Awesome quote by Lance Armstrong that I saw on another post....

“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.”

Good morning goofs. I did absolutely nothing yesterday except lay around on the beach and read Runners World. It felt pretty good and I am hoping my legs are good and rested for today's run.

Everyone is doing great with their workouts. Very consistent, very admirable. I have the results of last weeks workouts finally added together with the week prior and will post those later today for our first week of August total. It should be pretty impressive as there are 2 weeks contained!! OOOOOh will everyone be scared now!!!!

Have a great day Goofs!!!

Hi Everyone!

Ok, I was completely unprepared for the first week of school/football/softball. What a disaster this week is turning out to be! Thats what I get for planning a major home improvement project the weekend before school starts! We needed a week to do what we tried to finish this weekend.

Good news though: I am sticking with my running plan even though everything else is coming apart at the seams.

Saturday: 6 miles in 59:05
Tuesday: 4.4 in 44:46
Wednesday 4.4 in 45:13

I promise I will get more consistant here as we settle into a routine and get the house back together!

Kim: Each chapter of TNT has different races that they train for but they rarely do half marathons that do not include full marathons unless they are somewhat local. They also have a virtual training program but wait you already have that here!

Cecilia

Thanks for the TNT info, Cecilia. I'm going to an information meeting on Tuesday, but I'm ambivalent about doing the 2009 WDW Half or the (local for me) Mercedes Half. I would be so much more passionate about the Princess Half, DL Half, or even the 2010 WDW Half. Will I feel like an absolute heel if I go to the meeting and then decide to wait for a more appealing race to come along before I commit? Or is everyone who attends the info session pretty much expected to commit to one of the races currently offered?

Did 3 miles yesterday in 40 minutes. I swear I left my knees somewhere- God do they hurt!

We are off to Vermont for a week on Saturday- I will keep track of miles and minutes and post when I return.

Hi!

Today was another 4.4 in 45:03 :)

Kim - No, you are not expected to join. Alot of people will join but not all. And if you want to wait for a more appealing race then by all means WAIT. It will be much more fun to do one you are excited about. The events for this fall should be some of the following: San Antonio Rock & Roll Half Marathon, Honolulu Marathon, PF Change Marathon & Half Marathon in Phoenix AR, & the WDW Marathon& Half Marathon. I do not know if Birmingham has the option of doing the Atlanta Half Marathon on Thanksgiving day or not. (ahem, excuse me, The Weather Channel Half Marathon - very humorous to those of us that ran in a major thunderstorm last year) I love TNT, but each chapter is very different so it be sure to talk to everyone to get a good feel for your chapter. I remember meeting some people from that chapter at WDW last year but I can't remember if I liked them or not.

Cecilia

Hey everyone! Just a quick drive-by here. Steve and I just got back from Chicago for the Chicago Distance Classic and I must say - what a wonderful city. I had never been there before and I can't wait to go back. I really enjoyed my stay!!!

Now, for the important stuff...

Steve and I finished the CDC half. Yay! I was afraid that I would not be prepared enough for it but I really think the biking that I've done lately really helped. Steve set a PR, I didn't but I still had a good time...especially being with the other WISHers!

Here's our time:

Sunday, Aug. 10:

Steve: 13.2 miles, 2:58 minutes (his official time but really more like 2:52 according to the Garmin. I think the 2:58 is from the official start time.)

Susie: 13.2 miles, 3:49 minutes (I might could have gone a little faster but I stayed with a friend who was struggling a little at the end with feet and a knee that wouldn't cooperate.)

I put 13.2 minutes because as it turns out, the CDC route was marked wrong and the officials said we went .1666 miles more than we should have.

Tuesday, Aug. 12

Steve: 30 minutes (machines)

Other than the CDC half, I really didn't do any more "official" exercising....unless you count walking all over Chicago. I think we put in some serious miles every day. :teeth:

I did 2.5 miles on the treadmill last night in 28:25. Still not a time to really brag about, but I'm so pleased that I'm starting to get faster. It wasn't so long ago that I was terrified by the thought of 15-minute miles, and now that's the pace I use for my warm-up walk!

All I have to say is "Welcome Back!" Can you feel the  tonight?!?!?!?!!!!

You are smart to take it slow...keeps the injuries down.

Thank you so much :goodvibes

ArelysAdriana: Welcome back. We look forward to hearing your progress toward your wedding day. Laurie is in the process of planning hers!

Oh goodness no, I'm not getting married any time soon. My father isn't quite yet ready to fork over any money to Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings :rotfl:

Welcome back ArelysAdriana. I'm also trying to get my butt in gear for the TOT

Thank you  Good luck getting ready for TOT!

