Super Goofs End of Summer August thread

Extra gel on my left and Blackberry on my right. I love the runningskirts.com pockets but maybe not so much anymore......:scared:

Good Morning!

Day One on my Goofy reality check so I climbed out of bed and ran 2.5 miles. Somehow I have to get back to running 5 days a week without injuring myself!

2.5 in 26:02 - my quads are still tired from painting. And we have more painting planned for this weekend!

Yesterday I got a call from TNT, they want me to train to be a coach. I may even be able to attend training while I am at Disney for the marathon. They know just how to tempt me! As lazy as I feel right now though, I need a coach myself....

Cecilia

Lisa,

I just checked out your pictures. I agree with Mike, you look great at the finish line!!

Good Morning!

Cecilia
How cool would that be? Since it sounds like you might have some insider knowledge about TNT, would you happen to know if they plan to do anything for the 2009 DL Half? That's the one I'd love to train for!

Lauire Hope your meeting with your photographer went well and that your wedding plans are still at the exciting phase rather than the nerve-wracking phase!

Lynn You sound like a serious scrapbooker. If only I could hire you to compete--okay, who am I kidding-- to start the scrapbook for my daughter's cross country memorabilia. I started it 4 years ago and haven't done much at all. She's now a soph in college!

disneyluv Glad you're back and hope you'll be back on track soon. I am finding it hard to do elliptical these days. I used to do so much of it last year, but I think I burned out on it.

Suzanne Yikes! Will I fall over when I get off the plane on MOnday? It's actuallu been nice here and will be for the next few days. The PGA will be glad because the PGA championship is being played about 5 minutes from my house.

Lisa You're being way too hard on yourself about the pictures. I find it hard to believe that many people at all would look good getting a picture taken while finishing a challenging athletic feat. In my Minnie ones, I look rather puzzled/vacant/slackjawed--all lovely looks!

My workout today was 30 minutes on the elliptical (see my comment to disneyluv) and 15 doing a few leg weight sets. I plan to just walk next week while I'm at the world and then cme back and start a run/walk program to ease back in. According to my handy dandy old wheelie timing thing (technical turn), there are about 21 weeks to the 1/2, so I think I'm okay.

Got to the Y a little late, but I did manage to get half an hour on the treadmill before I had to sign the kids out. Wanted to go longer, so it was a little disappointing but made it to 2.36 miles before running out of time.

Happy Friday morning!

Today is schedule pick up for DD who is starting 8th grade on the 18th. Next year at this time, we will be getting ready for high school, where has the time gone?

Thursday...30 mins treadmill/1.51 miles

Each day my time is the same but my miles are slowing increasing!

I am signing up for a local 5K on the 23rd and don't want to be left in the dust!

Have a great day everyone, I dare you!

Good morning Goofs. No more whining here (well not today anyway). I am feeling much better!!! Last chance workout day so get out there and get those miles/minutes in!!

Thank you everyone for your encouraging words. I still do not like the photos not for any other reason than my belly/hip area. I knew before that I needed to work on some toning but I had been concentrating on my shoulders and now I see the error of my ways.

I got my 4 miles in yesterday. I was supposed to do 2 easy and 2 moderate miles in and I did my first 2 with a 10:20 pace and the second two at a 9:33 pace. Oh, and I got to run outside (albeit in my long pants, tech vest, jacket and gloves. It was 58 and still sprinkling out!! Someone forgot to tell someone that it was August not April!!

I did get to the NB sale yesterday and I had DH in tow which meant the fastest visit in the history of man. :sad2: Mike, they have the 882s and in your size $79.99 minus 20% but no 1062 or 881s. I am going to check again later in the week. I picked up a running skirt to match my disneyrunning.com shirt, some long bra tops and a couple tanks. They had lots of kids stuff out (got DS6 sneaks and hiking boots), and a lot of bags, miscellaneous things. More to come during the week though and they continue to mark down more to get rid of the stuff. By the 16th you have $5 and $10 bins full to dig through. :woohoo: DH got a pair of Dunham boots. The entire bill came to $140 and change. I saved $101!! :scared1:  Needless to say the sale is well worth going to.

Have a great day Goofs and thanks for being so supportive to your poor old ugly thick-middled mid-40s captain....oh wait, I said not more whining right?? :rolleyes1 Have a good one Goofs!!! :flower3:

Lisa - I never like any of my pictures from these events. It's really sad. For some reason, I always think of myself "thinner" than I really am and when I see my pics, I gasp and wonder who this old lady is with the big pot belly and thunder thighs. :guilty:

After my trip to Chicago this weekend, I'm going to hire a personal trainer to help me get in shape. One of my goals is to do the Goofy in 2010 :scared: and I've got to get in better shape if I want to attempt that. Also, I'm tired of feeling sluggish when I run/walk. And, I want to look better so I can order some of these pictures of me completing these events!!! ;)

Suzanne - happy belated birthday. Your mom will always be with you in spirit and I'm sure she is quite proud of your accomplishments. Similar to Lisa, I always envision my dad being with me when I participate in any race. When I start to get really tired and want to quit, I can hear his encouraging voice to keep going. It's usually in the form of something really funny as he was quite the comedienne. :teeth:

Speaking of Chicago, any pixie dust ya'll can spare will be greatly appreciated. Steve and I are going to participate in the Chicago Distance Classic Half Marathon this weekend and I'm really not prepared. My own fault. Another reason to hire a personal trainer - to help motivate me to always be prepared.

