big ones kick in!)

Liz Sending positive thoughts your way for you, Pat and your MIL. Hope things improve for you soon.

Hope everyone else's training is going well. Time to get back to work.

Maura

Maura, just double checked my thoughts on AllEars. You might still can get a pass -

"The 30 day renewal window you used to get to renew an AP/PAP after it expired was discontinued in October, 2000. You must now renew by your expiration date to get the renewal rate. Your renewed pass will begin the day after the old one expires. **There have been some recent reports of people being able to renew an AP/PAP that expired a month or so before being renewed at a WDW Guest Relations window. The pass was backdated to the previous expiration."

hi goofs,

I am still hanging around and updating the spreadsheet. I am having a hard time posting on the thread, as well as doing the spreadsheet, you see with working full time plus weekends (7 days a week), the little spare time after exercise, there is just not enough time.

I keep up with the thread and congrats to everyone for keeping up, doing maratons, 1/2 marathons, entering for 5Ks, etc.

I want to post here and perhaps you can hold me accountable, I hope to really get in my first 5k in August. There is one here in town sponsored by Hansons as well as our local Orthopedic physicians office.

It is nice to finally have weather that is conducive to running outside!.

Tonight did the bike for 30 minute, 7.5 miles, as well as some sit ups and upper body exercises.

Take care everyone!

Lynn

Hey Team!

Quick update on MIL: she is eating and off IV. Thanks for all the hugs and well wishes!!

I got our big miles in the sheet. For some reason I cannot find the tracking sheet I use daily so going to have to go back to the Garmin log. :sad2:

WTG to everyone for getting out and getting it done! Just getting out for walk/run/bike/etc is more than a lot of folks do.

Well, I did it. I signed up for my first tri. June 14 - local and sprint distance. Need to work on swimming and bricks. Oh and transition - mainly how to set up my stuff neatly. New experience and I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Later!

Hey Goofs! Just checking in to keep the thread alive and well.

I have a killer migraine today and am trying to work through it. I am also still planning on the gym and some cardio but the longer I sit up, the heavier my head gets so I may have to pass on the whole thing. We are supposed to have a softball game and a makeup baseball game but it has been raining all day here and I don't foresee that happening. Good thing I guess!!

Liz, I am so happy for you and Patrick. I guess that means Toronto and VAB are both back on the radar for you guys. Congrats on the sprint tri also. I have always wanted to do one but I swim like a brick!! :rolleyes1 Happy trails to Toronto!

Mikey, I hope you are feeling better!

Yay for Shan and her AP deal. Yay for Rich and the bonus money. Here's hoping there is a yay in the future for Maura too!!

Lynn, nice to see you around. Just check in here and there and we will forgive all, you know that. I am going by sheet postings for inactive members, not postings here on the thread anyway. If you need some help with getting your numbers in just let someone know!

Have a great day everyone and send :wizard: for my head. DH is keeping me up at night tossing and turning over the economy and his work situation. Apparently I have taken to grinding my teeth over it. I do that when I am stressed out...sigh...old habits die hard. :sad2: I haven't really done this since my dad died...:sad1:

Lisa, hope your head is feeling better.

Ran 3 miles today doing a R3/W1. I seriously don't know what is wrong with me. My legs feel like jello, like they have no energy in them at all. I will not give up, but I sure am struggling. This is making it really hard for me to decide on the Full.

Also went to the doc today. My scar is healing really funky so they put steroid shots in it. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I survived, though. :goodvibes

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Busy here as always. Oh, and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!! :grouphug:

Lisa - lots of PD for feeling better. Tell DH to go find the Famous Daves. That should keep him busy and happy for a while. :lmao: Toronto is on, VAB is not. :guilty:

Shan - I'm certainly not the pro at training, but have you tried cycling to build up the legs a bit? Or maybe fueling? I know if I don't fuel right nothing comes together. Dunno, just an idea.

Happy Friday everyone!!! :goodvibes

Liz, maybe I should put DH in a beef coma and then ask about travel. I could go anywhere I want. Or, give him Devils Spit and withhold the water...:lmao: BTW, DD14 almost spit out her toothpaste when she read that!!

Shan, I agree with what Liz said. XT may help you out with your legs along with some weight training. It just sounds like deconditioning to me but fueling could also be an issue. You have probably also lost some tone in your core which is where you get all your stabilization from. Keep working at it and things will come together. You do still have muscle memory!!!

So, where is everyone??? :listen: Off working hard I hope!!

AFM, I have a run today but I missed my lower body/back workout yesterday so I am wrestling with just run and do a light workout here or go to the gym and do a heavy workout and take elliptical miles instead. If the weather stays clear like it is appearing to, the road will call harder than the gym... I am missing running right now and, after the day I endured yesterday, I deserve a good run!!

I am considering signing up for the Maine Coast half. It is women only and October 4. It is in Maine so I really only have to travel a few hours to get there and it certainly can be done. I regret that I missed Beach to Beacon sign ups as that would give me something to work toward this summer but there are a couple halves in October that I can ponder instead. VAB is officially off the radar unless someone can come up with supreme air prices for me. DH is now in the contemplative stages of Disney over Veterans Day with his sister's family. You know, his idea so it's a good one. Hey, it's Disney and I am not fighting...although the thought did cross my mind just out of spite...:rolleyes1

Good Morning Team!

Lisa - Tell DD toothpaste is hard to clean off screen. Big HEY to both kids and I suppose Mike, too. ;) Like the Devil's Spit idea. :lmao:

Hope everyone is doing ok.
Mike - you feeling better yet?

No official work out for me yesterday. Going camping this weekend so last night was getting stuff into RV. Up/down stairs, in/out of house and RV so lots of moving about anyway. We'll drive out after work and spend the weekend at the Quad Cities with lots of cycling along the river.

Have a great weekend!!

Happy Friday, Goofs!

I did a short workout today (the dreaded 7 am twice weekly meeting is really starting to bug me!)--30 bike/10 run. It went well. Probably doing a bonus ride tomorrow.

Shan Hang in there. It's bound to get better.

Liz Have fun camping. Do you have a wetsuit? I am trying to decide whether to just try and rent one for a race, or commit to a purchase. (of course, I may feel more motivated if I actually entered a race!)

Lisa Devil's Spit? I know not what you speak of. Hope your workouts go well.

Have a good weekend all--especially to all of us wonderful mothers!

Maura
