Super Goofs End of Summer August thread

Good morning Goofs! Super quickie fly by today. I have major LTO issues not to mention 2 nights of 5 hours sleep!! :scared1: Oh and no workouts...:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I have no miles for last week for the following: Jmasgat, Updisney, ReAnSt and Jimmduck. I will update the spreadsheet maybe tomorrow if everyone can get their miles/minutes in to me by then.

I am shooting for 5 miles today. Hoping that I will get 5 miles today but I have lots of kidlet/DH work running to do in the midst of my normal day so only time will tell. My LR is rescheduled for Wednesday while DD13 is at field hockey preseason for 1.5 hours.

More to come, have a great day Goofs!! :flower3:

Not so great miles for me last week, the blood drive threw me off a few days, and I'm having terrible cramping in my left leg...not sure if it's the new shoes or what???

Happy Monday Everyone!

Whew, this weekend warrior business is killing me! In between two football practices, two softball practices, a slumber party (at our house), and a birthday party - we painted 3 more rooms in the house. I had this brillant idea to do stripes in one room. I am an idiot.

Anyway, I am proud to say that I still got my miles in! Dh is manic to get the big projects done while my weekend miles are still relatively low.

4.5 in 43:44 - DD12 tapered with my ipod and the music pushed me to go faster than I meant to go!

Angie - Cramping? milk and bananas... or better yet, a banana milkshake! consistant cramping can often be helped by increasing your potassium and calcium intake. The balance between the two is important too which is why I suggest both.

Cecilia, thanks...I'll try it...I'll try just about anything...I've tried stretching more and stretching less...do wonder if the new shoes have anything to do with it, but? so, can I do milk/banana right before the run, or the night before, or when is the best time?

Hi Goofs

Only 30 minutes of walking for me today. I would guess about 2 miles.

Lynn

Real life got in the way but did manage 3.3 miles past Saturday.

On a positive note, I signed up for a 5K this Saturday and the storm should be long gone by then!

Happy Tuesday everyone.

Good morning Goofs!! :goodvibes

Angie, I agree with Cecilia. I always eat a banana after my runs or shortly before sometimes. Try a smoothie with milk and banana after your run. It might work for you. I hate to tell you that when all else fails, the cure for cramps is straight tonic water. It has quinine in it and is a prescribed treatment for leg cramps. I have restless leg syndrome and I have to use it frequently. IMHO, it is awful so try the banana first!!

Suzanne: Take care and :wizard: that Fay takes a route around you. My mom's place is in Zephyrhills so we are :wizard: that it goes around there too!!

Cecilia: As the State Farm commercials say, I am so there with you. I cannot seem to work myself into the scheduling lately. School starts in a week and I am hoping for a more normal schedule then, but of course that starts soccer and field hockey and on and on ad infinitum.....:confused3

Mike: Where are ya? I miss you....

Everyone else: Keep on rocking those workouts!! If anyone else has miles/minutes for before the 16th, I would like to get the spreadsheet done so get those in!!

As for me...:rolleyes1 lol I did get 4 of the 5 miles in yesterday. I was happy to get those and during my run had an epiphany that I just need to get done what I get done and let the rest go. I was trying to anally stay on course with my current running plan but there are just weeks when you have to breathe deep and let it go. I was happy to run yesterday. I had a 10:09 average for the 4 miles which also made me happy. My first mile was 11:08 mpm, then 10:10, 9:50 and 9:30. ::yes:: Today is XT and tomorrow is my rescheduled LR.

As a reminder of why we do what we do, I had a coworker lose her husband this week. He was only 52 years old and had renal failure from diabetes. He was on dialysis for 10 years. This is just way too young and totally unacceptable in my little world. Please, take care of yourselves, eat right and get your exercise every day. I love each and every one of you!!!! :grouphug:

Good morning Goofs!! :goodvibes

Mike: Where are ya? I miss you....

Right here, posting up 5 miles, 45 minutes today.

LTO/WTO the last 10 days or so...traveling is finally done, at least for the next three weeks, so I should be back on track and contribute a little bit to our cause!

Missed you folks...

Mike

Back from my trip to Disney, where I did no organized exercise, just lots of walking.

Ran today for the first time in several weeks. Decided to ease back in and do a run/walk thing. So I had a Pi run: 3.14 miles in 34 minutes.

Now off to call a PT beacause all of the resting and non-running doesn't seem to have done the trick for my hurting hip/knee.

Maura

Lisa, sorry about your co-worker's husband. That's really sad. :guilty:

I did start trying to get in better shape when I reached 49. I knew if I didn't, I would start having some health problems. Now I just have sore feet, tired muscles, achy joints, etc. Seriously, though, I feel lucky that I can do what I do. All those years of bad eating and lack of exercise could catch up with me someday if I'm not careful.

Monday, Aug. 18:

Steve: 2 miles (was going for a 15 mile ride but knees started bothering him)

Tuesday, Aug. 19:

Susie: 6 miles, 1 hour (bike + run)

Steve: 3.25 miles, 1 hour (walk + machines)

Tried not to eat everything in the house today as we waited for the storm to decide what it was going to do. Just a couple of small bands went through during the day and I was able to pull the grill out of the garage to make dinner without getting soaked. They say the storm is now stationary so lots of rain of us in the last few hours but nothing compared to everyone on the east coast who are starting to flood.

Got on the bike tonight in front of the TV....60 mins/12.52 miles, felt good!

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Suzanne, Take care. I hope this storm goes through with minimal damage and clears out in a hurry.

8.5 miles, 80 minutes for 9:24 average (I think, I'm pretty tired right now....)

H Goofs

rest day today and real life is the reason.

Yesterday I mowed the lawn for 90 minutes

Take care all and have a great Thursday.

Lynn

Guess what I did last night? I registered with TNT to do the 2009 WDW Half! I feel like this: :scared1:  :scared: :woohoo: :cool1:  :donald: :faint:

Work is causing major stress lately, so I took it out on the treadmill. 2.5 miles in 28:54 and then I had to spring the kids out of after-school care. I was still stressed after dinner, so I went back and did another 2.5... this time in 28:06! One of these days, I'll have to do a 5-miler all in one workout, but this is the closest I've come so far.