Hope everyone has a great injury-free weekend! Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

Holy crap Susie, what are you doing up at 4:30 in the morning???? And on the DIS no less....

I send you all the pixie dust that I have. You are far more prepared than you think. A half is mostly mental IMHO. At some point you have to tell yourself you know you can do the miles and hit the brain override button. Um, I have not found that button yet, but I am working on it.

My dad was funny too. He would always push me and then turn funny when he could see I was frustrated. Right before the finish line I always say to myself "there dad one more down for you" and thank him for being a role model and also for getting sick which encouraged me toward my healthy lifestyle.

I wish I could fly around the country and be everyone's trainer. How fun would that be. Just make sure when you hire one that he/she understands your goals and works WITH you toward them. Sometimes trainers have their own agendas (:rolleyes1 ) and they may not coincide with yours.

Best of luck in the CDC, you will do better than you think!!

Well, Lisa, I could ask you the same thing - what the heck are you doing up so early??? :teeth: You do this every day, don'tcha? :scared:

Thanks for the encouraging words. I will probably (or at least I'm hoping to)finish within the 4 hour required time. However, I just need to be better prepared in the future so I can enjoy these events more.

On another note, maybe if I win the big lottery, I can hire you to come whip me in shape. Actually, I could come to you or we could go to some exotic location (families included). I can dream, can't I? Ha! You are such a great motivator and cheerleader for all of us on the WISH team and you offer such great advice. I feel like you are my virtual personal trainer. I just need to get someone to physically kick my rear. Sad that I feel like I need to pay someone to do that. I'll let you know what she ends up doing for me and maybe you can tell me if we're on the right path.

Well, Susie, unfortunately for me, I am working. I am on the computer at 5 a.m. Sun, Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri for the joyous purpose of typing out what the docs say when they see you for admitting, discharging, operations and, heaven forbid, our Cancer Center. It is a job that I do for insurance and bill paying purposes only. My PT career is just starting but it is something I have always wanted to do since I was bodybuilding.

So, yes, if you win the lottery, please fly all of us to somewhere warm and beautiful (hawaii works for me) and we will train for many happy races and years to come. :beach:

You will know if your trainer is working for you or with you, trust me. It is pretty easy to tell when someone is just handing out exercises or when they are very sport specific and the trainer is listening to what hurts and what you don't feel at all. See, I just needed to be following my own advice and those thick middle pics would have never happened. :lmao:

4 miles, 36 minutes.

Not sure about the 882s...have to see how my knees feel post run.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Happy Friday everyone!

Today's workout:

30 min elliptical
45 min weights

Maura--We loved the photographer that we met with the other night and ended up booking him! :cool1: :cool1: I never thought planning a wedding would be so stressful and complicated! I am actually looking for honeymoon places tonight so I am super excited about that!

Susie--Good Luck at the Chicago race this weekend! Can't wait to hear how you do!

To everyone else...Keep up the good work!

Hi Goofs,

No run today. Yesterday as a 60 minutes walk for 3.3 miles with DD.

Have a great weekend all.

Lynn ~~ Lynnielou/Port Huron MI

I'm nothing if not consistent. Did my first 4-mile run since the 4-mile race I'd done in June. My time? 53 minutes, which was my exact race finish time! Also did a 5-minute warm up on the rowing machine. :yay:

9.5 miles, 1:27

Busy week on tap...36 holes of golf today, sprint tri tomorrow, lacrosse game with my little guys tomorrow afternoon, leaving Monday for three day business trip.

:faint:

Good morning! Guess what? I am writing from Boston! We are on a long weekend here and will see the double header today with the PawSox at Fenway!

I got my new running shoes before I left home......I think I like them. I ran 3 miles on the TM last night and felt pretty good.

Firday:
Time: 60 min
Miles: 3

Hey guys! Remember me? The worst team member ever in the history of team members?! :guilty: I hope you guys can forgive me for being MIA :flower3:

I haven't been on here or training lately because of work, family illnesses, and my own illness and injury. The dust has settled though and I'm almost over my illness and my pains are going away, so I'm kicking my butt into gear because the half is just over 5 months away :scared1: I'm also still trying to do the TOT 13K in October, but I don't know if I'll be/feel ready for it.

I'll be checking back next week once I get back to training on Monday. I haven't ran in about a month :sad2: so I'll be taking it slow at first.

I hope everyone has a great weekend :goodvibes