Annnd now for my miles/hours.
Monday: 30min stretching/warming up, 3miles/51:12
Wednesday: 30min stretching/warming up, 3miles/53:56
Thursday: 60min walk (I wasn't looking at the time, I was just walking and checking out a new running route)

I'm super excited because I think I'm getting a new pair of proper running shoes this weekend  I've been using an old pair of running sneakers from Target (ugh, I know! Horrible!:guilty:) that I used to use for working out. They are fairly comfortable and supportive, but I know that they are not at all the best. I tried on a pair of Nikes that I loved, so hopefully they will be mine by next week :woohoo:

Are any of my fellow Super Goofs volunteering for the full? I'll (hopefully) be at water stop #11 cheering on all the Goofs who are running the full :cheer2:

WOW, look everyone, Kim beat me on this morning. How sneaky of you.....lol

Kim: It all starts coming together eventually, speed and distance. I am on my third year and just starting to gain speed....sometimes.....:rolleyes1

Susie and Steve: Rocking awesome job in Chicago!! How rude to make you go an extra distance though, what were they thinking?????:sad2: My Garmin said I went 13.5 in WDW due to lateral dodging maneuvers!

Mike: Come back soon, we miss you much!!!

Cecilia: You are going to be such an awesome coach. You were a great mentor so if my calculations are right....yep....awesome!!! :teacher: I actually saw a TNT runner in Beach to Beacon here in Maine!!

Joanne: I hear you on the knees. Some days they feel 100 and some days they feel 10. Cushioned shoes have been a great bonus in my post-surgical knees I have to say. I upgraded to the Asics Nimbus 10's yesterday. Here's hoping they last!!

Suzanne: Love your Lance quote. I have heard it before but it is so true. A good thought for the end of the month upcoming. Quitting is forever....

Lynn and Helen: Great job getting your workouts in. Keep up the good work!!

Laurie: How goes the wedding planning?

Everyone else: Hi, jump in, the water's a little Goofy but hey, whaddya expect??? :upsidedow

So, it is last chance workout day for this week. I so cannot wait for the next Biggest Loser to start although I am enjoying the Olympics too. I just miss Jillian and her supreme motivational skills! :scared:

As for me, I did my 5.5 yesterday. Nice easy cruiser pace for 3 miles (okay really slow pace for 3 miles) and two 10 minute miles equals an average of 10:59 mpm for 5.5 miles. I did say slow pace up there right. I was not feeling the love, feeling a little bloated, heavy, lacking motivation, all of those things. It happens. We have been eating a lot of veggies and later at night than I am used to so it is starting to mess with the GI tract a little. Soon kidlets will be back in school, family back in Texas and life back to its boring self so I continue to ride the wave!! Today is another 5 with some speed intervals built in. Then I have to race an hour and a half one way for parts for the log truck, race back, deliver to shop, hustle home, make a salad and scoot over to SIL house for the lobster feed tonight. I am deathly allergic to lobster so the salad is all for me...lettuce, mango, avocado, olive oil, lime and a little brown sugar with chicken. Yummy goodness!!

Rock on Goofs and get that last workout in to finish the week strong!!!

Lisa: You sound motivated this morning!! Good for you. Your days sound like mine......rushing around like a chicken with it's head cut off. Dont'cha hate it? But, you did get a day at the beach......at least some 'time off'!

Yesterday's total

Time: 90min

Didn't get my miles in, darnit! Sorry team!

Beth

Good morning Goofs,

Friday

3.3 mile run outside, in very nice weather. The time was 45 minutes.

It was after dinner when I ran and was telling myself, "oh it is late, don't go, then the other voice inside me said just go do it, you will be better off". I am glad I chose to take a run!.

Have a great Saturday, plan to run again, after working.

Lynn

Hey Team! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

ArelysAdriana - welcome back! Getting proper shoes will make all the difference in the world. Let us know if they make any difference for you. :)

Lisa - you do seem perky in your last post. It must be that Goofy water! Please send some my way! Good job at getting those miles in. :cool1:

Mike - good job on the Tri. We missed you at the CDC half! Maybe we'll see you next year. Steve and I enjoyed Chicago so much, we're thinking about doing this event again. :cool2:

Beth - don't apologize on the mileage. You're such a consistant participant - I wish I could be more like that. :thumbsup2

Lynn - I always dread going out to do a run/walk....especially in this heat and humidity. I have to get pysched up for the getting the runs in, especially the ones with longer miles. However, I never regretted doing them after the fact. Just making myself get out there is the hard part. :guilty:

Kim - way to go on getting speedier. It feels great, doesn't it?!! Awesome job!

Suzanne - way to go for getting your miles and time in. You are really consistant, too! :thumbsup2

Ok, Steve and I got out there today to do our 8-miler. It was hot and humid but not as bad as it was 2 weeks ago when the temp reached 107 for the day.

Here's our time:

Saturday, Aug. 16:

Susie: 8 miles, 2 hours (including warmup and cool-down. I averaged about a 14-min. pace)

Steve: 8 miles, 2 hours (including warmup and cool-down. He averaged a 13:30 pace - walking!!!).

Take care, everyone!

Steve and I went for a leisurely bike ride today. Wait, it was leisurely for him, challenging for me. Too many hills!!!!

Sunday, Aug. 17:

Susie: 1.5 hours, 20 miles

Steve: 1.5 hours, 22 miles

I'm on the way home from WDW right now. Just a quick weekend trip, and I'm going back next weekend. I was at the Buena Vista Palace and enjoyed their workout room. I did 3.76 miles in 44:47 Saturday morning and then did some major park touring afterward. Lots of park touring this morning too. I'm tired but my legs feel ok. Guess that means the endurance is increasing.
