Hey everyone!
Lisa - congratualtions on your race! You are so speedy and getting faster all the time!!!
Laurie - those 24 hour fitness clubs are N-I-C-E!!! A friend of mine belongs to one in the Dallas area and I was so jealous of all the stuff they have. In addition, she got such a great rate as well. I think I pay as much in one year as she pays in three years. And, our gym doesn't have near the equipment and opportunities. I am so envious. Enjoy!!!
Kim - glad you are getting pain-free.
Joanne - I am always getting passed by 70 and 80ish year old men and women. I always tell people that it is a sign that there is still hope for me.
Mike - Sorry about your shoe mess. When I first started running about 2 years ago I had "experts" from one shoe store sell me a particular shoe and then another one (at another store) convinced me I needed a different type of shoe. The second expert seemed to make more sense so the shoe I trained with and wore in my first race ever, the WDW 1/2 in 2007, was not the shoe I should have been wearing. And, my feet paid the price. Ugh! At the time, I didn't know any better. It turns out that the first pair I bought was the better shoe but the wrong size. The "expert" didn't allow for feet swelling in longer distances.
Sorry for the rambling. I hope you are able to get your new shoes soon and back to successful runs.
Maura - are you training for a Tri by chance? I'm thinking about taking up swimming again - after YEARS & YEARS of no such activity. I'd like to do a Tri maybe next spring.
Steve and I went bike riding Sunday morning before the temps reached 107 degrees for the day. I think the heat index got up to 115 later that afternoon. Ugh!
Yesterday, I took the day off and went car shopping and clothes shopping. I wasn't successful with either which is probably a good thing. I've always wanted a Lexus but I just can't justify the price. However, the Lexus general manager called us the other day to let us know about the year-end sales closeouts so I thought I would test drive one for the heck of it. He's called us every year just to let us know about sales even though we haven't stepped foot in his business since 2000. Anyway, I test drove the car and of course, I fell in love with it. As it turns out, the GM was out yesterday. That's probably good because I got the ride out of my system and ready to look for other, LESS expensive options.
Here are my miles for
Sunday, Aug 3:
Susie: 27 miles, 1 hour, 45 minutes
Steve: 27.5 miles, 1 hour, 45 minutes
Steve: 30 minutes (Strength training)
